After being opened for a while (with several tabs) Firefox does generally and repeatedly play a sound - video will play again, but not sound.

This problem started happening only recently. I often keep my Firefox open all night with sites like rainymood.com or grooveshark.com playing, as well as several other tabs, including but not limited to Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit. Sometimes, after a few hours/days to not restart Firefox or my computer, Firefox starts to become insensitive - i.e., pages take a long time to load, opening new tabs is difficult for the browser and videos will have up to 30 seconds to start playing. In addition, the sound stops playing. If I start a YouTube video, after the initial period of excessive load, the video will play, but without any audio. Also, sites such as rainymood.com and grooveshark, even Facebook, stop sound.

Note that this is different from an incident of flash plugin - when flash falls down, the audio and video become inaccessible and a simple refresh or restart of Firefox will solve the problem. But what is happening here is different; If I refresh the tab, nothing changes, and even if I restart Firefox, it opens the same way again until I restart my computer completely.

Also of note: I had, in the past, this same thing happens, but rainymood.com continued to play, however no other tabs would make sound. The problem is sporadic and I don't know where to start. Also, sometimes it's only a problem of Firefox specific, which means other programs on my computer can make sounds, but sometimes this problem makes my computer all stop making sounds, with the exception of Ventrilo, which works, but is also insensitive in the beginning.

    Hi Hannesdp,

Thank you for your question. Right now, your question was refitted to the Helpdesk and to examine the issue, I will need a little more troubleshooting information.

First please try to access the page in a private window, and then try to reproduce the problem in Mode safe, if it is not reproducible in Mode without failure, then one of the extension or pug-ins can affect scripts on this page.

"Try Mode without failure of Firefox to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • Under Windows, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key option key when starting Firefox.
    • Under Linux, you can open Firefox 4.0 + with leaving Firefox then go to your Terminal and running Safe Mode: firefox-safe-mode (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
    • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

A screenshot of the problem and a screenshot of console js may also be necessary if the problem persists in a private window. These are the two reference tools that I can clarify as well.

  • Shortcut for the new window with several tabs

Is it possible to have a shortcut on the desktop to launch a new window with several tabs? For example - home page is set to "www.google.com", but the shortcut opens new window with tabs "www.cnn.com" and "www.youtube.com".

Then far,.../firefox.exe-nouveau-fenetre followed by the two URL in quotes will open two new windows. Entry - new-window "www.cnn.com" - new-tab 'www.youtube.com' will open two new windows if no instance of firefox is open, but if another window is already open, youtube will add a tab to the already open window, rather than the new window with cnn.com

In reply to myself... withdrawal-order new window (and-new-tab), now it works.

Looks like I'm too complicated it.

  • Vista will not open apps or to stop after being used for a short period (semi freezes)

When I start the computer, everything loads normally and works very well for a while, usually an hour or two. But after being in use or left alone, I'm more able to open applications, including Notepad, Microsoft Excel, Firefox or even windows Explorer Windows. In addition, the stop menu will not be displayed. I can open the start menu, but nothing else inside, so I have to do a cold reboot every time.

Excel is the only program that gave me any kind of error message, but it says there is not enough memory to run.

I am running vista Home premium 32-bit with 4 GB of RAM.

I also made sure to update all my drivers, most of my programs and even to reinstall service pack 2, but the problem persists.

You've done a repair system/upgrade and the problem persists?  If this is the case, I sincerely doubt a clean install will do better (but he can and may be worth a try if it comes to that).  I'm now tempted to think of material.  We will check your hard drive and RAM:

To test your hard drive, check the manufacturer and then get the diagnostic utility of: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/hard-drive-support/302602-hard-drive-diagnostic-utilities.html.  If she failed the test, replace it.  If she passes the test, then it's probably nothing wrong with it.

You can also test your RAM to http://www.memtest.org/.  If it fails, test each piece individually to find those who are bad and replace.  If it passes, the RAM is probably OK.

Is the computer that runs particularly hot - y at - it part of it which causes the pain from too much heat so that you have to pull your hand?  The fan blows and he is blocked in any way (perhaps by a piece of paper or lint or something)?  You may need to open the case to check for this (unless it's a laptop, then just check to see if the fan is working and you can feel air blowing from the vent.

After that, it of time for the computer repair technician to check the system hardware (NOT Geek Squad or one of these centers of department store, but a true professional) - but try following this section first to see if this is useful (and maybe try a pure install as a last resort).  The problem (if it exists) can be any number of things that you can't check yourself without special equipment spare parts (the motherboard, processor, power supply,...). Check around to find someone reputable.  Alternatively, you can return it for repair to the manufacturer (they have all the spare parts that may be required).  Find out the costs and quality of options and guarantees with the repairs and then to make your best choice.  Don't forget to backup your important data before send you it or bring it in - there is a pretty good chance that they will do something that will ask you to do a clean install even if it is probably not really necessary (but they are more interested in fixing the problem than the preservation of your data, programs and settings).  If you have a version of Vista that is capable of a complelte image backup that would be the best choice – you could just restore when they return from the machine and you will be right back where you were.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If they test OK, then let's see what you have running on your system at startup.  Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx and download and install Autoruns (which is a FAR superior to Vista msconfig program) and see what to load at startup.  I bet there are a lot of things, you really don't need but installed by the manufacturer when you installed programs (sometimes just so they will begin more quickly when / if requested).  Some are inportant as Windows Defender and your software AV - but I bet that most of them aren't and they use valuable resources running in the background without valid reason.  When I checked my own system I ended up remove about 90% of the items in the start menu - and the system showed an improvement notice in reactivity.  Don't worry, you can always start almost all of the programs in the menu all programs (or you can add controls to the items or create new programs that you actually launched at startup with Autoruns.

The advice that Michael Murphy gave you already should have cleaned most of all what could be slowing down your system - and the repair/upgrade system took care of all the corruption in files on your system. I'm honestly not Kow nothing else to try (with the exception of the material option described above).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Firefox does not ask for confirmation when exit/close with several tabs open

I'm having the same problem as user here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1139845 (only I have different OS)

When multiple tabs open, Firefox ask me never confirmation when I click Firefox close window button in the corner (usually accidentally). And I would like confirmation.

    about: config I have:

true browser.showQuitWarning (it is marked as custom value (bold), default is false)

    true browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab

and when I close Firefox (usually accidentally) I get window of journalist of crash that I submit usually.

Update: claims of a member who never close the confirmation appears for only one Firefox window, only several windows of Firefox. According to me, that this is of people probably half of bad idea is not using multiple windows, only the multiple tabs.

    The-edmeister says

All you need to do is use the Previous Session Restore, either the default value: House in the lower right corner or history homepage > restoration of previous Session. ...

Thank you very much for the input. Indeed, I go to Options/General and together "when Firefox starts:" 'Show my home page' and when I click on X to close the FF button, then asked to FF:

"Want you Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts? I click on "Save and exit" when I start FF, tabs are automatically re-open! :-) It's very, very happy.

I never thought tabs will be reopened when the blank page is set initially. And I did not tried because I usually have several tabs open, so do not wanted to risk. For me, the issue is resolved. THX

  • Videos go slowly after a break for a while em

Yes Hello, as the title says that videos go slowly after I stop em watch on something else, specifically in a site called animeplus.tv I watch the videos, then I stop em for a bit to check something else, or another video on another site, or according to the right, the thing is when I come back to this video and resume playback , it, it gets very slow playback, the sound is fine, but the video itself does not work properly, until now I've just seen this issue happens in this Web site, but is maybe the flash drive? I don't know that I removed an addon that I well that could be the problem but is not. and when I try this on Google Chrome, it works very well, I stop the video recording for other stuff, and the video still plays as usual. so I hope for a few ideas into what it takes to cause I love Firefox and I don't want to transfer to a different browser.

    Hi Slyver1080,
Thank you for your question, I was wondering what video player you are using. Streaming media services most I never keep a connection for some time and then expires, until it receives a request to stamp the next part of the video. If it expires, it must renegotiate. It will play what she has until the connection is restored and listen to the media once again.

First, please try these troubleshooting steps and post back with the results:

  • Bad behavior when closing FF 9.0.1 with several tabs open

Despite by checking the checkbox in the tabs for FF 9.0.1 preferences for "Warn me when closing multiple tabs", the browser does not behave as it did before the upgrade to FF 3.6. Looking at the following Help article:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/Firefox%20does%20not%20ask%20To%20save%20tabs%20and%20Windows%20on%20exit

showed me the appropriate topic locations: config to change the settings I think must have been properly updated in Firefox by selections of preferences automatically. Am I missing something here? Why would it be something a preference that can be selectable, but ignored in practice?

    Mac OS X 10.6.8

What wrong when you close a window with multiple tabs?

Make sure you close Firefox ask via Firefox-> Firefox Quit to close all open windows and leave Firefox.

Otherwise you just close the current Firefox window and this window might not get restored (check the history > recently closed Windows)

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Re get a signal after being away for a long period of time!

    Hi all

New to the forum, so I would like to join the thinking and see if someone can help with a small problem I have.

I work in the middle of nowhere quite often, where the telephone signal is very low or non-existent. (I'm with Orange BTW).

The problem seems to be that when I was out of range of the signal for a while, (the shortest period up to present about 30 minutes), and I'll be back in range, my BB doesn't automatically drop the signal.

The only way I know to regain the signal is off the phone (red button does not restart the battery!) and again on.

The phone then searches the signal and everything returns to normal... that is until I left out of reach!

Y at - it a shortcut to re capture the mobile signal rather than extinguished/turned on?

    Thanks in advance

    M.

Usually, you can simply go to manage connections > Mobile network and turn off, pause and turn back on your mobile connection to find your network.
