firewall configuration

The two ports must be open for Enterprise Manager Grid Control to work through a firewall, http/4889 and https/1159, or have I set up as one or the other?

Default port for Enterprise Manager Grid Control

The default port for the grid control is 4889. This is the port not secure, which is the HTTP port.
If 4889 is not available, then the first available in the range 4889 to 4897 free port is
selected. The default secure port, it is the HTTPS port, is 1159. If not available, 1159
then the first available in the range 4898 to 4908 free port is selected.

Please see the requirements of ports of Enterprise Manager firewall from doc below

You can try to add to /etc/rc.local.d/local.sh instead and see what happens...?

  • Helps to configure the pix firewall 507e for e-mail access

    Dear experts,

I called our provider cisco and ask for technical help regarding our current problem as we know on our set-up.

She told me to convey my concern to the Cisco TAC. My friends told me to post it here under discussion Netpro.

I am writing today to ask a few questions about my pix 506 firewall configuration.

To give the implementation Details pls find below and attached seizures of the show tech command.

We have subscribed the service DSL and Singtel give us 2 addresses valid public IP that is 203.125.100.246 255.255.255.252.

I used 203.125.100.246 for my external interface of my firewall pix and singtel assign 203.125.100.245 to the DSL router. In this case, we will only use PAT for internet connection.

Currently he works very well our Mail Server is resided in the Singtel Office having the ip address of 165.21.111.22. Not work that we can receive and deliver electronic mail on the internet, and we can also surf the internet.

Now we intend to put our mail in our own network server, because sometimes we encounter slowness on receiving and sending emails. Pls check on the IP address below

Our LAN IP address is 192.168.1.X 255.255.255.0

default gateway, which is the IP address of the firewall pix inside interface is 192.168.1.1

The new mail server IP address is 192.168.1.4.

Here's what I've done so far.

I created a static mapping for my mail server is here

    public static 203.125.100.246 (inside, outside) 192.168.1.4 mask subnet 255.255.255.255 0 0

and modify the access list to allow smtp on our networks.

192.168.2.0 ip access list ACL_OUT permit 255.255.255.0 any

ACL_OUT list access permit icmp any host 203.125.100.246

ACL_OUT list access permit tcp any host 203.125.100.246 eq smtp

ACL_OUT list access permit tcp any host 203.125.100.246 eq pop3

ACL_OUT list access permit udp any host 203.125.100.246 EQ field

    Access-group ACL_OUT in interface outside

After doing it... I have loss all the internet connection, the email does not work... so I deleted immediately. because it causes network failure.

I have rather edit it and create a static map like this.

    public static 203.125.100.246 (exterior, Interior) 192.168.1.4 mask subnet 255.255.255.255 0 0

and modify the access list to allow smtp on our networks.

Saw what it did not cause a failure of network or interruption. I thought that it will already work with the config, I keep it and this is the current config now... But when I change the POP and SMTP settings so that it points on 192.168.1.4 which is the new mail server on our LAN. his does not work.

To this day, we are in a discussion with my boss or not possible to create a static mapping on our new mail server address 192.168.1.4 to 203.125.100.246 which is already assigned as external IP address and is used for PAT.

We are asking your help to know how to set up our internal mail server statically match our public IP address that is already used for PAT.

Please check attached the tech release see the.

    Thank you very much!

    I'd appreciate your quick response.

    Your truth.

    Dennis Pelea

    Dennis,

Can you please send to me your configuration full pix (unscrew sensitive information) to [email protected] / * /

I am puzzled, why this configuration does not for you. I have several clients who use a public ip address for external intf more than several other services that use this single ip address.

    Thank you / Jay

  • SRX5308 IPsec Config Mode - [IKE] ERROR: no configuration is found for...

I have a real simple setup for Client-to-gateway VPN installation. Base tunnels seem to work fine, but when I try to install

a policy of Mode Config I get an error in the connection and cannot ping resources on the local VPN network.

The local IP address at the end of check-in Mode Config is 192.168.1.0. The manual says to leave the field empty and it will default to the address of the gateway, which is 192.168.1.1. If I leave the field blank this wrong address gets automatically enrolled and if I try to manually enter the right one I get an error saying it's an invaild address?

Then when I connect, I get the following error:

I think that is the question. How to work around this problem or do it properly? The manual is not any help and I googled my old brian dead.

Thanks for any idea that you can give me!

Thanks for the reply okadis and thanks for the link to this site, it is very useful!

I was able to find a solution. Turns out that the works of very good firewall configuration. All I had to do was use the remote configuration of the CLIENT as the LAN address 192.168.1.0, and then everything worked.

Now, for me, it's 2 "bugs" in the SRX5308 of Mode Config record:

1 192.168.1.0 is not the address of the Local network subnet, it is 192.168.1.1; The manual says if left blank by default subnet LAN, which it isn't, it's default 192.168.1.0

    2. it won't let you enter ANY ip address here. It must be left blank.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it works perfectly after using what is there in the end customer.

    Should have been simple. Well...

  • Error: The installer cannot set Windows XP required configuration information during the upgrade to Windows XP Home SP3 of Windows XP Pro.

Original title: OEM Windows XP Home SP3 update XP Pro

Here is a compilation of the messages from another forum regarding
    My problem:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

I'm trying to upgrade a Windows XP Home Sp3 OEM system to
Windows XP Pro. (There are a few Pro features
that are not available in the House I now need: (1) the files offline and
    (2) an add-on available for free to Onenote 2007, Top2onenote, requires a Pro).
I don't want a clean install, but an upgrade. I bought a Windows XP Pro
Upgrade CD on Ebay that was Windows XP Pro
Gold (v2002). I'm sure that's true for the following reasons:

It has been listed as an upgrade, but the CD is not labeled "Upgrade".
It seems very authentic with all Microsoft holography.
He came in the standard package of Windows XP (without box),
    and it was sealed.
The name of volume for the CD is WXPFPP_EN. The Internet,.
It is the retail of Windows XP Pro RTM (gold)!

Here are things I tried initially.

    (1) I tried to upgrade to Pro from the purchased CD. It is immediately
has refused to upgrade indicating the upgrade OS (Pro) is older than the
    installed OS (home)...

    (2) I read about "slipstreaming". "Slipstreaming" allows to integrate
a service pack with an earlier version of the operating system. I created a
upgrade XP Pro SP3 with Nlite slipstreamed CD image (and
Autostreamer later, but it made no difference) from the purchased CD
    and a file containing SP3.

After you burn the CD and start the upgrade
    (Windows installation), the upgrade process
    product through "information collection."
"Dynamic update" and "Preparation of Installation" with
no problems. My computer restarted and returned to
"Installation preparation". A progress bar called 'Progress '.
quickly filled to about 90% and the hanging system
at that time there for about 15 minutes.
Then, I got the following error message:

Setup cannot set the required Windows XP configuration
information. This indicates an internal Setup error.

This is where I am stuck. I had to leave the installation at this point.
My drive is starts raining and I had to restore a backup.

    (3) just for the heck of it, I formatted my hard drive and
reinstalled my original OEM XP Home SP3 OS (no clean up, no user file).
I immediately used my XP CD slipstreamed Pro to try one
upgrade to XP Pro and IT WORKED! I need to find out why the
properly clean XP Home OS upgraded to XP Pro but my pre-existing
(with the files users, drivers, etc..) XP Home OS does not level
    successfully to XP Pro.
    -------------------------------------------------------------

    Another post:

Yet once, today, I installed a new copy of OEM Windows XP Home Sp3.
I continue with installation of all the essential and the add-on
pilots (essentially all my original version). Then, I
set up a network connection and firewall. With this configuration,.
I ran the Pro XP slipstreamed SP3 CD. The upgrade to XP Pro
success (even if the upgrade not configured my graphics
card properly). I guess my current problem is either the registry,
the WINDOWS, some user file or parameter file.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

    Another post:

I made a file and the backup of the folder C:\Windows folder
on my system that is pre-existing (OEM XP Home Sp3). I also did a
separate the backup the State of the 'system' on my pre-existing system.
These are added my full image backup of her pre-existing
    system a month ago.

I did a backup image of my system (minimum fees OEM XP Home
SP3 with all the original installed drivers over a network configured
connection and a firewall configured). This system will upgrade
XP Pro with XP Pro SP3 slipstreamed CD successfully.

    Experiment 1:

I've restored my minimum system. I then restored the C:/Windows folder
and the State of the pre-existing system backup system. A startup
has managed (with a minor irritant). I had to activate Windows.
Then, I tried upgrading the slipstreamed XP Pro processor. He stopped
at the same place during the upgrade and gave the same error as before:

Setup cannot set the required configuration information Windows XP.
This indicates an internal Setup error.

    Experiment 2:

I've restored my minimum system. I then restored the system state only
the backup of the pre-existing system. After startup I was asked to
activate Windows, but answer Yes to the question would be to disconnect me
the system. I couldn't get connected to try the XP Pro upgrade.

    Experience 3:

I've restored my minimum system. I then restored only the C:/Windows
the backup of the pre-existing system folder. Once again, as in experiment 1,
the upgrade failed at the same place with the same error message.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Before the experiment 3, I hoped that 3 experience would succeed so I
could conclude that I had a registry problem. I'm not sure now.
I don't know what to try next. Take the minimum system and reinstalling
my files of the user is not an option that my hard drive has over 200 GB of
programs! If I restore all files and folders of my pre-existing
I would still have backup to restore a system state the reliable (read the registry).
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry for the length! If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate your responses.

    Thank you

  • Firewall blocking of communication?

How can I get my printer wireless to show 'online' instead 'offline '? The printer is works very well with the other two laptops, but my laptop does not communicate with the printer. My guess is that there are a few settings the communicaton of blocking because of firewall configuration? I spent hours trying to figure out this problem.  I can not link or download information, such as itunes or update certain programs, such as TurboTax. It's probably easily fixed, but a setting somewhere blocks all these different programs. Thank you for your help.

You should have asked your question in forum Windows 7 networking and online (rather than the "forum security, confidentiality and XP user accounts").

Networking in Windows 7 is a bit more difficult than for XP (because Windows 7 has added some security devices), but I'll see what I can do for you.

When you say that the difficulty has always been like that, does include printing problem as long as access to the iTunes store and TurboTax?

How did you install the printer?  The installation was successful (you can print a test page)?

HP has a 'HP printer install wizard for Windows 7' that might help.  You can uninstall the printer first--> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02259020&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&product=3919449&softwareitem=oj-100441-1&sw_lang=#N1062

Here are the suggestions for Apple to problems connecting to the iTunes store.  If they fix your ability to connect to iTunes, they'll probably also fix the fitting of TurboTax: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1527

I'll probably have to find another XP operating system going offline, but my piece of bridge came not with all drives, so if there are unique drivers they may not work with windows 7 or later.
