I'll have to replace a defective motherboardin a Pavilion laptop dv7. The HARD drive seems intact and still has the restore partition. I'll still be able to re - install the operating system of the existing or should I reinstall from disc and if so still use my existing COA? Laptop is a WA794UA #ABA

Thanks for any help I can get.

As you can probably tell from the image, below, I accidentally ripped out all the pads of twelve 12 pins on the motherboard for FFC connector JP36 (pictured below), so I have to fill each of the connections with wire 30AWG pin connector FFC (JP36). That said, I have been unable to trace the pin #10 connector FFC to any component on the motherboard, so my last question is the following:

  • Pavilion DV7-3165DX, Atheros AR9285 WiFi adapter, communication and incompatibility issues

After much research, I decided to buy a Pavilion DV7-3065DX. Then, I walked to my local Best Buy to say the 3065DX had been abandoned and was no longer available for purchase. However, the 3165DX, his successor had arrived and was very similar to the previous generation. After a brief discussion to justify the increase of prices with myself, I gave and was sold.

Within hours, I was in College, trying to connect to the WiFi network without success. After several hours becoming more and more frustrated, I decided to call it closes unexpectedly. Rushing home after class, I plugged the new Linksys WRT160N, I had also bought wireless router and configured on my desk. Once completed, I tried to connect using the new Pavilion. To my surprise, it worked! (And no problem whatsoever no less). So, apparently, the wireless adapter works, but does so only on some networks.

A week later, I tried to connect to a number of public and private WiFi networks of different types with limited success. Most importantly, I am able to connect to my home network, but not to the public networks in my college or city libraries. At one point, the Office for my college indicated that my WiFi adapter is one of a handful of cards on the list of incompatible devices to their network. As it was to buy the laptop in the first place, I am extremely frustrated.

I turned to the support pages of HP for a solution. I considered a update driver despite the use of the HP Wizard to keep abreast on all software downloads and updates. To my dismay, product for the Pavilion DV7-3165DX page lists of Broadcom WiFi adapter, which does not correspond to my hardware (Atheros AR9285). What's worse, is that the manufacturer's website offers no driver downloads to customers that its site is adapted directly to product manufacturers.

At this point, I'm increased and not sure what to do. I am already attached to this laptop. Apart from the war with his fingerprints on its black and shiny chrome surfaces shiny, the problem with the Atheros WiFi card is the only problem that I had. I hate having to go through the ordeal to return, and I do not think that this problem requires the sending of the product to HP for repair. Furthermore, I believe that if it came down to one of those, I simply return the product and find my way to another product by other manufacturers in total.

This certainly isn't the experience I had hoped with my first purchase of HP.

    Any suggestions?

I have the same question... However with me the solution wasn't in the pilot. I spent 3 hours on the phone with technical support, try to understand.

What it comes down to say that Atheros AR 9285 is a shi * ty wireless card. It supports 802.11n Protocol, but only 2.4 GHz (the same as the b/g frequencies). My Cysco wireless router was broadcasting 5 GHz Wireless-N and AR 9285 was not able to detect it. Once I changed the router settings to allow 2.4 GHz Wireless-N Networking, the Atheros card was able to connect under the Protocol N. However, the maximum speeds of 2.4 GHz card are slower than 5 GHz card.

I wish they would give an option to choose what wireless card to install in my laptop. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I'm always done what they me screwed on.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-3165dx

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-3165dx that no longer starts.  The screen gives me a SMART hard disk error saying: "SMART hard drive control has detected an imminent failure.  To ensure no data loss, please save the content immediately and run the system diagnostics hard drive Test", what should I do?  Help, I relly need information on my computer.

    Hello

Given the error at startup, it would look like the HARD drive is a failure that would be consistent with the inability to repair or reload the operating system.

First, data on the disk, if it is vital to get it back, your best option would be to seek the services of a company that specializes in data retreival, but this can be quite expensive.

Another couple of options, you can try is the following, however it is important to note that the odds of retreival depend on the State of the HARD drive.

    1. one possible way to try to recover your files from a disk non-boot is to follow the process described in the link below.  The CD of the Ubuntu operating system you create can launched from the CD alone (IE it doesn't have to be installed on the hard drive) and I've often found to successfully extract data even a hard failure.  When you created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can save your existing files.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/use-Ubuntu-Live-CD-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-Windo...

2 another option would be to remove the drive HARD, place it in an external enclosure - is an example of the link below - connect to another PC and see if you can access your files.

External 2.5 HARD drive caddy ".

    ***************************************************************************

Replace the HARD drive, with respect to the readers on the links below are example that would be perfect for your laptop.

500 GB hard drive for laptop

750 GB hard drive for laptop.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 64 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

  • Pavilion dv7-3165dx display does not

I have a Pavilion dv7-3165dx and the video has stopped working.  The system starts fine and seems to work normally except no video output is available (backlight doesn't work, just no display).  Leading to this there was quite severe artifacts on the screen before he died (black screen, no output).  I tried to plug in an external monitor and no signal is him either.  When I plug the external monitor backlight is turned off then back on as it normally would when you attach an external monitor, but I get no output on a device (laptop LCD or an external monitor).  I was just wondering if missed me something obvious, but it seems to me that the video card has gone wrong.  I suppose that if it was the LCD or the video cable I'd still get out on the external monitor.  I didn't replace the MB until I didn't know he is there lot of thing.  Thank you.

If you could see output on an external device it would mean than the laptop video solution (chip, processor or discreet card) is functioning normally.  Have you also tried the HDMI output?

Replacing the motherboard will be the only way to solve the problem that there is no discrete graphics module in your laptop.

  • Cannot access the files from the internal hard drive that has been converted to drive external hard after the motherboard is dead

I can't access the files from an internal hard drive that has been converted to drive external hard after the motherboard is dead. I think that my files are still there, as shown in the volume of the player volume ~ 500 gb which is almost completely full. But I can't access most files, including documents and settings. When I took 'ownership' of the folder, I could open the TI but then it showed everything that was in my documents and settings on the computer file I used to open it, not the documents of the car.

Uhm... I think the issue here is a misunderstanding of what you watch.

If you want to access your files from the old hard drive - you need to look in the right place.  If the old system was "Windows 7", "Documents and Settings" is the * wrong * place to look and "Users" would be the place to go.

You * will * take ownership and change permissions on ALL (you want to propagate to all subfolders/files when do - to save time) in order to get them properly.

New-->: Windows Vista/7 would have your files located in the directory 'Users' of the root of the drive - and then under your username.

    • \USERS\\Desktop\
    • \USERS\\Downloads\
    • \USERS\\Favorites\
    • \USERS\\Documents\
    • \USERS\\Music\
    • \USERS\\Pictures\
    • \USERS\\Videos\

    ... etc...

Documents and settings to WIndows Vista/Windows 7 is a symbolic link and would lead to what you see if you tried to use it.

Pavilion dv7.  Windows Vista Home Edition

The error message that desplays after the system recovery process, it is "Windows cannot verify the Publisher of this driver software".

I tried clicking on the button 'Install anyway', at this point, more than 5 times.  The process does not move forward and I feel frustrated and turned off my computer.

I started but that you have not completed the process of system restore, so there is nothing usable on my computer in terms of operating system.

    What should I do?

Thank you.  By showing the work you've done to a representative at the Geek Squad, I was able to buy and install a new hard drive for my laptop.

I then used the recovery disks that were created shortly after that the laptop was purchased in 2009.  Windows Vista is now on my computer.

  • Access the SSD of recovery on a 7008tx Pavilion Dv7 with a broken BONE

Then... I poured a can of soda on my keyboard, the other day. The fluid was able to go through the keyboard in the unit. Not long after that the unit has stopped operating, display color lines on the screen.

I managed her apart and cleaned the internals, very carefully, and leaving the map screen and system alone. Apart from a small amount of liquid, the motherboard was intact.

Put all together now I have a few questions.

First: The system is a Pavilion Dv7 7008tx, with two 1 TB drives in a raid array. 8 64-bit Windows. Oh and data recovery is on a ssd internal flash drive.

Second, the questions start with the 1st player making the rattling.

the operating system is not recognized and disk hp check comes back clean, although the noisy drive was no noise when checking!

I tried to initiate the recovery, but the original start menu refuses to accept anything, except that there is no boot device, go to hp.com/go/techcenter/startup and install an operating system. Disconnect the hard drive master/01/borked does not help.

Unfortunately the tech center told me after checking readers confirming the bios and such to contact hp.

I searched for a few hours for a via USB initialization method and manually run the executable SDS.

I have another laptop which runs on windows 7 if it would help

I would really like to help at least from recovery on the ssd. I assumed that it works no matter what, like its on a separate drive.

Then mabye I could actually check what damage to the unit. The color of the screen disappeared, and he seems ok, except for the drive grunts.

Edit: I know almost nothing about the raid, and as such, I'm a little lost. can I buy another drive and Chuck? The recovery will work then?

The ssd is recognized in the system diagnostics.

    Hello

In my view, that the recovery partition is E:, not Q: (SSD), unless your machine is NOT a dv7-7008tx, OR you have modified the original for a new HP dv7-7008tx configuration. The following image shows:

    (a) C: and D: 2 1 TB HARD drive each.

    (b) E: recovery partion, physically sharing with C:

q Q: 32 GB SSD that is inaccessible (for Intel RST).

Looks like the first physical HARD disk has not physically so both C: and E: failed, you cannot recovery from there.

    Kind regards.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6135dx: windows 7 resettled after upgrading Windows 10

    Hello

I bought my computer in 2011 at Bestbuy. In this computer factory settings had various applications, HP, HP Recovery manager, etc.

Recently, last week my computer was attacked by malware and therefore, I had to restore my computer by using the recovery HP (Rebecca.exe) Manager. Meanwhile, windows offered to updgrade to 10 Windows. My computer is compatible, and that's why I decided to upgrade. Unfortunately, Windows 10 did not work too well with my computer, and so I contacted Windows Support team. They have reinstalled Windows 10 in my machine and remove the function back to Windows 7.

Support of Windows 10 team could not solve the problems in my computer. I then asked to downgrade to windows 7. With their downgrading to Windows 7, I had to get all the drivers to make my computer function again. However, I do not have original HP and Applications settings my computer had when I first bought the computer.

Is it possible to install all the parameters of HP and Apps? I tried to install HP Recovery Manager, however, when I do, it says "Softpaq does not apply to the system, no installed HP Manager."

Help, please! My computer is running slowly. What should I do?

    ramirez_adolfo

The best way to make your PC work again in Win7 is to do a factory restore using the HP recovery media.

It is a set of DVD and a CD or a USB key, which will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

It's the HP for your PC product page: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv7-6100-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/5082216/model/5118973

Down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entry and click on order to press for more details.

Don't forget to read through the material in the linked thread before attempting the recovery: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00707939

    Good luck

  • Pavilion dv7 - no wireless or bluetooth after power surge?

    Hi all

I'm trying to diagnose a failure on a Pavilion dv7-4130sa running Windows 7.

The WiFi was working fine until yesterday afternoon when I think he cut a power surge or a very brief power. It was not enough to reset clocks or turn off the TV, cable box, etc, but I had to reset the wireless router.

Central heating also stopped working, due to a fuse and the defective pump - but maybe it's just a coincidence.

Now, the wireless in the system tray icon shows a red cross with Windows indicating an error message...

Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing.

I know this isn't the router as my phone and netbook both work more wireless. I was thinking of doing a system restore, but I was wondering that if bluetooth and wireless cards are defective, this does not solve the problem.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

try to reinstall these network adapters in Device Manager or recovery manager
