  • I need to transfer my OS to iMac with firewire for Mac mini with love at first sight. Don't know what to do.

Hello I have a 2010 iMac Core i3 3.2 GHz, 8 GB of memory, and El Capitan mid with a firewire 800 port that goes wrong. I just bought a Mac mini refurbished end of 2014 Apple, Core i5, clocked at 2.6 GHz with 8 GB of memory with thunderbolt 2 ports (but unspecified OS, I guess Yosemite 10.10 if Apple put the original on the renovated units OS) I want to use migration assistant to transfer all of the iMac with firewire for the Mac mini with the crush.  Can I use thunderbolt Apple firewire adapter for it? If this is not the case, what can I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

    Yes, you can.

  • Transferring content via FireWire

Shortly, I will receive a Macbook Pro. I will be to transfer the contents of my iMac via FireWire to the Migration Wizard help. Put online to get a cable, and that's when I came across a problem. They had all sorts of configuration such as 4-pin to 6-pin. Can someone tell me what configuration FireWire cable to transfer my content from my iMac to my Macbook Pro?

It depends on the ports; a FireWire 400 on a Mac port is 6-pin, a FireWire 800 port is 9 pins. If a Mac has FireWire, one a Thunderbolt port instead of a port, use a FireWire 800 adapter Thunderbolt.

  • Compatibility «?» (Mac Pro Tower / Firewire / climax together, etc..)

I take Logic Pro 9, but after looking at all the improvements for Logic Pro X, I can't wait to get up to speed.

I like the look of the improvements to the plug-in; logic adding distance (not available for LP9?); Drum Kit Designer, synthesizer, etc.

When he (LP10) announced that there is a flagrant limitation I had with my current set-up but I don't remember what the hiccup was... perhaps there is none and I could be good-to-go.  Can anyone confirm if and where I'm looking at compatibility problems?

System: Mac Pro Tower (mid-2010) 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xenon

    OS: 10.10.5 (Yosemite)

    Interface: Climax together - Firewire

If I remember, the question I met was first introduced with the announcement of Logic Pro X was he needed El Capitan - which did not offer the divers "Core Audio" / support, which means that overall height (Firewire) would be uncertain if even not work at all.  "" Looking at the "tech specs" on Logic Pro X, it supports OS X 10.10.  That looks promising (if it in fact the issue with El Capitan and the lack of support for Core Audio driver still exists).

Can I run Logic Pro X to Yosemite?

Can I run overall height (FireWire) in El Capitan without the Core Audio Driver issues / Firewire?

    Thanks in advance!

I must add, additional hardware, I am running is a UAD PCI card in the tower.

  • Want to use 3 G iPod in the car but don't charge via Firewire

I have a 3G iPod that I would use in my car, but for some reason that I can only load using a charger that has a port Firewire output which then connects to a 30 pin adapter Firewire port. It is extremely heavy, and while I managed to get away with this arrangement in the House, I would like to use the iPod in my car, but about 6 or 8 different Chargers I tried working on three different iPhones and iPod 5G, none works with the 3G iPod - despite the specs mention it.

There was no separate charger when I bought it and it has always been used with Firewire configuration except when I had it installed on a previous car with a Harman Kardon iDrive system, which I don't have.

Surely, it should not be impossible to load a 3G iPod in a car. I would be grateful of any advice or tips.

Nevermind, I just found out why it does not work - I knew not that there is a difference between the 30-pin 12v and 5v USB Firewire input. I had assumed that 30-pin, this could have been housed.

I guess that manufacturers who claim that their Chargers work on iPod 3G simply do not know that either.

  • FireWire drive not found, at all.

I have a G-Tech 500 G external firewire drive, which worked until 30 minutes ago. Now, it does not appear at startup and it does not appear in the list of drives on the left hand side when I run disk utility. The player would always noises at the start and also, when it was in use. Now, there is silence, even when I turn it on. The light on the front, but it's all I see happening.

I have reset the smc and Landau, without result.

Sounds like the failure of the drive or the enclosure has failed.

You can always try another cable to exclude.

You may be able to pull the drive and try a different enclosure

  • FireWire 800, USB 3.0

I have an older iMac that has a Firewire 800 port and no USB 3.0.

I would like to use the Firewire 800 port and convert it into a USB 3.0 with some sort of connection.

This way I can take advantage of the most recent items USB 3.0...

    Is this possible?

doubt firewire800 is slower then usb3, but many usb3 devices would probably work with just more slow usb2

  • Love at first sight for adapter Firewire under El Capital

    Hi there music pros

Read a post saying that under El Capitan, you can no longer connect firewire devices, (such as Motu 828 Mk3 (firewire)) for new iMacs and El Capitan, using the Thunderbolt adapter Firewire apple, ' cos El Capitan does "not support firewire. This info seems inaccurate for me because the adapter must "adapt", but you never know.
I intend to use my Motu 828 mk3 X consistently, work with the new iMac 5K, which is on the way, through the apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter cable.
Can someone let me know if it is allowed to use the adapter or not?
    Thanks in advance
    Concerning

I can't speak for the Motu. But I use the latest version of el capitan with a Presonus interface adapter and it works perfectly.

Bolt of lightning to FireWire 400. I believe, but have to look - lightning to 800 adapter - cable then 800 to 400.

  • Import analog Video8 through Firewire and Digital8 camcorder problem

    Hello!

I've got a few Video8 tapes from a Sanyo camcorder that's dying, so I bought an old camcorder Sony DCR-TRV480E to eBay which allows to capture Digital8, but also reading and listening to the Video8 and Hi8.

I finally got the camcorder and tried to play back Video8, immediately, it changes the function of reading and my old videos with audio built-in to confirm and DNR view (s). All good so far.

Then when I plug in my MBP 2011 (Yosemite) via the FireWire 800 port, then choose Import my camera (not supported) appears and plays video and audio beautifully when you click on "import". Only problem is - it doesn't matter! "He said," any device "in the upper right corner, even if it is the video with the audio in the window of import with no problems.

The same thing happens in iMovie.

Anyone who has seen the same problem? I want my DV imported into FCPX without loss of quality, so I can have finally digitized them and get rid of those old tapes.

I appreciate any help on this matter.

    FCP X requires timecode.

Most of the cameras Hi - 8mm and 8mm had no time, writing code on the tape.

Try Quicktime x to capture your video footage.

If you have QuickTime 7 Pro, it would be even better option than QT X for the capture.

  • How can you save dead MacBook using FireWire for iMac? I can view all the files on iMac, but don't know how to back up before, I reinstall MacBook.

My MacBook Pro doesn't start then you want to erase and reinstall iOS. Before doing this I want to back up all my files. If I connect to imac via FireWire I can view all the files, but how can I save it it?

If your MacBook will start in target disk Mode, follow the instructions on how to set up and use...

Share files between two computers with target - Apple Support disk mode

But you do not want to share files, just to save them. You can make a "clone", using disk utility. For cloning utility purposes use a program likeSuperDuper! or double clone.

  • How can I get information off my office on my laptop when firewire connections are different?

I have an old desk (2007) that won't start, it turns on but then stops. I went to Apple and they advised me to connect my computer laptop (2013)

on my desktop with the firewire connection. My problem is the firewire ends are not the same on both computers.

Laptop has HDMI and the Office has a connector with many small holes? (not tech saavy)

I want to know how to connect the too to retrieve my information?

    You use a FireWire 400 to 800 adapter and/or a FireWire 800 adapter Thunderbolt.
