Fix/upgrade of old desktop?

My question in this case must be a simple.

Can there be on this motherboard:

link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00300023

This processor:

link: http://ark.intel.com/products/27515/Intel-Pentium-D-Processor-915-4M-Cache-2_80-GHz-800-MHz-FSB

Since this processor: http://ark.intel.com/products/27480/Intel-Pentium-4-Processor-640-supporting-HT-Technology-2M-Cache-...

.. .is no longer works. Also note that I already have the Pentium D 915 processor. I want to fix this for my little brother desktop computer and do not want to spend money on another purchase. I'm a software tester and I can handle that sort of thing. I don't want to burn, although I thought to test myself,

My question is, would this work or not?

According to the specifications that you have provided, this model uses an Intel 915P chipset that supports the following processors based on the PRESENT;

The HP LRTP-(Puffer2-UL8E) motherboard can support a more restrictive set of CPUS. However, in no case it will support a processor Intel Pentium D 915 (2.80 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 MB Cache).

The motherboard supports the PCIe x 4 M.2 technology.  Get a Samsung SM951 to connect Council for exceptional transfer speeds also get a Samsung 850 Pro for your operating system and applications (not all SSD is perfect). • items lost during upgrade to Palm Desktop 6.2.2

    Hello

Just bought a Palm Pre, unlocked, a beauty.  Wanted to move the items from my Palm Desktop to the FRONT.  During the upgrade from my old, old Desktop 4.0.4 for Desktop 6.2.2 I lost all contacts, calendar etc events.  The datebook.dat file is there, but since my old Palm Treo broke down entirely (Palm could not repair it) I could not synchronize the installation of the new software.

The question is: How can I move my items the address.dat, dateboook.dat etc. for the new version of office.

Thanks muchly for all the good advice!

    Janko

You cannot use these data files to the point 6.2.

6.2 has a format of different file than previous versions and don't recognize these files.

What I would say, it is to copy your username folder in c-program files-Palm.

Paste this folder on the Windows desktop. With the help of delete Palm desktop 6.2 Control Panel-Add/Remove programs. Re-install Palm desktop that you had previously installed. Pick up the user name folder in the folder on the drive c. open palm desktop palm and see if your data is there.

If this is the case, export your data from backup. Here is a procedure for this.

The best way to protect your data is to export the data in each category of Palm Desktop in a separate folder on your PC.

Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that suits. Name it something like Palm Desktop data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on this page for the export procedure.

    http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=28734

Make sure you only select everything for the beach in the export window.

With the data stored in the created folder, make a copy of this file and save it on a USB key, cd - rw or external hard drive.

Whenever you change in Palm Desktop, export the data that has been changed in this file and save again to external media.

With this process you can always import the data in Palm Desktop, whenever you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop, or if your computer/hard drive/device crash.

After you have your data backed up, install Palm desktop 6.2 and if data do not migrate to 6.2, use the import function in Palm desktop.

  • I try to upgrade my old vista laptop to win7, but don't remember the product key for my computer compaq laptop. How can I get this key?

    * Original title: get the product key

I try to upgrade my old vista laptop to win7, but don't remember the product key for my computer compaq laptop. How can I get this key?

    Hello

Your question is not very clear to understand.

If Vista is preinstalled on your laptop, this product key is NOT for Windows 7.

There is a free upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 years, but that offer expired for a long time.

How does the Windows 7 upgrade Option?

The Windows 7 upgrade Option is available through participating PC manufacturers on some PC and Microsoft on any purchase of packaged product Windows Vista. The Windows 7 upgrade Option applies to Windows Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions. Your Windows 7 update will be the comparable version: so you will get either Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional (upgrade to Windows Vista Business) or Windows 7 Ultimate, respectively. The Option of upgrade Windows 7 program runs from June 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010. Some manufacturers may choose to shorten the time of upgrade Option.

Microsoft sells more than Windows 7, but it does NOT come for free.

    Try Amazon.com, etc.

And if you ask to transfer the license of Windows 7 from a mobile to another laptop:

You tell us what type of license you have.

If the laptop came with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key supplied with the laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.

The above applies also to OEM system builders licenses.

License of operating system in detail, that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

  • The upgrade of old Dell Dimension 2400 CPU, GPU, memory, etc...

Mainly interested in CPU upgrade at this time. I have download CPU - Z to determine my profile and I provide this stitched-together set screenshots of this program:

I just put the CPU of my Dimension 5150 friend successfully. I would only reproduce on my 2400 - a much smaller machine. This computer is mainly used for the casual internet browsing, and sometimes I watch a Youtube video. The only programs that really tax the CPU are my disk defragmentation and the program CCleaner. When I have a great session of internet browsing of 100 + tabs, the CPU also emerged at this time here.

I want to the maximum this computer using cheap parts upgrades, that I can buy it on eBay. On my 5150 friend, I bought a processor upgrade for $5 delivered and a thermal paste to ebay for 80 cents. I wouldn't mind buying a cheap video card and processor to upgrade this old workhorse

    sva50233

The Dimension 2400 can use 400 MHz or 533 MHz, Socket 478, P - 4 Northwood or Celeron processor with a 512 k or more small cache.

You cannot use all processors Prescott [1 MB cache].

The maximum support of the processor is P - 4 Northwood, 533 MHz, Socket 478, 3.06 GHz.

Before upgrading the processor, make sure you have the latest version of the BIOS installed.

With regard to the video card, only the PCI cards are supported, no PCI Express card is supported.

The Dimension 2400 supports a maximum of 2 GB (2 x 1 GB Modules) memory DDR.

  • I have two old desktop computers running Windows XP and want to upgrade to Vista

I tried the windows 7 Advisor and he said I'm going to need a professional installation.  Just trying to see if I can optimize these to give to a women's shelter.  I want to upgrade, but don't have to.  Is there any where that I can at least a scanner to check if vista is compatible?

    Thank you

    Hello

Vista Upgrade Advisor is no longer available.

That's the only advice we can give you to see if you can upgrade to Vista:

«Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Vista drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.»

If not available, Vista will not properly work for you. »

    "System requirements for Windows Vista"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/919183

But the minimum requirements of Microsoft are just that, minimum.

To begin, I would double the recommended amount of RAM for a machine that works efficiently and at a reasonable speed.

  • The upgrade of my desktop pc from HP a1540n for photo editing

    Hi all

I am currently running Win XP SP2 on desktop HP a1540n; System specs are here:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00679533

After you have maxed out my RAM (4x1Go), the system has worked well for me for about 4 years.  However, I'll buy a new 36 MP digital camera and need to upgrade the operating system to a minimum (for Vista or Windows 7) to take over some of s/w that I use for photo editing. At the same time, I am considering a few hardware upgrades as well to improve the speed of the system (I work with large files).

I'm looking for options in order to make the system work and, if $ allow to improve performance.  I would like some advice on whether if it is worth upgrading the hardware or just bite the bullet and withdraw from the newer system for somethng.

Option 1: OS upgrade only, pref for Win 7; cost: ~ $140

Option 2: upgrade MB (with processor), optionally add a video card. upgrade cost:?

    Option 3: new system; cost: ~ $1000.

Option 2 makes any sense?  So I hate to waste the old h/w, I'm not sure whether this option is profitable.  Can the remaining material (power supply, etc.) support and are working properly with the motherboard more recent or other improvements will be necessary as well (in addition to the OS)?  I will be attaching multiple drives (some new, some existing); a new MB give me USB3 ability, or is it a separate addon?

    All advice/recommendations would be appreciated...

    -Rob

    Rob, welcome to the forum.

This is one of the most difficult situations to address.  The upgrade can be a good option if the original components are even more recent.  However, a computer that is 6 years old becomes a dinosaur.  As a result, purchase new may be a much better option.  If you can afford the $1,000, I think you would advance money.

I could put this copy on a Mac Pro and have it on a laptop as well. Now, I have a new iMac and I loaded it from the original disc. It hangs and does not allow me to update. I disabled it on the old Mac Pro. When I go on my Adobe account, it only shows that I have a registered product. I got an Adobe account, but I have maybe 2 email addresses I've used in the past. I am very confused as to why I can't upgrade. It tells me that the upgrade could not be installed, try agin later, but when I click on an explanation, he sends me to a page that references my serial number of problems. I'm tired of going round in circles. Help, please.

Please download and install that 12.0.4 update assani gave you the link. It fixes the bugs of printing.  It is important.

Before installation, you need to stop guardian for one until it is finished or it crashes at installation.

Apple System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Legeneralonglet and set Apps download from: anywhere.

    Then, run the Setup program.

CS5 update no longer works for anyone, you must download and install your updates manually.

    Thank you!

    I think it's a good choice.

The comments seem positive most of the time that the fan seems to be quiet.

I don't know if your previous card had HDMI.

When you install your new video card, it can disable your sound system because of the HDMI audio chip on the video card.

If you do not lose your integrated audio system, after you install the video drivers, reboot the machine, go into BIOS, find the onboard audio setting. It can be set to Auto or disabled. Change the setting to "Enabled". Save the configuration when you have made the change and again when you exit the BIOS.

Upon restart, you will have your on-board audio back.

    Impatience back on your part.
