Flash copy storage IBM - ESXi 5.0

Hello

I would be really looking for an answer to my questions for the copy of flash using Vmware environment, can someone answer my questions?

We have two prod and DR enviroment environment

We assigned 200 GB lun to production and we formwated like vmfs and then allocated to virtual machines as a file vmdk (around 5 volumes including the C drive)

Now we copy Flash available on the environment of the DR, now my question is.

If Reanalyze us DR environment with after which allows re-signing, VMware will not always grateful as VMFS volume? 200 GB flash copy lun and we can get all the VM in this data store? -any question about duplicate volume identify potential of IBM Storage?

I have the same questions as inferior to discussion, but this discussion has not responded so ask again in a new discussion

https://communities.VMware.com/message/586050#586050

Yes, VMware will keep all data on the volume and mount it... the data store can get a new label in the snap -- and you can rename the data store later or before you mount the copy of data store, set the LVM in advanced settings. EnableResignature 1 on ESXi hosts.

After editing, the data store, you can browse the data store, save virtual machines... and on the Outlook for IBM, the source and target volume storage copy Flash different IDS.

Hi, I am looking to copy VM1 to ESXI ESXI 5 5 with ovftool in ovftool performance - ds = vi datastore1: / / vi [email protected]/vm1: / / [email protected] on WIN7 cmd. (WIN7 is vm on the destination server where I want to transfer vm1)

VM have 43 GB used. I have two servers with those ESXI5 connected to mikrotik on 1 Gbps network.

The problem is that the transfer is very slow. I can get proximetly 30Mbps.

How can I make it faster? I run four hours and had not been completed.

    Thanks for the tips!

When I copy by scp vmdk file whot I used vm and 60 GB 4 GB I'll copy must all 60 GB? Is there an option to do otherwise? I thnik OVFTOOL copy only what VM used.

In fact ovftool is intended to save you from all these file copy and blah blah distresses. When you PCs an ovf vmdk file, it could be supplied thin, but on scping, it could extend to a thick disc, apparently leading to a higher storage.

My Advisor is perhaps, the FVO vm on a windows machine that is not a part of the destination server. Then using two ovftool or vSphere client, deploy the FVO which will be the easiest method.

  • HA cluster FT, the Flash copy profile error

    Hello

(Please check the attached images) When I tried on my HA compliance Agic it failed and error see the unabale to connect. Then I tried to set the profile to cluster option where the license error came, my question is whether the company ESX4 licence doesnot include this license or the feature support. What exactly this profile feature works...?

I activated the fault tolerance on a few VMs that I newly created but the existing VM who donot have the logical drive has helped support FT how to configure their FT support or you can say after migration P2V activation FT for the virtual machine migrated?

My final concern is has licensed copy on DS4700 Flash for the logical volume ESX, it supports Flash copy or any problem can happen if I set it up.

but can you tell me pls if should I use three different VMFS3 GB 700 volumes hosts two or three volumes 1 to or a volume of 2 TB for about 18 VM and 3 VSP host.

LUN 'problem' design is very common.

I suggest to use volumes from 700 GB to split i/o on different volume.

But also this choice may depend on your storage space, check if there are some good practices on this topic.

What exactly the profile thing works for... I have the license of the company I won't be able to use it?

No.... You need Enterprise Plus... or evaluation mode...

If the backup feature is available with it?

    Yes, both VCB and VDR.

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

We would like to get more information about you to help solve your problem. You better, please answer the following questions.

    • When was the last time it worked?
    • Remember to make changes to the computer recently?

First of all, I would say that you unplug any external drive connected to the computer except the keyboard and mouse.

This error message can occur if there is some system files corrupted on your computer. Suggest to run a SFC scan, which would be a search for system files corrupted on the computer and replace them.

    Scan SFC enforcement procedure:

    1. click on the Start button

    2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories

    3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option

    4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option

5 If you have the enabled User Account Control (UAC) you will be asked to consent to the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

    6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter

    7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.

    8. be patient because the analysis may take some time

    9. If all the files need replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue

    10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

11 after the scan finished, close the command prompt window reboot the computer and check.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista.

  • Access NAS storage of ESXi Server using VMKernel Port?

    Hello

I would like to know the best procedure to connect to the NAS storage of ESXi host 5. I am able to connect to the NAS storage according to the screenshots listed in the link below.

    http://www.tintri.com/blog/2011/11/connecting-vSphere-to-NFS-the-easy-way/

But, I saw different configurations in the past where port dedicated VMkernel is assigned to NAS and all storage goes into network 10 G. I try to do the same and created a VMkernel for NAS port. But I don't think that traffic is going over there as it is not used at all.

I gave the IP address of the ESXi server on the NAS box to get access. I couldn't give address IP VMkernel sideways NAS. How can I make use of this IP VMKernel dedicated NFS storage?

I want to implement the best way to pass NAS 10 G network traffic. In addition, How can I test if storage traffic crosses VMkernel port?

    Suggestions needed.

Virtualinfra is right that you must use a different subnet for NFS traffic. You masked the IP range, so I don't see what you use, but make sure that the vmkernel and storage using a single subnet, not the management subnet. If you get an error, your use of a subnet that goes out the default gateway of the management port, or that you are using the same subnet.

I wrote a few articles on the use of NFS with vSphere: http://wahlnetwork.com/2012/04/19/nfs-on-vsphere-a-few-misconceptions/

Also, make sure that the vmnic can route traffic on that subnet, as in the case of the use of VLANs.

  • ESX 4 + storage IBM y SUN + DUDASSS

    Hola a todos.

In esta oportunidad tengo dudas con los storages.

The cuento Primero no is nada of storages, cero. After aclarado the cuento esto:

Want back/place IBM EXP3000 uno con discos SAS y uno vastante viejo, SUN StorEdge A5100 con discos FibreChannel.

MI duda are: suponiendo ESX 4 me recognize las fibra while + las debo use algun software o drivers additional SAS placa para as ESX vea el raid nightclubs in los/place?

The cuento como tengo pensado connect todo el material as tengo asi is imaginan structure completa:

1 Server (ESX4 primario) IBM X 3400, pondria Plaça sas (para conectarlo al ibm storage) + 2 while fiber Gigabit (para conectarlo al Storage SUN) + 2 gigabit ethernet while para conectarlas a switch gigabit (24 ports of ethernet giga + fibra giga - 3com 2924 SFP PLUS 4).

1 Server (ESX4 language) IBM X 3400 the pondria 2 fibra while Gigabit (para conectarlo al Storage SUN) + 2 while

Gigabit Ethernet para conectarlas al switch that comment make con.

The idea that're a servidor sea el ESX primario igual al than el storage IBM sea el repositorio las office primario. El segundo servidor junto con el storage SUN vendrian an alta disponivilidad ser. That opinan? o debo change?

Any sugerencia're bienvenida pues no tengo mucha experiencia.

    Saludos is muchas gracias

    Hola muchodespues,

No against los devices as mencionas como soportados (hooked algo rapido) pero if llega an andar realmente go suerte.

The config del las fibra esta perfecto, 2 por cada ESX while while you da redundancia perfecta. Las while gigabit ethernet como would be ideal of mas - 2, 4-ports are UN muy buen.

El storage SAS lo going to a local disco como worm, TR en instalacion del ESX probably no ves el puedes cargarle los storage drivers (if are there), caso contrario hay than worm if SO lo detecta default por el.

    Saludos!

  • Basic questions about the storage on ESXi

    Hello

We are about to implement a VMware ESXi environment and I would like to get some clarification on the storage in ESXi before proceeding.

Material: 3 guests and HP EVA4000 FC 4 TB SAN.

We execute the file, mail, web, directory, application and database servers.

Some of these services require quick I/O and some require data to be 'seen' by at least 2 virtual servers for HA.

Can I use discs RDM for HA/Clustering servers and for those who need quick I/O, or can I use VMDK:s?

If I present to you the entire 4 TB SAN ESXi can I then several virtual servers use certain parts of this 4 TB SAN as discs RDM and other servers use certain parts of this SAN as VMDK:s? (Do we have virtual HBA:s in ESXi?)

    Thank you

Yes. But you must consider as usual VMDK of hard drives in this case, you must install the cluster file system there.

  • Upgrading to ESX 4.0 host autonomous with local storage to ESXi 4.1 on a USB

We have a stand-alone host with a single raid array that is local to the server at a remote site from ours.  The question of what I've done research, you need to reformat the raid array if you install ESXi 4.1 on this host.  Since there is no shared storage, the only option would be to copy the data from one server to another, or maybe install ESXi on a USB key.

It seems to work fairly well in a test environment.  Are there warnings that I may have missed when I take a system that can be started locally on ESX 4.0 and change it to boot from a USB key with ESXi 4.1?  In my test environment, I know that you can not install ESXi 4.1 on a USB key, if this system had ESXi 4.1 installed on the local disk.  He ended up giving me the GROUP when he discovered another ESXi installation.

    Thoughts?

    Matt

As you may have noticed a new ESXi installation will wipe away the installation partition.  If you have just a single Bay, then you'll want to go to the root of the USB.  If the data store was on a LUN or a separate table, then you'd be OK to install ESXi on ESX.  As long as the boot order is set correctly, you'll be fine.

In my test environment, I know that you can not install ESXi 4.1 on a USB key, if this system had ESXi 4.1 installed on the local disk. He ended up giving

me the GROUP when he discovered another ESXi installation.

What kind of system did you use for testing?

  • Flash drive storage local reset of parameter None

I have windows 7 64 bit using two fire fox and IE when I click with the right button on a video flash etc. and access local storage settings is set to zero, if I move the cursor, and then click close it does absolutely nothing, when I reopen it the setting for the same video it is always zero. I tried reseting the global storage with l http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.htm parameter and the parameters of dosnt handler function at all. When I try to click on allow third nothing happens a check even dosnt apear in the box. If I try to move the cursor, it resets right back to zero. I thought 10 KB was the default for all Web sites... but I can't change the value by default either.

I don't have Win7, but just any windows you have.  Location and values for this * secret config file STUPID * I'm about to consult should be the same for any version of Windows.

Indeed, after reviewing your question again, you could just be a victum of the corrupt file "settings.sol".  If this is the case, you can try using only the first 2 steps in my hack instructions.  After completing the step #2, simply delete the file "settings.sol", restart your browser, go run a video Flash and Flash Player will see that the configuration file is missing, so it will create a nice Virgin own copy from scratch.  Doesn't hurt to try.

    http://forums.Adobe.com/message/4566499#4566499

Now what I was about to suggest as a first step, if you have a slight understanding of hexadecimal code and want to make a permanent adjustment to the parameter and try again after my hack, step 1 completely through to the default #6 step.  Working for me great.  Not quite hate the app and curse the programmer whenever I use it now.

Hi guys, we are planning to add IBM ds3512 with Dell R710, who is having a port two Perc 6 GB/e card. Windows 2008 r2 is the operating system installed on the server, I have configured the storage that shows the card number wwpn and assign the Lun to the server using wwpn of card SAS. But some how in server 2008 disk management doesn't show any other drive other than default drive. New analysis also do not add this disk assigned to the server. Storage and server is connected with cables SAS with one side and server 8470-side and storage 8088.  While LEDs on the card are green. Why the operating system

    Don't show assigned drive? Concerning

As I don't know card SAS will be configured through the bios utility is not a problem. CTL R. But the only problem that we get is it only support of less than 2 TB drives.

Any idea to solve this problem? Maybe it's a bug with vsphere 6.0

Given that some machines were functioning and vmotion later in both directions from 6.0 to 5.5 works, I think that is no configuration error.

It seems that there could be a bug or that guests have difficulties to negotiate the transfer of drive on a network. VMotions storage are carried out via the management network (limitation of hard due to the codification)-are you sure that management networks are not overloaded or that they operate at the desired speed? This also happens with machines that have actually disabled followed block? It seems that this could be a problem.

In addition, you use the 'old' client or Web client? It is possible that some features in vSphere 6.0 may have been omitted in the old thick client.

    Below are the errors:

2015-04 - T 02, 03: 01:34.468Z | VMX | I120: MigrateShouldPrepareDestination: remote host does not support an explicit step to prepare migration destination.

    2015-04 - T 02, 03: 01:34.471Z | Worker #0 | W110: SVMotion_DiskSetupRPC: related disc expected but not found for the file: /vmfs/volumes/526d0605-8317b046-f37e-0025906cd27e/test1/test1-ctk.vmdk

Thanks for the answers in advance and good luck!

  • Access the SMB storage using esxi host and manage with MS server 2008

Hi there, I know the subject line can be confusing, but I didn't know how to explain what I need in the line object in such a short sentence.

in any case, I have a storage device SMB, a Promise VTrak M610P, which is attached to a blade server 1U HP through interface channels double Ultra 320 SCSI host. I can't configure the VTrak as a NFS, the only way to access logical drives is connected to a server via the scsi channels and using the operating system to share the drive and the shared disks.

I would use a server blade with dual ultra 320 SCSI host interface channels and connect the VTrak to this server blade. Then I would install ESXI hypervisor OS 5.5 to this server blade. I want to know is if the ESXI operating system will recognize the logical drives and if I create a virtual machine with MS server 2008 and see if the virtual machine detects logical drives, so that I can share the drives? I hope that I'm supposed to and if I'm not, please let me know what makes no sense, I will do the best to explain it better.

    Thank you

    Andy

So it turns out that there seems to be something wrong with vClient when you add a hard disk (virtual disk) to a virtual machine of size greater than 4 TB. Article VMware KB: value of range error message when you add more than 4 TB capacity discs in vSphere Client describes this if you encounter this problem, add the hard drive via vSphere CLI, CLI power or vmkfstools. So this seems to be a known issue on vClient. What I ended up doing was using vClient, creation of hard disk, adding to the virtual machine (size of the hard drive is to 5.45) and when I would get the error message on the DiskCapControl out of reach, I would just click OK and then finalize the creation of the hard drive on the virtual machine. Once the process is complete, I selected the virtual machine and noticed that he indeed added a new HDD size 5.45 TB even if he's complained about it. I pulled to the top of the virtual machine with windows server 2008 R2 installed and was able to create a new disk under windows and set it up as a shared drive on the network. Looks like vClient must be updated by VMware and correct this bug, if it's a bug that I think. Thank you for the help vervoort!

  • Images IBM ESXi 4.1 to 5.5 upgrade

The upgrade to ESXi 4.1 Patch 5 on 30-01 - 2012 Build #582267 with customization of IBM to VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) 5.5 with customization of IBM for VMware ESXi - 5.5.0 - 1746974-IBM - 20140428.iso image downloaded from the IBM site. When you attempt to upgrade using Update Manager 5.5 receive the following error:

    Unsupported configuration:

Software modules oem-ibmcustomization oem-vmware-esx-drives-net-vxge oem-vmware-esx-drivers-scsi-3w-9xxx vmware-esx drivers-net be2net published by third-party providers are installed on the host computer. The upgrade of the host will remove these modules.

The release notes for State 5.5:

    Migration of third-party Solutions
You cannot migrate directly from third-party solutions installed on an ESX or ESXi host as part of an upgrade of the host. Architectural changes between 5.1 and 5.5 ESXi ESXi result in the loss of third-party components, and system instability. To perform these migrations, you can create an ISO file personalized with Image Builder. For more information on the upgrade of your third-party host performing all customizations, see the Upgrade vSphere documentation. For more information on the use of Image Generator to make a custom ISO, see vSphere Installation and configurationdocumentation.

Does it mean that our IBM specific upgrade path is not supported? If so, the need for a new installation and then apply this ESXi host host profile?

    Thank you,-Jeff

    I received the following IBM:

"As long as no additional VIBs have been added to the current image of VMware ESXi 4.x custom IBM installed on the host server, it is safe to force a migration to custom image 5.x because the VIBs of third parties that have been added to the original image by IBM have equivalents in the custom image ESXi 5.0."

That said I think that we can proceed with the procedure of forced Migration to upgrade these hosts.
