Flashback and accelerated failover

Hello everyone:

Environment of the guard of my data:
Primary: 11.1.0.7 RAC 2 nodes
Standby time: Single Instance 11.1.0.7

I want to implement the changeover accelerated in my environment. Requirements for reading, I found that Oracle Flashback is necessary (I do not use Flashback on my databases).
Best practices recommend 60 min (1 h) for DB_FLASHBACK_RETENTION_TARGET, if I just want to use Flashback for fast failover.

My questions:

What better setup in flash on ASM or O.S. filesystem recovery area?

What is the recommended size for the flash recovery area?

Thank you very much.

Hello and thanks for the help

I have not configured backup to FRA. I do backups on an operating system partition and I don't want to make on FRA.
Size of the databases: 300 GB
Backup size: 100 GB (full)
Archiving logs go to another location (a partition of the DSO).
I'm just going to check in Flashback connects to FRA.

Here is the correct link for estimation http://dban00b.wordpress.com/2010/01/21/15_estimate_flashback_fra/

  • How do you derive speed and acceleration data position?

    Hello

We are working on a project that requires data of distance, speed and acceleration over time.  We use the NI 9234 compactDAQ chassis connected to an accelerometer.  The accelerometer is attached to a topic plastic cantilevered (rectangular) which is "gathered" - a bit like a ruler on the edge of a table hanging like a diving board.  We will gain about 2 k samples/sec.  There is no problem getting the acceleration data, it is transformed in speed and distance, which is the problem.  There is a link OR a solution (http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-4308, see below), but it does not work.  I remember in my class of calculation that you integrate acceleration to get the speed, you integrate the speed to get remotely.

This gives us the following graphs:

Acceleration seems good, of course.  But the speed looks like it is a sinusoidal signal riding on a curve that dips down and then decreases exponentially.  (This dip and decomposition looks like the answer to an excessive vibration.)  I expected to be similar to the acceleration, speed, but out of phase 90 degrees (symmetrical relative to the origin).

And we want the position and not remotely.  Position would also be a sine wave exponentially decaying.

    So, what math should apply?

    Thanks in advance,

    Shadowfeld

    Hello

Conversion acceleration in the speed/movement or movement speed requires the digital integration. In LabVIEW, you can take the accelerometer measures and represent this signal in acceleration, speed or movement by running the example VI (Figure 1) included in the next tutorial for area Developer:

  • I forgot my microsoft internet security and acceleration server password and username

I forgot my user name and a password for microsoft internet security and acceleration server

    Hi Tom,

Unfortunately, we are limited in what we can do to help with password lost or forgotten by Microsoft Policy, which applies to anyone who answered questions here. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/189126.  But there are a few options to try:

You have another administrator account where you know the password that you can connect to the password changes to this account?

First of all, make sure that you do not have the CAPS LOCK SHIFT keys or Numlock enabled - this can change what you think, you type in something else (different case or a number or a letter) and the system see what you entered as incorrect.

Second, if you have another keyboard, you can use with the computer, try to do this. Maybe it's that one of the characters of your password is not working properly on the keyboard or the keyboard is inserting extra spaces or something else that makes you think that you enter won't be not what you're really in.

Unfortunately, if this does not work in this case the only option, we can suggest is to restore the system to factory conditions (or do a clean install). But too late for this time, next time create more than one administrator account in order to have a backup in case something like this happens again. A new installation will create a new administrator account. It allows to do some backups to avoid that from happening.

I'm sorry, that we cannot do more to help.

    Good luck and best wishes!

  • Table of Flashback and the movement of the line!

    Hello Experts,

I have a doubt in the next box.

Movement of the line must be activated for all tables to be able to use the Flashback table feature unless you are flashing back the table TO BEFORE DROP . According to my understanding, you can not enable Row movement for a table that is not partitioned. This finish not FLASHBACK table with activated line movement, you can and you can't activate a movement row for a table that is not partitioned.  So, how can I use FLASHBACK table to NOT partitioned table function?

Please see the error message when I tried to enable ROW movement for a non-partitioned table below.

SQL error: ORA-14066: illegal option for a not partitioned index organized table

These options are: ENABLE ROW MOVEMENT and DISABLE ROW.

    Thank you

No - your question is about FLASHBACK and IOT.

So, how can I use FLASHBACK table to NOT partitioned table function?

I have already posted the link to doc as telss you that you cannot enable row movement for a not partitioned IOT.

View sample data for this table (in the form of INSERT statements) and queries, DML and FLASHBACK that you try to use this table that is a failure.

  • Simple IOS VPN IPsec HUB and Spoke failover HUB

    Hi all

I have a nd architecture VPN Hub spoke with Asit, IKEv1 and IPsec.

My hub is connected to a single service provider.

I wish I had a hardware redundancy for my hub.

Instead of creating a double tunnel in each Department, I would like to use my router 4000ISR failover protocol.

Is it possible to simply achieve?

If I use IOS IPsec failover that I need to deploy my changes on the two router or (such as ASA) I can set the active router and allow the watch to receive the chenges?

    Thanks to you all.

    Johnny

If your ISP connection is one that has a routed block and you can connect two routers same in it, you can then configure HSRP.

The source of the Tunnel becomes the HSRP address.  Rays may not know that there are two routers.

    Easy failover.

Alternatively, you can have a single tunnel with hubs double (if you do not use HSRP).  You don't have to borrow the double tunnels.

  • NIC teaming on ESX 5.1 and NGC failover

    Hi all

A quick question. I know I read it before, but I can't find the reference again once. What is the recommended setting between allow vNic activate failover on cisco UCS and strategy setting on ESX 5.1 of the network?

I know that I had read somewhere when the grouping of network cards is configured on ESX failover authorized UCS, ESX goes haywire if a path is lost the UCS.

Our installation program running on UCS 2.04 Manager has with a mixture of blades M2 and M3 with M81kr and 1240/1280 cards respectively.

Never use a fabric with a hypervisor vswitch failover. Let the failover of the vSwitch handle network failure mechanism.

For ESX once you have two NICs attached to the vSwitch or a DVS it will automatically load balance and failover. You don't want you combine this with the UCS fabric failover.

  • With the help of Deluxe and Acceleration Pack on Windows 7 Flight Simulator

    Hi guys,.

I am sure you have had this question a thousand times. I'm an aeromedical Examiner (and have made a certain FAA exams) in the United Kingdom. In my semi retirement l just built with an expert friend a fantastic fair system for simulation of vol. I was always a fan of FSX, but never really used correctly. What a disappointment when, after buying the most recent copy, l cannot load on my Windows 7 computer. (I also have the "acceleration pack") Is not a large part of the world now run 7 (l cannot imagine what will do 8 folk) and is it possible to get it to work. I don't like to waste money but could happen again if there is a solution involving the purchase of new software, it would be a little compared to the cost of the machine.
I hope you can help me.

  • [SRP527w] Recovery and VPN failover

    Hello

Our company is using DSL routers to connect remote sites to our headquarters.
We buid VPN through ADSL, between a Zyxel USG 200 Firewall/VPN device and remote routers.

We decided to add a 3G backup connection, and we chose to test the SRP527w for this purpose.
Thanks to Andrew Hickman, who answered my questions, we build successfully an IPSEC VPN via the 3 G connection, and it works really well.

There is a problem with the failover/recovery of the VPN tunnel:

    1)
    We start the router
The SRP527w set up ADSL and build the VPN.
Fails to ADSL (we remove the power cord)
3 G starts very fast, and the WAN connection is OK (our vpn device if the internet ping)

But the VPN tunnel never comes back!

If I manually, click on 'Connect' menu VPN, it connect any!
If I look at the newspaper on my VPN device, I don't see any attempt to build the VPN.
If I re - connect ADSL, VPN connects again ADSL!

    2)
WITH EXACTLY THE SAME SETUP AND THE SAME CONFIGURATION OF VPN ON BOTH SIDES:
We start the router with ADSL cable disconnected.
The SRP527w set up the 3G and build the VPN!
We re - connect the ADSL and ADSL connects with success (our vpn Internet device ping)

But the VPN tunnel never comes back!

If I manually, click on 'Connect' menu VPN, it connect any!
If I look at the newspaper on my VPN device, I don't see any attempt to build the VPN.
If I unplug the ADSL, the VPN will connect again through 3 G!

    My configuration:

Failover and restore enabled, with delay set to 60 sec.
ADSL first, then 3 g 1 PVC enabled on ADSL.
1 IPSEC policy and 1 IKE policy, two correspondents with 1 tunnel on my VPN device (configured in "Dynamic Peer" because there is no static IP address on the 3G connection).

    Version ID: V01
    Hardware version: 4.0.0
    Version of the boot: 1.1.17
    Firmware version: 1.01.19

It's as if once the VPN is configured on the first WAN interface, it cannot be setup on the second if the first fails. Andrew, are you familiar with this issue? I'm doing it wrong somewhere?

Thank you very much for your answer.

    Hello

Thanks for the comments - it is a known issue.  We will work on a possible fix as it is possible.

    Kind regards

  • DMZ and PIX failover

    Hello

I'm pretty happy with the tipping of inside and outside interfaces - i.e. the backup PIX inherits the IP address and MAC address of the main unit. However, what about the DMZ interface? Which also inherits the IP address and MAC of the primary unit?

In a design of failover DMZ with only a couple of servers on the DMZ, you connect two PIX DMZ interfaces into a common switch (same VLAN of course!) and then plug servers?

Pretty basic questions, I don't know, but I cannot find an answer to this on cco.

    Best regards, Steve

    Hi Steve,.

Yes... DMZ interfaces inherited also the IP and MAC address of the primary PIX.

In this scenario, even if you have a server you need to plug the 2 PIX on a switch and then the server on the same VLAN... This will ensure the physical accessibility of the server at the same time PIX. In case you have only a single connection, you must change the cable manually, when a PIX fails, which is a big headache...

    I hope this helps...

  • Restore using flashback and RMAN

    Hello
If a user has removed a table and a few users of the database can use RMAN or FLASHBACK database to restore the table and users who have been abandoned without rolling the other changes in the database? My understanding is that RMAN restore to a point in time, YVERT or backup. I think that the flashback database is similar. Currently, it is what I would do:

    (1) use the last troubled basic backup and restore in another environment using expdp/impdp
    (2) I would then export the table and missing users
    (3) and import users and the missing to the troubled database table.

Is there another way to do this without using expdp/impdp only using RMAN or flashback?

    Thank you

    J

    Hello again;

You might be able to flashback tables if you are set up properly for this.

Missing users are the problem. Data Pump and Flashback will not help a deleted user if I remember correctly. But you can generate the user create from the RMAN clone database data dictionary.

    Change my answer

I think you're right - data pump will create a user has fallen. (I still like the idea in doubles, because I like working with a copy)

    Example of

    http://querydba.blogspot.com/2009/07/data-pump-utility.html

Data pump is probably the easy way to move from RMAN recovered objects back.

    expdp TABLES =.

    See - example 2-1, perform a Table-Mode export

  • Questions about Failver customer and rapid failover

have some questions about customer and quick Faiolver of Oracle Database HA failover. Before asking these questions, I want to explain my environment. Here are the details.

-We have two physical locations called "ABC" and "PQR".
    -ABC is the main site.
    -PQR is the backup site.
-In ABC, we have the database to Oracle RAC (11.2.0.2) with two nodes.
-In the PQR, we have only one stand-alone server (11.2.0.2) database with ASM. This isn't a RAC.
-Data Guard has been configured between ABC and PQR and it works as expected.
-Please note that we have a license for Active Data Guard.
-We have products of Oracle Identity Management to ABC and PQR and they will use the RAC database as a primary database that is in the CBA.
-We have not yet set up a Data Guard Broker.

We want to achieve under objectives:

    Objective 1:
    -------

Whenever primary CARS down completely, standby database becomes a primary database AUTOMATICALLY and it should allow the read/write operation.
I guess it's called 'Fast Failover'. Please let me know if I'm wrong.

    Issues related to the:

-To do this, I need to set up Data Guard Broker so that this standy database becomes primary when CARS go down completely with a power outage, planned or not.
-Let's say that CARS falls does completely, how long take Data Guard Broker do standby db as primary.
-What the client application / which is already connected to the CARS.
-Let's DB standby became as primary and after some time if RAC comes back, keep data automatically becomes the primary role of RAC?

    Objective 2:
    --------

As I explained above, all products Oracle IDM and applications to speak to the RAC database, what do know only on the RAC database, which is the main. They are not aware of the pending database.

-Whenever a client session is underway with the primary database of CARS if CARS completely falls down, we would like to wait until the client session should get transferred datbase standby without losing session information. However before that happens, standby database should become primary because the client session can perform write operations.

-Whenever a client attempts to connect to the primary CARS and assumes that the cab is completely down, we would like to expect from any client connections should are transferred pending database.
However before that happens, standby database should become primary because the client session can perform write operations.

According to my knowledge, above scenarios are called "client failver." Please let me know if I'm wrong.

    Issues related to the:
    ----------

    1. Please throw some light to reach above features.
    2. According to my understanding, before customer failover happens, fast failover expected has already occurred and ensure should get the switch for the main role. I guess that all this happens thanks to timeout settings. What are those.

    Could you please help?

    Thank you

I didn't say that clients cannot reconnect automatically when primary fails: I meant that client sessions can generally reconnect and also keep any session state.

Yes, they can reconnect but only to keep the session state for a SELECT statement. It is also possible with Data Guard, not only in the CARS I wrote: here's a demo with 10 g
    http://uhesse.WordPress.com/2009/08/19/connect-time-failover-transparent-application-failover-for-Data-Guard/.
What is not possible is to maintain a session state: (INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE) pending transactions must be cancelled.

  • BASIC and PRECONNECT failover methods

    Version: 10.2.0.4, 11.2

That's what documentation says BASIC and PRECONNECT

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B28359_01/network.111/b28316/advcfg.htm#i471200
basic: Set to establish connections at failover time. This option requires almost no work on the backup server until failover time.

preconnect: Set to pre-established connections. This provides faster failover but requires that the backup instance be able to support all connections from every supported instance.
So, if I configure PRECONNECT to a customer, then for each session created by this session a backup session is created (Preconnected) to another node. This means that, if the customer creates 100 sessions with the Node1, and then another 100 backup sessions will be connected to Node2 (backup instance). Right?

These pre-processed sessions will appear in v$ session of the Forum of backup? If so, how can I determine if an entry in V$ SESSION is actually a backup session (Preconnected)?

  • Force10 VLT and fast failover

Forgive me if this belongs somewhere else, but I couldn't find a Force10 forum. We have a pair of 4820 t configured as an area of VLT. Our "leaves" are Dell 5548 s and 6224 s connected via gal to 4820 t "thorns". It seems, in a failure scenario, can we get our paths to the top 7-8 seconds. In one of the white papers, they showed 1.5 dry path recoveries. What is the determining factor to get a quick recovery? We have time Hello RSTP etc composed as low they can go on the PowerConnects FWIW. Is there something else to say LACP, etc. that we missed causing the recovery of the slow lane?

We've thought of it. It turns out that it was the Hello time in RSTP. Setting the time Hello dry a.5 we did one Force10 whitepapers described. It turns out that it's bad. The PowerConnects were both Hello 2 (the default protocol) and could not be defined as low as 0.5. Once we put the Force10s both Hello 2, everyone was happy. 700ms failovers were had by all.
