Flashing folder

My MacBook Pro (early 2012, 13 ", with latest OS X before El Capitan, 8 GB of RAM, 1 TB HD?)  all of a sudden is gone belly up. Sunday, I started working on it at home, Monday morning at work I do absolutely no response. I forced a reboot, but was welcomed by the grey folder flashing with an exclamation mark.

DiskWarrior shows the Base OS X system but not my HD volume name. I can't rebuild the Base system directory because it's the startup disk (so he says).

What I've tried so far:

* Reboot into single user Mode (does not work)

* Restart in Safe Mode (does not work)

* Reboot in Recovery Mode (starts but HD not visible)

* Restart in target disk Mode (does not work)

* run DiskWarrior into Recovery Mode (only shows OS X Base but doesn't let me do anything)

* boot from an external drive and try DiskWarrior (identical) and DriveGenius (non-visible HD) 3

That's happened?

How can I get my back HD view?

What program can I use to get my HD? I saved it on a Cloud Computing service, but I don't want to just roll. It is a challenge and I want to overcome.

Can I still consider this HD to be reliable. I already bought his replacement (a SSD).

Ultimately I'm not crack open my MBP to install the SSD after I restored my backup to it.

* sigh

1. hard drive seems to have died, but can have dislocation inside the computer.

2. you can not.

3. No. A professional data recovery service may be able to recover the data, but it is not a way to restore the drive; in the event that a different component has become disconnected or has failed, it requires a repair.

4. No, except as described in the #1.

  • MacBook Pro will not initialize. Question Mark flashing folder

-Macbook Pro 13 "Unibody model 2009

    Hi guys,.

I have been a frequent visitor to the community of support here, but I'm a poster for the first time, so please forgive any lack of post I suffer from the label. I saw this problem here much and seem me to always see the same advice to fix, but I have never seen anyone who treat the same symptoms I had with my camera.

My question all started when I tried to save something for the reader, and he said to me "you are not allowed to save this destination" (something to that effect). Then it progressed to a question on my Macbook to spontaneous freezing. It would freeze just constantly and I always have to force offshore. When I would try to start the machine up, it's always 50-50 chance that it should start successfully, often welcomed by the famous question mark flashing folder. I constantly by visiting an Apple store for the last year and a half on this topic and after countless visits, they insist that there is no problem that they can find. They always say down to "permission error", problems of BONE that have been resolved by resettlement and a faulty hard drive. I've dealt with them during this period and and still have this machine properly repaired on any occasion. The problem persists always just after I take the machine home and start right away, its still there.

As time went on this issue, I noticed that the machine would often freezing when moved, for example moved a table at my knees etc. This has some time until that I have raised to clean the table under one day and then tried to do turn on and nothing. The machine refused to start, only to give me the question mark flashing folder. I tried to boot into recovery mode by using CMD - R and tried to reinstall the OSX, I read that it is a common solution, but whenever I start recovery mode "Macintosh HD" is not where. So I can't even try a reinstall of OSX.

A man IT in my former work place had examined this issue before on another machine, and he said he had replaced the cable of HDD of the machines as the previous was damaged. When toggled, he said that the machine was working fine. It would be logical, as if the cable is already damaged and loose, I'm sure that the movement might just disconnect. I raise this issue because it is of NEVER once offered all the time, I in dealing with this issue and on further investigation in the apple forums and this seems to be a very common problem.

This appeared on a boot up once and never since.

And that's what I see at every boot up to now.

I'm sorry to bombard all the world with so much information on this subject, but my frustration is quickly turning into madness on this issue, which have no one at Apple after countless visits being able to fix the problem. As it is the main culprit for me, the HARD disk cable, but I would not assume know better that some of you have known many more people.

Any information or help that guys could pass my way would be greatly appreciated I was apparently no help from Apple repair personnel. If you have read and thought about all this I applaud you and owe you a drink at the mercy.

    Hi Yogi Wynne:

I agree with your friend IT. Looks like the SATA hard drive cable has problems.

The inside of your computer is not as smooth on the outside and rubs it hard against the SATA cable and can cause one of the traces in the short cable is causing hard drive problems.

Here's where you can get a replacement cable, they are very fragile. https://www.iFixit.com/store/Mac/MacBook-Pro-13-inch-unibody-mid-2009-mid-2010-H ard-car-Cable/IF163-013-1

I might change the SATA cable and see if the problem persists.

  • MacBook boot, shows flashing folder after 1 minute

I recently bought a MacBook A1181 2007 model, and it does not start.

When I press the power button, I get a white screen, and I hear noise from Apple as well as the CD player starts, make a little noise. Initially, the HARD drive makes a terrible noise, but I replaced it, thinking that would like to fix the no start problem, but it didn't. There is no more noise. After about 1 minute on the white screen, I get a folder flashing with an exclamation mark. If I press "C" key, it will show this folder, only does not blink.

I pressed 'option' when you start trying to get to the recovery screen, and right, which shows a cursor after a few seconds and nothing else. I tried just about every combination of keys that I read on, and none of them work.

I tried to remove the memory modules, and there is no difference. With or installed, the computer not turn on, instead the white power light illuminated and no more.

I need a recovery disc or something? How can I get the laptop to boot?

Your MacBook is trying to find OS X, however, is not able to find it.

If Windows object to save the changes because of permissions, try this way:

    (1) in a window of my computer or Windows Explorer, open this folder:

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

If this folder does not exist, then you are using 32-bit Windows, and you can open the following folder instead:

    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash

(Note: this folder exists on Windows 32-bit and 64-bit, but on 64-bit Windows Firefox use the Flash player in the place SysWOW64 folder.)

    (2) check a file named mms.cfg:

    (A) If mms.cfg exists, drag it in your Documents folder , where you can change it without being bothered on administrator privileges

    (B) If there is no such thing as mms.cfg open your Documents folder, right click > new > text file and the name of the new file mms.cfg

    (3) mms.cfg Documents opened in a text editor such as Notepad. Add this on its own line (I have the latter):

    ProtectedMode=0

Save the file and close Notepad.

    (4) press and hold the Ctrl and the mms.cfg file reglisser to the Flash folder to make a copy, keep the original documents

This change should take effect the next time you restart Firefox (allow a few minutes for all the Flash of the processes in memory to terminate right out of Firefox).

I restarted my computer this morning, as he ran a little slugglish. Restarting launched as well an update of Firefox and a Flash update to newer versions. t keeps saying that I need newer Adobe flash player version when I already have the end that is available

The cause is often that there is always a file from a previous version which should have been deleted, but was not perhaps because Flash was in use at the time.

    Please navigate to this folder:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash

In the Flash folder, there should only be a .ocx type file, which should be as follows for the latest version:

    Flash32_11_3_300_271.ocx

The figures in bold represent the version: 11.3.300.271

If you have a different 'Flash32_xx_x_xx_xxx. ocx"file which the numbers correspond with earlier versions of flash, and then delete this file and restart the machine.  The new version should then recognized.

    Hello

I push myself a little crazy by an error message which began this afternoon.  I use a program called Activstudio and until today it worked fine.  This morning I went to update the flashplayer from adobe on my system and uninstalled the existing adobe products.  Now, I get an error message that says that this version of windows does not have the file flash.ocx that is required to run the program.  I have installed and uninstalled adobe Flash Player and shockwave player on a number of occasions now, I also searched on the net for about 4 hours to try the tips people gave for similar problems.  A good idea to copy the file flash.ocx and rebonding it in the c: windows\system32\macromed\flash folder, but the file flash.ocx does not exist so I can't do that.  I even downloaded the file flash.ocx by himself and place it in the folder, but nothing seems to work...  I don't have the original to the program software CD as it is a program I have given by a school for educational purposes...

any help would be very welcome because I can't access one of my lessons...

    Hi neeny468,

Try the system restore and verify the result. If this does not help, then you will need to get the software to reinstall the program successfully.
Step 1: Restore the computer to an earlier time when it was working fine
    a. Click Start, type system restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
    b. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
    c. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    d. click Finish.
    e. restart the computer and check if the problem persists.

  • Windows 8 deletion SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

    All,

It is quite technical, however, I don't have a win8 or 8.1 to test this on so I need help to understand the answers. (win8 is horrible even 8.1 is nothing I would never buy)

I understand Adobe recommend to not delete the SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\*.* files, and that MS is responsible for updates to flash in windows versions 8 and IE10.

I know that in windows 7 is architecture these files in the windows system folder are recreated by the adobe Installer. I also know that the NAPI and ActiveX files live in this folder as well as C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash.

    (1) the installer for ActiveX and NAPI adobe has the opportunity to write files in this folder?

    (2) where the NAPI direct flash files to?

    (3) do IE any version by winning 8 or 8.1 use ActiveX Flash to run or is it some flash updated the file needed?

    (4) assuming 3 is true, this would happen if these files are deleted on a win8 or win8.1 and programs complete msi installation of: Adobe Flash Player Distribution. Adobe are used to install a version activeX, not the folder structure and files would get installed/created or are the unique files activeX because MS is being a pain?

I'm trying t clear this place that I'm working on a process automated to install the latest versions without causing problems that users can DL and make the process easy and painless. I got it down without flaw for win7, but need some more info on 8.

I'm not really of what is recommended, I am looking for real practical examples and the results of deleting files and re - install with msi versions, unless recommendations have been fully tested to 100%, maybe someone who did this and tried to use full msi installers, and had to be success , or failure in IE on win 8 x works or not?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Carm01,

Microsoft integrates Flash Player in Internet Explorer on Windows 8.x and higher.  As such, they see the Flash Player ActiveX, file system files and advise you not to remove them, including the \Macromed\Flash directory.  I heard some people remove the ActiveX files and the directory (using some utilities to 3rd unlocker to unlock the files/directory, as Microsoft locks these files on Windows 8.x) and the result was that they ended up having to reinstall the operating system to fix the problem, they created.

    For your other questions:

1 - given that Microsoft integrated Flash Player ActiveX in Windows 8, Flash Player ActiveX standalone (EXE or MSI) Setup didn't run on Windows machine 8.x.  NPAPI and Installer PPAPI write to this folder.

live 2 - NPAPI and PPAPI files in the same directory: \Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash.  If the 64-bit operating system, also live in \Windows\SysWow64\Macromed\Flash.

    3. all versions of IE on Windows 8.x use the ActiveX player incorporated by Microsoft.  Cannot delete the embedded version and the standalone ActiveX Installer will not run on Windows 8.x systems.

    4. If you manually remove the ActiveX, or the Macromed\Flash folder setup you will very probably end up re - install the operating system.  No standalone ActiveX installation programs run on Windows 8.x.  Microsoft considers the Flash Player ActiveX files incorporated as system files and doesn't want users to delete because of the problems, it creates by.  That's why Adobe recommends to delete ActiveX and \Macromed\Flash 8.x Windows directory files.

    Hope that answers your questions.

  • 25 Firefox on Windows 7: Flash 11.9.900.117 freezes Firefox

I've done the diagnosis proposed by Mozilla https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/Firefox-hangs-or-not-responding

Firefox works fine, but as soon as any content Flash is running Firefox crashes and I have to close the process in Windows Task Manager.

I can't go into the Flash settings and disable hardware acceleration for Flash crashes Firefox completely before.

Could you try disabling hardware acceleration via the file mms.cfg on your system?

It will be located in your C:\windows\syswow64\macromed\flash folder (assuming you are using a 64-bit version of Windows).  Simply open the file mms.cfg with a text editor and add the following line:

    DisableHardwareAcceleration = 1

Save the file and try again.

If this fails, I would go back to Flash Player 11.7 until this can be resolved.

Where can I find direct downloads of Flash Player 11.7 for Windows or Macintosh?

  • Is there a page of archive for the Flash Player plugins for PORTABLE versions of the web browsers?

Is there a page of archive for downloads installers for Flash Player plugin for PORTABLE versions of web browsers like Firefox ESR?

One of my web browsers is Firefox ESR 10.0.7 and is a PORTABLE of Firefox version that apparently needs a different Flash Player plugin that the plugin Flash Player normal requiring regular versions of most web browsers.

I don't want to install the most recent PORTABLE Flash Player plugin version because I read about the problems with it and it is the only capable version this ESR Firefox will give me the opportunity to download and install when I try to install the plugin Flash Player necessary through the browser.

I already know about the page archive plugin Adobe Flash Player normal, below, the link, but who don't have the Flash Player plugins for MOBILE web browsers.

    http://helpx.Adobe.com/Flash-Player/KB/archived-Flash-Player-versions.html

I also looked on OldApps.com and I couldn't find anything there.

Where can I download an older version, maybe one of the plugins Flash Player 11.2 to round April 2012, that will work with this version of PORTABLE Firefox ESR?

I tried this question in the forum of Mozilla Firefox Help, but no one could answer.

    Thanks for any help,

    digiday

I met the same problem with the version of portable Firefox, I've tried.  I found myself ignoring the record (with the text file) that they have provided and created my own folder 'plugins' alongside firefox executable.

As to why I went with 10.3 11.4, it was mainly because we added in Flash Player 11.3 protected mode.  While this might work (it didn't on my first attempt), it adds a layer of complexity that I didn't want to face.  If you need some of the new features of 11.x, then you have to play with it to see if you can get this to work.  One thing to try would be to modify the mms.cfg by disabling the protected-mode, however, I do not know if this file is accessible outside your windows\system32\macromed\flash folder.

You can find all versions of 10.3 here: where can I find direct downloads of Flash Player 10.3 for Windows or Macintosh?
