  We were using Flex 3.0.1 SDK + Flex Builder 3.0.1 combination and worked very well. Then due to some other business requirements had to upgrade the Flex SDK 3.5.0. Now the problem that we face is that the old Flex Builder 3.0.1 is not compatible with the new SDK (version 3.5.0).

  
  What is the solution? Is there a Flex Builder compatible with Flex 3.5 SDK available... I googled a bit, but failed. Is there any necessary changes in Flex Builder 3.0 files?

  Any eventual solution will be really useful. Thanks in advance.

  Have you tried to update Flex Builder 3.0.2 and then using Flex SDK 3.5?

• How to use Mozilla, when you click on run Application in Flex Builder

  I have Mozilla FireFox and IE installed on my Machine, the problem is that every time I run the icon run the Application, the view gets posted on the IE.

  I don't want to use it is to say that I have problems with regard to the Flex Application profiling.

  Please let me know how is possible to set the Mozilla for are displayed when Flex Builder runs the Application.

• Adobe Flex builder 3 crashes

  Whenever I try to do a simple program, flex builder 3.0 firm and gives the error, as shown in the file attached. Can anyone more closely and suggest me to fix this problem.

  To uninstall everything related to Java on your machine, then uninstall and reinstall Flex Builder.

• How better to organize Flex Builder projects within a source code control system?

  I'm working on a team of average size of a company product developers who will use Flex on the front-end, remote access services for Java objects on the server, etc.

  Right now, I just created a sample application with a Flex Builder in Eclipse project and the use of WTP.

  I'm looking for advice or suggestions on the best way to organize a large Flex/Java project for the team with subversion, etc.

  Is it wise to record all of the Flex Builder project (i.e. files properties etc..)?  Our development environments will be identical, because they will be the virtual computer images.

  I did a lot of research and found a few bites, but I thought I'd see if I could get feedback from other people who have experience with this or are organizing their code source etc.

  1. Yes. Note that once Java and Flex in the same project, I first had to create a Java project, and then something like Flex Project Nature > add Flex Project Nature. Try to do the reverse (start with a Flex project and add the Java code) worked for me.

  2. it's been great. Franck Wolff, the lead developer, has been very sensitive on their forum (even with stupid questions that were actually my fault). He added that some requested features for as3 Enums, and overall we were pretty happy. We do not actually use the fanciful granite features (other than his actionscript generator gas3 of objects for the AMF client-side); We use it mostly just because we moved to her before the Blaze. However, we have no intention to the flame.

  3. Yes, throw us just jars of granite in our war, although maybe this isn't the right thing for everyone. We have a heavy enough demand, so we can dominate the server simply assume. • Connection problem with the database, the closure of Flex Builder

  I developed a web page that connects to a database, reads data and it shows on the screen. I use HTTPService to connect to a php server that supports MySQL data. Everything is OK when I run the Flex Builder web page, but when I run the page doing double click on the file released .html the connection fails and the program generates this error:

  Previously, I also faced the same problem when working with Php as the Backend, the problem is that Flex does not call your PHP page

  It is the way I solved it to export your Flex Project at Flex Release Build.

  Right click on the export of project---> Flex project---> Release Build---> copy all the files on your server where all of your PHP files are and then call the application from the browser

• Installation of Flash builder 4 has somehow broken my launch of running/debugging/profiling of flex builder 3.

  After installing Flash builder 4 neither to him nor to flex builder 3 has been able to launch flex swf:s. After hitting to run or debug flex gives a prompt saying "Flash Player is not found. Flex builder cannot locate the required version of Flash Player. You need to maybe install Flash Player 9 or reinstall Flex Builder.   Now, if I click Yes it launch command prompt with a path to the installation folder of flex 3 Builder. When running flash builder 4, same happens except the path is the folder of installation of flash builder 4. Flex then begins waiting for connection of the debugger, and after awhile, he invites a timeout message. The title of command prompts is... \workspace\project\bin-debug\filename.swf.

  When you open the SWFs directly from windows, they open fine.

  I used the uninstaller for flash player software and recovered both fp9 & 10 and reinstalled the. That did not help. When we browser everything works fine, the problem occurs only when you launch standalone player. I tried to check the registry settings if there is something wrong, but all the flashplayers paths seem to be ok.

  Is there another hope to solve this problem than to reinstall flex builder 3 and flash builder 4 from scratch?

  I've seen a ton of articles discussing the decision to Adobe for renaming Flex Builder to "Flash Builder" for version 4.0 and wanted to see what you all think.

  Personally, I agree with a lot of blog comments that it's a bad move.

  Flex apps are not Flash applications (fortunately), they just happen to run into the same runtime (Flash Player). AIR applications are not Flash apps as well.

  I still think that Flex will succeed, but you all are eagerly working in Flash Builder 4?

  I hope Flex continues to succeed despite this movement.

  Honestly, I don't think that it has nothing to do with 'big picture '. It's just a strategy of marketing at low cost. I don't really like it it is called until they maintain Flex in there and don't start messing around with it (in the negative sense). If they do go crazy and decide (one day) to Flex up-side-down so I'm sure they will lose a big chunk of the existing community.

  All these changes are wrapped up in a pretty box, called: "the image of the greatest", but in reality, they only create more confusion. Instead of focusing on marketing (which is of course an aspect important also, but still, I think that they really are not planning these releases seriously) and other things that didn't matter to the people who are making money with the help of technologies provided by Adobe and at the same time, they bring money to Adobe by buying licenses and do free advertising often enough , they must work on the debugger and the things that we finally get a mature IDE for development (just to compare Visual Studio with Flex Builder - in that rhythm, when do you think that Adobe will be able to get an IDE as mature than Visual Studio and effectively?). If he sees no cela (or can't understand there is a huge need of a more effective and more mature IDE) and they will continue to put more effort into the marketing side rather than actually focusing on the needs of developers, so they're going to lose a lot in the long run.

  I'm really curious to see how the new constructor behaves (and I really hope that when they said: we will make the most efficient compiler, fix the bugs and stuff like that, they meant really; because if the new version of the generator will be just a 'brilliant on the body even old dress' with 2-3 minor corrections here and there) then I'll be very disappointed).

  Just my 5 cents.

  EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the guys at Adobe are not putting the effort in the IDE, but I think that the marketing aspects are more important that to really make the IDE works as it should. Too many releases, too many changes of names, too much nonsense that would not have the same important if they make serious measures with the IDE and reach a more decent level (I don't want to even mention the tools to draw UML diagrams for AS/Flex/AIR applications are almost nonexistent, and those that exist are a really poor quality).

• Flex Builder 2 - project CF problem

  I cannot create a project in Flex using ColdFusion Flash Remoting Service as server technology...
  
  I just installed both ColdFusion and Flex Builder...
  
  I create a new project from scratch and select the ColdFusion Flash Remoting Service as server technology. Then, I get the following error:
  "Invalid server root. The server root must contain a WEB-INF/flex folder.
  and can not continue... I have a wwwroot/WEB-INF structure with no flex record...
  
  any suggestions as to why? or what / where I have gone wrong?

  Looks like you don't have the 7.0.2 update applied to ColdFusion. You can check this in your ColdFusion administrator under the "System information" link at the top. You want a version under "Server Details" that looks like 7,0,2...

• Difference between Flex 2 SDK and Flex Builder 2

  IM new to Flex platform.
  has previously worked on Flash AS2.
  I would switch to Flex.
  So, how should I start?

  The Flex SDK kit is the strict minimum necessary to develop a Flex application: compilers and libraries of components. With the SDK, you will need to use your own text editor, and then manually run the compiler. It's awkward, but at least it's free. I would not recommend this approach (to someone).

  Flex Builder 2 is an IDE for developing Flex applications. Under the hood, it uses the SDK, but most of the gory details are hidden on your part really, it streamlines the development process with Visual authoring tools, code completion, etc. It costs money, but if you're serious about Flex development, it is worth the cost. It has a 30 day free trial, to take it for a spin.

  You don't need BEA Workshop or IBM Rational Software. I think it means that you can install the plugin eclipse/BEA Workshop on top of Flex Builder/IBM Rational Software.

  If you choose to Flex Builder standalone, then you have even eclipse. If you choose Flex Builder Plug-ins you need eclipse.

• Flex builder and 1120 error messages

  Problem:
  At any given time in my Flex application, when I create a new container/button/whatever and give it an ID, and then use this ID later in some functions, Flex gives me Error 1120 and said that this ID is not defined.
  
  All the ID:s that I created before this 'point' are working properly.
  
  for example, I have a textinput with ID = 'test '.
  
  Then I have a function that uses the value of test.text to something. Works very well.
  
  Then after that is the problem, I create an another textinput with ID = 'test2' at the same place. And then try to access the same place where worked - the first test2.text - value - and flex commits an error that says test2 is not defined.
  
  Even you, everything works still, the function gets the value of test2.text access and all is well. Set it's frusthrating to have 40 useless error and then when there is a real mistake, it's a pain the * trying to find.
  
  It comes to Flex builder 3, and I remember that my Flex builder 2 did the same thing with a project.
  
  Someone at - it indexes?

  Strange. It occurred in two different .as-files I have included in the beginning of the application. When I made a copy of the files with names different two problem and included instead of the issues, the errors disappeared! Yay.

  Still, it would be nice to know why the mistakes were there on the first point :)

• Incorporate the compc Flex Builder 3 vs paths

  We have a large project that we need to create an automatic version. We have several different packages who have classes using the Embed metatag to include resources from an active file. We don't have any errors during the construction of our library with FlexBuilder3 Flex project, but when we build using compc it fails with an "unable to solve [file] for transcoding. If you copy our current folder to the folder where our class then the error disappears. It seems the the FlexBuilder resolves the path from the root of the project while compc he decides the location of the class. Y at - it an explanation for this contradiction?

  I am developing AIR application that connects to the third party through FluorineFx dll. I have FluorineFx Service running. Now the problem is that when I'm trying to run the AIR application in Flex Builder 3 I get following error: "Channel definition, mx.messaging.channels.RTMPChannel, cannot be found. Anyone know what that could be the reason and how to fix it?
