Flow text across columns and pages

Finally have a new version of my photo book.

Each image is accompanied by a text in the paragraph called Description, legend and owner styles.

Legend and owner appear connected as a single line of text under the picture.

Description is a more detailed discussion, to be published in a table of contents called descriptive content, towards the end of the book. Each description is co-located with its image of parent for continuity and portability, where an image is moved to another page, etc. Upon publication, the co-habitant copy of the image to be hidden.

Because the table of contents entries have their own style, I expect that hide the co-habitant description text allows the corresponding entry in the table of contents to persist, but does not occur.  Table of contents Description entries are being hidden with co-located versions. I'm scratching my head to find a better approach for this.

Each table of contents entry starts with the number of page, followed by the caption and Description.

In the table of contents is generated, the Description appears as a new paragraph with the page number. In this case, I need overcome the page number display entirely. Best I can do right now is to have the number followed by page description.

Two questions:

1 - could you one of you point me to an example of a macro or script routine that can be a part of the materials-generator table, that traverses all table of contents entries and removes the unwanted ending page number. Or you could take me to a workflow to get this done better.

2 could you show me how to format table of contents entries only. that is, to avoid her inherit a property 'hidden' in the source text? Or is there a better way to do this?

1, the table of contents entries is to have a page number. Just click the show more Options in the dialog Table of contents and the value of the drop-down list number to no page number.

2, as I understand it, you can set a style for the table of contents entries, do not use the style from the paragraph in the text.

    See if any of your paragraph styles have "Keep with next paragraph" it turned on or keep all options are applied to all.

    To see if this is the case check to keep Options paragraph Styles or select text that happens on press CMD-CTRL + ALT + K

    Hey Mini,

    To change the alignment on the fly, you need a change in your IR and javascript.

    First change the columns that you want to change the alignment for. Add the following code in The HTML Expression in the column formatting part. (Detail of the column)

    #HERE _THE_COLUMN_NAME#
    

    Then you can change the easy alignment for these areas with the following code

    $(".align_style").css("text-align","left")
    

    This can be in a DA, or just on the loading of the page.

  • Long text flowing incorrectly on the next page field

    Hi guys,.

    I checked the "allow Page Breaks in content" in a subform. I include a field of text in the subform and checked "Allow multiple lines" so if long text cannot fit in the text field in a page, it will continue to the next page. The problem is now in the second page content is not continue from the first page, but it is to copy the content of the first page.

    For example: 8 lines must be inserted in the text field. Only 5 lines can fit into the text box on first page. Then the line 6-8 should continue on the second page. Yes, the text field has 3 lines on the second page, but not line 6-8, it copies the line 1-3 on the first page.

    Anyone has any experience on this or can anyone help me?

    Here is the difference:

    • Standard report column: this is used when your column in the SQL query returns the HTML markup. For example the query SQL with APEX_ITEM API columns or columns where you have mixed data in the column with the markup. In short, APEX rendering engine treats the column as HTML markup and analysis accordingly to display the required HTML element.
    • Display text (escape special characters): this type analysis the column data in the form of data stored in the database (no HTML). During analysis if the data contains special characters then it escapes and displays the data.

    Yes, you can mix the manual in the form of built on APEX_ITEM with normal standard report (display text) columns.

  • Captivate 8 does not "apply text and properties of text across all views."

    I want to have my text properties 'reset' overall views that I read in Captivate 8 is possible. The function States help Adobe:

    "You can now reset the properties of reactive text items or update all views to match the properties of the currently selected text element. To apply the text and properties of text across all points of view, the context menu is provided. This setting relink objects through points of view in the projects of reactive nature. »


    However, when I right click on my text from the caption of the fly out menu doesn't have this option. I have attached a picture of what looks like the fly on the menu. Any ideas how I can 'reset' after you move things around?Screen Shot 2014-10-15 at 10.57.39 PM.png

    I work with an old educational version of InDesign, trying to put a box/page border (using the rectangle tool; no fill) round a page in a book resource, but the text will not display... figure shows, but the text will not be little matter what I do... I tried arranging, layers, but can't make it work. What I am doing wrong? I never had this problem with PageMaker.

    If you go to object > text frame Options you can put a check mark next to "Ignore the text of not dress" for this image (assuming that you have need of the other text wrap on the page).

  • Columns in Pages

    I want to translate text and therefor I want to insert 2 columns in a Pages document, so that the original text in the first column and the second (right most) the translated text.

    When the columns are filled with text, the overflow goes up > down and from left to right. Then the next page up > down and left to right etc. What I want to accomplish, it's that my text remains in the column where I started it and all that it has length. A text box is also not possible, because it is not automatically adapt to the length of the text, and it remains on the page where it could / created.

    Is this possible?

    Columns in the Pages are not independent, and text flows from the first in the second and on a page break, second text column first runs into the first column on the new page. Instead, you must use a two-column table that overflows the page boundaries. Content in the individual table columns will remain in these columns in the following pages.

    With the table selected, visit tab reorganize Panel Format and define the Placement of the object to move the text and the text wraps Inline with the text. This will allow the table to overflow the page limit. In the text of the table tab, there will be an option to return the text in the cell, so that your text will end if necessary. You can also remove all grids table if that is your case of presentation. The view menu: see available that will help to position the contents of your table.

    I'm creating a brochure in two columns in InDesign CS3. I would like to put some text in a column. However, when I try to place text in a column, the text does not align with the edge of the column and instead of it, is placed in a large text box that spans the width of the page. How can I make text go in one of the columns? Is there a setting that I need to have chosen?

    I'm still new to this program, so any help would be appreciated.

    I use InDesign CS4. I created a master page from left and right - each master page has two text blocks.     (1) make sure that the subform/Page parent in which you have repeating field has the content value sank
