For Dimension 2400 RAM upgrade

I have a Dimension 2400, P4 2.8 ghz with 256 MB of RAM that appears on the card 256 MB 333 MHZ DDR MEMORY (1 X 256) NONECC technical, it is not enough, so I plan on getting 2 x 512. I checked with critical and they are listing 2 different types of 512 RAM - 333 mhz (PC2700) and 400 mhz (PC3200). I was wondering if buying 400 mhz RAM would make a difference in performance or if 400 mhz is even compatible?

Thank you!

  • Pls help me to upgrade memory of 512 MB for Dimension 2400

I used the Dell Profiler information and bought a memory card of 1 GB of Dell Online for my Dimension 2400.  Now, I'm ready to install, but the technical specifications. information on the Dimension 2400 implies it will be inconsistent.  Now, I think I should have bought a 512 MB card and installed instead for a total of two cards of RAM 512 each.  Now that I have the 1 GB, could I install and remove the 512 standard which came installed?  Install the 1 GB in addition to the stock 512 MB card?  TY in advance.

  • Dimension 2400 memory upgrade now, I have no monitor?

Hello everyone and thank you for being here to help. My son has a Dimension 2400 w / 34GB of hard disk, which is currently at the maximum. It has 384 MB of RAM. 128 in DIMM1 and DIMM2 in 256. I went to BB today and bought a new stick of 512 MB PNY that I swapped the 128 for. Everything seemed to go well. A few hours later when my son went to use the PC the monitors stand by orange light was on and no picture. The first press there is no answer. A second try the monitor off, when I turned it back on it went green for a moment and then clicked on return to orange, still no picture.

I double checked all the connections and everything seems to be okay. When I removed the cable from the monitor, I heard some no clicks from the monitor, always good, no picture. I turned off the pc and reboot, still nothing. However the pc would not then shut down. I then turned off through the throttle, but when I repowered it, the pc came back. Still could not turn off so I unplugged it for now. Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Thank you!

  • Options for Satellite U200 RAM upgrade

    Hello

I read a few posts here, but I'm a noob of material and you want to be absolutely sure I chose the right RAM module.

I want to be exactly if the module I buy will work with my computer laptop u200 (especially not the damage, if that's even possible).

    I'm looking at _Kingston 2 GB 200 pin PC2-5300 DDR2 SODIMM_

    Found here:

Please let me know if you need more details.

    Thank you!

    Hello

According to specification for laptop, your laptop uses the module DDR2 - 533 MHz RAM. There's Kingston 667 MHz, but it will work on your laptop without problem.

So, but there is something else: I don't know which U200 you but it seems to be that your laptop can be upgraded up to 2 GB max. So, in my opinion, you should buy two 1 GB Rams. If you want to buy tested one, to check for the DDR2-533 1 GB with PA3411U-2M1G part number.

  • Dimension 2400 - two upgrades and two questions/problems

So finally had time to update this old thing.  Did some research and found what was compatible. Bought a ram and a video card. Now since their installation for the most part unsuccessful I have questions:

    RAM

I bought a 2x1GB corsair because I read that 2 GB is the maximum computers. When I install both the computer refuses to start, but with one of the privateers and the original dell computer piece works very well (and much improved, I might add). Every they say 1024Mo, if that helps. also do I need to update the BIOS? After the installation, read this should perhaps have been made beforehand.

    VIDEO CARD

I also bought the nvidea gforce 5500. I followed the instructions to a T with respect to disabling the dell one printer and changed the setting to the start screen.  Then after installing the card and rebooting the machine, I get nothing on the screen.  I read somewhere that this could be a prob of resources? not sure why tho since this thing is also supposed to be compatible.

OK thnx in advance everyone, sry if they were invited to a million times, but I don't see all the answers that helped me understand how to go about fixing these issues.

  • New HP 2011 x 20 '' LED monitor for old Dell Dimension 2400. necessary graphics card?

My in-laws have an old Dell Dimension 2400 and the monitor exploded. I bought a new HP 2011 x 20 '' LED monitor. My WIRE went to set up, and he tells her that a HMDI graphics card is required.

This is a pretty old computer. I think he might have as... 512 MB of RAM. Is there an inexpensive graphics card that will meet their needs?

And besides, when they buy the graphics card, are there all the cables that they must reach a new monitor to an old computer?

    Thank you very much!

    Nice description of Dell:
Video connector to 15 holes :-)

Seems to be a VGA connector.

From the description of the monitor:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02643130
There is an also vga connector, so you will have no problem to connect the two.

No additional card is necessary, no other cable - just use the old vga cable.

Your only problem might be the resolution:
resolution 1600 x 900 set at the factory for the monitor.

I don't know if you can set the resolution to Dell, you should test.

Otherwise a 4:3 normal/old monitor would be better than this 'big screen' new.

  • The upgrade of old Dell Dimension 2400 CPU, GPU, memory, etc...

Mainly interested in CPU upgrade at this time. I have download CPU - Z to determine my profile and I provide this stitched-together set screenshots of this program:

I just put the CPU of my Dimension 5150 friend successfully. I would only reproduce on my 2400 - a much smaller machine. This computer is mainly used for the casual internet browsing, and sometimes I watch a Youtube video. The only programs that really tax the CPU are my disk defragmentation and the program CCleaner. When I have a great session of internet browsing of 100 + tabs, the CPU also emerged at this time here.

I want to the maximum this computer using cheap parts upgrades, that I can buy it on eBay. On my 5150 friend, I bought a processor upgrade for $5 delivered and a thermal paste to ebay for 80 cents. I wouldn't mind buying a cheap video card and processor to upgrade this old workhorse

    sva50233

The Dimension 2400 can use 400 MHz or 533 MHz, Socket 478, P - 4 Northwood or Celeron processor with a 512 k or more small cache.

You cannot use all processors Prescott [1 MB cache].

The maximum support of the processor is P - 4 Northwood, 533 MHz, Socket 478, 3.06 GHz.

Before upgrading the processor, make sure you have the latest version of the BIOS installed.

With regard to the video card, only the PCI cards are supported, no PCI Express card is supported.

The Dimension 2400 supports a maximum of 2 GB (2 x 1 GB Modules) memory DDR.

  • Dell Support download has some drivers for old Dimension 2400, responsible of what was there, but still have an unknown device

Hi, hard drive is dead on Dell dimension 2400, re-installed with existing win XP (SP3).  Another computer used to go to Dell support and download line that few drivers I could find for the serial number.  (Broadcom Integrated NIC, graphics controller, Modem) Drivers installed and I still have an unknown device (point yellow question mark for unknown sandwiched between the network adapters and Ports).  Wired Ethernet worked before hard drive failure - properties for Broadcom 440 x say ' device working properly ", but it will not pick up a DHCP IP.  Set the IP to the network router and can now same URL and local peripheral ping like www.google.com , but cannot get to internet with IE explore manually.

Is there any other software drivers that are found in Dell archive somewhere I need to load to remove the unknown device?

Any idea this device might be hiding between the "network adapters" and "Ports (Com and LPT)?  Appreciate any help.  Thanks, Dave

  • upgrade of dimension 2400 heatsink

No one knows what other heat sink or cooler I use in my dell dimension 2400 I can't seem to find another at all my old work well and help my computer on sleeves

I have installed a standard spare heater Socket 478 in my 2350, similar to the 2400, but lost BIOS fan control and had to install a fan controller. I have tried both a Rosewill and a Zalman 7000 ALCU.

If you're wondering, the 2400 is standard mATX case, apart from the audio before, wiring is compatible with the standard headers. Regarding the audio before, he has the standard wires and can be rewired for an ordinary 2 x 5 socket Molex, which I did with a Dimension 3000 (same chassis).

Meanwhile, the 2400 has been designed to work with the heatsink you have, then why is it overheating? Perhaps the bracket is broken and the radiator is not firmly attached to the CPU? If you need a new slice, standard Socket 478 units could operate; I replaced the broken leg in my 2350 with a new generic one from eBay.
