For Symantec Backup Exec backup scripts

Hello

Does anyone know how to change the module of integration of Backup Exec for monolithic backups.  It's create sparse backups at this moment and identification is somewhat more complicated.

Good instructions on how to restore the backup of the file partially allocated to another ESX host would be useful.

Thank you very much

Russell

DOH!  Sorry, I gave you the location for VCB 1.1, it changed to 1.5. It should be added to the following:

function AttachVMData(VMinfo, vmMoRef, createSnapshot, deleteSnapshot)

    Dear Experts,

    We recently purchased C0H19A: StoreEver HP 1/8 G2 6 - LTO Ultrium 6250 CF TapeAutoloader. The purpose is to backup of VMS data, I mean selected data in virtual machines, as for the exchange of data bases email for server accounts database SQL server etc.. We have a full VM backup plan, so using symantec backup exec software.

    We have this configuration:

    -TWO DL 380 Gen8 servers (running UPDATE2 Esxi 5.0), both servers have not all SCSI ports

    -One SINGLE HP P2000 G2 MSA FC Dual Cntrl storage

    -TWO HP SN6000 12 - pt Windows Pwr FC switch

    -HP ADF

    All them above are related to the CF. Symantec backup exec 2012 is also installed on Windows 2008 R2, which is a virtual machine.

    But now, we are unable to see the tape library autoloader through the virtualization layer in the device of machine Manager virtual backup exec. Reading on internet, I also found some details that connected FC tape drives are not supported by the Esxi hosts. We are really stuck in this situation, all the solutions to this. I also read the article from vmware saying configuration for Esxi 4.0 FC tape drives and later versions

    Installation of a physical server windows with Backup Exec 2012 and HBA and connected to above switches FC is the only way to see the ADF? Even after reading articles on the internet, I'm not clear, please guide what solution I have now to get this thing going, I really need to find solution to this.

    Waiting for answers.

    Kind regards

    Hello, I'm a Backup Exec support engineer and yes the method supported is only by connecting the tape drive to a server of physical media. • Symantec Backup Exec version free ESXi

    Hi all

    I using ESXi 5.1 free version a host and 3 windows Server 2008 R2 OS guest.

    I need to save and plan to purchase Symantec Backup Exec 2012 month next but the seller said "all backup software no ESXi free support" because API service off, so I have to buy vSphere Essentials.

    Is it factual information? If so, can you suggest me other solution?

    Thank you

    Note: Must be a Standard license for vSphere to BE 2012 properly protect guest hosted ESXi systems.

    Note: Everything is free version of ESXi (4i and 5) require a minimum of VMware license in order to be protected by Backup Exec. This is due to the lack of API vStorage to help to protect data in versions without a free license of ESXi and VMware current limiting.

  • Help - DR4000 and Symantec Backup Exec 2012

    We strive to set up a DR4000 with Symantec Backup Exec 2012 VRay Edition.

    DR4000 firmware is 1.0.1.1

    I created a new container and all NFS and CIFS permissions without restrictions. (Free access)

    When I go to add a new drive according to the storage location to BE, everything goes OK until the BE trying to access the share location when I get an authentication error.  He seems to BE trying to gain access to the share using the default service account, (which the DR4000 does not of course).

    I am a little confused because I thought that if it's full, permissions are enabled on the actions of DR4000, then it does not matter which account is used.

    There is also no documentation on how to implement the DR4000 and BE with storage devices open that apparently two support, but all the examples I've seen ignores OSD and uses just a disk path leaves ordinary.

    We are stuck with shiny new Dell and DR4000 backup server and no way to use them.

    If anyone can help?

    Ok.  Problem solved.  I disconnected the DR4000 of the field, it still wouldn't connect.  I joined it to the domain, and then BE could access the share OK.  I don't know why it did not work before.  A note, why you cannot join the DR4000 to the domain by using the domain administrator account?  You must use another account with domain administrator rights.

  • MAXL - Backup Script Essbase for lack of encrypted password

    I went through the steps of...

    1. creation of public/private keys

    2. password encryption

    3. pass these components in the backup script Essbase

    From the kick-off of the EssbaseBackup.bat, it fails to connect with the username password / encrypted.

    If I remove the encrypted password and instead, encode the password, it connects fine and generates the backup file Essbase.

    Anyone of you people seen this behavior before?  All good pointers trying to solve this problem?

    Appreciate any feedback.

    It would have been useful to see your script too, but looks like you are missing $key in your statement at the opening session.

    It should be something like:

    login administrator $key 23958236592475923472398969868968756 ON HYPERION;

    I'm assuming you use you're maxl script with the parameter-d and the provision of key private after him.

    If you set UP CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON, then you don't need separate steps to back up the control and the spfile.  In fact, I do not think that you don't even need to do. Any time that the backup is a backup of the table system (datafile #1) space, it will also create a backupset to include the control file and the spfile.  Try it yourself.

    Everything in your summary of the list 'backup' is already included in your backup of 'list '.

    I would add 'delete all entries "for the backup of the archivelogs. '.  If you do not, then eventually your archivelog destination fills. (Well, if you check in CRF, then it will delete archives when there need more space - if it can and do not compromise your position of recovery.)

    In addition, to overlap/remove expiration on safeguards, I would do the same for the archivelogs.

  • Backup script

    Hello

    I use the script "ghettoVCB4i.sh" for the backup and would like to know if there is a capacity of incremental or differential backup?

    Thank you.

    No there not the capacity for incremental backups. It simply takes a snapshot of the virtual machine and then vmdk file copy too the specified location (local storage, NFS mount etc.).

    Full feature list is here

  • A cold decent backup script

    Oracle version: 11 G release 2
    Platform: AIX

    After going through various messages OTN, I wrote the script for cold backup (Untested) below. If there is some unnecessary stuff or improvements, please let me know
    $ rman target /
    RMAN>
    run
    {
         allocate channel c1  type disk format '/u05/rmanbkp/%d_COLD_DB_%u';
         sql 'alter system archive log current';
         shutdown immediate;
         startup mount;
         backup database including current controlfile tag='mydbname_full_bkp';
         backup spfile tag = 'mydbname_SPFILE';
         release channel c1;
    }

    Not in the script.
    But I would make sure that ORACLE_HOME backups, parameter files (tnsnames.ora, listener.ora, sqlnet.ora, initSID.ora, spfileSID.ora, encryption key portfolio) and scripts (RMAN scripts, database administration scripts) are also stored separately.

  • Backup script no longer works in macOS Sierra

    This line in a backup script used to synchronize the folder my documents with my Synology NAS:

    rsync - avh - delete - progress ~/Library/"Mobile Documents" / com ~ apple ~ CloudDocs/Documents /Volumes

    A ran in the Sierra, he deleted the contents of the folder/Volumes/Documents on the NAS. Nothing is copied.

    The ~/Library/"Mobile Documents path" / com ~ apple ~ CloudDocs/Documents is valid in the terminal. I don't see what has changed.

    Modify the script to this:

    rsync - avh - delete - progress ~/Documents /Volumes

    A did the trick. Do not know why. The old path seems valid in the terminal.

  • Everyone is dismayed to see that there is no password recovery or reset secure put in place for encrypted backups?

    I am absolutely amazed that there is no recovery password for iPhone backups encrypted.

    (1) no password is required to access the iTunes application. He launched and the phone connects automatically.

    (2) someone might maliciously put a password. The password for Mac or device using iTunes OSx need at least before setting the encryption password.

    (3) there is no recovery option. None. Tell me: what password-protected sensitive data have NO option of recovery? No secret questions, no e-mail link, no OSx password, nothing. It's horrible.

    I'm in a situation where I remember not the password, and even if I had the foresight to write it somewhere, that the hard copy has disappeared. I suffer a miserable condition where I lose memory. I have reset passwords on all my stuff course often. That's just my new reality.

    I am faced with a situation where if I ever need to restore my device or upgrade to a new, I won't lose all my old texts and local health data in my applications (which is essential for a person with health problems). The loss of memories of conversations for a person who relies on these devices, precisely because I lose my memory is a slap in the face.

    What the risk of COMPUTER audit team approved this feature, Apple? It's quite incredible that a company of your size would be created people to fail like this. Please post a fix in iTunes for password recovery and substitute it. PLEASE, I BEG YOU.

    N ° if there is a way to recover or reset, the encryption would be completely useless.

    Exercise good security practices on the computer where you have installed iTunes and you will not you care about someone maliciously setting a password for backups.

    There is no way to recover your information or disable backup encrypted if you lose or forget the password.

    You cannot use a backup encrypted if you do not have the password. If you have forgotten your password, the only way to turn off encryption on the backup device is to wipe your device and set up as new. Clear deletes all data on your device. If I could keep the backup history to start now I don't like to take some backup stories are duplicated or doubled. At least, I could recover my MBP if replacement of HDD, new MBP migration or data recovery after the MBP were repaired by Apple Store Home.

    Identical to this thread, I just answer.

    TIME CAPSULE FULL

    Do not attempt to remove the files... He eventually didn't save almost no space and you're more likely to corrupt the entire backup.

    Just the archives outside the TC, wipe it and start over.
