Force synchronization to iCloud drive

Hello

I use iCloud Drive on my iPhone and pc Windows (work). When I put files in iCloud drive on my Windows PC, they will (all) synchronize automatically. How can I force a sync?

I tried to disconnect and connect on my phone and on my Windows pc.

Thank you

Jacob

Usually disconnect and would be a way to force them, but if it doesn't, I would first try to determine if the problem is on the phone or pc.

...? How did this the size of the file downwards? Aliases are just a pointer to the original file, to remember anyway. Even if you were able to synchronize alias through with other devices, they are meaningless, unless the file is also present there and in exactly the same directory and structure under the same username as on the first computer (which will not apply on an iPad). I don't know about the specific case of iCloud and alias but another sync service do not handle their property for this purpose, so I would not be surprised to see that they have been blocked.

Right now, iCloud drive will be synchronized snapshots of documents and data from your Mac.

macOS Sierra will bring changes to this.  See the preview.   Preview - Apple macOS

You will be able to use "Optimize storage" for iCloud Drive and include your desktop and Documents folder in iCloud drive.  Then you can choose to keep only the document new and used recently, all the old files and data locally in the cloud.

In my iCloud account, I created two folders (individuals and businesses) in addition to standard folders.  Standards are iMovie, Keynote, Numbers, etc.  On my MacBook Pro (OSX Yosemite V10.10.5), these non-standard files synchronizes any more.

A solution is to disable iCloud drive, and then restart, but the problem is recurring.  In addition, it is a lot of your time, because whenever I turn it on, it deletes all of my computer and you should download again on restart.

  • iCloud Drive - stop synchronization files back to the Mac

    Hi all

OK, so I use OneDrive for my backups online cloud. I used it in my old Windows and Nokia Lumia days before my first iPhone 4S.

To be honest its pretty * good, everything I do is download all of my digital photos since 2005 in a folder that I call my Photo Vault. These are organized into folders for each month and year and organized. Simple.

Now one of the best features on OneDrive is that even though I have over 65 GB of Photos stored in the cloud, I can choose on all of my Windows PC or my MacBook in the OneDrive records I want to synchronize with the PC/laptop/iMac/Macbook computer so that I not 65 GB of Photos stored on each device. Logic Yes?

What is the point of a storage cloud if it synchronizes all your units and their disk space fills. My Macbook Air 128 GB would be filled with my photo library of 11 years.

    So what is my question?

    iCloud drive.

I have 50 GB to 69P per month. (To be negotiated). Yes but if I want to backup my iTunes library and copy 25 GB in the iCloud drive why must it download it again in my folder of drive iCloud on my Macbook Air that I use to transfer to?

I can choose individual folders in iCloud drive and say, 'Hey no, I want to store in the iCloud drive and not on this PC/computer laptop/iMac/Macbook Air again?

For example, the only way I see doing my music at the present time is to move my iTunes folder media in the folder of drive iCloud on the Macbook Air, while I do not have two versions of the same folder.

Any help with this would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

iCloud is not a backup system, it is a system of synchronization, so it downloads whatever data is stored there to each computer and device signed in with the same Apple ID. There is no way to download selectively. There is a sync all or nothing.

  • iCloud drive a replacement of Google Drive: auto synchronization of folder?

Because I like to try to stay in the Apple ecosystem as much as possible, I am finally moving to an investigation on iCloud Drive on my Mac as a substitute for Google Drive, which I am currently using.

Why I use Google Drive: so that my documents on my Mac is accessible when I'm on my iPhone and iPad. (Pretty good the way Drop Box works, I think)

My question: is it possible to have My Documents folder on my Mac automatically sync with iCloud Drive, so that if I work on my Mac and create a new document (which can be found in the Documents folder), it will be automatically uploaded to iCloud by car?

I know this must be a matter of common/simple, but my research could not get a satisfactory answer.

    Thank you

If you have enough room on your iCloud Drive create a new folder called "Documents" and place it in the iCloud drive:

Now select and do drag and drop these elements in your Documents/Home/users folder you want to synchronize with all your devices in the folder Documents/iCloud .

  • iCloud drive synchronization failed

    Hi all

I have a plan to iCloud 200 GB and filled my iCloud 84 GB data drive. I downloaded all of my iMac (OS X El Capitan) 2 weeks ago.

I then enabled reader iCloud on my iPhone and PC. Everything (except a file on my PC) seems to sync right.

But, with my MacBook Pro (OS X El Capitan), when I activated iCloud drive, there was a real problem.

It seems fine synchronization and download several GB of files, but, at the same time, without anything special happening and several hours after the start, it's just... stop!

And when I restart the iCloud drive computer restarts all over again as if nothing had ever been downloaded! I reboot again and it lights up constantly, never be able to finish my drive download whole iCloud.

Also, I tried everything I found in this thread without success:iCloud Drive no local sync

    What can I do?

    Thanks for any response.

When the sync seems to fail, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

Run the Console application in one of the following ways:

  • Sierra of MacOS - iCloud Drive Documents & Desktop keeps Getting Stuck download

    Hello

as stated in the header after activating the iCloud Drive to include Documents and desktop download stuck guard.

Since almost 2 weeks I started the task mean to ask iCloud to include above mentioned files. Total quantity was about 100 GB download. I have 1 TB of storage for iCloud. iCloud is always download and always get stuck after about 10 to 30 minutes to download. Then I have to restart after that it starts to load only from getting stuck again.

I was on the phone with Apple Care who had no idea of what might happen. They Said and I quote "we have no problem with iCloud download and your problem has not yet been recreated by others."

I find it very hard to believe that I can repro this problem on 3 different systems.

I have Cable speed of 400 Mbps downstream a 25mbit upstream. I have zero upstream of questions to dropbox or Spideroak at an astonishing speed. ICloud is the slowest I've ever known in my life but as I said after 14 days, it has yet to fill about 40 GB. This is ridiculous IMO.

If anyone has any ideas on what is once again wrong with iCloud, I would of course tips

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to post!

Try to go into System Preferences/iCloud and stop synchronization. Wait a few minutes, then recheck the timing.

  • Send multiple photos to iCloud drive

    Hey all

I was forced into upgrading my iCloud storage as my iphone backup did not fit into the franchise of 5 GB (note to apple, you really should at least allow a free backup outside the allocation, im, buying a $1,000 phone each year is the least you could do)

Anyway, I now have an allowance of 50 GB and I'm only using several GB for my backup so I will try to find reasons to the mother to use.

I just had a thought, perhaps I could store the photos in the reader that I am not wanting in my camera... sexy holiday snaps for example.

But oh my God not... I can only send ONE photo at a time. The minute I select more than the option 'Send to iCloud Drive' disappears... are you kidding me! I miss the time with the iPhone that whenever I thought of something I want to do, I try and "it works".

Please telll me miss me something here...

If you are connected to a reliable WiFi and your iPhone is connected, to download your photos from the film to iCloud photo library.

  • iCloud drive with Sierra problems

When I upgraded to Sierra, during the implementation, I registered inadvertently to the top enable My Documents & Desk Top to synchronize without realizing account. Everything was going well in the Finder, until I realized that I was looking for to iCloud Drive/Documents not iMac/Documents and realized what I had done. I went in the iCloud preferences and unchecked Documents & Desk Top iCloud Drive options but I got a pop up stating 'If you keep Documents on your desk and you file Documents will be visible in iCloud drive away. No documents in iCloud drive are deleted. "

I want to stop iCloud sync my Documents and office of the road and come back as it was before moving on to the Sierra of Finder.

    Hello man pine.
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message which is more, you want to use iCloud drive and are concerned that you have received the message, "If you keep Documents on your desktop and you file Documents will be visible in iCloud drive away. No document will be deleted from iCloud drive. "When you disable iCloud Drive, the folder remains in the Finder, but you can move the documents from the folder of the iCloud drive to your Documents folder or any other folder of your choice. The only difference is that any changes to these documents will not be synchronized via iCloud to your other devices.

    Best regards.

  • No iCloud drive merger or double documents folder?

I have two computers that I had of the SugarSync, sync.  In other words, the documents folder on both computers, through SugarSync, is synchronized and identical.  If I go into system preferences > iCloud and click Options to iCloud drive and turn on the desktop and Documents folders, be it synchronize (or fusion) the dossier of documents on two computers or it will publish two documents separate (and then more and more different) folders?  Thank you, in advance!

I use iCloud Drive to synchronize the office and the three Macs Documents folder.

Initially, the synchronization to create a folder for the documents of every Mac as subfolders of Documents and office, named 'old Documents - computer name '. Thus, there are essentially three separate folders of documents of each computer. I have to merge them on mine, if I want to.

In my case, that doesn't matter much, because I started syncing with almost empty Documents and office on three Macs.  Any document that I add after the initial synchronization is now synchronized with the devices.

In your case, where the records are already synchronized, you could simply remove a set of Documents on one computer, before you start the synchronization.

  • iCloud drive has a power symbol in it

The drive icon iCloud in the finder on my iMac has a electric (lightning) enter the symbol in this document, why?

    This symbol?

I'm see it occasionally, if files on iCloud drive do not complete synchronization and are showing a progress bar.

I've not seen this icon explained in a any Apple document, but it seems to indicate than iCloud drive cannot synchronize.  Usually, it will simply help restart the Mac to launch the process of iCloud again.
