format USB drive

When I try to format my USB flash drive in win XP it will process any format and then says: windows could not complete the format. When I try to use it it says to format and then it will try again and will say that he was able to complete the format. Question: How can I format it?

Hello Lej2050,

Thank you for your message.  Try formatting your drive flash from the command line.
Plug in your USB key
Click 'Start' > click 'my computer '.
Make a note of the drive letter that is using your USB key, you will need this information later.
Click "Start" > click "Run" > type cmd in the text field and press "Enter."
In the command prompt, type the following command:
format (drive letter) : and press enter

example: format e: [Enter]
Please let us know if it did or did not format your drive.  If this does not work, check if your can format the drive on another computer.  If you can not then something is not physically with the flash player.
We can't wait to hear back on your part.
See you soon

I use XP and you want to upgrade to the new version of RAW Therapee (an image editor).

This program needs 4 GB of RAM.

I was hoping to get it temporarily via a flash used as RAM additional drive.

  • Iso file of windows xp can directly be installed USB on a formatted hard drive?

Iso file of windows xp can directly be installed USB on a formatted hard drive?

    Not directly.

There is a SMALL chance that if your hardware supports it (unfortunately never say you anything on your PC or BIOS), you can boot from a USB stick or an optical drive and install Windows XP like this.
    But it is unlikely.
In addition, tell us what you mean by 'windows xp iso file. This is very vague, and we do not know what you are talking about.

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

I suggest that you scan and remove any malware or computer virus infections and check if it works.

  • Is the Sony KDL-40EX710 supports the file format exFAT for USB drives?

    Hello

40EX710 USB port, I can see my files on my FAT32 drive, but can not see when I format the drive with exFAT. Support said site, http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/support-info.pl?info_id=799, Sony TVs are also supported formats of exFAT. When formatting the drive with exFAT, Tv does not recognize the drive? Any solution?

    Thank you

    Hi Sinsinati,

Make sure that the disk is formatted completely to the FAT32 or exFAT. No partition so that it is recognized as both FAT32, exFAT format.

Check if the drive is recognized in the computer as an exFAT file format.

  • USB drive will not appear in the finder, but is OK in disk utility

My "music backup" external USB 1 TB SSD showed in the Finder, until a few days ago, when he disappeared. I tried dismantling and Assembly of the command line. The said command-line editing is successful, but I still don't see the drive in Finder.

If I go into disk utility "First aid" reports no problem. The drive is formatted for OS X.  If I right click and say "Open in the Finder" I can see all the folders and even drag in the sidebar where they work, even after a reboot. I can't see the drive at a higher level.

How can I fix it? I guess a solution would be to create a folder called "Music disc" and then move all files on the disc in it and then put it on the sidebar, but it seems silly. How can I get my hard drive appears again in the finder.

PS Si I use a third-party file manager, such as ordering a PRO, the USB drive is available for selection in the drop-down list of disks attached.

    Help!

The Finder, choose utilities go to menu, open the Script Editor and run:

    the shell script ' chflags nohidden ' / Volumes/VolumeName /'.

put the name of the drive where is VolumeName.

  • 250GB USB drive created I don't want cdrom drive

Just installed a new hard drive of 250 GB USB. At startup it keeps creating this drive with some programs on it. I partitioned the drive, but the specific CD-ROM drive keeps coming back. As it is the first device to be seen from the usb drive, it allows me to connect the usb drive as a file server drive to my installed internet router that has a USB for purposes of files on it. This port does not recognize my drive, because of the cdrom drive presumingly generated. So I want to get rid of this cdrom, I don't use the one-touch backup features or protection of password for the drive anyway.

Any ideas how to do this? Is a small partition on the Flash DRIVE or what?

    Hello

I've never seen any USB HDD external who could create CD rom readers.
Have you tried to format the first external HARD drive?
I put t know exactly why it happens, but you suggested he keeps creating the CD rom drive with some programs on it at startup. Perhaps the preinstalled programs are the reason to create Cd rom.
Try to remove these programs from the disk HARD (should first create a backup)

  • USB drive not readable on the Satellite A665-13W

    Hello

I have the following problem. I have Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB (USB 3.0) by car and it is perfectly readable on other PCs without worrying if I connect it to the USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports.

The device is detected in Windows 7 64-bit on Toshiba Satellite A665-13W and I see it in Device Manager. He invites me to open the disk E: (NTFS volume), but it looks empty when I open it in Explorer Windows with a certain delay when Explorer seems to scan drive.

I see some errors in the event viewer such as:
Event ID 11: driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Harddisk1\DR2

But when I connect for example Patriot 8 GB USB drive it works without problem. When I boot Windows 7 in safe mode, the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB drive is connected, and I can read it.

What should I do to make it readable without going into safe mode?

I have the latest BIOS 2.30, I tried to enable/disable USB legacy support, I tried the fast/normal startup, I tried to install the latest Intel Chipset drivers, I tried all USB ports, including one that can be used as eSATA port, but without success. I also uninstalled the recognized device driver and let Windows detect the device again and reinstall the driver, but also without success. I also disabled power management option to disable device, without success.

When I start in normal mode, I can't read NTFS volume. When I boot in safe mode I can read. The USB works on other PC in normal mode. Old USB 2.0 USB key works in normal mode. Strange. It must be a firmware problem or driver in my opinion. If it is a hardware problem or device the device would not work in safe mode!

Are USB 3.0 64 GB of storage devices that are compatible with Toshiba laptops with USB 2.0 ports?

There could be a problem of compatibility between the USB controller and the USB key.
    This compatibility questions aren't unusual.

But I m wondering if you could try to fix this in the other direction:
First check to see if the USB flash memory stick would appear in disk management

    Panel-> management-> disk management computer

Here you will see all the partitions on the HARD disk and the USB connected.
Check if you can format the USB key once more.

If the USB does not appear here, try this method:
Start the console by typing CMD
Then type the command: diskpart and press enter
Now, type command: automount enable and press enter

Now, close all windows and restart the laptop.

    Hello Joe

I saw in some your previous assignments that you use external DVD drive too.

I use my Tecra with Replicator port and a multi LG external DL disk attached to the port replicator (due to the fast data transfer firewire connection). Everything works fine and I wonder how you can have all of these problems.

If your device is set up correctly, including all the original drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba download page should not have any problem. I hope that you have installed the unit without port replicator and you don t forget Mobile extension tool. As much as I know there is no driver for Replicator port and all the signals are loop just to the ports of the replicaror port.

  • How to format USB 3.0 player to play more than 4 GB on TV media

    Hello

I'm looking for a way to format a USB drive to play media on my television. This problem seems to occur when the upgrade to El Capitan. I could always format the USB to play large files of 5 to 15 GB and easily play through my smart TVs. I am able to always format the drive to the exFAT to enable the large file size, but my TV does not recognize the drive and therefore can't play.

Is anyone else having this problem or knows how to solve this problem? Thank you

What format your TV so not recognize ExFat? If the TV accepts the format ExFat, you can try formatting the drive ExFat using a Windows PC to see if it works.

  • WNDR3700v2 attached USB drive gets lost in the 10 Windows after a restart

After I restart my computer run Windows 10, it is impossible to reconnect to a WD 500 GB USB drive attached to my router WNDR3700, on the two (card Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet) wired and wireless (Broadcom 802.11n network adapter). Even if I "disconnect" the USB key in the file Explorer, I can not re - map a drive letter to it. However, the USB seems to my Tablet (also Windows 10) or Blu - Ray, both connected player wireless.

I am up-to-date on all the drivers/firmware on the router and the PC as far as I know. Given that the problem occurs when connected both wired and wireless, this indicates a problem with a driver Ethernet on the PC?

    Thank you

  • external USB drive not seen

    Hello

I just bought a Readynas RN212 as a replacement for my Duo (v1). But the external USB drive (Toshiba 2.5 inch, ext3), that I used as backup for my Duo and always worked perfectly, is not recognized in the RN212.

I have ssh - ed at the RN212 and did a manual mount: mount-t ext3/dev/sdb1/mnt which worked. The player ends up in/run/udev/data.

    Any idea what's going on?

    Kind regards

    Eric

    Hello espakman,

This USB has data on the volume of your old Duo? If it is possible to format, use the NTFS system.

If it contains all the data, it's that it may be preferable that you contact support for the RN212 so it can be verified from the backend.

    Kind regards

  • How to see files on a connected USB drive

    I bought a

GooDGo (TM) 30 pins for cable Charge USB Host OTG synchronization for iPad adapter 1/2/3 white

which is a connector to a female USB 30 pin, supposedly it allows you to connect the USB storage device to the iPad. That do I do on iOS to see everything that is on the USB card I attach, and what formatting should have the USB adapter to work? I would copy the video content from my Mac to a USB drive and see the videos on my iPad.

You need to trick your iPad by seeing these files as if they were on a camera

Give your video files to a name of 8 characters. This mimicks a camera; s naming protocol. MOV_1244.MP4 example

Place these files in a folder named DCIM

Plug your USB into the USB connector (which may or may not work as number of USB drives also requires a lot of power of the iPad so trigger a warning ' device requires too much power "and the USB will not connect)

Open the photos app (it may or may not open automatically)

The last time I tried this I could not see the names of files, just the files were there. I had to import them into my iPad via the import of the photo app tab.

Then try to look through the photos app, which should trigger the video application to open and you can see your video.

This work is also based on the videos being coded in a way that the iPad is going to play, you have enough space to import their and it still works as it did the last time I tried it a few years ago.

  • Bootcamp does not have enough space on the USB drive.

    Hello everyone,

I am trying to install Windows 7 on my Macbook pro mid-2012 running on El Capitan.
I want to do with a USB key, I bought a 16 GB nine one. Try to create the USB bootable with Bootcamp, I get the error that the USB device is too small. I don't know why that it is 16 GB.

Then I tried to format using disk utility, but I get an error.

I tried to use the command line to do with diskutil, always get an error: impossible to disassemble the drive.

Using diskutil I can see the USB key:

    #: NAME SIZE TYPE IDENTIFIER

    0: GUID_partition_scheme * GB 15.5 disk1

    1: EFI EFI 209.7 MB disk1s1

    2: Apple_HFS Untitled 15.2 GB disk1s2

I tried to erase the part EFI using gdisk, everything is ok in gdisk, I can just erase and write to the disk. But the problem is that when I unplug and re-plug the USB nothing has changed...

Try to use under Windows (via VirtualBox) I see only a 200 Mb USB Drive.

I don't really understand everything first:

-Why bootcamp with the new USB has not been able to make a USB bootable for windows.
    Second:

-Why can't I erase this USB key.

Thanks for reading. I hope you can help me or tell me at least!

You must delete and format the USB stick in the form of FAT. What is a USB2 flash drive? A GPT with a FAT partition will not work.

Please see Re: Please format the USB key as a single partition FAT.? on how to do to erase/format the USB.

  • How many movies high def. can fit on a 16GB USB DRIVE?

Hi all! I am a newbie with tech stuff, so please bear with me.
I bought a Kogan STB with 1 TB PVR to record my Semi-HD TV HD movies.

It is said to save, you must use a USB key.  There is no internal hard drive. A good question here is to ask: "what do mean 1 TB PVR? I wrongly assumed that the STB has come with a 1 TB internal hard drive.

Using a 16GB USB DRIVE, how many movies can stand on it?

I don't want a cut film to Midway, due to lack of space.

Is there a way to determine how long (in MB or GB) is a movie?

Video recorders usually tell you, in hours and minutes, how much space you have left on your hard drive. But it is that once you save something on a USB do you find what is excluded in this regard.

I'd appreciate any help any of you could give me.
    Thank you!
    The Steffie.

The size required for the storage of a recorded program will depend on the format used and the length of the film. The term high definition is just simply not enough information to quantify an answer appropriate.

Regarding your 16 Gb USB Thumb drive, you'd be much better off getting an external hard drive 1 TB or 2 TB with a USB connection and an external power source. This should not back you more than just a little more than a hundred dollars or more. Thunbdrive 16 GB is just not made for the task you ask of him.

If the STB Kogan has no settings to adjust for the quality of the recording, simply record a half-hour program and use it as a guide for future recordings, multiplying the space required by the difference of recording time.
