Freeze records on right click.

I had some freezing issues (for more than one year) folder when I click R and choose 'Delete'... so I stopped to do!

Now click r another problem I have is when I chose two images jpg, click r and choose 'print '. Now, the file is frozen for more than 1/2 hour.

Is it possible to defrost it, or cancel, all that? Use the task Mngr and end task to choose?

Any ideas as to why I have these R click questions? I hope someone can help, it froze again.

Joe,

If I could suggest another approach...

Whenever I experienced problems of right-click-on-file/folder, it turns out be caused by an Extension of the Shell.  To debug this problem, download the freeware "ShellExView".

ShellExView: <> http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html >

When you download and run this program, it will present a list of perhaps a few hundred extensions of the environment that are currently installed on your machine.  I start by sorting the list by 'Company' (click on the column heading 'Company') and, starting with non-Microsoft Enterprise extensions, disable several of them at once (select them and press F7 or file-> Disable).  After you disable a bunch, try your right click again.  If the problem is still there then re-activate this group (F8) and disable another group.   This continues until your problem goes away and then start narrowing on exactly which extension is causing the problem.  Once find you and nail to a program or process, the solution is usually apparent (uninstalling the app and the re - install or leave it simply disabled)

HTH,

JW

  • Cursor freezes when I right click on a file

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (with all latest updates)

    32-bit operating system

    IE9

Whenever I right click a file (all), the cursor freezes with the waiting round circle: then I have to go to Task Manager and complete the task under applications to continue to work. To bring things back to normal, I have to restart, but after a while the cursor starts to work again. It is terribly annoying, because I very often work with the menu drop-down list by clicking index right files and regularly use the paste, cut, rename, and delete functions. This problem has happened recently. I have checked my virus from the system and nothing presented. I also realized all the maintenance tasks. I used Nirsoft ShellExView to disable/enable types "contex menu" for all software except those that relate to Microsoft and still have the problem.

Please advise, thank you very much.

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

It could be Aproblematique with shell extensions. Try ShellExView
ShellExView v1.65 - Shell Extensions Manager
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/shexview.html

ShellExView is effective to solve the problems of right click.

Download and run it. It will scan the registry for all shell extensions. Once the analysis is complete, and the list is displayed, you need to identify the managers context menus. Click on the "Type" column header, so that managers of context menus are displayed together.

The rule is to disable context menus not Microsoft managers (in shades of light color) * by * and see if the problem is resolved. If a deactivation does not resolve the problem, undo the disabled item and disable the next Manager non-Microsoft. Repeat until the problem is resolved and finally to identify the culprit. Scroll to the right to see the column name of the company ShellExView.

    Hello

You have discovered a problem with Windows 7. To resolve this problem, I recommend a program called FileMenu Tools. You can download the portable freeware from here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/System/System-Enhancements/FileMenu-Tools-Portable.shtml .

After having downloaded and installed the program, you will notice that, by default, each option is checked. I would be much more selective on this subject, otherwise your context menu will be a full page long! When the main window opens, you will see a list on the right side of all the elements that can be added to the context menu. Start weeding through the list and every one to take away, you don't need the United Nationsby checking the box.

Once you have completed your selection (de-selections) make sure that you click the green check mark in the row of icons at the top of the left window of the interface to 'Apply' of your choice. The program can do much more, but that answers your specific question. I am told that the program has a good help file, so try here if you are interested.

Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

    Kind regards

  • When I right click on a file to save it, Firefox saves it in my download folder without let me pick the destination. Can I get around this?

When I save a file (by clicking on the right) when you use Internet Explorer, I'm allowed to choose the destination folder. However, when I use my default browser to Firefox (again, by right clicking), it simply records the file in my downloads folder without allowing me to select the destination. Why does this happen and can I do to save a file using Firefox and choose the destination where I save it? (My OS is Windows Vista)
