FS7 cinemascope

Hello

a quick question: is there a chance that I can see the 'lines' of the cinemascope in the viewfinder of my FS7?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, look under "Select VF/markers/appearance".

  • import a film FS7 FCP 7

I had to edit some FS7 Sony 4 K footage in FCP 7. I read that it is possible, but not clear how.  Failed to get the FCC to recognize the format.

Are you a person operating on the Mavericks as your post says? You can play the file in Quicktime 7?  You may need to upgrade your software to support the new codecs - but anyway, to use in FCP - 7:

You need convert the source in ProRes files before ingesting in FCP7.

    EditReady is good for this:

    http://www.divergentmedia.com/editready

The resulting files will be huge.

Your other option is to spend on software more modern that supports files directly - such as Premiere Pro or FCP - X.

  • Impossible to find a catalyst, FS7 firmware 1.10, reading

    Hello world

I just downloaded Catalyst browse on my laptop, fell to a folder with some footages of FS7, but I cannot read the footages.

The message indicates, "the media item is not supported or contains missing files".

I see the footages in Premiere pro, however, I don't think that there is nothing wrong with the files.

If anyone knows of this problem? and a solution?

    Thank you.

This problem has been fixed in version 1.0.3 catalyst Browse. Until the current full release notes can be found here.

  • APS - c lenses on fs7

Hello. I have a question on the APS - C sensor Sony lenses (got a bit for my a6000). Taking into account the crop factor of 1.39 x on the Super 35 mm sensor the FS7, what is the advantage of using lenses full frame on FS7? And can I use APS - C lenses? (I'm still waiting for my FS7 to arrive, so have not had the chance to experience).

Any e mount lens can be used on the FS7 without the need for an adapter.
In your first post asked you if there was an advantage to using a full-frame lens against a target of APS - C format. Not that I know, but more importantly, there is no problem either. You can use any e mount lens on the FS7.

  • Why I get an error message when you import directly XAVC images filmed on a Sony FS7?

I am importing XAVC footage of a Sony FS7, and when I import the file XDROOT, first gives me an error message 'Failure to import a file' saying only that "the importer reported a generic error." And yet, all the video & audio seem to actually come and play very well in the front. It seems strange and a little disconcerting, to get an error message that maybe I can just ignore.

If you do not import this file, you use the media browser to navigate to it and import from there.

  • Settings 'source' for FS7 files/Clips in Premiere Pro

I have a question about the native source on images (files, .mxf) FS7 parameter in Premiere Pro... specifically in the OPTIONS of EFFECT tab.  To give you a reference of first... I LOVE the way you can do this internally in PP with RED files.  (But I do not currently see a way to do the same thing with FS7 clips).  Let me explain... If you have a RED clip on your timeline and open the OPTIONS of EFFECT window, you will see options to change the "application" and other menus.  BUT if you click on the MASK tab (next to the label clip) in the same window you will see the ability to edit the 'RED Source settings '.  You can change the ISO that the clip was shot in "natively" with over the addition of an effect.  I have yet to adjust these settings from the source from PP.  They are just "there" for me to tweak... as well as the "kelvin" and the "tint" and the "shadows" and "saturation" and all the rest.  It's so simple and so nice.

Y at - it an option to be able to access the same information for FS7 clips I have on the timeline?  I think that because FS7 files have metadata associated with them that PP could "theoretically" access the same type of info for FS7 clips.  When I pointed out the FS7 clip on the timeline and go to the EFFECT CONTROLS window, and when I click on the CAPTAIN tab I see no. Source settings options to change or adjust.  It would be so NICE if I had access to those natively WITH the PP IN somehow.

Does anyone know if this is possible with clips FS7 in PP?  Am I do not import the files correctly so that the PP can display the native source settings?

The parameters you want appear only for RAW images.  My guess would be that you're shooting in one of the formats non - RAW.

  • How to export in cinemascope?

    Hi guys,.

It's 2015 and there is still no easy way to export a video CinemaScope... I mean come on guys!

OK, so if I want to edit a video in cinemascope I have to import a psd. with black bars and put them on a video track above my video, I'm wrong? Please tell me, that there is an easy to do automatically option now in CC2015...

and then if I want to export this video (without the bars, like the cinemascope 2.39:1) I have to manually crop the video in the encoder, am I right? are you kidding me that there is no always 'Output as 2.39:1"option, the video will be automatically truncated? We are always in the 1990s? It's just a click in davinci... Sorry, but I'm really tired of the simple things like this lack of first... and Yes, of course, a feature request, I sent several times, but without success.

My favorite method on it is to edit in a sequence of 1920 x 800.  This gives a 2.40 aspect ratio not only images, but also to all the transitions that are used as well.  And it allows me to easily make a digital copy without losing the black bars of all the bits.

  • Not displaying not metadata

Version 1.2.1 of the Browse catalyst

Images of F5 and FS7 - where I used to see metadata info, now it shows just the circular arrows all the time.

Also as a note aside, every time I left catalyst browse, the process continues to run and I leave the Task Manager.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled - same question.

    Win7 64 bit

We will try a clean uninstall and reinstall of the software, which is a little different to a normal uninstall.

First, uninstall Catalyst normally browse through Control Panel | Program and features.

    Then, delete the following folders:

    C:\Program Files\Sony\Catalyst Browse

    C:\Program Sony installation program

Finally, we will need to go into the registry and delete only a couple, specific things. Please just delete following text:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\Catalyst Browse

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software\Catalyst Browse

Once it's done, please reboot your machine. And then reinstall it from this link: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/catalystbrowse

After reinstalling, if please reboot once more and then retest catalyst Browse.

Spent some time evaluation ISO real on the FS7 - find ISO real to be about 800 versus the nominal 2000.

  • Wide dynamic range equivalent Canon?

    All, morning

I've got a shoot tomorrow and images is going to be edited, I know the guy do a very quick turn around time and also doent have LUT packages to use. I also know he usually pulls and like dynamic range color profile (clogged not) on the C100, as it seems ok on the camera, but also gives you plenty of room to play with him at the post. What would you say was the most simular color adjustment on the FS7, I tried loads but all seem to be really flat (as slog 3) or with a little look very burned in them as rec 709 standard.

I know, it should have read so we could create the exact appearance etc., but it does not so is not an option.

    Thanks in advance!

    Greg.

  • Diopter VF

I'm just on the end of the diopter adjustment of VF. Does anyone know if you can drop a lens additional diopter in the VF to add other AutoCorrect?

    See you soon,.

    Chris

Your right bbtv. I tried to put the 52mm on the glass lens that was there, as my EX3. I didn't know that the glass in the viewfinder of the FS7 lens is removable. The 52mm big lens screwed on.

  • ASSIGNABLE button 6 doesn't seem to work.

I tried to affect 'assignable button 6' to 'steadyshot' on my FS7, but it doesn't seem to work.

    Countermeasures that I tried:
Thinking that I might need to reboot the camera, I have it turned on and then turning off. I also tried to unplug and re - connect my connection the handlegrip LANC and swapping of lenses (all the Sony E-mount). I also tried other functions as peaking to assinging but no matter how hard or soft how I push the number 6, he's as dead as a dodo.

Has anyone else had this problem or is there something that I'm not just doing?

Sorry everyone. I'm afraid that the culprit was myself. I expected a menu pop up and did not notice that the icon has been change to reflect the State.

Therefore, the button works very well - it was my brain and eyes (I didn't put my glasses on!) which were defective.

  • "Record" tripping on an external recorder with camera button?

I recently bought a * E7 recorder, which I am generally very pleased, except for the fact that I do not seem to be able to trigger the recorder to record by pressing the "record button" on the camera when you send the signal via HDMI.

Note: I'm NOT using the expansion unit

I put "Rec trigger" for ' HDMI/SDI flag - Sony' on the recorder, and it allows me to trigger recording when sending a signal to SDI, but not yet with HDMI.

And HDMI is the only way to send the signal to 4 k, so SDI is usually not an option.

I'm guessing that it is related to a lack of the Extender?

It is not the end of the world having to press "record" on the recorder itself, but a bit boring and cause anxiety.

on your FS7 - make sure you have:

under menu of video - output setting must be set to "recorder".

under the recording menu - control SDI/HDMI set on "on".

I also like to turn on the TC HDMI out of the TC/menu - so that my time code is the same for both internal & external recordings.

  • Hey, Peter C. An owner of F55

    Peter,
My requests are minimal because my F55 has almost everything I need... except this. If possible, unlock/release/UN Butterfly a RAW option on outs HDSDI 4 K / 2K. You have it on the FS700 and now the FS7, we could use it on our cameras as well. I understand the next update of the future firmware (great job Sony), but I'm not going to invest another 9-$11K on the R5 module (my investment is complete with this unit)... .throw us a BONE here. Thanks for your time.

You could do with 2 output HDSDI... or 4, not sure. There are a few features that might make. The big question is, will/can Sony release him?

  • Feature Request: 1-2: option report l / h for function of "marker".

    Hello Peter et al.,.

I would like to request a report l option / additional: for the function of "marker" in the cameras: 2 / 1 (or 'Univisium' as I think marked Storaro).

He sees public use in the House of cards at the moment, and I turns a lot of work at present mainly (for TV broadcast and web) that goes from 2:1 for a more cinematic look who uses 16:9 screens classic a little more effectively than ratios correct widescreen/cinemascope.

I know there are a ton of extensions already available, but 2:1 seems to be quickly gaining popularity, and it would be great to be able to compose a little more precisely using function "marker" of the camera and the actual report.

    See you soon,.

    Mark

    Menu > VF > marker

Then you will see that several settings marked "User box" that control the position, height, and width.

Those where you need. Then select: User box > WE
