FT using crossover cable

Hi all.

I have a situation where a client wishes to implement FT for a single virtual machine running on a cluster 2 nodes vSphere 6. The fabric of the network is 1 GB and FT requires 10 GB because of the new synchronization method of 'fastcheckpoint' for SMP - FT. A possible scenario would be to install a 10 GB NETWORK card to each host and use a crossover cable.

Do you think that this would be sustained? Would it still work?

Thank you very much

Neil.

Thanks Matt,

Good to see that the VMware Lab guys did something similar in the past - which gives me an extra bit of confidence. I understand your point that there is a certain lack of flexibility when it comes to upgrades and maintain the levels of redundancy during a failure of the host and I'll pass these points refer to the end user.

Neil.

  • Connect two VSphere ESXi 5.0 with crossover cable

Hi all! A newbie in the ESXi 5.0

I configured both servers of VSphere ESXi 5.0 with two network adapters on each server, the first NETWORK card acts as a virtual Internet switch, and the other NETWORK adapter serves only the link of communication (Heartbeat) between two VSphere Esxi 5.0 using crossover cable.

My question is, how can I create such change in VSphere in a problem of communication between these 2 servers with a crossover cable? I would like to connect my (CentOS 6) VMs on each server via this network adapter with cable modem Simulator for the purposes of the communication of pulsation. I know how to create a normal vSwitch who can communicate with the Internet, but I have no idea how to create a switch for the NICs connected with a crossover cable.

Please drop me a line if you know how.

P.S. The idea to use the crossover cable rather than use the simple ethernet cable is the cable eliminates the overhead and to avoid the lack of packages due to the processing time of the switch.

I know not how to create one with ordinary vSwitch to establish a connection with the Internet, but not this vSwitch with crossover cable.

There is no difference. Build a vSwitch as your normally would, including the NETWORK card that is connected via a crossover as your uplink cable.

  • Variables shared by using two computers and crossover cable

Just trying to put together a simple testbed linking two computers by a crossover cable.  They correctly ping to each other.  I used examples of LabVIEW for TCP connections and they speak properly that way too.  I try to create and deploy variables shared on a computer, but the other computer will not identify not the SV on the first computer and vice versa.

Can someone give me some details on how to build, deploy, and use effectively SV?  I have read all the documentation NOR, but I don't get the step-by-step approach very well.

    Thank you.

Are you making them shared variable network published and linking them to each other? This document gives a very good step by step:

  • Connect two PCs using Windows 7 with a crossover cable

Hi, I used the crossover cable to connect two PCs with Windows 7 pro 64-bit and I did everything right I know, but computers do not display the each other. How can I solve this big problem!

Default gateway cannot be 0.0.0.0. In addition, computers must be able to talk to each other, so the gateway must match the IP address of the other computer. Right now, the installation program is not talking to each other.

    Try this:

    PC 1

    IP: 192.168.2.1

    SUP: 255.255.255.0

    Gateway: 192.168.2.2

    DNS server: 192.168.2.2

    PC 2

    IP: 192.168.2.2

    SUP: 255.255.255.0

    Gateway: 192.168.2.1

    DNS server: 192.168.2.1

  • Transfer files from the laptop Win 8.1 for win 7 laptop using the crossover cable

I put the static IP as described (192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2) and same IP of the DNS server on both machines.

I somehow got it to work before transferring them to about 10 MB/s (- what its about right?) but have no idea how I did it.

I now have enough and pleads for help from the experts here.

I spent a lot of time trying to make it and hope that someone can help me.

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

    Michael,

1 I've done this work using IP and DNS Server IP entries different from those that you tried.  Set the default gateway and preferred DNS server on the IP address of the network card in the other PC.

    For example: -.

On the PC with the LAN card 192.168.137.1 IP address, assign to the 192.168.137.2 default gateway and preferred DNS server .

On the PC with the LAN card 192.168.137.2 IP address, assign to the 192.168.137.1 default gateway and preferred DNS server .

    2. you must also have a common Admin user name on both machines.  I added that common at the time and used the same password for each of them as well , but I can't now find notes explaining why I used the same password.  Should not be signed as a common user, you just need to use the credentials for this user when challenged at the first opportunity to connect to the PC.

    3. If you want to start over again and check everything again, I discovered that the procedure to a procedure step by step for the creation of a network of Ethernet cable of two computers between Windows 7 and Windows XP with ICS works for a LAN between Win7-WinXP, Win7-Win10, WinXP-Win10.  It seems likely that it works between Win7-Win8.

4 a crossover between the LAN cable is not necessary.  A standard LAN cable will also work.  The standard LAN cable connection is, apparently, a little slower than a cable connection, but I was never able to see a difference.

  • Crossover cable VMotion or regular

    Hello

To configue vmotion between 2 hosts and connect directly with a cable TP, this cable must be the crossover or is this normal?

    Concerning

    OLE

As you think, both directly connected servers will need a crossover cable, but they may also have automatic detection ports that are used to connect a standard cable.

  • Connect two ESXi 5 hosts via crossover cable

    Hi all

I am trying to configure two separate of ESXi hosts so that I can run Veeam replication on the subnet that I will create on the crossover cable. I have an open port on a NETWORK adapter on each host, but I could not understand how to assign an IP address for each port. The destination host has not all VMs, so I can't configure the port through the guest OS. Is it still possible?

    Thank you all!

It is possible - you need to create the vmkernel ports that use these physical uplinks

  • try to migrate data from a macbook pro to another using thunderbolt cable.  Cable is not recognized, why?

replace a 3 years old macbook pro with a new - try to migrate data using thunderbolt cable.  When the cable is plugged into laptops, its not known how to fix this?

The two Macs have a Thunderbolt port?  The old Mac may have a mini displayport that is used for video only, but accepts a Thunderbolt since video Jack mini displayport is a subset of Thunderbolt.

In addition, you use a bolt of lightning and not a cable mini displayport? They look alike at first sight, but Thunderbolt should have an icon of lightning on each card.

Also, if you look in System profiler

OS X: about system information and System Profiler - Apple Support

under lightning shows as being connected?

  • resolution of the screen using hdmi cables

    I have a dell inspiron 15 3520. It has a resolution of 1366 x 768. The hdmi cable I have is a cable game and 4096 x 2160.

I use the hdmi cable only to watch movies from my laptop to my tv.

When I plug the hdmi cable, my phone tells me the screen resolution does not. It is said that my viewing can be affected.

Is it OK to use this cable or should I replace it with another?

Cables have no resolution, only screens/monitors/TVs do.

Most HDTVs have a resolution of 1024 x 768, but it can vary.  But it does not harm your computer, simply use the resolution setting that your TV manual recommends.

  • Wath is real network setting for webscan with crossover cable?

    Hello everyone

I have a problem with webscan.

I have two desktop who are networked with a "crossover" cable one of these computers have two network port I connect my hp 6500 all-in-on with another "crossover cable" to a different port on this computer network.

my setup ip in computer "1" with the port of two networks:

192.168.0.1 ===> to connect to another computer

    169.254.199.1 ===> to connect to hp 6500

my setting ip to the '2' with a single port network computer:

    192.168.0.2

    my hp 6500 ip setting:

    169.254.199.140

computer 1 can find computer 2 and hp 6500. and 2 computer will find computer 1 but the problem here is that 'the computer '2' is not hp 6500 ".

    Help, please.

If we don't want my network setting, that is - that's right.

Note: both my os is windows xp.

I apologize for my bad English.

Have you tried to manually configure the IP 192.168.0.3 printer?

You must also put the printer subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

Which should allow the computer 1 routes IP printer to computer 2 packets (as computer 1 is turned on and the computer 1 provides routing between ethernet ports).

    It's worth a try.
