Full under installation product key to upgrade

I'm a Microsoft Alumni and paradoxically used in support of our operating system over time in the mid-1990s.  I had a duty to stay updated on all our operating systems, even after leaving the company.  I also write a blog about Windows and change the configurations on my machine etc. in the process.  During the first year, I bought the full move Windows Pro 8, not upgrade, the company store.  I clean installed more than once to say the least.  Last time, I think that I had to call to make it work.

However, yesterday evening, I snatched my backup hard drive and went to install on my 3 TB drive, Yes, it's a UEFI.  Everything went well until what he starts.  Activation of the modern user interface, said that the key was invalid.  After having to retype a dozen times I gave up and went to bed.  This morning, I used the keyboard shortcut to run it from the desktop.  Now, he says it's valid, but an upgrade... what!

I wanted to simply open a ticket, or maybe call support, but I am stuck in a loop of Windows 8 support.  I hope that someone has encountered this and has a resolution, or at least a link to submit a real support ticket.  This is quite important since that time my blog only I can put in Windows 8 is "they killed my key product." and that would be the kind of suck.

Thanks to all those who can help you.

Gary

The company you bought at the company store, it is the OEM System Builder copy? Because it is the full version only I know. Its likely what you bought has been updated although Microsoft could provide a box full version retail special just for the company store. I remember when I visited the company store, they had full versions of all MS. products

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

  • should I have the product key to upgrade xp to vista

My wife son died and she got her computer but no cd has no product key for xp install.do, I need a upgrade product key to custom computer Vista.the built.don't where he is a few years old. Thank you

Just create an Image backup of XP (before you upgrade) on an external USB drive. Then, whenever you may need to reinstall just Vista restore XP using the Image backup.

(I think you'll find that Windows 7 is a better choice then Vista in the transition from XP to a newer version of Windows).

Also if it built the computer then you will find the product key using a key finder utility. Download and run one of the utilities listed below.

    Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
(He did a good job of providing a wealth of information.
Displays your Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 key.
However may not detect a key to office, then try one of the other two listed below for office key).

    Also: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html
    and: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

One final note: after you upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, you will have to install the device drivers. Go to the web site support motherboard manufactures, locate the correct mother by part number, download the appropriate drivers for Vista or Windows 7 to a folder, copy it to a USB flash /thumb. Then install after the upgrade.

  • I can validate a sticker/Windows 7 Pro OA installation product key FRONT of the BONE?

    Hi all

I bought a 2nd hand PC that has windows XP on, but I want now to remove it and install Windows 7.

Curiously, the PC had original Windows 7 Pro OA sticker with the product key (my guess is that windows XP has been installed then it was a PC ex).

My question is: is there a way to check if the product key is valid before installing Windows 7 Pro, because I don't want to install Windows 7 Professional, only to find out that for some reason any key is invalid and I have to re - install Windows XP.

A big thank you to all for reading (and I hope to answer to) this question.

No, you can not determine if it is valid or not, but just the fact that it is a Windows 7 Pro COA attached to the machine he could prove the validity.

I have an old laptop Pavilion from HP which was under vista (Home premium I think) and you need to re - install with new hard drive because of damaged equipment.

long story short, I installed the OS (vista Home premium sp2) and can't seem to get my product key to work (2 letters are very worn off the coast, but even with my guess more precise, nothing seems to work)

Is it possible that I could get a replacement key? I know it's a crazy old BONE now, but still. I would get the computer and run again.

Any help or assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Laptop: HP Pavilion dv3-2150us

    Operating system: Windows Vista sp2

    Hello

Microsoft there will not give you another key, especially since it is a HP machine and all support comes from HP, which will only send back to Microsoft which will then take you to HP...

You can try a torch and a magnifying glass to see if you can see the missing numbers.

Or take a picture and to extend it on the computer

Or you can ask HP to send you a set of recovery disc for your model computer reinstall the operating system to how it was when new.

    HP:

The relocation method above does not normally allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

    See you soon.

  • Need information on product keys

Original title: help I don't know what to do on my windows 7

So a few years ago, my sister bought a new computer (it) soon enough technology has aged and she upgraded to an another computer and gave it to my sister who needed a laptop for his house. Well well once more data on it were out dated and thus, she got a new computer and gave it to me. I was grateful for the computer but with all transmission of the computer disk that came with it is lost and the product key is very difficult to see on that. My poor computer needs a tune up bad and I can't do much without the 25-character product key - so that would be my question. Can I get this info on your part or get a new one please help me. Hello

We cannot provide you with a product key.

It is the Microsoft information about product keys, but do not hold your breath waiting for the computer manufacturer to give you a new key.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your laptop there should be a recovery on the hard drive Partition to reinstall Windows 7 back to the way in which you bought your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

The methods above resettlement generally do not require allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

A torch and a magnifying glass can help you to read the product key.

And read this on cleaning your computer.
