Full Vista partition

My Vista partition grows continuously until the partition fills up.

When I initially installed Vista I allocated about 40 GB for the operating system. He kept complete so I he reassigned to 80 GB. It fills up again. Folder my documents is not in the same partition with the operating system.

Here's the breakdown of records in GB:

Windows 40.8

ProgramData 8.8

ProgramFiles (x 86) 8.7

Pagefile 8.5

7.6 users

Program Files 2.1

Garmin 1.8

The systeme.6 volume information

MSOCashe.5

I am slot than Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

Can someone help me understand what keeps filling the partition and how to fix?

I ran the cleaning disc without success.

Thank you

Note

  • Here's another way to open Disk Cleanup: click on the Start button. In the search box, type and then disk cleanup in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.

Other things to try

With disk cleanup displays above the Other Options tab. You can delete all but the last System Restore point and see if that is too much space.

Delete files in the system Temp folder

Start - All Programs - Accessories - right on command prompt and choose run as administrator. Type (or copy and paste by clicking in the command prompt window and choose Paste).

To the list

dir c:\windows\temp/a/s

To remove

del c:\windows\temp\*.*/s/f/q

Check the size of the swap file

As a rule generally you want to your swap file slightly larger than the amount of memory that you have. It develops automatically but spread automatically. If you use hungery memory programs as this video editing should be bigger. If too big you can reduce and rush of space can be moved to another drive.

Start - All Programs - Accessories - right on command prompt and choose run as administrator. Type (or copy and paste by clicking in the command prompt window and choose Paste).

I had Vista Home Premium on my laptop, created a new partition and install W7 on the new partition.

I installed all the programs I need to on W7 and now you want to remove the Vista partition (C but Windows or EASEUS Partition Master Disk Manager will allow me.) The 'format' option is just grayed out. I am currently in the W7 partition (has and format the C: to merge with my data disc.)

I would like to delete the partition on my hard drive and then to merge part of it in my Vista partition.  I have Vista on C, my documents on D and XP on my partition of F.  I would like to delete F and then to merge half in C and the other half in D.  I can do all this in Vista's own native partitioning tools?

    Hello Prr1,

Thank you for posting.  I did exactly that with one of my readers what you try to do it now.  So, the answer is Yes you can.  Just proceed with caution that your car has your Vista installed on it, while mine was an additional drive, I used for the storage and testing.  Both partitions are on the same physical drive you should not have any problems changing the size of partition using the Vista partitioning tool.

  • I bought Vista Ultimate professional to upgrade the installed Vista. The 'Upgrade' feature is disabled in my professional (full) Vista Ultimate package. Why?

Why can't go from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate?

I have a laptop double boot configured with Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional.

I bought Vista Ultimate professional to upgrade the installed Vista. The 'Upgrade' feature is disabled in my professional (full) Vista Ultimate package. Why?

Update requires the same Service Pack level.  For example, if your current Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 or SP2 installed, you will need to uninstall the Service Pack to be able to use the Windows Vista Ultimate Edition disc, you have that has no Service Pack integrated.

How ascess the files in my Windows Vista Partition in Windows 7? I have Windows Vista Partition, I case these files through my Windows 7 partition without logging in there?

    Thank you

You should be able to (I'm virtually certain it's possible) If you have the appropriate permissions or property rights in your Vista partition to allow access of the user of Windows7 or users of Windows7.  It's the way it works with XP and Vista and I suspect that it is essentially the same thing here.  You may need to add the users to the Vista partition/folders/files in Windows7 using regardless of their process (it varies probably Vista so I won't bother posting method Vista to do).

The best thing to do is to follow the advice of Michael Murphy and get help from experts in the Windows7 Forums.

  • Advice needed - disk almost full (Vista)

Hi hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I have a laptop Fujitsu running on Vista and the drive, drive is nearly full, he is only 30 GB and only got 3 GB free, that it has no images, videos or documents, I searched on the internet and using treefile find WinSXS is taking almost 10 GB. I understand that service pack 1 has a utility to clean up Winsxs but I need at least 4 GB to install SP1, I uninstalled all unnecessary programs, ran clean disk and also installed and ran ccleaner. I am now at a loss, what to do, I could do a full restore but I don't have a recovery disk, there is that no restore points on the drive, so it cannot come back earlier, ideas? Thanks in advance

It depends on if the D: drive is actually part of the same hard drive, or two separate drives. You can view this information by going to the Disk Manager tool.  If this is the case, you can use a tool that will allow you to delete D: and extend C: to use lots of disk partitioning disk space.

I realize that you are on Vista, which is not the same as Windows 7 configuration. With Vista, you can disable the option system restore, it will stop automatically create points of restoration of Windows, but you will leave at risk if you want to recover from mistakes in the future, so please ensure that you take regular backups of system and files on an external drive.

  • How to make Vista partition on the HARD drive as first with recovery CD

    Hello

I want to format and retrieve information from my 'Vista' (C: / /) partition, which is the first. But when I choose the option "Format and recover to a first partition on your hard disk (without RE) ' the computer began to recover in" Type of Partition: windows NT NTFS (ID: 07) "whose size is only 1.50 GB.

In the middle of the process, it shows not 'enough space on a disk.

Question: How to make a 'vista' first partition? What is 'the first partition' in the second formatting option and recover the system?
    Thank you for your answers

    Hello

Sorry, but you will not be able to do. I know it's a bad situation but if you use the first option that the whole HARD disk will be formatted and C new partition created. Second option, that you can not use at all. I tested it with my Satellite A100.

I called Toshiba and they said that Toshiba work on new recovery options and new notebooks will have the best recovery option. Something like old installation expert ghost mode.

I know it's wrong, but unfortunately there is nothing to do.

  • Equium A200 - 15l - hard drive almost full Vista, what now?

On my hard drive of laptop theres 2.
    C; Vista and E; Data.
My Vista drive is almost full so what do I do now?
I thought that once the Vista was full disk of data take longer, but no.

    Advice please.

    Hello.

    You can do this:

    1. disk cleanup
2 turn off the system restore
    3. create a new hard driver small, extracted from your data disc, for swap space. Leave the C drive for the new driver swap space. If you have 2 GB of memory, you can find, it is useful to create a hard drive to third with 4 GB of swap space, or windows will use the drive space it.
4 format your hard drive and perform a new installation. You don't like it I guess :)

    Good luck.

When launched the CD to 'view' where this "alternate" install is shows unknown HDD to address 0 w a lack of disk space. Of course, it is more than likely that only some files in the registry or the system "ask" that there is a current installation. Where can I find these to remove them? I see that a "MVP" edited the title of the question, but it did NOT reflect what the question. Please leave the full question in the title of the post. My problem is not a simple installation of 'failure '. I just want to find out where the entries are which are originally to show 2 Windows Vista o/s when I 'start' my computer when there are 'only' real installation. Note: I have two we HARD a WinXP Pro, the other Vista disks. At the start, it shows "Versions of Windows" and then Windows Vista and finally Windows Vista again. But a friend of mine, earlier employed by a call to HP support, said that if I mess with the partition table, even if I do not change the recovery partition itself, I could ruin the restore function.

If this is the case of tha then it is a problem since Linux wants to add a swap partition.

Someone can confirm if this is true or not?

Yes, this is usually the case. Only way to run the recovery partition after changing is to "Mark as active" the recovery partition and restart.

  • Cannot add free space on my Vista Partition.

So, I try to do a dual boot a bit back and decided that I did not like the other operating system, so I deleted the partition, and I now 28g of free space on the hard drive. Is there anyway to expand my C: volume. When I right click on the C: drive, "Extended Partition" is steamed up outside. Is it possible to format my free space. I even tried to create a new simple volume with free space, and he says that there is not enough space on the disk (s) to do so. Help?

Delete a logical drive in an extended partition creates 'unallocated free space' only if you also to delete the extended partition the "logical drive" was. Now that you have removed the logical drive, you can delete the extended partition. You should probably use tools that show you more clearly what you are doing. diskmgmt.msc not do enough for you. • Full Vista installation disc

    Hello

My MSI laptop came with only one disk recovery system, not a disc of the operating system, and if I understand well I need a disk to the operating system in order to run a virtual machine in VirtualBox.  MSI said that they do not provide them.  How can I get a?  (An iso would be perfectly good.)

I have Vista, but I want to downgrade to XP.

    Tim

There is no available free Vista drive download.  To get one, you have to buy a Vista product complete with its own product key (assuming you can find one - recently, I looked and could not find anything but versions OEM which are not the same a real Installation of Vista diskettes). Don't forget, your license allows a SINGLE instance of Vista to be installed at all times - even practically - you can not use the entire disk to create a second installation because your product key will not work to turn it on.

Your best bet is to borrow a disk for Installation of Vista genuine of the same size of the bit of anyone (any version will do - real discs include all versions).  Then, make a copy of the disc for you (they are not protected against copying) and if you need to install or activate, use your original product key.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
