G4 virus begins but before full initialization says I must reboot and lock me up.

Mac G4 starts but before it fully starts a message appears and say "you must restart your computer", locking the machine up to what I held down the power button down to turn off the machine. I booted safe and it seems quite different that the screen has little tiny lines, almost inpersivable but here.  In my view, a virus any.  help if you can. Thank you.

No, if you have a Mac, the first thing to think about is not a virus but a material or possibly corrupt software problem.  I don't think I've ever heard talk of a G4, or any Mac, get a virus in 20 years.

After starting in safe mode it will start normally again?  Safe mode does some repair and sometimes take care of the issue.

The line thing is disturbing, maybe a video card problem. Are you sure they weren't there before? As part of your original installation disk, you should have received an Apple Hardware Test label.  Try to run that and see if it reports hardware problems.
