G550 or B560?

Hello

I don't know much about computers. Here are the five things I need on my computer to do:

i write

(ii) surfing

(iii) watch movies

(iv) listen to music

(v) modify the photos

I think buying a G550 or B560. I have no idea of what is best.

I'd love to hear the verdict of the Lenovo user.

Novalis (new in the community)

The German Lenovo shop has had some technical problems.

Moreover, I found a Lenovo G550 for 299 euros and B560 for 319 euros.

The B560 seems stronger to me. So, I intend to buy this one.

The Y550 seems to be an older model is no longer in production.

  • Replaced the G550 motherboard. Won't boot black screen and high.

I replaced the motherboard in my Lenovo G550 laptop cause the old one was fried. It's the exact same model of the motherboard with a new processor. I carefully put it back together and double checked all the connections. Now when I turn it on, it made all the right noises, I hear the fan and hard drive starts, but after 2-3 seconds, the HARD drive and fan go quiet and the hard drive light turns off. The laptop stays just slowed after this point and the screen is completely black, no display at all. Any help much appreciated.

    Thank you

THE FIXED! .. After leaving the laptop running for about five minutes, I noticed that the right part of the palmrest botton was really hot. That's where the USB slot Council separte connected to the motherboard. So I opened the laptop again once disconnected the cable flex of the USB card, turned on again and it starts without any problem. Everything works perfect now just need to find a replacement USB Board now on this side. Can't believe that the USB Board was causing the problem.

  • Complaint driver Lenovo G550 Wi - Fi and porting Windows 8.1

    Hello!

This is my first post on this forum and I hope that I have the right place to post, as I've seen other topics concerning the g550 on this forum.

I have read the discussions about the use of Windows 8 and its drivers and also problems with the wi - fi driver - it is the inability to provide a service of quality - problems with a "weak signal".

Let me put it this way:

    1. at this moment I am Windows 7 64 bit and as my pilot wi - fi, I use the system planned when I installed it, it's:

So far, it is the best WiFi driver available, that gets me the best discovery of network (I see on the 10 available wi - fi networks using this).

    2. to install the driver provided on the Lenovo Site's Driver, i.e. broadcom driver combined 32-bit/64-bit, the number of networks that I can connect to via wi - fi decreases from 10 to only 2 networks, one of them being my neighbor router! This is unacceptable in my opinion! Now, the speed of the network cannot deviate too much, but the pilot clearly lacks some features, because he can see only 2 instead of 10 networks - in the same place!

Now, for Windows 7 x 64 things are good, I just stick to the provided windows (4.176.75.21) driver and I can use wi - fi without any problem in the world, at a good rate of functionality and performance.

My problems are now turning to the 64 bit version of Windows 8, more precissely 8.1. I experimented with this and put aside the problem of wi - fi, which I can fix is more, everything seems fine and I'm pretty satisfied how my sistem works on win8 64-bit.

    The problem:

    (a) when running with the supplied Win8 driver, networks are few, just like using the driver lenovo, or even worse - a single available network - my router - 100 cm near my laptop! No other available network... Very bad.

    (b) for installing the same win7 32/64 bit driver on win8, which works without compatibility issues - I get the same results as the installation of the configuration of windows 7: 2 networks are in the same place.

I read on the forums, that there may be a chance that lenovo will ship 8 to g550 windows drivers, but if they work in the same way that the current drivers for win7, they will be of no use to the expected rate of return. Can someone do something about providing better drivers, look at this problem?

I also tried to deceive win8 and port the driver win7 64 for windows 8, by extracting the location of the pilot of the iso file or windows 7 installed driver (obtained a .inf and .sys file) but ultimately I can't install it in Windows 8, even with the option 'have disk... '. ", where he finally tells me that's not a win8 supported 64-bit driver. (No signed drivers problems or displaying a message).

Now, as a solution for this, I would be grateful if someone could recommend one of the following:

    (1) either a way to make the driver lenovo work better, to configure it somehow, or provide another driver for win 7-64 which can also be run on win 8 (what should be), which has good performance

    (2) provide a 'port' mode the current win7 that works best with my Broadcom WiFi for windows 64-bit of 8.1 driver.

    Thanks for following this!

OK, I solved my problems, this topic can be closed, as far as I'm concerned.

I'll leave here the method in which I acted, as well as any other person who is faced with the same problem will be facilitated by this guide.

    Here's what I did:

    (1) carries the wireless driver for windows7 - that came on the original dvd - copied three files: two .inf files and a sys file, I believe - cannot remember exactly. Anyway, you can use export driver software and select your driver and it will automatically detect and retain the necessary driver files. I have saved files and if someone needs them, pm me and I'll tell you which files they are exactly, or send them.

    (2) once I got the win7 drivers, I entered my install windows 8.1 and accessible "Advanced Boot Options", which has an option available to select certain features on the next reboot-> you click on restart to see advanced features.

    (3) select 'disable' in the boot options advanced, driver signing checking once they appear, after the restat. This is necessary in order to get errors that do not allow you to install the win7 driver do not.

    (4) it just go to the device driver update manager, have the disc, select your .inf and there you go, just a few guests on the absence of the driver of a signature and you're ready, you can install the driver without problem.

In my case, it worked perfectly!

I did it too with other win7 drivers, and it worked also.

    Tip:

If you have problems and the pilots still doesn't work, check the .inf file, it may need some modifications.

See if there is a section 6.2 NTAMD4 (this is for win8) and if it isn't, or if this article contains no lines, just create or update the same lines that you see in tights under articles 6.0 or 6.1 also in section 6.2. Then the disk method will work for your desired Windows 8.1 driver installation.

I think this can be useful for many situations, not only for this specific driver and model laptop, but for the most part are questions users driver compatibility.

  • Guaranteed B560 & GPU upgrade

    Hello

About 2 weeks ago, I bought a new laptop... B560 that has been exposed in a local store, the price was really good & cheap.

So, I was checking on the Lenovo site & its saying that the warranty is already expired, what should I do?

I really like this machine, but the only problem is the integrated graphics card Intel, which can't be good.

Can I bring my laptop to a dedicated card? Such as HERE

(I checked the nividia site & they say laptop cards are not for sale individually, they sell it to companies...) So if you want an upgrade, contact your manufacturer)

I know it's difficult to update maps laptops but its worth by train, better than buying a new (expensive)...

Is it possible to upgrade my B560? And if so, could this be a problem because of the question of the guarantee?

    Thank you in advance!

upgrading graphics cards is not possible because of the graphics card soldered to the motherboard. (for ideapad and 3000 series)

  • Lenovo G550 query... Urgent

I'm almost finalized on obtaining a G550 - the eldest cousin of the G530 notebook. I'll be racing through lenovo.com.

    Essentially on the Lenovo site,.

Go to Products > Notebooks > laptop Lenovo value line

You will see 3 different models for the G550. References to: Lenovo G550 - 29582CU, 29582DU and DRANK 29582

However, I do not know the difference in the technical characteristics of the different laptops Lenovo.

Main differences, that I could see:

    Lenovo G550 - 29582CU: Memory -2 GB PC3 - 8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066 MHz & hard drive - 250 GB-5400 RPM

    Lenovo G550 - 29582DU: Memory -3 GB PC3 - 8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066 MHz & hard drive - 250 GB-5400 RPM

    Lenovo G550 - 29582BU: Memory -4 GB PC3 - 8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066 MHz & HDD - 320 GB-5400 RPM

Apart from that, is there a difference?

I plan to buy the G550-29582DU, but I need to know if she has a camera 1.3MP webcam and built-in bluetooth. The site of specifications does not appear to mention at all. Could someone please shed some light on this subject? Why is the lenovo site to the point?

I need this information urgent because I need to order the book by max tonight.

    Hi pokerchampin,

Take a look at the personal systems reference book (value line Notebooks), he answers your questions:

  • Lenovo G550 will not let me activate wifi

    I have a problem with a G550 laptop, running windows 7.

No matter what I do, the wifi does not work. When the manual switch on wifi on and I press fn + f5, nothing happens.

The wifi card is recognized in windows, I have the latest drivers Lenovo support page and so on.

I tried literary everything, including windows reinstall and still nothing.

When I run windows diagnostic said it also "options wifi (or something like that) is not activated" and I tried with readycomm that says the same thing.

It's actually sort of a hardware defect?

Remove readycomm application. Then, restart your computer.

Re - install power management, and then press fn + f5 to activate wireless.

do you not see any window like that?
