G6 1201TX portable hard drive problem

Hi friends,

I have a laptop HP 1201TX g6. The hard drive of this laptop appears dead. The BIOS HDD test failed. and the worst case, the warranty period.

can someone tell me a few things here.

(1) I would buy a new internal HDD for this laptop. so can you suggest the model internal compatible hard drive to replace the one damaged?

(2) so that after having fixed the new HARD drive, how can I get my windows 7 original and authentic back on this new hard drive?

All I have is the recovery disks.

(3) can I use these recovery disks to get the drivers installed?

It would be useful to you to suggest me the procedure. Please let me know if you need more details.

Hello

Your laptop is listed as coming with a 640 GB hard drive, but you can also easily install a 750 GB HARD drive if you want a little more space - the player on the following link is an example that would be perfect for your laptop.

750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 58 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVDs - these discs will reinstall the operating system, all required them software & drivers, as well as recreate the original scores, including the recovery on the new disk partition - this is described in the document of HP here.

Best regards

DP - K

  • Portable hard drive problems Win 7 search

With my drive hard laptop Windows 7 is not search properly, whenever I plug something into the search box, it will not try and tell me that 'no file not matching my search' even if I am looking for something that is findable 1 folder deep level.

I tried using the indexing functions, however it does not work. I removed indexing for the drive, and it still doesn't work. I even ran the 'search and indexing Troubleshooter"and who did not check my portable hard drive for problems.

Research with my amazing research skills, I found nothing via Google or Bing.

Please help, because it is very irritating!

1 did you recent hardware or software changes to your computer before this problem?
    2. only the problem occurs when you try to search only on portable hard drives?

  • Portable: hard drive DST SHORT failed

My computer won't start and repeatedly goes to a blue screen with a sunburst type above (the mouse pointer still work). I've run the HP tests and get this result:

    "Short DST: FAILURE.

    FAILURE ID: GDSDBX-TLR7RJ-9XL03F-604J03

    PRODUCT ID: XF288EA #ABU

    Hard drive 1

    "Test drive: FAILED.

I guess that means that my hard drive is irreparable, but can someone confirm this. Also, I will be able to buy another hard drive and use the ERD that I did to reinstall Windows 7? I ask because it was preinstalled on your laptop and came with no disk to reinstall. Only, I was commissioned to do a repair disk.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dan

Each time the short hard drive DST test fails with 24 alphanumeric characters "GDSDBX-TLR7RJ-9XL03F-604J03" which indicates that the hard drive has failed and which needs to be replaced to solve the problem

This problem could be due to an Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, incorrect judgments, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power so portable, sudden falls etc...

HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:

Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.

Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds

Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)

Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

If the problem persists again please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files. • A Portable hard drive operating system compatibility

I bought a Seagate Expansion Portable hard 3 TB drive and want to transfer the files on my old PC (which uses the operating system WIN XP) on my new PC (which uses the operating system WIN 7). When I connect the camera on my old PC, it is not displayed in "My Computer", but it can be seen under "sensor external hard drive... I followed the suggestion of Seagate to reformat the device in the MBR format but persists above. Is there a way I can connect to my old PC so that I can transfer the data via portable hard drive? Or is there a driver I can install to fix the problem?

    AA

Did you leave the 1 partition of 3 TB drive?  XP cannot 'see' as large partitions. It can 'see' up to 4 GB.  I would create a second partition 25% larger than the data on the XP machine by reducing the current partition and creating a new.

The best way to proceed is to use EaseUS partition magic (free)

  • Portable hard drive does not

I have Transcend 1 TB portable hard drive for 2 years and for the last few days it does not work in any computer. whenever I plug computer detects the drive but it says: "you must format the disk in drive F until you can use it" and "F: is not accessible. Data error (cycle redundancy check). and when I try to remove it safely it says "Problem eject the storage device" but it works quite well when I plug my SAMSUNG TV .

We can do the following to see if you can again access your external hard drive:

    • First of all, you can connect your external hard drive to your computer and launch an anti-virus on it. This could help you and check if the problem of the error you are getting is due to a virus or malware on the external hard drive.
    • If the antivirus scan does not work, you can check your hard drive for errors:
    1. You can type run in the Start menu, and select it.
    2. -Type CMD , and then press ENTER.
    3. -Type chkdsk o:/f check the letter of the hard disk external hard drive is connected, in the command prompt window, you can change the letter to the correct. Then click on the button enter.
    4. -Press Enter key and it should begin to repair damaged files that might have caused the error, you should see some of your names in files before finally, it asks if you want to save the channels lost in another location. Click Yes.

If you can normally process, you can try to read your external hard drive, once you restarted your computer. Please note that the process can take a long and patience will be required on this.

Let us know how it goes.

When I plug my portable hard drive to the usb port it does not read and display the contents...

    Hi deaza,.

Ø Have you connected the USB hard drive to the computer directly or you have used an external USB hub to connect?

O trying to connect to another USB port to check if it works?

O the hardrive shows in windows of the computer when you connect it?

    Method 1:
If you have installed security software, I suggest you to temporarily disable the security software and connect the USB and check to see if the same problem happens. Make sure that you enable the security software after checking.

Alternatively, you can try to plug the USB key into a different USB port and check if it helps.

    Method 2:
I suggest trying to launch hardware and troubleshooting of devices and check to see if it helps, here is the link:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-to-do-when-a-device-isn ' t-installed-correctly

    Method 3:
If this does not help, then follow these steps:

    (a) remove all your USB devices. Use the safely remove the feature to turn them off.

    (b) open Device Manager and navigate to the section for USB. Uninstall all USB drives. There should be one for each USB port, and then restart.

To open Device Manager, go to the link below and follow the steps:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-Device-Manager

    (c) Windows should re - find all of the devices. If it is not the case, note the error message and let us know.

You can also navigate to the link below and follow the steps to install the USB device.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/install-a-USB-device

I hope this helps. Let us know the results.

  • Can I have the HP Portable hard Drive 500 GB connected all the time to the laptop?

Hello. I bought a HP Portable hard Drive 500 GB with USB 2.0 to 3.0 running on Windows XP in a Toshiba Satellite laptop since 2003. I had a few problems, probably due to the low speed of my USB port, but now it seems OK, as I moved it to a different USB port according to the instructions for help. My question is if the hard drive has been designed to be connected all the time or if I have to disconnect me and just use it whenever I have store information. Thank you

  • Iomega Portable hard drive now does not appear under "Devices" after accidentally deleted USB cable. USB

My Iomega eGo Portable hard drive was connected by USB on my Macbook Pro OSX 10.9.5 cable and I was transferring my iPhoto folder.  Unfortunately, the cable dropped and I got a message on my laptop hard drive had not ejected correctly.   I reconnected it the cable, but now, it does not appear under devices in the search page.  I also checked the disc utilities and it isn't here either.  I tried to connect the hard drive of my iMac, but it does not appear in the devices out there either.

Although I have been using a Mac since they first appeared on the market and can usually work things, I find it more and more difficult with all the new technology.  Everything that used to be so easy, one of the great things the Mac since MS-DOS.

If anyone can help I would be very grateful, because I have a lot of files on this disc of old Mac and use the Iomega to backup my most important files.

  • How can I transfer my favorites on an external/portable hard drive?

I know that similar questions had been asked, but the responses I've seen seem to be too techie or does not apply. The bottom line is I lose my cell phone next week and would like to transfer Favorites (and Outlook address book if someone who knows also) on my WD portable hard drive. Thank you!

If you go to view all bookmarks (Ctrl + Shift + B) or:

    • Bookmarks > show all bookmarks

There should be an option to "import and backup". You can export your bookmarks to an HTML element and save the file wherever you want. You can then import this file in Firefox on your new laptop computer.

What photo app are you using and are really still on Tiger 10.4.1? Finally, we need to know how the EHD you use are formatted. If you n ' t know this, select the drive in the Finder, and then type the command-I (as Ivan) and search for information on the format.

If you are not sure which version of Mac OS X, please click on the Apple symbol in the upper left corner of the screen and select about this Mac.
