You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Your relocation was made of a set of recovery discs Dell - which uses a key to Dell and cannot be enabled on any other brand.

It's a Dixons computer odf, then I suspec that the COA sticker on the case is for XP Home edition, while the installation is Pro.

You need to return to this system to its licensed version of Windows by using the recovery media for that PC - or a good disc XP Home OEM System Builder.

    Hello

You uninstall not she, you reinstall Vista on top of it

You have the Vista DVD, so do a clean install with it.

As Vista is pre-installed you will need probably not the Producr Key that is on the sticker on your laptop if you use of the manufacturer provided recovery disk

If you need it, insert the product key from the sticker on the laptop case

Boot from the Vista DVD and follow the instructions of the manufacturer.

Make sure that the CD / DVD Drive (optical drive) is the 1st in the boot order.

  • Lost windows vista cd that came with the laptop

    Hey guys,.

I own a t500 and I lost my cd of windows vista that came with it. I had planned to reformat my computer. What are my options to get a new copy of this cd? and lets say I wanted to upgrade to windows xp or 7, so which version should I?

Thanks a ton guys, I appreciate it.

Microsoft's XP cd won't work, unless it's a XP OEM disc (that microsoft not distribute themselves). Also, you would need XP series No. to activate the XP operating system which you do not have.

Try to call Lenovo and they can send it to you for free, as long as you have the remaining warranty.

  • How can I get a key product validation for Windows XP to the OEM of Vista Business downgrade, which came with my laptop?

I recently bought an Asus laptop that came with a genuine product key Vista Business OEM. I want to downgrade to XP and have installed a copy of XP OEM for this purpose I have found information on the internet indicating that I would be able to contact Microsoft, explain my desire to downgrade, to provide them with my Vista Business product key, and they would provide me a product key for XP, I could then use to activate the copy of XP I have installed.

However, it seems that it is more possible, because all the support activation is automated, and I was able to get a Microsoft service on the phone representative to activate my new installation of XP. How can I do to receive a product key for XP and activation of my installation?

    Thank you

    Scott

Thanks for the replies, you two! I called Asus, and they said that, since they do not recommend the downgrade, they do not downgrade disks provide, or provide for XP Pro license keys in case a user wants to downgrade. I told them about the rights of download, which I had heard before on the MS site support and they have always said they wouldn't / couldn't provide me with a license key, even if it was for OEM Windows XP distribution. Ah, well!

I don't think that Asus just "recommended" it or not!

    They must conform to Microsoft.

Can I downgrade my OEM version of Windows Vista business to Windows XP Professional?

Yes. Right of demotion OEM desktop operating systems PC apply to Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Edition full, as stated in the terms of the license. Please note, downgrade versions OEM Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Ultimate are limited to Windows XP Professional (including Windows XP Edition Tablet PC and Windows XP x 64 edition). End users can use the following media for their downgrade: Volume Licensing media (provided that the end-user has a Volume License Agreement), trade retail (FPP) or System Builder hologram CD (provided that the software is acquired in accordance with the Microsoft OEM System Builder License). Use of degraded operating system is governed by the Windows Vista Business license terms, and the end user cannot use the downgrade and professional Windows Vista operating system. There is no right of demotion for Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Edition Home Premium.

    Hello

    It is not Microsoft.

These are public Forums set up by Microsoft on their servers and animated by them.

We are mainly Windows users help each other here.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact Sony and ask them to send you a set of recovery disc for this model.

They should do this for a small fee.

Like you have never had a DVD to reinstall, you'd have a recovery partition on your hard disk to reinstall the operating system from and you should also have her recovery discs...

But thanks to you, formatting the hard drive, you have probably wiped it clean.

Ask Sony to support whether if it still exists.

And contact Sony and ask them what version of bits you had on that.

They say the serial number on the case.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

  • How can I get a new vista drive came with my laptop?

Hello I have a problem. My computer has been infected by spyware 2 weeks ago and I decided to reformat my computer from windows Vista to Windows 7 now, I realized that I need to get windows 7 on my computer and want vista back but the disk I had received with this laptop is broken. I have a product key for Vista and I wonder where and how do I get a new drive, because I will not buy a new system, when I have a key product for vista, but can not use it?

    Please please help me

Contact the manufacturer and they should be able to provide a set of recovery disc (for a small fee) which allows to re - install Vista and your computer to the original factory conditions.  If you are past since the initial purchase, to mention this and they may be able to provide records with the appropriate operating system (although I'm not sure that they can or will do it and if you have a product key upgrade, rather than a full installation product key, you will not be able to activate with this key (unless made one update-so be sure what you want to do is possible before you spend the money).

If you know someone with a real Installation of Vista on the same size disc of the bit, then you can borrow it and that allows to install Vista and use your product key to activate it assuming that your product key is designed for a complete installation, not an upgrade (and select the version appropriate to install).  You can then copy this disc in case you need it again.  If your product key is an upgrade version, then you must first re - install the original operating system, enable it to using the product key, and then improve it with the disk and use your Vista key to activate the upgrade.

There is no place for a drive or a free download of Vista.  Above are your options.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Windows games that came with my laptop

I do I have re - captured windows games that were installed when I bought my laptop? I don't have a DVD? is there way to re - install these games?

If these are the games that come with Vista, then you should be able to get them back by going to Control Panel / programs and features.
Then click on "Turn Windows Features on and out"
Expand the games section and select the games you want to be active again.
