Gateway computer with internal SDHC 8 GB card readter HDSC read not

I have a computer of the gateway, under Windows XP SP3, which has an internal SDHC card reader and it is not read my 8 GB SDHC card.  He reads a 32 MB SDHC card very well; I don't have mid-sized cards to try to see which might work in other sizes and those who don't.  Other questions posted, it seems that there may be problems with SDHC cards when the size reaches 2 or 4 GB.  This could be a problem to address, not being able to address larger than this size memory?  Questions and answers about maximum memory for Windows XP 32-bit suggests that there is a limit of 4 GB of physical memory in the computer; is there any reason this would apply to SDHC memory cards?

The problem with playing SD cards > 4 GB is that they are high capacity cards (SDHC), and older SD card readers may not be able to read them.  If your card reader can read a 32 GB SD card, so this isn't your problem.
The limit of 4 GB of RAM for 32-bit OS like Windows XP has nothing to do with the ability to read a media device of mass as your SDHC card storage.
It sounds as if this particular card is bad.  The only practical method of testing I can think right now is to try the card on another computer.  The 8 GB card works in your camera or other device?
You have an in addition to the integrated external card reader?
If you have data on the card that is important to you, it might be interesting to buy a cheap SDHC USB card reader or take a card to someone who has a (I suspect that FedEx/Kinko's or Staples might even be able to copy your files off for you - if the card is not bad).
