General question about the procedures and functions

Hello!

I know, I can define and use a function within a procedure. But can I set up and use a procedure inside a procedure?

Thank you!

Hello

But can I define and use a procedure inside a procedure?

HMMM... was it so difficult to test this?

CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE xy_main
AS
PROCEDURE xy_sub IS
BEGIN
NULL;
END;
BEGIN
xy_sub;
END;

Or you actually meant the procedure inside a function
It's also not difficult :)

CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION func_xy_main RETURN NUMBER
IS
PROCEDURE xy_sub IS
BEGIN
NULL;
END;
BEGIN
xy_sub;
RETURN(1);
END;

See you soon!

  • General question about the updates and version number

    I have a general question about versions and update.  I'm new on this and am in the deep end of learning I want.

    In vSphere web client, I see the following versions (these are exactly as the seller, he left a few months that I have screenshots in my documentation that match)

    Version - VMware ESXi, 5.1.0 1612806

    Profile - Dell (updated) ESXi - 5.1 - 799733 (A00)

    I am trying to familiarize themselves with the Update Manager and I noticed that there are a lot of patches and updates available.

    Lists of Update Manager 5 patches as "Missing" with Red x but directly above them are a list of patches with green tick indicating that "installed" - it is perhaps obvious, but im guessing 'installed' means really installed when displayed on the screen - there is an update installed, labeled "ESXI 5.1 all the update 2-' would be able to tell that it has been installed by the details of profile/version above?

    I don't think it's a big deal at this stage, but if I install all missing patches and then the details of the version/profile change in summary screen?

    I hope this makes sense.

    Thank you

  • A question about the methods and parameters.

    Hey guys, this is my first post here. I am very new to Java and done a bit of C++ before Java. I had a question about the methods and parameters. I do not understand the methods; I know they can be repeated when it is called, but it's almost everything. I also know that a program should have a class that contains the main method. What I really, really understand on methods is what the parameters are. I know they are in parentheses and that is it. Could you explain what they are? I really appreciate it. Thanks to all in advance. Best regards, Michael

    Taking an example:
    Suppose you calculate area of the rectangle you need two inputs one is the length and the width. Area = l X b, where l = length, b = width

    If your method, say, calculateAreaOfRectangle (length int, int width) will be two parameters as arguments.

    System.out.println ("field of rectangle:" + calculateAreaOfRectangle (40,30);)

    public int calculateAreaOfRectangle (int length, int width) {}
    int area;
    Area = length * width;
    return of area;
    }

    So if you call this method then the output will be returned in 120.

    Parameters of a method are simply the input variables for the method of treatment for all calculations or something useful.

    And we cannot have methods inside the main method in Java. It is in the java syntax and if you do, it will throw a syntax error.

  • Question about the interruptions and priming

    Hello

    I had a few questions about the startup and interruptions in a virtualized environment

    Assuming that, plenty of virtualization (no material assistance to virtualization of memory ).

    1 initialization: in an ordinary PC, the boot process starts with the BIOS, to expansion ROM, back to the BIOS and MBR secondary boot record, then grub (is it) and finally the operating system. In a virtualized environment with VMM running directly on top of hardware (Native VMM), how is the initialization of the different process, as I understand it takes BIOS-> Expansion ROM - > BIOS-MBR-> other record secondary-> VMM-> OS--> applications >. Am I right on that?

    2 breaks: VMM examines the source interruptions prior to the interruption, so in a multicore environment, assuming a 2 processor core, how the VMM decides on the kernel for which the interruption in intended, prior to shipment of the interruption. Interruptions are tag ID, said core ID?

    Thanks in advance

Am I right on that?

    It is simplistic but essentially correct.  A metaphor would be a little better thinking that the hypervisor/vmm is an operating system, except that the process on this operating system are requests or comments OSes.  If the BIOS-> OPROM-> BIOS-> MBR-> hypervisor-> init process of the hypervisor-> reviews of fork () s operating systems.  This can become blurred by the design choices (for example Xen/Hyper-V init start a coded parent hard partition that makes hypercalls privileged to fork() guest OSes; ESXi init runs a very limited subset of applications directly on the hypervisor and ESX Classic is somewhere between these approaches).

    There is a subtle distinction between "hypervisor" and "www."  The "hypervisor" is the operating system of single root (e.g. ESX) who interacts directly with the hardware and has access to everything; a hypervisor is not to be used to run virtual machines.  When we talk about a "hypervisor", the tendency is to describe something which is a BONE (although usually a minimal OS designed only to run virtual machines).  The "www" is the layer that allows a virtual machine run: it provides the interposition, virtualization and emulation services and can be plural (for example a vmm by guest operating system).  Architecture of VMware deal with these two separate components, while most other virtualization platforms merge the two.

    Strictly speaking, the interruption is not transmitted to a guest operating system - receives the hypervisor (or rather the VMM it transmits to the hypervisor), the hypervisor drivers interpret the interruption (for example reading package of NIC, I/O process of HBA, the timer tick completion), then after a new appropriate break in the guest OS.

  • General question about the themes...

    Good day to all... A few Questions on the themes and my options for my app:

    Im running 4.2.4 on XE currently... and Im using the 25 responsive Blue theme...

    Some of my users are commenting that the application takes a bit of screen estate leaving less room for the actual data. They also comment that it's a bit boring!   (and for reference, they also use applications created using DevExpress by another development team... (https://demos.devexpress.com/RWA/SalesViewer/RevenueBySector.aspx) for an example...

    So, I'm looking for options theme... If I look at the standard themes, I have 4 themes style HTML5 (23-26), which all use a lot of screen space (probably because they are designed with tablets in mind)...  But if I want to use a smaller style then Im left with just two styles a bit smaller (21 and 22). Who are both very close and very grey and bland... (let's call it company)...

    I have also to search the Web and found very few themes available... There are a few sites, but nothing spectacular...  So on my questions:

    Ive been told I should not use the existing themes, as are day a non-compliant with new browsers. However, some are very nice, and it's a shame, that they should not be used...

    Did someone knows if they will become in the future, is it possible to migrate the? What are the implications of the use of one of the old legacy themes?

    Version 5 will implement some new themes?

(for example by changing the general theme to a more obvious color..) My thought is around 5 or six changes their that change the appearance / colors/style throughout the entire application etc...

    As discussed in one of your previous threads, some 'legacy' themes are older than others. I wouldn't really classify a focus standards mode introduced in APEX 4.0 as "legacy", unless you need a complete support on mobile devices. As already said, I would like to avoid completely the themes of quirks mode 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19 and 20.

    No one knows if they will become in the future

    Unlikely. A few fairly important bugs in original/first themes have never been fixed, so it is unlikely that Oracle will spend any effort to change them in the future.

    is it possible to migrate their?

    Regarding the themes inherited from 'real' quirks mode (marked with a ' * ' and listed above), my advice would be Don ' t bother. IMO, none of them are visually interesting enough to be worth the effort. Migration would imply:

    1. Adding a DOCTYPE HTML5 at all page templates to the trigger standards mode
    2. Validate the HTML code for all models
    3. Modify the HTML code to make it as standards compliant as possible
    4. Validate the CSS for all style sheets
    5. Edit the CSS to make it as standards compliant as possible
    6. The appearance test, dynamic behavior and accessibility in all required browsers
    7. Fixing of Visual rendering, dynamic behavior and accessibility (HTML, CSS and JS)
    8. Repeat 2 until levels required compliance to standards, rendering, dynamic behavior and accessibility are met.

    It's not trivial.

    What are the implications of the use of one of the old legacy themes?

    The themes 'true' legacy to be run in quirks mode, there will be problems with:

    • Lack of support for some features of APEX 4.x (for example, selectors of the region and interactive reports on the theme)
    • Incompatibility with jQuery waiting / requires the standard mode
    • Incompatibility with modern browsers and devices (pre - 4.x themes have been designed to be compatible with IE6 and equivalent browsers)
    • Incompatibility with modern HTML and CSS features due to running in quirks mode (there is a problem in Internet Explorer more than other browsers)
    • Accessibility issues
    • Difficulty overall customization appearance due to the incorporation of Visual elements (images and background colors) in table HTML layouts

    Designed for Internet Explorer, the situation is much worse. Basically, there is no support for everything that didn't work in IE6 (for some values of 'work'). This means no CSS3, no support for many useful things from the CSS 2.1 (e.g. attribute selectors) specification and no support for the various elements and HTML attributes.

    For the themes "inherited" standards mode, there will be fewer questions, probably mainly related to accessibility and support for non-bureau devices.

    See also was content to change the Page size for a similar description.

    Version 5 will implement some new themes?

    Yes.

    Are at - it somewhere that Ive missed all good themes 'out there'... ?

    Third party themes are available (usually for a price) from various places.

    What other ways are there to customize the new themes... (and Im not a Web Designer and not a CSS expert either)?  Is there a generic method of simple method to change the topics without hours exploring CSS... (for example by changing the general theme to a more obvious color..)

    Probably not. Especially for a novice not familiar with more advanced CSS techniques.

    My thought is around 5 or six changes their that change the appearance / colors/style throughout the entire application etc...

    This is likely to be amazingly difficult as the new themes make great use of the edge of CSS technical bleeding with several layers of rules to specify the appearance of a component. Heavy duty also includes CSS sprite images, which means that this customization requires editing of image as a substitute or changes to the CSS rules. See the following for examples:

    Hello

    Simply create a TYPE for strong cursors, returning the specified columns. For genereic, or the low sliders, there is a TYPE integrated, namely SYS_REFCURSOR.

    Try this:

    CREATE OR REPLACE function test_f(p_DEPTNO in emp.DEPTNO%type)
      return SYS_REFCURSOR
      as
         REF_C     SYS_REFCURSOR;
    BEGIN
         OPEN  REF_C  FOR   SELECT  *
                             FROM    EMP
                      WHERE   DEPTNO = P_DEPTNO;
         RETURN REF_C;
    END;

    You don't want to close the cursor service.

    Always format your code.

    I can find it by querying ad_bugs but how do I determine this patch introduced this bug?

    You'll have to ask numero_de_bogue is ad_bugs table. For a list of each patch fixes, please see the Readme for the patch. You can also view the same OAM.

    Also, what is the association between bug_id and bu_number?

    BUG_ID is simply a sequence and numero_de_bogue stores the patch number.

  • Some General Questions about the externalization of authentication

    We plane to outsource the APEX authentication so that it would be linked to the credentials of the end-user network. Were do because:

    It is more in line with the expectations of the users.
    It will simplify maintenance by the user.
    When the user leaves the ice, their APEX access will be automatically disbanded as their network connections are disabled.

    We found some very good articles on the subject, for example http://www.greenit.li/greenIT/Willkommen_files/Oracle_APEX_ProofOfConceptNTLMPLSQL.pdf (other suggestions would be welcomed and encouraged). However; We have a few questions:

    The first is authentication and authorization. We get how end users can be authenticated based on Active Directory. However, within the APEX now, create us a new user and specify if who are developers, who, team development Application Builder, SQL workshop, they can access. schemas are accessible to them, etc. This page requires, of course, a password.

    How will this work if the authentication is outsourced? We always create the same user in the APEX?
    If so, what should we put the password related areas?
    If this is not the case, how do we control authorization once authentication completed successfully?
    If not, how to make the application available for users (authenticated network) and not others?
    If the application allows the user to pass a password (assuming that they are properly connected to the network), what should happen when a person clicks on logout?

    Thank you for any input,

    The only thing that comes to mind is running a scheduled task on your databases which retrieves users APEX in the APEX_WORKSPACE_APEX_USERS view, checks the user account is still valid in AD using dbms_ldap (assuming that the user IDS match, or there is a convention to get from one to the other) and removes , expires or to block those who are not using the APEX API. To be honest, the evolution of the DBMS_SQL is somewhat confusing, but suffice it to say the DBMS_SQL. Procedure BIND_ARRAY is not what you are looking for.

    The DBMS_SQL. Procedure BIND_ARRAY binds each value in the array to turn to * separated * execution of the SQL statement, which is similar to the FORALL in native dynamic SQL statement. While this works well for INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE and works in principle with SELECT statements, which, according to me, you actually get is the result of one of these performances that is clearly not what you want.

    Instead what you are looking for is one of the overloads of the DBMS_SQL. Procedure bind_variable that supports the binding types of collections, but will not work with SQL, you have now the paragraph uses a literal in, you use is a MEMBER OF (which is AFAIK not call to the index) or treat the collection in a table via the syntax of function () TABLE and each join or use it as an IN subquery.

  • Variable binding in the procedure and function

    Hello

    I started reading ORACLE 11 g R2 PL/SQL programming doc and I'm stuck to bind the variable. I just copied the example in the books and found error-

    First of all, I wrote the procedure below and compiled with - success
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE FORMAT_STRING ( string_in IN OUT VARCHAR2) AS
    BEGIN
     string_in := '[' || string_in || ']';
    END FORMAT_STRING;
    Then I wrote below function and also compiled successfully-
    create or replace function join_strings  (str1 varchar2, str2 varchar2)
    return varchar2 is
    begin
      return str1||' '||str2||'.';
    end;
    Later, I wrote the code below in the SQL Editor and found the ORA-00900 error. Please help me to understand.
    variable session_var varchar2(200)
    call join_strings ('I Love','you') into :session_var;
    call format_string(:session_var);

    Later, I wrote the code below in the SQL Editor and found the ORA-00900 error. Please help me to understand.

    variable session_var varchar2(200)
    call join_strings ('I Love','you') into :session_var;
    call format_string(:session_var);

    If you want to do it in PL/SQL, you can use an anonymous PL/SQL block like that.

    set serveroutput on
    declare
      session_var varchar2(200);
    begin
      session_var := join_strings ('I Love','you');
      format_string(session_var);
      dbms_output.put_line(session_var);
    end;
    /

    If you want to run directly in SQL Plus you can do

    var session_var varchar2

    exec :session_var := join_strings ('I Love','you')

    exec format_string(:session_var)

    print session_var

  • A question about the security and economies of pdf

    Please, I have another couple of questions, but on security and the economies of pdf:

    My first question, how can I build a prompt this popup when the form is loaded or open that asks the user a certain password used to show/hide or enable/disable some fields or objects in the form?

    My second question, how can I save the form with a name derived from a field value in the form, or a user by name which is entered by a prompt window when the form is opened or initialized?

    Any ideas, please!

    Thank you

    Mustafa

    Hi Mustafa,

    I have an example here where the script in the click event of a button prompts the user a password. If they enter the password, then four locked fields are made available to them.

    http://assure.LY/ge8Ra9

    You can copy this script to the node docReady event root (usually ' form1'). It would then fire whenever the form is opened.

    One thing to keep in mind is that this solution uses a function (called "hex_sha256"), which is within a Script (called "soHASHING_SHA256") object.

    This allws function allows you to use the hash key, so even if the user types the password (in this case "1234"), the script converts this value to a hash of key '03ac674216f3e15c761ee1a5e255f067953623c8b388b4459e13f978d7c846f4 '.

    This means that if someone looks at the form they cannot determine the password.

    Start by copying the script object and the button in your form. Then try to move the script to the button in the docReady event. Take a look by using the LC designer for more information on script objects.

    The second issue is possible, but it is considered a security risk, so you will need to use a function of trust (which is in a separate JavaScript file that should be stored on each computer that uses the form). It is very difficult to maintain. There is a long thread here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2266799#2266799

    Hope that helps,

  • Question about the ttAgingScheduleNow stored function

    Hello

    I have a table like (time, DATE, State CHAR (20))

    The status field can be 'CURRENT' or 'out of DATE '.

    Scenario: When a record is created, the status field is COMMON. My requirement is that, after a while, he must convert BLAND.

    I can implement a policy of aging (temporal) on the table, and can also call the ttAgingScheduleNow of the stored procedure to the age of the entry.

    However, aging, it deletes the whole line, does not update.

    Is there a way to change the function (or extend) it so that instead of delete the line, it will update another field in the same row?

    Thanks in advance.

    TimesTen 7.0 does not support user code stored procedures/functions. Logical as this must be an external program coded in C, C++ or Java.

    The next version of Timesten is planned to support the PL/SQL. In this version allows you to encode a stored procedure in the same way as you can in Oracle DB.
