Generating a lot of archive logs

Hi friends,

We have an EBS 11i on AIX 5 L... who has just been setup and ready for PSU... but the AppsDBA/Functional Consultant who didi it are not about more to ask some questions. I just noticed there are archived daily logs generated... like 30 balls... when in fact the request is not used. Are there concurrent programs
that has been put in place to update the data on a process in the background, like recursive update that is not really necessary. How can I check if there are updates to facts.

Thank you very much

Not necessarily because of this simultaneous program. Your audit logs files is using LogMiner. LogMiner can be used to track any data manipulation language (DML) and instructions to run on the database data definition language (DDL).

I have a 11.2.0.4 db using Data Guard to play with. I just set up and could do a failover and vice versa.

However I have noticed there are great number of generated archive logs, one every minute. As it is an empty database, I wonder why?

    Hello

  • too many archiving logs to be generated

In my oracle9i database, too many archiving logs to be generated per day.

    What could be the reason?

    Kind regards
    MKA.

    Hello

experienced developers that there are too many duplicates present and implemented to date.

So developers are updating a Table in order to eliminate duplicate rows, is it good? I'm not sure I understand the situation.

In any case, during the update operation, you will need to control the destination of the journal archived so that it does not completely fill. You can do this BACKUP and delete newspapers archived or compress them or moving to another location.

Otherwise, try checking whith the developers if you define a primary key or a Unique constraint on this Table, in order to avoid the lines double in the future.

    Hope this helps.

  • Find the archive logs generated per day (for 7.3.4 database)?

I use a query like the one below to determine the average amount archives logs generated per day for a database for a month:

Select sum (GB_USED_PER_DAY) count (GB_USED_PER_DAY) in (SELECT
    To_char(completion_time,'YYYY-mm-DD') completion_date,
    round (SUM (block_size *(blocks+1)) / 1024 / 1024 / 1024, 2) GB_USED_PER_DAY
    V $ archived_log
    WHEN TRUNC (completion_time) BETWEEN
    TRUNC(SYSDATE-30) AND TRUNC (SYSDATE)
    GROUP OF TO_CHAR(completion_time,'YYYY-MM-DD')
    order by 1 desc);

This query does not work on Oracle 7.3.4 database. Anyone know how I can calculate average archive generation of newspapers per day for Oracle 7.3.4?

    Thanks in advance!

    Select substr(first_time,1,8), round (sum (bytes) /(1024*1024)) MB of v$ log group by substr (first_time, 1, 8);

I already said it was not possible to disable it-why do you think it is called mandatory audit?

You can not turn it off. You can try to reconfigure some of these connections that use SYSDBA or SYSOPER to use something else instead, or write a script to delete the files of audit from time to time

  • Lost archive log?

I'm migrating to a new server so I installed oracle new to this all the old server db Server export then import to the new server.

I also delete backupset and achivelogs to FRA it will clean them all since I use not anyway archivelog. After completing the import, I'm back once again archivelogging and run the backup RMAN. To my surprise, he is looking for a missing achivelog? How is it possible when I came from noarchivelog option? It's the error in the log RMAN:

  • Backup of archive logs

I have a cron job that backs up complete zero on Sunday.  I have an another cron job beginning level 1 backups, Monday to Saturday.  I have a 3rd cron that runs every 2 hours for each day of the week in order to safeguard the archive logs.

I have concerns with the 3rd cron job.  Lets say the data in the database has not changed in the last 2 hours.  This cron job would always run this script, create another backup rman (taking more space on the server).  Is my understanding correct that rman is not smart enough to know what data has changed during backup of the Archives of newspapers so that the two components of backup are not store duplicate information? The reason why I think it's because the size of the pieces cackup for this archive log backups stop a lot of the time very similar (but not the same) in size.

Lets say the data in the database has not changed in the last 2 hours

That you have taken backup the archivelog at 07:00 and the next execution of the annex is at 09:00. Say that there are about 100 archives that have been backed up at 07:00. And from 07:00 until 09:00, there was that no transactions took place, in other words, that the data in the database has not changed in the last 2 hours.

In this case, RMAN wouldn't be backup archives that have been backed up at 07:00. If there is no generated archives between 07:00 and 09:00, RMAN wouldn't save anything.

If the archived log was not saved, it will be.
If the archive log was not saved and is missing, you will get an error.
If the archived log was backed up, RMAN will not back up again.

  • Archive log file bloat - is currently out of cold back to the top of the best strategy?

    Hi friends,

I have a database 10 g. / WinSvr2003 making heavy spatial processing of the Oracle.

Previously, I ran the database in log mode archive and sparked a lot of files to archive log. 150 G (the worst week).

I got fed up with backups (incremental) RMAN night heavy and put the database in a mode non - archive journal. (I was also worried about the time to get the data back out of band).

Now, I come to launch the next nightly bat file: -.

    oradim-stop-sid DEV - syspwd *.

    del /S /Q D:\oracleBackup\DEV\*

    XCopy/e D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\DEV D:\oracleBackup\DEV

    oradim-startup-sid DEV - syspwd *.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 week ago - when I arrived-in the morning the database had not restarted due to an inconsistency of data file.
    Recover the database fixed.

I guess he had something that this necessary in the redo log files? (its mode no - archive).

    I have a DB 24/7.

This cold offline backup is the best strategy to avoid the bloat of log file archive

I can always use RMAN and do not back up files of newspaper Archives? How can I make sure that it is a consistent RMAN backup if she has no access to archive the log files. (I just use RMAN after an immediate stop - restart?)

How instruct you RMAN is not to get the files to archive log?

DATABASE INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 BACKUP; <-this leaves archive the log file out of the backup.

    Thanks in advance.

    See you soon,.

P.S. This is my first post on this forum. Yes!

    If you
    a. make a backup of the database CONSISTENT (that is to say in MOUNT but not OPEN) with RMAN
    b. do not save the ArchiveLogs
    c. yet the ArchiveLogs to create the database in ARCHIVELOG mode,

You can still use the combination of consistent backup and ArchiveLogs generated since the backup database (assuming that the ArchiveLogs are still on the disk) in the method of 'Refresh '.

In other words, RESTORE (but not RETRIEVE and OPEN) the database of the RMAN.
Using sql RESTORE DATABASE with the HELP of BACKUP CONTROLFILE to 'Updating' then apply ArchiveLogs for what is just restored.

  • Pull on the RMAN backup archive logs?

    Environment:

    Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE on Solaris

    Physical standby

I have a gap of journal archive at the moment.  The missing archive logs have been saved on the primary and have not yet been transferred to waiting due to some maintenance work performed on the standby server.

The database will be able to recognize that the missing archivelog files are in the RMAN backup files, restore them and send them to the update server standby for application?

If not, will it restore manually, copy them to the standby server and save them for their application?

Thanks a lot for your help!

    -gary

Were the archivelogs deleted on the primary once they have been saved? If they have been deleted on the primary, then you can:

1 manually transfer the backup to forward files

2 replace the archivelog destination configured on the eve

3 restart the managed recovery on the standby process, and the computer should be able to detect and apply the missing archivelogs.

If they have not been deleted on the primary and are always available in the archivelog directory configured, then the process of Data Guard should be able to detect and automatically fix the gap.

If you have a long interval archivelogs missing and you use + ASM, you can also try to use an incremental backup to roll forward the database pending, this article provides a good step by step: the steps for Rolling forward a standby database using RMAN incremental backup. (Doc ID 836986.1)

  • format of archive log

    Hi all

I use the oracle on linux 5.5 version 11.2.0.1.0 database.

    SQL > show parameter log_archive_format;

    VALUE OF TYPE NAME

    log_archive_format string %t_%s_%r.dbf

But when I checked the generated archivelog file that archives are as below:

    [oracle@localhost 2014_03_31] $ ls - ltr

    9764 total

    -rw - r - 1 oracle oinstall 9708032 Mar 31 17:33 o1_mf_1_64_9mlpdzz4_.arc

is there a reason why the archives are like that. Please share if you know.

Thank you for reading and sharing.

This is the default behavior of oracle. When we put the parameter log_archive_dest_1 then in this case it uses log_archive_format parameter format.

    Question

    1. How can I delete old logs archiving without using RMAN?

    2. How should I know which Archives connects to keep and delete?

    3. is there a way to know why the database generates so many newspapers to check-in?

    Hello

Yes, you must keep this archive. You can schedule the job to compress files to archive (record use of space) and move it to another place as a backup.

You can schedule both COLD backup once a week, in this case it is scabies archive for a week.
