Get colors used in a PDF file via the plug-in

Hello.

I have a PDF file with some text colors red, blue some color texts and a few text colors...

I want to get how many colors used in the PDF file.

I think that only to get the list of colors with the audit of all the characters in the file.

It will take a lot of time.

Y at - it an idea to make the easier colors?

Best account.

erieru103

You don't have to get all the characters, you can get the "text runs.

However, be aware that PDF has 11 different METHODS (color spaces) - so that you understand all of these different ways we can say 'Red' or 'blue '.

    Hi manojp35249311,

Acrobat 7 is not compatible with Windows 7, so it's difficult to judge how the application on an incompatible environment will behave.

Please attach a screenshot so that we can diagnose the problem correctly.

  • How to detect the color pages in a PDF file?

    I use a plug-in of Acrobat C++ read/modify a PDF file.

I need to get the total number of pages in the PDF file and the page numbers of the pages in color.

So far, I was able to get the total number of pages using PDDocGetNumPages() with no problems.

However, I can't find an API that lets me know if a particular page is color or not. Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks in advance!

But what happens if there are RGB data which means black or grey (R == G == B), that means black or RGB?

There is a code sample in the SDK to browse content in the PDF file, and then you can get the color space and color of each object.

But you really need to do background research on the colors & spaces to achieve this properly.

Is this really the case with the free player, the clients can access is no longer a PDF to add comments and mark out? We have always used a PDF file for the reviews of books/documents, but now we hear customers that there is no way to add comments and annotation. Please let me know if this is the case, or if there is a solution

'' If '' they use the free software Adobe Reader and "If" there is no security prevent this, he should be able to add comments.

It'll be hard to say what's wrong without more details such as what exact version of the reader they use, they open the pdf file in a browser or in the player itself and what exactly happens when they try to add comments.

    I found the solution:

In the PDF file, click View > Navigation panel > Pages

I had to reset panels to view the Pages again.

  • Is there a way to detect if the PDF file is the original of our server, or a local copy.

    Hello

We are currently generating very large PDF files in our industry that contains industrial revenue and users should always use the latest version (one located on the server - the pdf has always the same path and file name)

We already had bad experiences when users were using a file that has been saved on the desktop and was obsolete.

We want to do is only to print the PDF file from the server and disable printing when the file is on the desktop, or in any other place.

So my question is: are there at - it a way to read the path to the file when printing and disable printing or use addwatermarkfromtext if the path is not the path to the server?

I hope my question is clear and I will find a solution.

    Thank you.

A script can be used to detect the location of the file, but you can't stop to print. However, you can display a warning label if it is not located at the desired location. So let's say you set a text field hidden with the warning message, called "PrintWarning". You can then use something like this as a script Will Print the file:

if (this.path!="....") { // here you need to enter the path of the file on the network drive, which you can get from the console by executing this.path
        app.alert("Error! You should not print this file from your local computer!");
this.getField("PrintWarning").display = display.noView; // The field will be visible on the print, but not on screen
    } else this.getField("PrintWarning").display = display.hidden;

PS. I'm moving your question to the Acrobat JavaScript forum, where he is best.

  • Disable the opening of PDF files in the browser.

    Hi guys,.

I'm deploying DC to my environment, but only one requirement is disable the opening of PDF files in I.e.

The only work to date is to * manually * disable the Adobe PDF Reader add-on in IE11.

    I tried:

    1. GPO to disable Adobe PDF Reader. The add-on comes as disabled, but a PDF file will always open in IE.

    2. the HKCU entry for bBrowserIntegration = 0. It makes no difference.

The second step is the only one I've ever used for reader XI and it satisfied my needs. Someone at - it run in this yet? It's really weird that manually disabling the addon works (all PDFs pop out of drive) but if I re - enable and disable then via GPO, the opening of PDF files in the browser.

    Hi christopherh31260325,

Please provide detailed information about your question.

Could you please try to uninstall and reinstall MS Reader from the link mentioned below:

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC install for all versions

Then, try to disable the opening of PDF files in the browser after you follow the instructions as indicated in the link of doc KB:

Reference: Acrobat Help. Display PDF in browser. DC to Acrobat, Acrobat Reader DC

Let me know if it helps.

    Kind regards

  • Newb: cannot display PDF files in the browser

I have a new Windows 7 computer and have installed Acrobat Standard 9.3.2 and Reader 9.3.1.

Whenever I try to 'download' (i.e. display) a PDF file in the browser IE (or Firefox 3.6), I get the following error message:

"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a Web browser. "

Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required.  "Quit and try again."

The error remains the same that either Acrobat or Reader race / is not running before the attempt to download.  My workaround solution is to save the file to disk, and then open it.  It is a pain and should not be necessary.

Any advice anyone can give me to fix this problem will be received with thanks a lot!

  • How can copy text from a PDF file in the right order?

I get texts translation of customers in PDF files. I need to copy some of the text of these files in Word, but the selection of Adobe jumps tool documents around, seemingly at random, sort of paragraphs and lines from different locations on a page are automatically selected together. The tables are particularly bad. If I try to copy an entire file, receives yet more random order. For example, all the titles of the document can be gathered in one place. I tried various PDF conversion software. They put all the PDF content in the areas of text, which is not suitable for my purposes. I want to just copy the PDF files in the exact order in which they appear on the page in text form that I can handle in Word. I'm now up to version 9.3.0 and there has been no improvement. Is there a solution to this problem?

    Hey, Marcoola.

I agree that by copying and sticky from PDF to Word maunally are really difficult and tedious work. I have encounterd this problem before. Fortunately the problem can be solved perfectly now. I recommend AnyBizSoft PDF to Word Converter, which is totally free for months before. This conversion mode supports three app - batch, partial, right-click conversion and it even supports encrypted PDF conversion, previously you must have legal rights. And the conversion quality is superb, all the original text, page, images and hyperlinks will be preserved in an editable word document. It is more useful than those software online for free. It will be useful.

  • problem with opening pdf file of the web browser

I have Acrobat Pro ver 6 and Adobe Reader 9.1 on a computer.  When my user tries to open a pdf file from the web as it gets the following error message:

"Adobe Acrobat/Reader that not running to view the PDF files in a WEb browser.  ADBE Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required.  Quit and try again. »

What also happens is that Acrobat Pro 6 worm opens and nothing is there.

I don't know why he received this message from Reader 9.1 is installed.

One can shed some light on this for me.

This user must have Acrobat and Reader on its system.  I understand that there are problems with having both.

It has also set up so that any PDF opens using Reader 9.1.

    Thank you

Configuration of your PC drive by default for embedded PDFs has become confused, because of multiple solutions of Adobe PDF documents installed on a PC.

    Solution 1:

    Go to start > run

Type regedit, and then click OK.

Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe

Make sure that the correct default data value is set to the path where are installed the Adobe Reader or Acrobat.

    The default installation values are:

    "C:\Program 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe Adobe.

    or

"C:\Program Files\adobe\acrobat 6.0\acrobat\Acrobat.exe" (not sure of this path.  Make sure that on your PC)

If Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat is installed.

    Solution 2:

Configure the browser to use Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application.

If you use Firefox to browse the web, you can change this setting in Firefox by clicking on:

    Tools > Options

    Click on the "Applications" tab

The first item in the list should be "Adobe Acrobat Document".  In the Action list, click the drop-down arrow and select the application you want to read a PDF file in the web browser.  Click OK and you should be done.

If you use Internet Explorer to view a PDF file, try the steps below.

After you configure Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application, the browser starts the helper application in a separate window and displays PDF files within this window. Acrobat and Adobe Reader both include a preference that allows you to specify the Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application.

To configure Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application:
    Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
    Choose Edition > Preferences.
    Select Internet on the left.
Deselect Display PDF in browser using [Acrobat application], and then click OK.
    Quit Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
The next time you select a link to a PDF file in the browser, a dialog box asking what you want to do with the file. If you select open, the browser opens the PDF file in Acrobat or Adobe Reader (request for assistance); If you select save it on the disk, the browser saves the PDF file on your hard drive.

  • Cannot open PDF files in the browser. I tried every fix mentioned and it still does not work!

I have Windows XP. Using firefox as my browser. All of a sudden, I can't open the PDF files in the browser. I tried all the mentioned patches. Nothing works! Check the configuration of the plugin, checked the settings Adobe Reader.

Is the problem that Firefox opens a blank tab, or that it requires you to download the file?

I guess you tried switching spectators between the internal viewer and the Adobe plugin. If this article does not, steps: How to disable the built-in PDF Viewer and use another Viewer. Sometimes behind switching will allow to correct an error in the settings file.

You can rename or delete the settings file that stores these associations and have Firefox regenerate. If the file is corrupt, this could be the only option that works. Here's how:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using

Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

Leave this window open, activate any Firefox window and quit the program (for example, the file menu > exit or Firefox menu > Exit)

Pause while Firefox finishing his cleaning, then rename the mimeTypes.rdf to something like mimeTypes.old

Restart Firefox. Your likely PDF preferences will be reset to the internal PDF Viewer, but you can activate the Adobe plugin as described in the above-linked article.

    Any improvement?

  • To open a Pdf file on the second monitor

Original title: two monitors and open files
    Hello!!

I have now two monitors on my desktop and I want to know how I can open a PDF on the second monitor, and keep all my PDFs on the first monitor? I want to simply click in the file - on the first monitor - and the file opens automatically on the second monitor.

    Thank you

    M. Vilela

    Hello

Try these steps and check if you are able to open the PDF file on the second monitor...
    a. open a PDF file. Now, UN-maximize the file.
    (b) move it to the other monitor.
    c. now, close the document without maximizing it on the new monitor.

    d. now attempt to open a PDF file.
    e. it should open on the second monitor.
    f. maximise, close the vial.
    g. now opens a new PDF on the new monitor, and it will be maximized when opened.

Adobe will remember whether or not a document has been expanded and open PDF one another in the same way, but it will update the monitor to use when a document is closed so that not maximized.
