  1. When I design a Web site for a target group, which has a screen size minimum of 1280 x 80 Px, wouldn't it make more sense to design the Web site a little wider instead of using the 960 grid?

• Where is the CS5.5 to CS6 Web Design Premium Upgrade download link?

  I bought the CS5.5 Web Design Premium equivalent to benefit from free to CS6 upgrade when it is released.

  After too breaking autour with Adobe services customer (week after week), I finally received mail upgrade disc (I am based in the United Kingdom).

  The problem I have now is that this disc has become scratched and I look forward to receiving another disc.

  After talking with someone via chat online, I was told that only those who have purchased an online copy may download it. As I bought directly through Adobe by phone, I had no right to an automatically generated download link.

  The upgrade also does not appear in my product pages.

  So, can someone please help to know where I can download a copy of the upgrade, rather than wait for it to pass in the post?

  As long as you have the serial numbers for the upgraded version and the version of basic (CS6 and CS5.5 respectively in your case) programs will install fine. Download the demo version of www.adobe.com/downloads/ and install the software. The installation will ask you perhaps for the CS5.5 serial number (after you have entered your serial number CS6). The installation file or the setup.exe file is the same on drives and on Adobe.com.

• IM new web design and need advice

  Im very new web site design and need some advice. Ive been designing with Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign for a few years and say im at a high level of proficiency with them.

  I am now wanting to move in design for the web. I just learned html and css and I'm learning Flash and Dreamweaver. I have so many questions that I put everything at once.

  The first question is how all of these de-it-ur-self sites using CMS affect the market of the Web designers? It reduces demand for web designers because most people will now be able to build their own Web site using templates.

  Secondly, what languages/programs, and in what order do you think would be useful for someone like me who wants to double as a graphic designer/web designer to know.

  I went to see a professor on the subject and he said that if I am primarily a designer (who am) as opposed to a developer I should just learn html, css and javascript. But others said that, beyond the creative skills of a designerit is very useful for a freelance or someone in the job market learn MySLQ, ASP, coldfusion, PHP, and many others.

  Please give me advice. Your suggestions will be much appreciated.

  of course, it has an impact on the way people develop Web sites. but I don't think that the market will suffer serious problems from it. There are very many companys who want professional web developers with a unique design and structure. You can, of course, deal with it using wordpress & co. by yourself. not as a whole structure, since it will be maybe not quite adaptable. You can use it as a structure for articles as well - on blog.banklupe.de: they designed a unique structure for the Web site and used the CMS of wordpress for the blog - and has adapted, he would comply with the CI. the advantage: wordpress is easy to use and webdesigner have better to do than post blog - writers can do themselves.

  --> the market is constantly changing, just learning how to benefit from. :-)

• Site Web scaling problem - please HELP!

  I apoligize, because I am sure that this is a common problem asked. But these forums to search I could not find anything posted thereon.

  So I'm not too familiar with Dreamweaver, I know the basics. I recently put a website together, not using tables or anything like that. I have a Macbook Pro and the resolution of my Web site to fit the screen on my laptop. But when friends go to my page that is either too big or small on their screens. I tried to Google for a solution, but these are mostly the people saying you shouldn't use a code to scale or to say that you need tables. I thought that maybe someone here might know of a way around this. As it seems it would be a common problem.

  N ° there is no miracle cure for it because you used all these APDivs to position the elements on your page.  Had used CSS positioning by default (i.e. no positioning) as well as the margins or on floats, it would be much easier to rebuild.

  BTW: you have a bunch of code validation errors on your page.  CSS selector names can't contain spaces.  Use these validation tools and fix the errors reported.

• After the upgrade to Firefox 5, I get a message: "Firefox is currently in offline mode and cannot browse the Web." IE 9 connects to the web without problem. Suggestions?

  This began immediately to FF5.0 installation after the upgrade to FF3.6.18. I uninstalled and reinstalled both 3.6.18 FF and FF 5.0: the old version connects to the web without problem, but FF5.0 never does. IE9 is able to connect properly.

  Did you remove all traces of high level in the layers (i.e. "layer-1") Panel?
