GPIO for ettus N210

Hello

LabVIEW allows you to program the GPIO pins on the n210 ettus?

Hi bobbob1,

LabVIEW does not program the GPIO pins on the N210 or any other model of USRP.

That solved. It took me some time to learn how to change a JAD property. Now it's working. I used the project properties page and add a custom attribute "GPIOSample-ButtonId" with a numeric value in the element of the Application descriptor and the attributes tab. Now the demo works.

  • NIMAX, how to create a digital line for address GPIO

Please, let me ask you a question about IO port address the NIMAX and PC.

I have an industrial PC with available GPIO ports.

The example of reading and writing address was broadcast on the underside.

    address port number is 50Ch.

How can I create the line digital 50Ch in the NOT-MAX.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

MAX is useful for the hardware configuration of OR.  Since this GPIO is not a product, NOR it will be not configurable in MAX.

  • Incompatible JavaDocs for com.oracle.deviceaccess.gpio package

The JavaDocs for the com.oracle.deviceaccess.gpio package is not compliant:

The actual package contains this statement: "Note that the GPIO pins that are part of a GPIO port cannot be retrieved or controlled individually as GPIOPin instances."

Some time for GPIOPort it is said: "notes that if the GPIO pins that are part of a GPIO port can be retrieved and controlled individually as GPIOPin case, depends on the hardware configuration and the platform (and especially if the GPIO pins can be shared across different abstractions)."

"Impossible" and "configuration" are mutually exclusive statements logical, and even there is an explicit method of the API to access individual of GPIOPin instances actually do belong to a GPIO port, which is GPIOPortConfig.getPins ().

Not only, it's confusing, but he did actually cost me valuable points in quiz 2 - that I decided to go with "is based on the material" - so: is NOT impossible. I'm pretty angry that my response was assessed as wrong while he was in fact correct. (Moreover, the pines are always part of a port. So what you actually say in the JavaDocs / ask in the quiz is not about pins gpio and gpio ports, but on GPIOPins and GPIOPorts - which is something totally different and requires a different approach: shared vs. exclusive!

(I would have sent the last line as direct to Tom message if this learning platform would have allowed me.) "Unfortunately it didn't, so now the quiz is indirectly published response which was not my intention.)

    Hi Markus -.

I agree that the two statements in the javadocs are incompatible.  Don't forget: you're working with EARLY ACCESS software and documentation (and training!)  As I said at the beginning of the course: some stuff might not work.

As for querying - point just as you, I learn that sometimes the answer is "it depends on the material. ''

  • JavaFX should be installed for ports gpio raspi in java programming?

I have a question. I watched the tutorials to youtube of vinicius senger

and, he said, that JavaFX should be installed on my raspberry pi.

But I don't understand why...  JavaFX is used for graphics is not it?

So why am I need to install (and overclock my IP I want to do in fact...)

When I want to just program my gpio in java ports?

I understand why should I install pi4g and wiringpi, but what I really need to install JavaFX?

Tanks to support fast and pleasant.

    Hello

In fact we provide instructions on how to configure javafx, if you want to use. It comes with JDK1.8.0 anyway and you do not need to use GPIO.

So, if you want to play with GPIO, go ahead and jump all the instructions of JavaFX.

  • Why Angela check the pins of the GPIO event when she enrolled only for a single PIN in fact?

I noticed that Angela verifies the PIN actually reported the event to change, but in fact she registered only to be informed by a PIN. This looks so much like Angela is either not trusting his own registration code, or she's not confident Java ME libraries. It can really happen than the ME libraries send a listener an event for which he in fact was not recorded explicitly?

    Hi Markus -.

No, Java ME will not send an event to a PIN that is not registered. And true, in this simple example, the check is not necessary.

The check point was to illustrate the event sent to the valueChanged method contains a reference to the PIN that generated the event.

For example, you can create a single listener for several PIN codes class.

    Hey insiderbe,

I did some research on the Ettus forum and found the following:
    https://lists.gnu.org/archive/HTML/discuss-gnuradio/2010-08/msg00237.html
    https://www.Ruby-Forum.com/topic/214890

I suspect that the IPS you see on 0Hz is the DC offset that is introduced to the ADC of the USRP N210. We can confirm this by removing air and closing the RX. If the tip is still there, it's a feature of the analog input circuit.

Brian of Ettus recommends tuning your frequency slightly out of your signal of interest and using a high pass filter to remove DC offset. I recommend looking at the second link for more information.

With respect to obtaining the value of art through many different frequencies, I think that it is a property of the antenna used. The VERT900 is valid from 824-960 MHz and 1710-1990 MHz. can you listen to one of these groups and test your power, even if you have a known signal? You have another USRP generator or a function to generate a known signal?

My last concern use the N210 with the CBX in LabVIEW Communications. According to the Readme, it's an unsupported hardware configuration, which means that R & D has not tested the configuration, and we do not know how the configuration will occur.

Looks like my firmware again? I am not allowed to download the old versions of the FPGA firmware.

Can someone help me with this problem please?

    With respect,

    Hello Sigurd,

The NOR-USRP driver requires a specific firmware and FPGA image to be downloaded to the USRP to exploit.

You can use the utility of Configuration USRP download appropriate firmware and FPGA image to the usrp.

  • The NI USRP-295xR RIO allows a front-end Ettus BasicRX IF-sampling? And what is the rate of the ADC to FPGA data?

    Hello!

I'm in the quest to replace some aging PCI-5640R. I am currently using as a portable-Journal data solution, mounted in a Magma Expresscard to PCI box with a laptop. As a reference of the time, I use a Symmetricom XLi.

The equipment is dependent on the sampling finished a set of samples once a trigger signal goes high and also receive antenna azimuth information using two lines PFI more. The signal is sampled at IF, 30 MHz, and the signal is less than 5 MHz bandwidth.

Now, I started watching the Ettus X 301 with a GPS OCXO and MXI-express interface which should be the same as the USRP-295xR NI. It is available as device NI RIO with three different front ends, unfortunately, none of them work at 30 MHz.

Q-1: Ettus has the front-end 'BasicRX', but it is only considered compatible with LabVIEW driver and not necessarily with the RIO. Is the front-end BasicRX usable with the USRP - 295XR RIO and MXI-interface with LabVIEW FPGA? Should I just avoid trying tune the nonexistent LO? As long as he gives me data, I can live with some error messages during the Setup...

It's the best solution for me, but if it is absolutely impossible, I have a few questions:

Q-2: information on the front end are really rare in the pages Web OR both Ettus, but the WBX is listed up to 50 MHz frequency, to have a filter of low pass of bandwidth of 40 MHz to I and Q. This should mean a total of 80 MHz of bandwidth with I and combined Q,-40 to 40 MHz. Why did the bandwidth to Web pages as OR listed being "40 MHz bandwidth in real time", if the low pass filter of the WBX is 40 MHz in I and Q? Not the band total bandwidth or 80 MHz?

Q-3: assuming a bandwidth-40 to 40 MHz: could I put the WBX LO at 50 MHz, be tuned to the frequencies from 30 MHz to 20 MHz signal,-20 MHz and use a bandpass filter to the FPGA to extract the new signals and remove all other signals?

Q 4: I tried to start a FPGA project in LabVIEW and add the x 301/294xR/295xR as a target. Data clock is locked to 120 MHz, which I guess means he will receive no data to 120MS/s IQ? The x 301 Ettus is listed as provide data of the ADC to the FPGA at a rate of 200 ms/s, could someone explain to me why, OR USRP RIO expects only database 120MS/s?

    Hi Idar,

Yes, you should be able to put the basics on your X 310/USRP RIO and use LabVIEW FPGA to receive 120 MECH. / s of the DACs.  The example I posted is in fact not for the precompiled file bit.  The example I posted is for LabVIEW FPGA, which allows you to add the IP address for the FPGA.  There is a sample project that comes with LabVIEW FPGA which is the recommended starting point to build your FPGA application.  The sample project has all the configuration set up as well as broadcast continuously and pads/FIFOs in the FPGA and examples for synchronization.  There are comments in the code example that show where he must add your own blocks of property intellectual as a filter and decimater you mentioned.  The PDF I posted shows what changes you must make to this sample project using the Remora Basic/LF.

I would like to know if I'm not explaining this clearly, or if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help you!

  • My new N210 always show "local oscillator 1074118626 does not lock in time.

    Hello

About error 'local oscillator 1074118626 does not lock in time', I found the thread as here, but in my case, this error only occurred when I used two N210-newly buy.

When I put the two side of the transmitter, which takes place the error in writing-VI (niUSRP write data Tx (CBD 2D) .vilocal oscillator does not lock in the allotted)

When I do them as a receiver, that erroor come once again an insider-VI (nuISRP Initiate.vi)local oscillator block does not lock in the allotted)

I have replaced those two with the old N210 and the error disappear. Why?

    Thank you ~.

    Hi Libby,

On the firmware and FPGAS, I always make sure that both of them are updated. Thanks for your suggestion.

Finally, I found the answer to ' why this problem (local oscillator 1074118626 does not lock in time) has occurred "because unsynchronous LO between the two USRP. I had solved the problem after connecting the two USRP with MIMO cable without any change in the LabVIEW code.

I do not know why the old USRP didn't need this synch thing... anyway... I am pleased that my problem has been resolved.

  • Source a current Sine using USRP N210 with Labview

    Hello

I use USRP N210 with boards LFTX/RX for communication (electromagnetic Induction) cable and programming using LabVIEW and downloaded the drivers. I need to order the USRP to send a signal sine of 1 MHz through the barbed wire. I used the "Sine simulation block", but I'm not sure the block to which it must be connected to. Please let me know the steps or the blocks/screws that can be useful.

    Thank you.

    Hi Julie,.

I think you need to use the open niusrp and log screw

You don't need to use the configuration VI signal because I think that you can not set the frequency of the carrier on the Remora LFTX and LFRX.

I think you can use the sinus blocks of generation as shown in the picture as an attachment.

    Thank you.

  • Problem with connecting to USRP N210

    Hello

I have some connection to the USRP N210 device problems. I have 2 in my possession at this moment and I use a switch to connect the two to my laptop. Thus, 1 has a IP address of 192.168.10.2 and the other has 192.168.10.3. I can connect however only la.2.3 device and not a. Even when I plug unit only 1 to my laptop (without the switch), I still can only connect to the peripherique.3 and not la.2 one.

.2 device appears in the application of devices to find however and I can ping to it. Only when I try to connect to the device through Labview, I always get an error.

You have any ideas about what could go wrong here?
