GPS status

How can I know if the GPS is available and its level of signal?

It helped me. The lastValid and the _numOfSatellites are global:

if (location.isValid()) {
  lastValid = System.currentTimeMillis();
  String satellites = location.getExtraInfo("satellites");
  _numOfSatellites = Integer.parseInt(satellites);
}

Cheers... B

  • Re: Problem connecting GPS AT100

I have a Tablet AT100-100, that I just bought. I seem to have trouble connecting with GPS. I have activated the GPS according to the instructions of the manual, but still cannot connect with GPS. I tried to connect on google maps and was able to connect via wifi, but when I turn off wifi, I can not connect via GPS only. Is that what I can do to activate GPS or is it a hardware problem

    Hi toshibakias,
personally, I own an AT200, then I am not a perfect fit for your question.

I wonder if you confuse the GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) with GPS (Global Positioning System) here. GPRS can be used (pretty much as WiFi) on some devices to get a connection for data transfer. GPRS is not a feature of the AT100 (or AT200) but many phones.

But if you mean a "fix" of GPS with the term "connection", then hopefully that operate you with the following steps.

    #1
I recommend that you install the App "GPS status" for greater transparency. In this application, you can see if GPS is basically permitted and one count how many satellites is currently on view (+ reception quality). In addition, you can trigger a download of AGPS data (if a wireless Internet connection is at your fingertips) that can speed up the first fix.

    #2
    Go outside.
GPS (for the most part) only works under a clear sky. Avoid the secondary buildings which can protect the reception of the GPS Satellites. The number of satellites for the application "GPS status" should increase now.

    #3
    Be patient.
Get the position (= fix) may take several minutes. Especially if the GPS receiver is used for the first time or if the situation has changed considerably since the last use, a first fix may take up to 20-30 minutes. Generally, it should take about 5 minutes if GPS reception is good and maintain you an almost constant position.

If you have the GPS 'fix' once, future GPS corrections could be faster. Also GPS position power (!) be still available at the entrance of a building (near windows, at least).

  • GPS suddenly stopped working on iPhone 4S

    Hello

Suddenly, the GPS on my iPhone 4 works a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was the app, but I noticed that is not work in other applications too, so I think it is necessary with the GPS on the phone itself. I did not change anything to cause the problem, it happened by itself.

In troubleshooting, I have reset the GPS repeatedly following the instructions found on Google. I downloaded an application called State of the GPS and at first use, it showed that I had a few signals, however, it was a cloudy day, so I was not too concerned. I thought that the reset had solved the problem.

No... so one day completely clear, I had "Bad difficulty" on GPS and GPS status while it is on the slopes of Ski or Argus application.

I have reset the GPS again. Still no joy.

I've updated the OS 9.2.1 reset and re-callibrated GPS doing the figure 8 sweep as suggest on Google with the airplane off the coast Mode. I still have some difficulty on the State of the GPS, no GPS on the Ski slopes and Google Maps doesn't have a clue where I am. Of course, on location services great for these applications.

    Are there other solutions?

    Thank you very much

    Rosaroo

    Hello Ros,

If the GPS on your iPhone does not work properly, first try the following troubleshooting steps for location services.  If these steps do not resolve your problem, you may need to update the iOS software.  Don't forget to backup your iPhone before you make changes to it.

Help with maps on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

    1. Tap Settings > privacy > location Services and to make, of course, this location Services and cards are turned on.
    2. Make sure that you set the date, time and timezone correctly on your device. Go to settings > general > Date & time. If possible, use the value automatically.
    3. Restart your device.
    4. Make sure that the cellular data or Wi - Fi is enabled.
    5. Try another location or switch to another Wi - Fi network.

Services Locator uses GPS, Bluetooth and Wi - Fi hotspot and cell tower crowd source places to determine your position. Learn more about The location Services on your iOS device.

Privacy and location for iOS Services 8 and iOS 9

    Enable or disable location Services

You can enable or disable location Services in settings > privacy > location Services. You can enable location-based Services during the wizard process of installation or later through the creation of location-based Services. You can individually control applications and system services have access to the data of location Services. When location Services are disabled, the apps can't use your position in the foreground or background. You will thus limit the performance of various Apple and third-party applications.

Settings > privacy > location Services.

Settings > privacy > location Services > System Services.

    Reset or disable location Services

Location warnings are applications that make the apps (for example, Camera, compass and maps so that location-based applications) to use the Services of location with these applications. An application will ask you to leave the first time, he needs to access the data of location Services. Allow tapping will give this app permission to use location Services according to your needs. Tapping can not prevent an application to access the data of location Services. Apps don't use your location until they asked permission and you grant permission.

If you want to reset all settings to factory default location, go to settings > general > reset and tap reset card and privacy. When your location and privacy settings are reset, apps will be stop using your location until you grant them permission.

    Improve the accuracy of GPS

GPS accuracy varies according to the number of visible GPS satellites. Location of all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. Follow these tips to improve the accuracy of the GPS:

    • Make sure that you set the date, time and timezone correctly on the device in settings > general > Date & time. If possible, use the value automatically.
Important: Incorrect settings on your computer can sync to your device. Check the date, time and time zone on a computer that syncs with your device.
    • Restart your device.
    • Make sure you have a cell phone or Wi - Fi network connection. This allows assisted GPS (A - GPS) on the device to locate the fastest visible GPS satellites, in addition to providing information about the initial location using Wi - Fi or cellular networks.
Microcells (sometimes called Femtocells) are not supported with location Services.
    • Keep a clear view of the horizon in several directions. Please keep in mind that walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains and other obstacles can block the line of sight to GPS satellites. When this occurs, your device will automatically use a Wi - Fi or cellular networks to determine your position until the GPS satellites are still visible.

Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again

Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again

    1. Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, borrow one from a friend or go to an Apple Store or service provider authorized Apple for help.
    2. When your device is connected, force restart it: press and hold the sleep/wake and home for at least 10 seconds, and only release when you see the Apple logo. Keep until you see the screen in recovery mode now.

    3. When you see the option restore or update, Choose update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Please wait while iTunes downloaded the software for your device.

If the download takes more than 15 minutes the device out of recovery mode, you must repeat these steps and choose restore instead of update when you return to this step.

  • After the update or restore is complete, configure your device. If you have backed up your device with iTunes or iCloud and you need to restore your device in step 3, you may be able to restore from your backup during installation.
  • Take care

  • Yoga 10 wifi and GPS problem

    Hello community,

I plug a few days ago a YOGA-10 Tablet (data system below).

    I am facing two problems:

    (a) my wireless is very poor. I am often out of wifi coverage and everyone around, with other devices work fine.

    (b) I need the Yoga-10 to test GPS based applications.

However the GPS is too often lacking.

I also use MobiWIA GPS status & Toolbox app and trip a 50 kms with my Yoga in the front seat, I get 0 fixed satellites (although only visible 10-11) on 80% of the time (other devices get 100% coverage).

    Any suggestion?

BTW, as far as I understand, Yoga-1 does not support satellite Glonass, right?

    Thanks in advance

Has taken my tablet from Lenovo service that they replace the display (?) and it worked!

Now, I have good signal GPS and WI - FI

    Concerning

  • Duo of liquid E3 - poor GPS

    Hello

I recently acquired a new Duo of E3 liquid as a replacement for my Samsung S3. Although various other smartphones by Acer seems to have GPS related questions, Googling or searching this forum for problems with liquid E3 GPS give no result.

So what is the problem?... When using instance Endomondo Sportstracker (but it also happens with other applications that use GPS as FlitsMeister), it takes time before a fixed GPS point is located. When the system is finally a solution, he frequentsly loses the position (and then it takes about 1-2 minutes before either a fix once again). This happens especially during the passage of large buildings.

Because I never had this problem with my old smartphone, I find this you be depressing real for liquid E3. Mostly because I have no other complaints about the device! =)

Advice on how to fix this? (I've already installed the tools such as GPS status & Toolbox, but its certainly not getting better)

    Thanks in advance!

    Ruben

But Im still waiting for a clear response from Acer itself.

  • GPS does not not on compact Z3

GPS functionality seems to be completely broken on my new Z3 compact.

Any application that uses the GPS all hangs at "waiting for location" indefinitely. I tried Google maps, GPS Status, Runkeeper, etc.. For the test I changed my location for "device", the network location does not work.

Tried to disable & turn on GPS, hard reboot, even a factory reset in the end. Nothing helps.

GPS works for other users of compact Z3? My hardware is really bust?

    Antti

    My,.

What I tried to say below is that 'only the device' IS NOT work.

Or rather does NOT work, it seems that my problem was simply the fact that I had tried to use the GPS inside. I think that I've used inside buildings GPS devices and they worked at least to some extent, so I couldn't believe that I don't get any kind of fix with the Z3C - but it seems that this was the case. Outside the GPS works well, get the fix is fast enough and the location seems accurate.

So: user error , thank you for taking the time!

  • Time of Acquisition GPS worsened considerably

It seems to me with update for Motorola Version.2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US/BP_C_01.09.07P this GPS Acquisition time worsened considerably. I used to acquire GPS in seconds, now, it often takes several minutes.

I say only this seems to be related to Motorola Version.2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US/BP_C_01.09.07P because it seems to be happened in the last week or two when my phone probably updated to the new Version of the system.

Also NAV and other GPS applications (probably ship with Android OS or DROID X) behave differently (and not better) from a user interface point of view.

Is this related to the update of the software of Motorola Version.2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US/BP_C_01.09.07P?

Anyone else having this kind of experience?

Running Android 2.2.1 with system Version 2.3.340.MB810. Verizon.en.US/BP_C_01.09.07P on two months, DROID X.

    Andrew Morris

I encountered this problem as well.  I reboot and the problem is solved. When the GPS is blocked, I ran GPS status (free app) and the status shows display usually only 1 satellite was acquired, when I see typically 8 to 10 with the right signals. When hung, the GPS can work indefinitely and never acquire enough satellite data in order to put in place a location. The only possible model that I have observed, is that GPS suddenly seems to occur when the phone is in mode "sleep" for a long time, such as during the night. While the problem seems to occur more often with the last OS update, it appeared also when you run the previous version of Android.

I have several popular applications that use the GPS, Google Maps, Google Earth, Weather Channel, AP News, Google Navigation, GPS and other State. I guess, but don't know, that these applications only read the registry of GPS data, but do not otherwise interact with the GPS software. Nevertheless, it could be that a request is the culprit rather than the OS or the GPS subsystem. However, I suspect the latter where resides the bug and hope that Motorola will study.

  • Problem with re - lock the bootloader

Hi can you please help me with the problem re - lock?

A summary of what has past.

After kitkat 4.4.3 GPS upgrade (from 4.4.2) stopped working, tried everything: reboot, airplane mode, clear the cache, factory reset, etc...) After these procedure, something bad happened and I was not able to start my Moto X, in the boot animation, it stops.

The search in the forum much, the only solution was unlock bootloader and RDS (fastboot) 4.4.2 - Brazil to the detail of the Motorola site.

After this Moto X was alive, but GPS still does not work, it detects the satellites, but their power level increases not (test GPS or GPS status app), when you change the precision, he complains that GPS should be on (but it's on).

So I wanted to send it to repair, because it seems question HW.

Now, I tried to re - lock the bootloader (according to the procedure of re - lock of motorola) but in the first command, I get the following message:

Explanation of the risks of unlocking the bootloader can be accessed hereand the terms legal can be found here.

In legal terms, he said, "the user understands and acknowledges that, because it can be difficult or impossible to know if or ohow a device has changed once its unlock code has been delivered to the user, Motorola disclaims any responsibility for any use of a device either, once he provided the unlock code for the device.»

Maybe someone here in the developer community can offer advice or suggestions... in the meantime, have you tried the convenience store?

    Any idea?

    Problem solved!

I upgraded the version of the os to the 7.0.0.1355 Pack 7.0.0.1672 pack and the problem disappeared.  So here's my conclusion:

-There was really a problem in the 7.0.0.1355 package and the upgrade patch I

-Since my 9930 was brand new (and never heard this kind of problem), maybe the BONE was flashed incorrectly at the factory and the upgrade to correct the situation.

  • My 7 GPS iPhone does not work in any GPS application

I got my new iPhone 7 last week. Yeaterday was the first day I tried to use Waze to give me directions to an address, but he was constantly telling me that she is looking for the GPS signal.

I first thought that it is a problem with Waze so I reinstalled, displayed/hidden it's approval of location on and outside Services, but nothing helped. I restarted the phone, even restored (Yes. I have about 2 hours waiting to do).

But that has not worked so I thought that perhaps Waze is, after all the blame. So I tried also maps from Apple and Google Maps. NONE of them could get my location. And while my position was 'fixed' at Waze, showing me home - Yes, Waze is still showing me the House status even if I am in another city - maps of Apple and Google Maps shows my post to jump around randomly on the map.

I tried to reset my edge settings, my privacy settings, each of them. Nothing helps.

Is there perhaps someone who has a solution, or should I go through the pain and try to replace a week later I got it?

  • Re: AT200 - gps receiver stopped working

For some reason gps receiver stopped working on my camera (ics at200)...
All using the internet connection of positioning works fine however.

    Is there a cure?

Have you used a gps Utility (like 'GPS Test' or 'latest coordinates GPS') to look at how many satellites were in sight? (or opportunity)

Have you tested the GPS feature outside under the open sky or inside a building.

How long wait it for the vacancy?

"Positioning while using internet ' often used completely different techniques. Google/Android to calculate the position of HotSpots WiFi known (which would have been unconsciously picked up by other android with gps & wifi active devices or streetview cars) or the cell-ID (which is much less accurate).

The AGPS (Web support) function usually reduced ownly time until GPS is ready to provide the contact information (time to first fix). Usually these data AGPS is also valid for a week or two after you download once. (The "Test GPS" app has an option to manually request the AGPS data that makes sense only if the internet is available.)

Get a first fix for GPS, especially if the last successful use of GPS was some time there can take a long time. So outside, which allows GPS, maintain a stable and up to 15-30 min wait may be required. 'GPS Test' or 'GPS coordinates' applications can be used to observe the status of the fact receiver. Usually satellites should appear almost immediately, but the GPS takes a few additional minutes until. This is the time required to download Almanac data and satellite ephemeris. (If not already obtained by an AGPS function).

  • GPS inaccurate location - iPhone 6

    Hi all

In recent weeks I had problems with the GPS on my iPhone 6.  It seems to start when my carrier Verizon sent their last updated of the carrier.  By coincidence, it was just before the latest iOS update to 9.2.1.

I had problems immediately after the update of the Verizon carrier.  I've updated the iOS to 9.2.1 and still no improvement

The specific issue is the lack of precision of location when GPS (not Wi - Fi) and also trolling juggling during a GPS that using cards from Apple or Google Maps.  When I'm not on Wi - Fi, GPS is about 500 feet to 1000 feet off the coast.  As soon as I connect to WiFi, it is immediately accurate.  I noticed that if I start a route by Apple or Google Maps on Wi - Fi and drive the road (not Wi - Fi), it loses my position and lagging.  It updates every 10 minutes or so, but it is disabled by 500 to 1000 feet.  If I depart from my itinerary it doesn't self corrects the road.

I went through the regular troubleshooting including steps but not limited to:

    • Hard reset
    • Reset the network settings
    • Reset location and privacy settings
    • Resets all the settings in my phone and did a clean install

None of these steps.  Another coincidence is that I lost the ability to backup my phone to iCloud as GPS location has become inaccurate.  I was finally able to solve the problem of backup through several iterations of the deletion and synchronization of photos.  At this point, I'm at a loss on the GPS problem, but believe it can be the related SIM card.  I'm tender hand to Verizon on this subject as well.

    Any other ideas?

Sorry, too late to change my initial post.  I wanted to inform the carrier that I found in my iPhone.  Hope this helps.

In addition, the update of the carrier on my phone settings happened when I was traveling (not in my region of origin, but in the United States).  I do not know if what counts.
