GPS inaccurate location - iPhone 6

Hi all

In recent weeks I had problems with the GPS on my iPhone 6.  It seems to start when my carrier Verizon sent their last updated of the carrier.  By coincidence, it was just before the latest iOS update to 9.2.1.

I had problems immediately after the update of the Verizon carrier.  I've updated the iOS to 9.2.1 and still no improvement

The specific issue is the lack of precision of location when GPS (not Wi - Fi) and also trolling juggling during a GPS that using cards from Apple or Google Maps.  When I'm not on Wi - Fi, GPS is about 500 feet to 1000 feet off the coast.  As soon as I connect to WiFi, it is immediately accurate.  I noticed that if I start a route by Apple or Google Maps on Wi - Fi and drive the road (not Wi - Fi), it loses my position and lagging.  It updates every 10 minutes or so, but it is disabled by 500 to 1000 feet.  If I depart from my itinerary it doesn't self corrects the road.

I went through the regular troubleshooting including steps but not limited to:

  • Hard reset
  • Reset the network settings
  • Reset location and privacy settings
  • Resets all the settings in my phone and did a clean install

None of these steps.  Another coincidence is that I lost the ability to backup my phone to iCloud as GPS location has become inaccurate.  I was finally able to solve the problem of backup through several iterations of the deletion and synchronization of photos.  At this point, I'm at a loss on the GPS problem, but believe it can be the related SIM card.  I'm tender hand to Verizon on this subject as well.

Any other ideas?

Sorry, too late to change my initial post.  I wanted to inform the carrier that I found in my iPhone.  Hope this helps.

In addition, the update of the carrier on my phone settings happened when I was traveling (not in my region of origin, but in the United States).  I do not know if what counts.

  • Problems with wifi, bluetooth and gps in my iphone after updating iOS 6

    After that the last iOS 9.3 update my iphone 6 has problems with wifi, bluetooth and gps. Now, my wifi connection is slower and falls easily on a short distance. My bluetooth does the same. But the biggest problem is the GPS on my phone. I tried Island:

    -By doing a reset network

    -Do a reset total and restore my phone

    -To restart my phone twice.

    -Audit and third-party applications unnistalling

    Nothing works. I was in the apple store where they checked my phone and they say everything is ok with the phone. I'm not crazy, and I know when something does not work correctly. Also, I think it's iOS 9.3 update a reaponsible for my phone issues.

    Please fix bugs fast.

    Having the same exact problems since the upgrade. In addition, battery drains very quickly now, and sometimes the phone becomes very hot. It took to the Genius Bar and they told me everything was normal in the diagnostic tests. Restored, restarting, etc., and always the same problems. GPS locates me, but then don't follow my movement at all and told to go outside as the gps is not detected even if I am outside. Bluetooth connection to the car and watch grave intermittently. Signal WiFi is greatly reduced and falls easily.

  • problems of gps and wifi iPhone 6 9.2

    My iphone 6 does not connect to the wifi unless it is less than 5 feet from the router and the GPS can't find my spot.  This has happened since Apple updated the software around the release of the 6s.

    None of the versions subsequent correction of the problem, nor has any troubleshooting discussed in online forums, proposed by technicians apple or carried out by technicians from apple to the store.

    My phone is a few months after its warranty (how convenient for apple) and they would not replace it without paying me $ 280 to do.

    I am a few months since my full upgrade with Verizon, but the lack of GPS and wifi not connecting not caused much frustration and data usage, which was costing money because it does not connect to wifi when the fact of other devices in my apartment.

    This is one of the worst customer experiences I've had with apple.  I'm on the edge of Verizon plan, which allows me to update when I want if I don't care keep my phone or get money to trade it.  I'm two months from own the phone outright, but I will probably go to a Samsung better buy a promotion gift card $ 150 to go to Samsung and trade in my iPhone.  I'm an advocate of Apple for a long time, but clearly widespread lack of solution to this problem is not a good look for a company that built themselves on the convenience and simplicity.

    After two months of headaches, I feel like it's worth to wait until March and I should not have to this fact.

  • Location iPhone 4S services dimmed after 9.2

    I know that I have a dinosaur of the iPhone, but I love my little 4 of s.  Just updated to iOS 9.2 and location services are grayed out.  I can't find any setting process or restore.  Thanks for all the ideas.

    Do you have any restrictions on? I ran into this issue when I have had share my location disabled in restrictions (not in the parameters of location, but under restrictions itself). Once I allowed him, I could see again the location services and make changes. Individual applications needed to be admitted again once they are open again, but the parameters of the system should be visible.

  • GPS recording location is not in LR4.1?

    Hello

    I'm beating my head against a wall trying to export the GPS coordinates.  Here's the situation:

    Lightroom 4.1

    Camera (Canon) FIRST imported from the camera directly to DNG (no info from the current location)

    Location added via the card module and additional metadata (caption, keywords, title, Copyright, etc.) added

    Save location is not the Private value

    Export parameters of metadata "Delete location info" is NOT selected (that is, do not remove it)

    I export to jpg, and the location is not present.  Flickr can't see it and I load it into Photoshop and look at the metadata and location is not there.  I have also used other tools online to verify it is absent, as well as Geosetter.  If I put it in Geosetter, data is then he.  However, Lightroom 4.1 is not save, and I scoured all the parameters that you are looking for other options.

    Help?  This is essential to my workflow, and I would prefer to do as much as possible inside the LR and not having to use external tools.

    Thank you

    Jeff

    They keep changing the names!   It's now a metadata section, sorry.  But you put it at all, so it's anyway.

    My next port of call would be to try trashing prefs, maybe even try a clean user account if you want to exclude a lot of things in one shot.

  • GPS tracking location problem

    Hey everyone, I am using 4.6 jde

    I try to use the Coordinates.distance () function within an app that I'm building and my problem isn't really with the function itself, if I am controlled with 2 coordinates variable declared in the function that I use it it works. But I try to use a global variable of coordinates with this function, and when I try to update this variable seems not updated correctly. Dunno if im explaining so here is the code...

    //within uiapplication class
     private Coordinates _last;

     private class PaceListener implements LocationListener
        {
            public void locationUpdated(LocationProvider provider, Location location)
            {
                double longitude = location.getQualifiedCoordinates().getLongitude();
                double lat = location.getQualifiedCoordinates().getLatitude();
                System.out.println(longitude);
                System.out.println(lat);

                if(_updates == 0)
                {
                    _last=(Coordinates)location.getQualifiedCoordinates();
                    _updates++;
                    System.out.println(_updates);
                    return;
                }
                else{
                    Coordinates temp= location.getQualifiedCoordinates();
                    System.out.println("_______"+_last.getLongitude());
                    System.out.println(temp.distance(_last));                _last= temp;            }

            }
        }

    So my problem here is that no matter what the final location was System.out.println ("_" + _last.getLongitude ()); still prints the longitude variables temp. It's my debug output

    first round-

    21.0
    34.0
    ___21.0
    0.0

    second update-

    -81.0
    43.8

    Thanks in advance for any help

  • iPhone GPS 7 evolving in the cards

    Is anyone having problems with the GPS on the iPhone 7? In the maps, my 'place' (i.e. the blue dot) jumped all over my current position. There don't seem to be getting a lock on my current GPS location. I noticed that it affects other applications that use the GPS.

    GPS works fine on my iPhone 7.  Maybe it has to do with how you zoom your map.  I have mine showing about 1½ miles up and down the screen of the iPhone.

  • Problem with GPS in very remote locations...

    Hello

    I could get is SOS capacity in these areas.

    The GPS of the iphone did not work (location services). I got iphone apps preloaded for the trip, but because the GPS does not work I could not use them. It is, has it been fixed for iphones later, or do you need always mobile reception to get the GPS to work?

    Dissapointingly, I had to go back to my old windows phone where the GPS worked. The apps I had already downloaded for the iphone

    and windows phone had full maps already downloaded (as they were the map apps) for the region, in that I was.

    This may be a limitation of the application in question against the GPS hardware in the phone.

  • The GPS on my Apple Watch can locate me

    Hi, I use a Apple Watch with watch OS 2.2.2. So my problem is this, since a few days that my watch stopped to tell me what time the sun rises and sets. (see the upper left corner of this image below)

    I looked up online and found the easy solution for this: Use Plan to locate the Apple Watch with GPS.

    But it did not work. He did not because the problem that I am facing is different from what I initially thought it was. The problem is that the Plan is not able to find me more.

    If I open the Plan, it will load for always for my position, as you can see on this picture below.

    I tried to restart the application by holding down the home button and taking again. It will make even the app load indefinitely.
    I also tried to restart my Apple Watch completely, and as you can probably, it is not always help me.

    So now, I couldn't have tried a lot of things yet - but I'm running out of ideas to solve this problem.

    Can you help me please? The rising sun is such a great feature on the Apple Watch!

    Thank you very much.
    -aSynotte

    P.S.: Please note that the problem occurred also on watch OS 2.2.1

    Apple Watch doesn't have a GPS. It uses the GPS of the iPhone connected to GPS to find your location.

  • GPS suddenly stopped working on iPhone 4S

    Hello

    Suddenly, the GPS on my iPhone 4 works a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was the app, but I noticed that is not work in other applications too, so I think it is necessary with the GPS on the phone itself. I did not change anything to cause the problem, it happened by itself.

    In troubleshooting, I have reset the GPS repeatedly following the instructions found on Google. I downloaded an application called State of the GPS and at first use, it showed that I had a few signals, however, it was a cloudy day, so I was not too concerned. I thought that the reset had solved the problem.

    No... so one day completely clear, I had "Bad difficulty" on GPS and GPS status while it is on the slopes of Ski or Argus application.

    I have reset the GPS again. Still no joy.

    I've updated the OS 9.2.1 reset and re-callibrated GPS doing the figure 8 sweep as suggest on Google with the airplane off the coast Mode. I still have some difficulty on the State of the GPS, no GPS on the Ski slopes and Google Maps doesn't have a clue where I am. Of course, on location services great for these applications.

    Are there other solutions?

    Thank you very much

    Rosaroo

    Hello Ros,

    If the GPS on your iPhone does not work properly, first try the following troubleshooting steps for location services.  If these steps do not resolve your problem, you may need to update the iOS software.  Don't forget to backup your iPhone before you make changes to it.

    Help with maps on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

    1. Tap Settings > privacy > location Services and to make, of course, this location Services and cards are turned on.
    2. Make sure that you set the date, time and timezone correctly on your device. Go to settings > general > Date & time. If possible, use the value automatically.
    3. Restart your device.
    4. Make sure that the cellular data or Wi - Fi is enabled.
    5. Try another location or switch to another Wi - Fi network.

    Services Locator uses GPS, Bluetooth and Wi - Fi hotspot and cell tower crowd source places to determine your position. Learn more about The location Services on your iOS device.

    Privacy and location for iOS Services 8 and iOS 9

    Enable or disable location Services

    You can enable or disable location Services in settings > privacy > location Services. You can enable location-based Services during the wizard process of installation or later through the creation of location-based Services. You can individually control applications and system services have access to the data of location Services. When location Services are disabled, the apps can't use your position in the foreground or background. You will thus limit the performance of various Apple and third-party applications.

    Settings > privacy > location Services.

    Settings > privacy > location Services > System Services.

    Reset or disable location Services

    Location warnings are applications that make the apps (for example, Camera, compass and maps so that location-based applications) to use the Services of location with these applications. An application will ask you to leave the first time, he needs to access the data of location Services. Allow tapping will give this app permission to use location Services according to your needs. Tapping can not prevent an application to access the data of location Services. Apps don't use your location until they asked permission and you grant permission.

    If you want to reset all settings to factory default location, go to settings > general > reset and tap reset card and privacy. When your location and privacy settings are reset, apps will be stop using your location until you grant them permission.

    Improve the accuracy of GPS

    GPS accuracy varies according to the number of visible GPS satellites. Location of all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. Follow these tips to improve the accuracy of the GPS:

    • Make sure that you set the date, time and timezone correctly on the device in settings > general > Date & time. If possible, use the value automatically.
      Important: Incorrect settings on your computer can sync to your device. Check the date, time and time zone on a computer that syncs with your device.
    • Restart your device.
    • Make sure you have a cell phone or Wi - Fi network connection. This allows assisted GPS (A - GPS) on the device to locate the fastest visible GPS satellites, in addition to providing information about the initial location using Wi - Fi or cellular networks.
      Microcells (sometimes called Femtocells) are not supported with location Services.
    • Keep a clear view of the horizon in several directions. Please keep in mind that walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains and other obstacles can block the line of sight to GPS satellites. When this occurs, your device will automatically use a Wi - Fi or cellular networks to determine your position until the GPS satellites are still visible.

    Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again

    Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again

    1. Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, borrow one from a friend or go to an Apple Store or service provider authorized Apple for help.
    2. When your device is connected, force restart it: press and hold the sleep/wake and home for at least 10 seconds, and only release when you see the Apple logo. Keep until you see the screen in recovery mode now.

    3. When you see the option restore or update, Choose update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Please wait while iTunes downloaded the software for your device.

    If the download takes more than 15 minutes the device out of recovery mode, you must repeat these steps and choose restore instead of update when you return to this step.

  • After the update or restore is complete, configure your device. If you have backed up your device with iTunes or iCloud and you need to restore your device in step 3, you may be able to restore from your backup during installation.
  • Take care

  • Issue with IPhone 6 location Services - showed me 60 miles from where I was!

    On 26 September this year, I left my home to go to work security at an event. Left after 08:00 and pulled into the parking lot of the expo center where he stood right at 830. Spent the whole day there to walk, talking to sellers, etc.. My wife is using find my Iphone app to locate my teenage son who was late home. We were all sharing connection of an Apple (we all have separate apple ID now), and my phone shows me about 60 miles away at 16:50. My position then showed about 5 miles from where I was working before bouncing to the wrong address about 60 miles away. She ping my phone by finding my phone shortly after and it shows me about a mile away before finally arriving at my real place. Looked at my phone when I got home. I checked my phone via the settings > privacy > Location Services > System Services > common places and he showed me the wrong place from 0800 to 1730. I was inside all the time in a building that is known for bad cell service. Building is also equipped with a wi - fi connection. Many sellers did business on their phones and possible hot spots. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what might have caused it. The phone seems to show the correct location after that.

    Thank you

    If the event was inside, the phone couldn't use the GPS (or cell phone because of the wrong signal towers) and was locate via Wi - Fi, of the building or the sellers.  If Wi - Fi the building wasn't in the Apple database, because it has not taken over by iPhones outside the building that uses the GPS and location sent to Apple, your phone would be stuck with WiFi from the vendor for the location.  He could end up with last recoded location of seller.

  • Calculation of the distance of the location GPS provider

    I'm looking to develop an application of GPS based location by saving a LocationListener with the LocationProvider, I need to be able to calculate the distance between two cooridinates.

    The Coordinates () .distance method doesn't seem to work, also responds to 0.

    I saw and distance example where speed and range were used to calculate, but I was wondering is this reliable?

    An alternative is to calculate the distance between two coordinates using the Haversine formula, the java class Math in Blackberry JDE however does not have the required operation atan2. Anyone know of any alternative?

    Thank you

    Dave

    In my experience, the distance calculation works.  What results are you seeing?  Are you sure these two places are valid?

    I would not use speed and interval unless there is no other choice, or that the interval was small.

    The quesiton on atan was invited to this forum, have a search for her.  Here is an answer:
