GR 2-node 2, primary CARS 11 / 2 nodes Configuration ensures RAC

My current setup is that my first is a 2 RAC node, while my expectation is a single-instance queue. I need to convert the previous day to a 2 RAC node. Anyone has any experience for this? I finished the configuration binary oracle for ASM/GRID on the supposed 2nd standby node. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Dexter

I've thought about it more and its always easy to convert the day before to a RAC database without Grid control. I always recommend Grid control. It will make your life easier. But to do this, w/o GC, the following can help:

1. I guess all your watch files are on the shared storage. You'll also need to move the SPFILE to shared storage in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs. In each O_H $/ dbs, create a softlink pointing to the SPFILE on the shared storage.
2. Add the database to the Clusterware: srvctl add database db_name - d...
For more information on the parameters of this command, see the following:
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/RAC.112/e16795/srvctladmin.htm#i1008470
3 Add the instances to Clusterware. For each node, make: srvctl add instance instance_name node_name - n-i d db_name
See the following topics:
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/RAC.112/e16795/srvctladmin.htm#i1008526

It is not as easy as all that. You may need to change the setting like setting CLUSTER_DATABASE = TRUE and the setting of parameters specific to RAC (INSTANCE_NAME, INSTANCE_NUMBER). Grid control will take care of all that for you and anything else that I forgot.

See you soon,.

  • Several primary and physical databases Configuration ensures in Data Guard Broker

    Hello

    Is it possible to add two or several primary and physical databases configuration ensures in data guard broker?

    I have 1 primary databases and two databases physical standby that is

    (1) primary that is pri - (database primary)

    (2) secondary i, e, s (physical pending)

    (3) Secondary2 i.e. sec2 (physical pending)

    Practical AM sinister place, my scenario is my pri and dry machines are in seat, if the pri crashed it switch to s that works very well and my S2 is in another area office. Suppose that if my two siege machines pri and sec crashed, so I want to do my mahcine sec2 as primary.

    I have two separate computers to the broker a headquarters and a District Office

    Use failure of quick start on Data Guard Broker, broker headquarters machine I have configured pri and dry but in sector office broker not able congifured pri and S2 and the machine.

    can be done several primary database configuration with data bases on hold?

    Has anyone done this before, or has a perform a recovery after loss of place...

    need help or suggestion

    thanx

    No.... It is not possible. When you use the DG broker, the first thing you can do in the DGMGRL utility is to deliver CONFIGURATION to CREATE. You can see on the doc of this command that you define here the PRIMARY DATABASE.

    The command to add a DATABASE to the broker, adds a new database pending. You cannot add an another primary.

    The broker configuration is explicitly for a primary and all standby databases is supported. If you have an another primary, you create a separate DG broker configuration.

  • Telnet between the 2 nodes before installing RAC 11 GR 2

    Hi Oracle RAC guru,

    For the 2 nodes were installed RAC (GR 11, 2) clusterware, they need to be able to telnet each other with port open? and ping scan name must be successful before you install the clusterware software? operating system is Linux x86_64

    Thank you!

    SC

    Hello

    the VIP and the SCAN IPs aren't yet to the ping requests (let alone telnet).

    One of the main tasks of a cluster should provide these entry points. So they will be available as soon as your IM is running, but not before.

    Make a res stat crsctl - you on your clusters existing and you will see the VIP and VIP SCAN (online) resources. If they don't are not online no VIP don't will be 'plugged' on top of your network cards.
    You can also see the IP address with ifconfig-a on existing clusters. And you will see the difference on your cluster "clean".

    this configuration will be sufficient for the highest installation? RAM? Processor?

    I've read a few threads over on this forum where people have recommended for installation of single application (11i or R12), this kind of configuration can be enough.

    Please answer.

    You need at least 4 GB for installation on a single node R12. So, if you plan to have 3 VMs (1 application node) and 2 RAC nodes or 4 virtual machines (2 application and 2 RAC nodes), then I suggest that you add more memory. However, your RAM should work, but don't expect (if you go with 3 VMs) but do not expect the performance to be perfect.

    You must use Oracle provided srvctl to manage your RAC
    You must leave your server running waiting, because other nodes are still running.

    srvctl stop instance db_unique_name d-i inst_name_list

    Table E-29 srvctl stop instance Options

    Description of the option

    db_unique_name d

    Unique name for the database

    -i inst_name_list

    Comma-separated instance names

    stop_options o

    Options for the stop command (for example: normal, transactional, immediate, or give up)

    connect_str - c

    Connection string (default: / as sysdba)

  • Switching between primary CARS and standby instance

    Hi all

    I'm using Oracle 11 g 2.

    I'm redoing a switch between the primary data base (RAC 2 knots) and physical standby (single instance)

    If my primary is the only forum I've followed the steps below:
    On the standby
    ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE DISCONNECT;

    On the primary database:
    alter database commit to switchover to standby with session shutdown;
    shutdown immediate;
    startup nomount;
    alter database mount standby database;

    On the standby again:

    alter database commit to switchover to primary WITH SESSION SHUTDOWN;

    On the new standby:

    ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE DISCONNECT FROM SESSION;
    now, and since my first is CARS when I'm working on switch I get the below error:

    alter database commit to switchover to standby with session shutdown

    In addition, when I want to apply the remaining steps (below step), can I do it on every single instance? or is it all still to do using srvctl command:

    alter database mount standby database;
    Kind regards

    Hello

    Since you are using 2 primary CCR node, so for the failover operation, you need to stop
    instance (instance 2 assuming) database.

    Assume your node1:
    host name is dcpdb1
    and node 2:
    host name is dcpdb2

    and Eve hostname is drpdb1

    Then follow these steps for the digital switchover .

    How to transition from primary school on the eve of the database?

    Process:

    On the principal server, check the log of the last archived redo and force a log switch.

    * # Connection as the user Oracle Dcpdb1 # *.

    SQL > SELECT sequence #, first_time, next_time

    SQL > ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE;

    Check the new archived redo log has arrived on the standby server and is enabled.

  • 10gr 1 - RHEL 4 - is possible to add nodes to a RAC before eve?

    Hello

    for my first post, n I will detail a bit my config:

    10.1.0.5, 8 knots CARS in production, 8 standby 4u4 RHEL running.

    I am trying to add more than 4 knots in standby mode (to switch traffic to him later and upgrade other), my questions are the following:

    -first of all, is it possible?
    -start and how should I run
    -traps to achieve?

    Thanks for your replies

    Hello

    If you have met all your requirements to add a node to RAC (Standyby or primary), I don't see why you can't add a node in standby mode. But what is the intent of the question, you do it to upgrade to the new version of the OS / version Oracle / new material?

    Please refer to the followingDoc ID: rating: 270512.1 on metalink, it could help you.

  • Because a node on the Rac servers

    Hi Xperts

    We have this environment:
    2 cars 11.2.0.3 Enterprise Linux Oracle 5.9 knots.

    We have a production of data base on this car and the users request to create two unique instance on each node, something like this:
    Node1-> Rac Prod1, only Test
    Node2-> Rac Prod2, single Dev

    I want to create Rac one node for these databases (Dev, Test) and create the new starts for ech of database.

    Can I install a Rac one node on the server with DBCA?
    Can I Normand to install new database software?
    The RAC installed there some assignment?

    I just want to be sure on this procedure, before you do anything.

    Thank you

    Hello

    Well, it does not use emotive, they call just the technology for failover planned like that. To order one RAC node, you must use srvctl utility. The documentation is good starting point:

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/RAC.112/e16795/oneNode.htm

    Patches could come from MOS (My Oracle Support), here are the numbers:

    I didn't see any bond0 or obligations 1.

    I think PRIVET recommend oracle of interconnection to be glued. We use the CTP - BO, so I want to know should I ask to is to bind to the interface more service?

    What is the command to verify that the interface are right installation?

    Thanks in advance for all the response.

    What version you are implemented and what are the requirements? IF you are talking about the use of NETWORK card for 11.2.0.2 binding there is a notion of 'High availability IP' of HAIP as discussed in the chapters before installation, from high availability

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/install.112/e22489/prelinux.htm, section 2.7.1 network hardware requirements.

    In essence, using HAIP eliminates the need to use NIC bonding to provide for redundancy.

  • Add new node question and RAC instance

    Without going into the details, our society is to have a new node added to a two-node cluster. Because this particular system is hosted by an outside supplier, our only role is to add the new instance once the seller has set up the cluster and the DSO for the new node. It's our first time it and because of an extremely aggressive timeline, we will only succeed a shot in a test environment before as we do in production. Everything we have seen, the steps to add the new instance with the DBCA Wizard are pretty simple. After verifying the correct name of the instance, it seems that virtually one "next - next" situation. Is it too 'easy' it looks like? Are there any special traps that we seek? Any help or advice for this is greatly appreciated.
    It seems that the current proceedings can be alive when we run addnode.sh and when you add the new instance.

    Yes, the idea of offering the availability while allowing the flexibility to add nodes online. I did with a couple of times and simple enough forward.

  • Syntax of use YES to remove a node from the RAC

    Hello

    In reference to the Oracle documentation on the deletion of a node of RAC environment, it showed two syntaxes
    -- syntax one
    ./runInstaller -updateNodeList ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME "CLUSTER_NODES={rac2}" –local

    -- syntax two
    runInstaller -updateNodeList ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME CLUSTER_NODES="" –local
    In one, he used CLUSTER_NODES = "' and the other 'CLUSTER_NODES = {rac2}'"

    They are both correct? Made the CLUSTER_NODES = "" means the current node is affected? "

    Thanks in advance.

    to remove a node, follow the steps

    1 remove ASM Instance
    srvctl stop asm - n
    srvctl remove asm - n
    RM - r $ORACLE__BASE/adfflin / + ASM
    RM - r $0RACLEJOME/dbs / * ASM *.

    Finally, delete all the entries in the/etc/oratab ASM. These entries have the prefix + ASM

    On the page of the active nodes, select the node that you want to remove and click next to display the home
    page.

    On the homepage, select listener configuration and click next to open the page of the listener.

    On the page of receiver, this time select Remove and click next to open the Select listening port page.

    On the Select listening port page, specify the listener to remove.

    The NETCA will stop the listener daemon and remove the content of $TNS_ADMIN/listener. ORA

    3 remove the software from Oracle database

    On the node that you remove, log in as user oracle and

    come on in ' cd $ORACLE_HOME/Yes/bin '.

    Start the YES program and delete the Oracle Home
