Because a node on the Rac servers

Hi Xperts

We have this environment:
2 cars 11.2.0.3 Enterprise Linux Oracle 5.9 knots.

We have a production of data base on this car and the users request to create two unique instance on each node, something like this:
Node1-> Rac Prod1, only Test
Node2-> Rac Prod2, single Dev

I want to create Rac one node for these databases (Dev, Test) and create the new starts for ech of database.

Can I install a Rac one node on the server with DBCA?
Can I Normand to install new database software?
The RAC installed there some assignment?

I just want to be sure on this procedure, before you do anything.

Thank you

Hello

Well, it does not use emotive, they call just the technology for failover planned like that. To order one RAC node, you must use srvctl utility. The documentation is good starting point:

http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/RAC.112/e16795/oneNode.htm

Patches could come from MOS (My Oracle Support), here are the numbers:

Patch 10404530: 11.2.0.3.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER

Patch 13390677: 11.2.0.4.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER

  • Syntax of use YES to remove a node from the RAC

    Hello

In reference to the Oracle documentation on the deletion of a node of RAC environment, it showed two syntaxes
    -- syntax one
    ./runInstaller -updateNodeList ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME "CLUSTER_NODES={rac2}" –local

    -- syntax two
    runInstaller -updateNodeList ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME CLUSTER_NODES="" –local
    In one, he used CLUSTER_NODES = "' and the other 'CLUSTER_NODES = {rac2}'"

They are both correct? Made the CLUSTER_NODES = "" means the current node is affected? "

    Hello friends,

Here, I face an error while I run the root.sh script. During the installation of grid RAC, he asked a few dependencies of prereq. There are several .rpm files that were the prerequisites for this installation. I ignore them and I continued the installation. Now, he finally threw an error when running root.sh script. I tried to install several .rpms acquisition of information from the internet, but always this script does not work here.

Please, suggest what should I do at this point.

If it works, can someone suggest me steps how can I need recover with backup after restoring the backup of level 0 on 11g. Like should I upgrade before you retrieve it with level 1 backup or I can update and then recover with the level 1 backup from the old server to the new server.

  • Telnet between the 2 nodes before installing RAC 11 GR 2

    Hi Oracle RAC guru,

For the 2 nodes were installed RAC (GR 11, 2) clusterware, they need to be able to telnet each other with port open? and ping scan name must be successful before you install the clusterware software? operating system is Linux x86_64

    Thank you!

    SC

    Hello

the VIP and the SCAN IPs aren't yet to the ping requests (let alone telnet).

One of the main tasks of a cluster should provide these entry points. So they will be available as soon as your IM is running, but not before.

Make a res stat crsctl - you on your clusters existing and you will see the VIP and VIP SCAN (online) resources. If they don't are not online no VIP don't will be 'plugged' on top of your network cards.
You can also see the IP address with ifconfig-a on existing clusters. And you will see the difference on your cluster "clean".

    Hi all

generation of Intel processor i5-2410 2 (2.3 GHz, core 2, 3 MB cache)
    8 GB RAM DDR3
    750 GB HARD drive
this configuration will be sufficient for the highest installation? RAM? Processor?

I've read a few threads over on this forum where people have recommended for installation of single application (11i or R12), this kind of configuration can be enough.

    Configuration:

generation of Intel processor i5-2410 2 (2.3 GHz, core 2, 3 MB cache)
    8 GB RAM DDR3
    HARD DRIVE 750 GB

This configuration will be sufficient for the highest installation? RAM? Processor?

You need at least 4 GB for installation on a single node R12. So, if you plan to have 3 VMs (1 application node) and 2 RAC nodes or 4 virtual machines (2 application and 2 RAC nodes), then I suggest that you add more memory. However, your RAM should work, but don't expect (if you go with 3 VMs) but do not expect the performance to be perfect.

    Thank you

  • How many nodes can be added to the RAC cluster

My colleagues asked me how many nodes can be added to the RAC cluster.
I'm not concerned about this issue, but I would like to know it.
I would be grateful if someone let me know it.

As close and as much as I know, the number is limited mostly by the used clusterware.
At the same time, Oracle clusterware in Oracle 10 g 2 supports up to 100 knots.

  • Satellite A300 power suddenly goes out during the race for hours

    Dear users of the Forum,

I am facing a strange problem in operation.
My laptop Satellite A300 is suddenly down power during the race for hours.
It is auto off not exactly. Not the way windows stop, is rather like strength to off (as when I press on & power button to stop force).

This happens automatically, starting again, the screen saying "windows does not stop properly, start windows normally" is apperanig.

I suspected virus infection, I tried full scan with nod 32, essential microsoft, kaspesky - 1 by 1 (previous uninstall and install the new), but all the antivirus intremediately scan stopped due to this power off.

Watch movie also stopped in the Middle, attempted to convert the movie file format also was arrested several times because of this problem of automatic disconnection.

I tried to run only on the power (remove battery) and got the same result.

can anyone identify the problem? can you please give me the solution?

    Hello

I put t think it is s virus.
En me it looks like overheating. Eventually the high internal temperature requires the laptop to close. This is done automatically to prevent the equipment from damage
I'm not quite sure what could cause this exactly, but in most cases the dust inside the fans affects cooling performance and lead to a temperature higher than m.

Higher temperatures could affect the RAM modules too, and perhaps that is the reason why some applications don't work properly.

What to say; try to clean the cooling fans using a jet of compressed air and check out how the laptop would proceed

  • BECAUSE a node: when to stop through SQL * more...

    Hello

I installed a CCR node for the first time and playing with it to get better knowledge. The underlying cluster has two nodes, call them the Node_A and node_b.

The cluster database itself is called upon to DEVELOP, DEVELOP_1 instance is running on the node Node_A, instance DEVELOP_2 is supposed to work on node_b. The preferred node is

    NŒUD_A.

When testing database online relcation everything works as expected: DEVELOP_1 instance Gets the stop on Node_A node - instance DEVELOP_2 is started on node_b.

But what closing instance DEVELOP_1 on Node_A with SQL * more I was surprised of the result:

-C' is not instance DEVELOP_2 which began on node_b - it was DEVELOP_1 for instance!  (Because of this my control sews has changed - but is not the issue of this discussion).

    Now my questions are:

-is the clusterware responsible for the DEVELOP_1 instance on node_b startup behavior when I stop instance DEVELOP_1 down on Node_A via SQL * more?

    - and if this behavior is documented? I went through the RAC documentation node, but could not find something useful

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Rgds

    Hi Jan,

Yes, its expected behavior in a node of the FCAC, please consult the document below.

  • difference between SWEEPING earpiece and VIP at the RAC

    Hello

The SCAN and VIP are used to balance the load only as I know.

Is that there is no difference between these two?

    Hi Billy and all,

I answer too late. Sorry for that. I'm still not clear picture on VP geeing

    YOU SAID

"A virtual address is just that--virtual." There also exist on another node of the cluster, as his 'owner' node is not currently running. "So this node services this virtual IP address, until the owner can"reclaim"this virtual IP address.

    2 node RAC 10 g R2 (so no SCAN)

    Let's host 1: abc.lmn.com;

    1 host ip: I say 129.1.2.3; and vip 1 as abc.lmn - vip.com-> 129.1.2.4

    2 the host: efg:xyz.com

    with the IP 129.1.2.5 and vip 2 as efg.xyz - vip.com-> 129.1.2.6;

The ip address and the VIp as just example only.i did not follow the standard conventions.

Scenario: the client tried to connect to the instance and lets assume host 1 is out of service so host 1 (abc.lmn.com) cannot be used at the request of the customer.

If the connection should switch to host 2. And host 1 cannot switch as its already down.

VIP 1 is the address assigned to the physical host 1.

MY Question is: as the physical host 1 itself is down how the 1 VIP which is attributed to host 1 helps the failover.

I hope that your next reply will clarify my doubts.

    Thank you

Just to give you clear answers:
When host 1 goes down, his VIP are toggled on node 2. And when the client tries to connect to the VIP of node 1, it will immediately get the error message (it doen't wait on TCP/IP timeout) and then the client will connect to node 2 VIP.

The reason why client does not connect to the VIP of node 1, however its PLACE on node 2, is because when VIP has switched to node 2, his questions, the new MAC addressed to customers. Client both get immediate notifications as error and the client, and then connect to node 2' VIP that runs on 2.

    Hope this helps
