Gradient Editor

The gradient editor is missing the lower part of the window.  No color stops to create your own color gradient or the number of colors you want in your gradient.  The upper part of the window is their with the gradient options pre-installed.  Photoshop CS6.  I looked up and down for a solution and to reset the tool and preferences.  No luck.  Please notify.

Hi NewLife_777,

What operating system do you use?

Where in photoshop cs6 looking for the gradient editor?

You could post a screenshot of what your seeing.

If for example, gradient tool, you click on the preview of the gradient?

  • PS4 gradient editor - cannot edit the color gradient steps, etc.

I just noticed that whenever I open the gradient editor, either from the tool broken down in the toolbar or to merge options > overlay gradient, or any other means to use the gradient tool, I have more access to the color stops... or anything else.  Open the gradient editor dialog box and everything is visible, but I can't make any changes except for the gradient type: solid or noise.  I can see the current color steps and their positions, but cannot click on it to open the color picker dialog box.  I see also all the presets, but clicking on a "Preset" does nothing.  It's as if all the options are disabled.  I check that my document is 8-bit RGB, but I don't know what else to check.  I also chose to reset the tool in the menu gradient tool that reset gradient back of predefined default settings but still cannot modify gradients.  I tried existing documents of .psd with gradients that I edited before as well as documents entirely news.  Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the pref file is corrupted. To avoid making one from scratch in the future just do a copy of the well known one after make you it. Then store it somewhere where you can find. When you remove the defective file pref you can simply copy on save, then a new.

  • Where the gradient editor disappeared to? No color stop!

I've updated from Photoshop CS to CS3 (since a worm 4 user)... but I noticed that the gradient editor disappeared. Well, I can open it up, but there is nowhere to change the color stops! It is CERTAINLY there and usable in the CS version, but when I open the same file in CS (which is always installed on the pc), the gradient editor now also lost the color stop Editor!

I tried searching in the pallets, he sought in the Windows menus and view, double click on the gradient in the Toolbox button, clicked on everything from the toolbar gradient, click the arrow at the top right, clicked on the nuances of gradient, but a big fat zip naadaa!

Someone has experienced something like this before? I wonder if I'd be better to just uninstall and reinstall everything and making sure that I can also uninstall the old version to make sure there are not any conflicts, but I PREFER to keep the available CS, just in case where there are problems in CS3 - like this. Unless, of course, it is the cause of my problem!

    Thanking you in advance!

I guess I should have been more specific: the only remnant, I can see the gradient editor is the part that appears near the bottom of the Options bar, which has all of the options such as Load, Save, New, OK or cancel, or ONE of the color stops - features I been using happily for years. All I can see when I click on the Options bar are the presets and the small black arrow at the top right.

To be honest, since the purchase of CS3, this is the first time I tried to use the gradient editor, so I can't really tell what was the initial state. Where my mark, the method of uninstalling/reinstalling, just to get back to a decent default value.

Thus, it is not all second options on the left click on everything, even when I look at the presets when they set in the Options bar.

There is also no sign of any gradients in the view drop down menus or windows display options, either.

Click on the gradient of the actual sample that is displayed in the Options bar.

  • Photoshop, too small stuck gradient Selector - can't drag to enlarge

Photoshop CC - don't know how it got that way, but my gradient selector (not the gradient editor) is blocked while I see only a small slice of first three shades of gradient and the cog/menu icon. No handle to open it.

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Untitled-2.png

So I don't know if there's an easier difficulty, but a friend and I thought, this, and it worked...

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2015\Adobe Photoshop settings 2015 CC CC

We closed Photoshop, moved the files in a subfolder /temp/ and reopened its doors. The gradient selector is returned to a normal size. Then we went through a process of singling out the file which was bad... think it was Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 Prefs.psp

I end up having to re - set up my work space and several of my editing preferences > Preferences, but everything is back to normal now.

  • Failed to create a simple red to black gradient in Photoshop CC (2014)

A few years ago, I used Fireworks to create gradients and they were fairly simple. Now when I try to create a red to black gradient in Photoshop I can not do it. However, I am able to create a red on white gradient.

I've read various articles on the net but my just gradient editor only has no options of these articles mention.

You could tell me where I should look for more information to create a red to black gradient?

    Thank you!

Not sure what the problem is. You just set the foreground to red and black color and use the foreground to the background color gradient, background color. How it works there?

  • Shade of color shows ONLY shades of gray on the gradient layer...?

My color chart seems to be defaulting to only shades of gray on a gradient layer, and I can just find a way to let him replace the color I chose.  After that I created a new layer of gradient fill, when I have the layer selected in the layer list on the right side of the screen, color samples show ONLY gray.  If I click on the sample, it brings up the color selector, but no matter what color I select, the swatch shows shades of gray.  If I select the background layer, it goes back to show my color.

There's probably a simple explanation to this problem, but I was searching Google for literally hours without finding an answer.  I found some similar questions have the response "go to Image, Mode, and make sure that RGB is selected."  Mine is already set to RGB, so it's not the question.

How can I change the colors in a gradient fill layer, and why my color chart displays grayscale only when I selected gradient fill layer, even if by clicking on the color chart reveals the color picker?

To change/edit the gradient colors, double click on the thumbnail of the gradient in the layers panel fill

Then in the gradient fill box, click just to the right of the gradient word to change the colors

In the gradient editor, click one of the stages of the color at the bottom of the gradient bar and click color to change the color of this judgment

  • Vertical gradient of CSS3

    Hello

I'm breaking my head trying to understand this one... CC how to create a vertical gradient where the color flows from top to bottom, it is heartbreaking as a repeating pattern in dreamweaver.

    Here is my css:

    {body

    background-image:-webkit-linear-gradient(270deg,rgba(0,0,0,1.00) 0%,rgba(255,0,0,1.00) 100%);

    background-image: linear-gradient (180deg, rgba (0,0,0,1.00) 0%,rgba(255,0,0,1.00) 100%);

    }

You could save a lot of head bumping by visiting this site then copy and paste the code in your CSS:

Different browsers require gradients to be encoded differently, but this site doesn't handle most, if not all of them.

  • How can I add a gradient to text?

How can I make my own gradient and then add it to the text. I have cs6.

Here is a step by step how to add gradient to the text.

    Below, I have my text.

I insist on the text with the type tool, as shown below.

With superimposed text, go to layer > layer Style > Gradient Overlay

This establishes a Gradient Overlay to the text layer. Below, he opens the dialog box, as shown below. You can change the orientation of the gradient, and by clicking on the gradient (as shown below in the red circle), it opens a dialog box for further editing.

the gradient editor opens for further editing. Here you can add color to your gradient, or use one of the illustrious shades. When you are finished, click OK in both windows. You can save the gradient that you customized here, by pressing "Save...". »

Here is the substantive effect of my gradient applied to my text.

I hope this helps. Please reply here if you have any other questions.

  • Locations of gradient?

I'm doing a radial gradient in After Effects. Currently I am using the ramp effect, but I need to change the location of the stop. And note, I have specifically not talking about the stop location... not the anchor point for each color start and end.

For example, here's what I can do in Photoshop:

    https://img.skitch.com/20120326-m6rrau33gscpb9bk1nx6hh22c5.jpg

Note that in the gradient editor, I am able to harden the transition between the two gradients.

I can understand how to remove in After Effects.

Depends on what exactly you are after. AE recognizes the gradsient overlay layer style and it will make correctly, you just can't edit it inside AE. If you need something that is editable in AE, apply a color secondary remapping effect after the ramp. Colorama offers the most control, but dyed and trichromes would also work. If you add inbetween effects levels or curves, you can control the bias even further...

  • How to create a uniform gradient w / Soft Edge & filter

    FaqHeader2.png

Hello, Im using photoshop 6 and Im trying to apply an effect to a photo of the banner, which will be compatible for more pictures of the banner of the same size.

I have attached a picture of this.

As you can see the gradient (which contains the text) starts with a gray and then white. The right edge that meets the blue sky is not a hard edge but rather a soft edge.

I'm not sure how to create that soft edge. Someone else had mentioned to use the gradient with colors of gray to white then to transparent to create this right edge soft.  I'm not sure how to implement that.

I used a brush in this case, and as you can see, the line is uneven.

Also, I think that the filter used here is ripple or Ocean Ripple.

I was hoping if someone could guide me through what would be the correct steps to create this effect, so that I can use systematically for several photos

Oh, I see, 6 PS. The pieces here on the layers of filling and the Layer Styles does not apply, but mounting method is the same:

    ---------------------------------------------------

First, open the gradient editor by clicking on the gradient in the toolbar of the dialog for a gradient fill layer or options:

Set up a gradient of gray and white, then add a transparent stop just not the white judgment:

Enter a name and click "New" to save him. You can also save as part of a layer with Gradient Overlay Style.

  • Problems with PS CS5 - cannot add a gradient layer transparent to a layer mask - please help

My company has just upgraded us to cs5 on our macs. I've been working along in photoshop and do not know if I hit something inadvertently or what, but all of a sudden I can't add a black transparent gradient to a layer mask. Ive searched autour similarly saved out and reloaded the gradients of my pc (which has the black to transparent gradient in the gradient editor & the process works very well).

Funny is that in the mac gradient selector, black to transparent gradient is black and solid white, but the name of it is 'transparent black' in the editor. Ive tried

I guess my questions would be how could you make a transparent gradient, or how would call a zero gradients by default because every time I have remove all the gradients to add a new file .grd of my pc, it shows not yet degraded.

Its amazing how such a small thing like this allows saving a lot of time and feeding me I can not get this to work

    Thanks in advance, Mark

Try trashing the preferences file. (Hold down shift + Option + command keys as you launch Photoshop. You will have a small OK box delete your preferences file)

  • Gradient fill to each individual character

Can you fill in each of the individual characters with a gradient, I get black when I try (the black guy with a chosen letter). When I create outlines of the type I have what I need (crushed with a radial gradient in each letter). I like to keep this editable type.

    Picture 2.png

Select your text with the selection tool. Apply the effect > path > describe the object. Select the individual letters with the text tool. Apply and customize the gradients freely.   Note: This is different to apply a simple gradient on an integer object by creating a new filling and which apply a gradient. In your case, there is no need of a new filling (but the gradient editor is not available... adjust you the gradient of the Panel).
