Graphics 3D API

It is a question for the experts.

I'm on a storm BB JDE 4.7.0

I looked through the API of the BB storm and I can't find any support for 3D, OPENGL or something like that when I think support for that is in the GPU from Qualcomm chipset.

What is the current "position" on this RIM and/or what future plans.

I might need this for a future product related to scientific visualization (3D and possibly other solutions surfaces). I'm also sure that game developers need.

Thank you

-Donald

For now, the latest version of RIM API (4.7) has no classes to work with 3D graphics.

There are only classes to work with SVG graphics (vector graphics).

  • API in LabVIEW VeriStand using for graphics

    Hello

    I was wondering if anyone has experience reproducing graphics that accompany the VeriStand workspace in LabVIEW via the API. For example, should I use the block to get the value of channel to power a LabVIEW graph or is there another suggested method? Thank you.

    You can start by this example:

    \examples\Execution API\UDP Streaming\UDP Example.vi streaming

    It shows you how to request data in continuous high-speed gateway VeriStand and treat it. It does not show another specific feature of the graph VeriStand workspace, as the locking button, but it's a start.

  • ScalableGraphics and net.rim.device.api.ui.Graphics

    I was robbed on a bug in my SVG code for too long and now, I discovered that I can use the bad Graphics class.

    ------------SNIP------------------------
            scalablegraphics.bindTarget(graphics);

            for(int i=0;i

    In the method object, I'm rendering SVG standard above that works for a little while and finally fails.  I am hunting the failure on mine, but in the process I've stumbled upon the documentation that call the bindTarget(Graphics g) aims to link to one of these graphics implementations:

    (From JDE 4.7 of the ScalableGraphics class documentation, whether)

    The type of the Graphics object depends on the Java profile that this specification is implemented, as follows:

    • javax.microedition.lcdui.Graphics on profiles support LCDUI;
    • java.awt.Graphics on profiles supporting AWT;
    • either of the above on the profiles of LCDUI and AWT support.

    My questions to the people here:

    1. is this simply an artifact of Sun Java documentation not updated to include the "net.rim.device.api.ui.Graphics" as a viable link?
    2. It's pure chance that SVG seems to work with the class Graphics RIM?
    3. Everyone uses the class Graphics RIM with SVG?

    Thank you

    Mike

    It is a question of JavaDoc, which I have updated you.  The net.rim.device.api.ui.Graphics class is supported here.

    Can you elaborate on what stops working?  What model of smartphone BlackBerry and the version of the software BlackBerry device test you on?  You can find this under Options, all on the BlackBerry Smartphone.

  • Satellite Pro Graphics Driver - OpenGL version low-income L870 question

    Trying to recover a part of my working on my new L870 3D graphics software, he complains that the opengl version is too weak at 1.1. The ATI HD 7670 M supports up to 4.1.

    I downloaded realtech VR OpenGL extensions Viewer, it also reports OpenGL 1.1. He also pointed out under "GDI Generic" rendering, but it should be "ATI Radeon 7670 M" I think that (judging by the post [here | http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2487900]).

    The Catalyst Control Center seems to think that the card works well. So I tried to update the drivers to see if that helped. The latest drivers from Toshiba (8.982.7 - 120808 a 14704), the [zip file | http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/display-20121023172326.zip] is damaged (checksum fails), and he tells me that previous drivers (8.982.10.6 - 120918 a) are already installed.

    Any suggestions to get OpenGL > 1.1 work would be appreciated!

    Thank you

    Hello

    OpenGL is an open standard API, but more often the DirectX designed by Microsoft is included in the graphics card driver for OpenGL enters the market of professional graphics, DirectX, DirectX is used primarily for computer games.

    However, if you need a driver supports OpenGL then you need a driver updated him from some 3rd party sources.

    ATI drivers can be downloaded from the page AMD directly or on sites like omegadrivers.net
    But use at your own risk.

    In addition, to install these drivers, you will need to use a special procedure. I mean by special procedure installation via the Device Manager where you could choose the driver manually.

  • is it possible to deploy log status of the API?

    Hello

    I made a deployment utility that allows someone to just deploy a sysdef file without using the GUI veristand. They can select IP addresses for each target, the calibration files (optional), and click on deploy. Works very well. But see all I have is a curor occupied during deployment. Is it possible to get the text, thanks to an API, by using the graphical user interface veristand would normally show?

    Thank you!

    Yes, absolutely. VeriStand uses this exact event to fill its state information. I don't remember what it's called, but if wire you a reference IWorkspace2 in a register for event reminder node, you should be able to find it quickly. Something like GatewayNotification or status.

  • Code stops at an API function if there is no breakpoint.

    I work with a Graphics Pro Essentials with CVI 8.5. When debugging my application, I'm occasionally guy stops at a function API (no point close to the point). I have to click on the "continue" button to continue debugging. This happens several times and my application crashes after a while.

  • Current stage of the display with API

    Hello

    I'm using LabVIEW 2009 AP1, and I call a sequence of TestStand 4.2 by using the API. I do not use the operator interface, because this isn't a graphical interface, but a module which runs just a sequence.

    I have reproduced essentially calls listed here .NET:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/NI-TestStand/calling-user-created-TestStand-sequence-from-net/m-p/703125?Que...

    Only with the engine of the activeX LabVIEW, properties and methods. So I have references to the TS engine, movie file, the process model and execution.

    What I need is access to the current name of the step. I don't need the whole sequence Viewer, essentially just to access the 'Step.Name' property at any specific time. I guess it would be accessible through the reference of the performance, but I am unable to track him down. I suspect it will get a reference to a subproperty of the execution and then acting on it somehow, but I can't get there from here.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Tim

    Hi Tim,.

    Only two other solutions:

    If you have a handle to the execution of your

    you could use Execution.GetThread () Note: you collate property Execution.NumThreads how they are present.

    lets hope there is only one!

    Access the thread and get a context with Thread.GetSequenceContext

    Now you should be able to access the name with SequenceContext.Step.Name

    Another solution to this sort of thing might find:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/NI-TestStand/is-is-possible-to-retrieve-a-sequence-context-through-a-new/m-p...

  • Make new graphic problem

    Hi im new in blackberry that I have a problem with the new methods of painting that I have a custom field and I want to make a new class of graphics to draw my pictures below is an example of what I want to do I how you see the idea about what I want to do. Is the right way to do it or is there a better solution for this

    package mypackage;
    Import net.rim.device.api.system.Bitmap;
    Import net.rim.device.api.system.Display;
    Import net.rim.device.api.ui.Color;
    Import net.rim.device.api.ui.Field;
    Import net.rim.device.api.ui.Graphics;

    SerializableAttribute public class MyField extends {field}
    private int ttwidth;
    private int hhheight;
    graph graphic private;

    public MyField() {}

    }

    Protected Sub layout (int width, int height) {}
    ttwidth = Display.getWidth ();
    hhheight = Display.getHeight ();
    setExtent (ttwidth, hhheight);
    }

    protected void paint (Graphics g) {}
    image = g;
    test (Graphic);
    }

    {} public void test (Graphics g)
    Bit bitmap = new Bitmap (500, 500);
    Grap = g.create (bit) graphics;
    grap.drawText ("Test a drawing", 100, 100);
    image = grap;
    }
    }

    you get the graphics as a parameter object, and that it's empty, you can do whatever you want with it, no need to create a bitmap or a new graphic object.

  • Abondonment of BlackBerry specific APIs?

    Howfar can I abandon the use of the API specific BlackBerry without losing the ability to write sophisticated applications?

    The idea is to reduce the use of BlackBerry specifig API to be able to port the application to other devices JavaME, I know that it is possible to implement MIDlets for BlackBerry, also. But what keyfeature what I lose if I give up the BlackBerry API?

    I had a look at the overview of the BlackBerry API. But I don't know if it should be used.

    For example the digital rights management:

    Instead of using net.rim.device.api.drm, I can use JSR 117 SATSA.

    If I do not pay much attention to achieve a BlackBerry like look & feel of the application, I can make functionailites Wifi, USB, Bluetooth connections, works with the file system and so we without BlackBerry specific APIs?

    NOTE: My application only works in a local network without using Internet and BlackBerry Enterprise Server and suchs things.

    Thank you
    EnochRoot

    I understand your point of view, but what do you consider "other J2ME devices?

    For example, a function is listed in a JSR doesn't mean that Blackberry or Android supports this feature without a need for porting. Especially when any form of networking is used, and certainly when it comes to the GUI.

    Ideally, you can simply paste using Midlets, but don't ignore the importance of a good UI appearance. If the majority of people do not keep important quality of graphical interfaces, Linux would be the dominant operating system and iPhones would be not nearly as popular as now.

    My preference is to develop a generic code base and then build the platform specific GUI and functions on top. It is best to take advantage of the features of the native platform.

  • Best game API to use... I need help

    I really don't care about the issue of portability as most of the APIs are fairly easy to swap from one phone to another, and since the great player outside BB is the iphone and there's no similarity, portability is really not really a problem... except perhaps for the Android... TO BE DETERMINED.

    Conversations, I had on a previous question, I came to the conclusion that we should try to use the javax API and only when necessary to go with the blackberry API. However, I notice that there is no equivalent control field, with the exception of forms.

    What it really seems to boil down to is that you prefer to use. I think that I have to use the approach of Blackberry Ecran and I have the choice to use the screen as a Bitmap (using getGraphics()) and draw or I can even create a Bitmap field and call Graphics.create (bitmap) to get a graphics context in which I can get, and here I can even combine my small bitmap with the fields of regular control... This seems to be the most adaptable.

    So, during the passage of cmdlets midlets, I think that applications using the screens are much more flexible.

    It seems that I can use a moped with lcdui and a canvas, which is OK for the games but useless if you want to use buttons gauges and stuff like that. The alternative, that's what I said above, and this seems much more flexible.

    Any comments? Am I wrong?

    I am at a junction point where I am about to be really productive, and I just need to know which way to go. I'll be churning of code once I know which way to go... so a little, I need to be told to go with. If I'm just above, then if I need all the controls I'll go with the blackberry app.

    If it's just a game or something with a canvas, then I can just go with the approach of the midlet.

    I just need someone that has produced more commercial software to let me know if I'm right or not.

    Thank you people.

    -Donald

    I only develop with the APIs of BB. We have some experiences of hobby with j2me Polish and a few standard tests to j2me, but restrictions are just much worse and you do not have access to many features related to BB.

    That said, the native BB UI is almost as ugly as j2me. Android and IPhone are miles ahead of him and you can see RIM trying to find at least with some basics, such as rounded corners, etc.
    Give your first app a good part of the extra hours and think out of the box. You will need to develop some components that need to be reusable and allow you to have a beautiful generic application in a short time.
    It begins with bitmap-buttonfields, color labelfields and other product managers to layout custom with some functions of border and objectlistfields with built-in logical treatment until bar framesets that use a fixed navigation and change only the part of the screen.

    Usually, you want to improve the appearance of your application, the next time - make sure you have a prepared concept for your library or you end up with incompatible versions for your older projects.

  • Graphics.drawText: How to draw a line of text with words in different colors?

    BB OS 5.0.0

    I'm watching the documentation of the API for graphics and I can't determine how can I use Graphics.drawText to draw a single line in two colors.

    I get the content from the server and in my class that extends the field, layout and painting methods. In the paint method, I need to use drawText to paint the contents from the server in two colors, such as:

    New coffee blends available at the counter & - 1 hour ago

    I thought that the following drawText could be useful, but I don't see how I can use it with two colors. Ideas, samples or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    public int drawText(StringBuffer aText,
                        int aOffset,
                        int aLength,
                        int aX,
                        int aY,
                        int aFlags,
                        int aWidth)

    You will need two calls drawText, each following a call setColor for the font you want for this particular piece color.

    In order to calculate the offset x from the second drawText compared to the first, use font.getAdvance (firstString) (where the police is your graphic police present, accessible via graphics.getFont ()).

    Use simple methods and you will get your results faster.

  • Graphics.ROP throws IllegalArgumentException

    I'm an IllegalArgumentException (with null backtrace and message) when I do the following in the paint for a custom field method:

    g.ROP (Graphics.ROP_SRCMONOEXPAND_COPY, x, y, FONT_CHAR_WIDTH, FONT_CHAR_HEIGHT, font_, left, top);

    However, the following works (though without the colorization, I want):

    g.drawBitmap (x, y, FONT_CHAR_WIDTH, FONT_CHAR_HEIGHT, font_, left, top);

    font_ is a Bitmap loaded from a custom PNG (a monospace font) file. I use the Eclipse plugin and a 4.5.0 Simulator. ROP() worked from 4.2 and 4.5 API documentation made no mention that he has changed since then. ROP_SRCMONOEXPAND_COPY is not obsolete, is it?

    Does anyone have insight into this? Thanks in advance.

    Never mind, you were right - the file PNG itself stores 1 bit per pixel, but for some reason Bitmap.getBitmapResource () that converts a bitmap with 16 bits per pixel. The documentation for Graphics.rop () does not indicate that there is a problem, and indeed it works when compiled with the 4.2 API on devices physical time 8830 and 9000. When I give a 1-bit Bitmap to Graphics.rop (), it works with ROP_SRCMONOEXPAND_COPY.

    RIM, please update the documentation of the JDE to tell API Graphics.rop () is no longer can use any image, and it will throw an IllegalArgumentException if he dislikes the Bitmap image, he is given.

  • Need help with graphics

    Hi all

    I'm experimenting with graphics api.

    Although I used it until I'm still not very confident on this subject. So, I want to build a strong foundation in this area. I looked online but couldn't find something really useful and what explains the basics.

    For my first mission I want to draw a rectangle in the middle of the screen. Now, for this I used a verticalfieldmanager and I replaced its sublayout method.

    In the sublayout method, I use the getgraphics() method to create the instance of the graphics class. Now, type the following lines:

    g.drawRect (width/2, height/2, 70, 30);

    g.fillRect (width/2, height/2, 70, 30);

    Super.paint (g);

    setExtent (width, height);

    but all I get is a white screen... can't use a graphical object directly in a fieldmanager? do I have to draw the rectangle in a separate field (perhaps a labelfield), then add it to the fieldmanager?

    as you can see my bases regarding the user interface graphics and custom api are not very good and that's why I need all the help I can get here.

    Thank you!!

    For one you super.paint () to call after you did you paint that will erase everything you have done. There is no need to call super.paint () If you make your own custom paint job.
