Graphics XPS/Dimension 420

I want to update the graphics card in my XPS 420.

The system is now 5 years old and with a GeForce 8600 GTS

I don't know what version of the PCI-Express bus, this PC (1, 2, 2.1 or 3?).

Can anyone suggest a decent game for this system card, costs is more then £100.

Henk

Its 1.0 version any version, because the 2.0 and 3.0 are retro-compatible.

Get a Radeon HD7750.  Will not harm your diet or your portfolio.

  • Update graphic XPS 410 map

Here I go again with my XPS 410.  In any case, I recently tried the upgrade to the 64-bit version of Windows 10.  It worked, but my graphics were all foires.  I had updated before the GeForce 7300LE to the GeForce 7900GTX, but he would not go at full resolution, animations are not smooth and the Device Manager does not even recognize the card graph.  Does anyone know a place where I can find a good driver for windows 64 bits 10, or can someone give me a list of compatible graphics cards so I can go if I have to?

Hi everyone, just solved my problem by chance, so in case anyone has the same problem as me, here's how I solved it:

    1. go to this link: http://www.driverscape.com/manufacturers.  Scroll down to find your card manufacturer (NVIDIA, in my case) chart (this should work for any driver and any computer, simply go to the home page)

    2. find your graphics card, click the link, scroll down to where you see your operating system.  Click on the download button

3 unzip files in Windows Explorer to a directory where you will be able to find it later.

    4. press on the Windows key + R to bring up the "Run" dialog box and type, the "devmgmt.msc" which will bring you to the management console where you can see all your drivers

    5. find your driver of graphics under "graphics cards".  If you need to update the driver, then you can see the model of your graphics card.  If you need to install a driver, you will see, "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter."

    6. regardless of what he he labeled as do top right click and click on 'update driver... '. "once you are there, click on"install from a specific location ".

    7. There should be a space for a directory of files.  Click "Browse...". "and find the directory that you have unpacked the files and click the folder that contains the driver files

    8. click on the button "next".  Your driver should install, and if it isn't, you may want to download driver software of digitization.

  • game sees not graphics (xps 27, GT 750 M)

I just got this 27 XPS all in one.  I tried to run the program of final fantasy on this topic reference, but the program does not see my graphics card and is only allowing me to run it using the edge HD 4600.  I tried to use the nvidia Control Panel to force the game to use the correct graphics card, but that doesn't seem to have any effect.  I use the latest version of the driver from the dell website which is 311.00.  Ive been advised to upgrade to the latest driver geoforce which is 320.49, but the machine does not.  I hate the idea that I bought this awesome new computer and its will launch FF14 slower than my laptop 3 year old, but at the moment, seems to be the case.  Y at - it another way to get the software to see my card, or is there a way so that the computer take the new driver?  Or other possible solutions?

    Hi adamrussell,

My memory is a little vague on that, but there is a way to select the preferred graphics card. I think you go to the Intel Graphics Control Panel and it's in 3D or something like that. The default setting should be automatic.

It is also a way to install the new NVIDIA driver by clearing the application driver Win 8.

  • Satellite 2450-202: is the scalable graphics card?

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce4 420 GO supplied with the notebook on purchase. Now expired for PC games, for example pixel shader. Need to update, is it possible on this laptop (do not know if the motherboard's video/graphics card integrated etc, and if so any idea how much I would pay to do?) Ballpark idea so I know not to blink in the PC world...! Thank you

Impossible to update the map with a lets say, better model VGA card. The only thing you can do is to edit your card a little more by installing better one more compatible for the new drivers of games than those outdated provided thanks to the TOSHIBA support.
The only difficult part is to MAKE THE nvidia download drivers 'WANT' to INSTALL on your system... ;)

Here's a way to do this:
... the drivers from the official website of nvidea wont install on your laptop without the help of you (by replacing the INF by a custom made one)
You can check my post on this thread about where to find the tools you need: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=18881

Some games more works now, still not all of them, but at least a few others.

  • Graphics card is dying

    Hello forums HP,.

5 years ago, I bought a desktop computer (Windows 7 x 64, Phenom II x 6 1045 t processor software) HP of your site. The graphics (GeForce GT 420) is dying and has been dying since the beginning of this year. I'd be surprised if it lasted until the end of this year. I was wondering, even though my warranty expired a few years ago, will be HP hook me up with a new graphics card (same or different, whatever), for a discount or something? Or if I completely buy a new graphics card at any price elsewhere?

    -Timothy Joynt

Then your PC model number is not given, generically should be able to accept a different video card.  Just, do not choose a card that requires change, unless you are willing to do it, too.

You can buy in a regular retail store, it does not need to be HP.

  • I have xp a xps 400 newdell and get audio, I get an error code 10 made power invited nothings working help

I WORKED ON IT FOR DAYS, BUT I'M UNABLE TO GET AUDIO ON MY DESK!  I'M ALL TROBLESHOOTER IMFO LLA AND MAKE ALL READERS MADE AFTER ANY UPDATE DEVICE MANAGER I GET AN ERROR 10 MESSAGE AND OR CONTACT THE SERVICE PROVIDER BUT I THINK IM DISABLE SOMETHING AND IM READY TO TEAR MY HAIR OUT

    Hi Katiethornton,

The Code 10 error code is generated when the Device Manager has not enough information or error that spread upwards by device drivers is not recognized by Device Manager. In addition, this error may occur if one of the pilots who needs the unit does not start. If multiple drivers are used by a particular device, it can be difficult to determine which failed.

For more information, you can consult the following article:

Description of errors related to the 10 Code that generates the Device Manager in Windows on computers

You can uninstall the audio drivers and try to install the drivers updated from the Dell Web site.

    a. Click Start and type in Device Manager in the start search and press ENTER.

    b. expand the sound, video and game in Device Manager controllers

    c. right-click on the audio device and click Properties

    d. click on the driver tab, click on uninstall the drivers and click OK.

You can check the Dell support link to download the latest version of the audio drivers.

  • I need to know my proportions because I want to create some of the graphics, how do I find this?

    Hi all

I intend to create screen graphics in Photoshop to draw in Prem, but I'm not sure what aspect ratio camera exports because it is a borrowed camera, can I know about this first?

    Thanks in advance

If you have video clips of the camera, the information on these clips file list which is the size of the image. For example, 1920 x 1080... a video very common format. He received what is called a "16:9" aspect ratio

For me, to make stills & graphics, I just divide the number side is by the number to one side most long... in this case, 1080 divided by 1920 is 0.5625.

Now, for any size of the "long" side make you a graph for, simply multiply this number by 0.5625 to get your side short number and your proportions...... aspect ratio will be the same.

Start with a pixel 3 000 broad 'framework', multiply by 0.5625, and your length short side should be 1687 or 1688.

This works with any size chronology, of course. Just do the math for this timeline.

Or... do your graphics, the dimensions of the Timeline frame size.

  • Firefox crashes almost every time that I try to attach a document. Why?

I just had a new PC from Dell XPS Dimension w/Win 8.1. She doesn't have Firefox, so I downloaded (version 29.0.1).

Almost every time that I try to attach a document, for example, a photo or other file, Firefox crashes. The accident occurred when I double-click on the directory or folder that contains the document I want to join. I presented in reports half a dozen incidents in recent days.

Instead of double-click, I tried everything just clicking once on the button that appears when I OPEN request to attach a document. This reduces the frequency of accidents, but did not eliminate them.

Accidents that occurred when I was trying to attach a document to an email in yahoo mail. The accidents have also occurred when I was trying to add a photo to an article I wrote for Examiner.co using their publishing tool.

I just changed from Windows XP. DO Firefox crashed when I tried to do in XP.

I tried to reproduce the problem in Internet Explorer 11, which came with my PC. I was not able to reproduce the problem with the Explorer.

    What is going on?

I could not identify a reason for the accident. Now, I try to reproduce your crash on Yahoo for the setting of a document.
Other users have reported than the update of Java fixed the problem. (reference: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../949408) Please update Java in the current version

You can also download CCleaner to destroy things that are no longer necessary and can cause problems. Just use the Windows section, do not delete anything since Firefox while CClaner because it can screw with your installation of Firefox.

EDIT: Thank you to fill out a bug if the steps above do not work

Select Firefox. a new window load, you need to create a Bugzilla account to fill out a bug report. Once you have done this, simply fill out the description of the best that you can. • I receive the following stop error message when you try to install Windows XP: Stop: 0x0000007B

    I need help with this error code: Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF7C85524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0 x 000000000)

I'm a noob Microsoft Answers. I have an old computer, I'm trying to reinstall Windows XP.  It's a Dell XPS Dimension 3 (3.40 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4, 1 G of RAM).  It does start normally or in Safe Mode.  I tried to use Fixmbr, Fixboot, Bootcfg/Rebuild, chkdsk/r, Memtest86, Killdisk.  I tried to install using another hard drive (which leads me to believe that it is perhaps a hardware problem).  He gave the same error code, I think, even if I didn't write it.  The only thing I found that I have not tried is "How do I recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP startup" because it is said that it will not work on OEM devices.  The error code is Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF7C85524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0 x 000000000).  I tried to install Ubuntu on two disks and they have installed and worked properly.  I don't know what else to try except hardware troubleshooting, although I'm not too good with hardware problems.  If you have any recommendations that could put closer me to a resolution I would be very happy!

PS Windows XP actually ran on the second hard drive, I have tried (which is currently the drive in the machine at this time).  I installed it and it starts directly in Windows.  Yay!  I have restarted this configuration several times without any problems.  But I had a problem with the Microsoft Security Essentials update so I thought that a clean install would be better.  In hindsight, I wish I had tried harder to solve this problem, but I did not.  The first hard drive suffered a crash of Windows led me to be upgraded to a Windows 7 computer.  It was more than 1.5 years ago.  I just thought that the full back story might help.

    Hello

I'm close to some (but my experience tells me very little is certain at 100%), which has a generic windows installation CD install without the need for the Setup F6 disk, as long as the BIOS is set to RAID Autodetect / ATA (or possibly 'mix'). AHCI is a more efficient disk access method but requires F6 floppy or "slipstreaming". If the CD is already slipstreamed for your PC, AHCI should work without F6. As you say your default BIOS to auto detect RAID/AHCI, I expect a CD specifically for your system to support it, while a generic CD would not.

I doubt that they will provide F6 floppy but you never know. If you do not ask that you probably won't get.

"Timeout errors reported by iastor or iastor (v) in the Microsoft Event Viewer.

"A change was made by Microsoft in the Windows Vista installation process. The result of this change is that the register Intel® Matrix Storage Manager LPM parameters which were intended for mobile installations are added for both office facilities. These LPM registry settings are added to both the RAID Intel® Matrix Storage Manager driver on the installation Windows Vista, as well as for all the added drivers disc during installation.

Serial ATA desktop devices such as hard drives and CD/DVD drives have been reported that do not comply with the specification Serial ATA LPM and display erratic behavior when LPM is enabled.

Because changing the configuration means that LPM is enabled by default for all Windows Vista platforms, using a device that does not completely respect the specifications may cause one of the problems listed. »

I'm at Version 8.6 Intel Matrix Storage console well beyond the recommended version to solve this problem.

Other research indicates that a registery hack is needed to solve this problem because the Intel driver is not yet certified (?).  The question is why a laptop power management setting is defined in a desktop computer.  It seems that these registry settings cause the hangs and the loss of the DVD player.  See http://derek858.blogspot.com/2009/01/windows-7-intel-sataahci-lockups.html

The registry entries are for all ports are: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStor\Parameters\Portx] "LPMDSTATE" = DWORD: 00000001 must be zero.  I have not yet tried it.

    Chris,

Yes, the problem has not reoccured since the installation of the latest Intel Matrix Console now known as Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) v9.6.0.1014.  I ran for ten days with the plague of your Player DVD which disappears and the EventID 9 [qualification] 49156 log records.  It seems to identify iastor.sys with this version of the code as the fixer of the problem and the culprit in earlier versions.  I don't see anything on the Intel site that explains the difficulty.  One would think that they could speak and help those who have the same problem.

    Thanks to all who helped.

  • The ncs2prov Module has stopped working and closed.

This is the error message I get when I try to plug something into my USB port.  I am running Vista SP2 on a Dell Dimension 420 desktop computer and no one seems to know the answer other than restoing my computer.  My problem with this is if I restore my computer I know how this problem will never happen and what was the cause.  Anyone know what this error is and how it can be fixed?                                                                                                                                                                          LJ

    LJnNOLA,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

The module that gets the error is the Intel PROset for Windows Device Manager.  The error indicates that the module is corrupt.  File corruption can occur for different reasons, and most of the time you never know what caused it.  The trick is to repair or replace the damaged file and restore the system in working order.  Intel PROset is your network card.  Here is a link to the Intel web site where you can download a new driver for your network card.  Make sure that you download the one for your version of Vista.

    http://www.Intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-016041.htm

You must also run the Windows System File Checker to test all the other corrupt files:
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
Right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
At the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

  • Graphics card does not not on Dell XPS 420

    Hello

Recently, a problem has arisen. My graphics card has given me some very strange situations, when I run a game (in this case, Medal of Honor Airborne) the color palette goes nuts and everything pink and green and the tris. Now, if it wont start even upward normally, it looks almost exactly like this picture I found on the web (the picture is below. mine alternated between points and lines). Still I can't understand what is wrong with it. My Dell XPS 420 also works very well with my other card which I believe is the AMD Radeon 2400 pro. The card is the Nvidia GeForce 8600 Gts.

Any help would be appreciated thanks -Microvolt

Both the 8600 GTS and HD 2400 Pro are old cards so that they may or may not last forever.  The 8600 GTS is a best performance card, so I can understand that want to use it against the HD 2400 Pro.  You can try to uninstall and reinstall a new driver for it in case it is damaged.  If this does not work, it can only have gone wrong for a new purchase would be in order, unless you can live with the AMD card.  There will be a range of cards video today that would be better than the 8600 GTS and they cost no more.  HD 6570, HD 6670 or the TG 640 would all consider inexpensive cards.

  • Can I download drivers for Dell XPS 420 girl (windows xp) on my computer (Dell Studio 17 Windows 7) on a cd instead of install on my computer?

I done a clean install on Dell XPS 420 after a crash.  Windows XP works fine, but it continues to ask that drivers can be installed before I can get on my internet which is At & T DSL with external modem.  When I try to go on the internet, it gives me the error of pilots.  I had what I thought, it was the disk drivers that came with the computer, but when I installed and then it is still asking for the correct drivers.  I called At & t for their support and they said I needed drivers.  That's why I came to Microsoft to download the drivers on my Dell Studio 17 on a cd, so I can load them onto the computer Dell XPS 420.  I was afraid to install on my computer because my Windows 7 running.

I don't know if I can load my Windows 7 and its drivers on the dell Xps 420.  It was a solution, I thought, but I'm not that computer from common sense to see if that might spoil the Dell XPS 420.   Any help would be appreciated.

Using another computer, go to the Dell support website and search the Windows XP drivers for your specific model number. Using your Dell's Service tag number is the fastest way to get the correct drivers.
    http://support.Dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=Gen

If there is then Windows XP Download drivers into a folder (with subfolders named "Chipset", "LAN", "Audio", etc) on your hard drive and burn all files on a CD driver.

Then, insert the CD into the computer XPS 420 and install all of the driver files, starting with the mother/chipset, SATA, Firewire card drivers (1394), LAN, Audio, etc, and so on.

For the problems of graphics card check download site of the manufacture of the graphics card for the latest Windows 7 drivers for your card.
