Grayscale getPixel is possible?

I know how to get back to the color of a pixel with getPixel, but not how to get the gray of a pixel value. Can anyone help please?

I import a grayscale image, and then I want to measure the value of a pixel with the result as gray level. I need to do this because I use the image as a displacement map.

What do you see as a result of the command getPixel against your grayscale image? And what happens if you specify the parameter optional #integer:

tColour = tImage.getPixel (x, y, #integer)

FWIW, when I use getPixel on an 8-bit grayscale image, I see values like color (233) (or 233 just if I use the #integer parameter)

Are you familiar with file > Automate > Fit Image? It could be recorded in the Action, but Image Processor could be more practical anyway.

  • Print on demand of the apps in the project in grayscale

Is that what is anyone aware of a way to print regular app in draft mode in grayscale (black cartridge only)? I don't like the idea of printing in color on the "normal setting", given that I get several pages every morning and use as much ink as possible... My printer is a Photosmart 5510 B111a, and I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

    Hi LK-1037.

I understand that you have a question about printing apps.   Unfortunately there is no way to put on for grayscale printing applications.

    I hope this helps.

  • Why overlays take much longer on grayscale images single precision

    Hello

I came across a rather curious problem. In a Visual inspection machine, we create 8-bit 16MPixel images. These are then calculated in single precision images. After processing the image display us certain types of images of result to the user. Here, the user can use the mouse on the image display and gets a reading of the current image of the sector where the mouse is currently positioned. If the image is RGB or U8, fine.

However, if the display holds one of the 32-bit grayscale images things become quite slow, by a factor of 5 to 10 about. Now I can see that 32-bit is quite a bit more than 8 bits, so I guess an increase in lap by a maximum factor of 4 times.

Since the images are large enough, an update takes about 90-100 ms with the 32-bit image, while the same action requires little more than 10 to 20 ms with U8 and same RGB. Because the movement of the mouse is caught by a structure of the event, all movements are processed and finally the tail to cause a blockage of the software that all these events are processed. This leads to ridiculously long 'freeze' time in the software, sometimes as long as 20 sec, as I saw through a log of the events has been implemented for this purpose.

Attached is an example of code that shows the unusually long processing time for overlays on SGL-images. If there is any suggestion, I would be happy to read them. Thanks in advance.

After in-depth discussions with German support NOR we have understood that it is not primarily the recovery action that consumes time, but rather my screen image update after each action of the event. As my goal was to provide the user with the most recent image information available as close to the position of the mouse as possible there is no another way to do it without compromising the goal that I have explained.

Several alternative ideas, we had (some don't work well) are briefly explained below:

    1. Use the property of the band of the art instead of creating an overlay

      • PRO: ultra fast response because no update of the display image is needed, easy to implement
      • Cons: Stationary, takes advanced band rest a while to appear, requires the user to stay in the same place on the screen for a while, the band faded unpredictable (in my test) and reappears only after leaving and returning to the display picture more keep the mouse pointer for a few seconds
    2. Use an extra (classic style) indicator string to display the desired text in the desired position
      • PRO: also very fast
      • CON: kind of hassle to the code, because it implies the correct calculation of the desired position of the channel indicator using the position of the window of the façade, the image appears indicator and the position of the mouse. Actually not hard I know, but nothing that see you with your mind on your dinner... You'll need a bunch of different reference types here to acquire the position necessary to window VI, indicator to display Image and mouse properties
    3. As 2 but without moving the indicator
      • PRO: fast and easy to implement
      • CON: not as easy to use since the indicator is stationary somewhere around the display of images and not at the mouse position.
    4. copy/typecast image SGL U8 image and move forward with overlays
      • PRO: the response is improved to the level that I used
      • CON: 'problem' with the update of the display image remains and therefore increases the response time the picture gets
    5. Use the property of the information string Image instead of creating an overlay
      • PRO: would be faster than 1., since no required update picture
      • k.o. - CON: property seems to be Read-Only, so no changes defined by the user of the text is possible

I guess my choice will be 2.

If anyone has other ideas on this subject, I will be always happy to hear about them.

  • Grayscale on 8600

Is it possible to print in grayscale on the 8600? I looked in the properties of the printer and that you do not see an option. I also wonder if I can print on legal paper 2 sides. I get an error message. Thank you.

    Hello

You can print grayscale setting accordingly printing preferences.

Open printing preferences screen, and then click the Advanced button.

Set the grayscale option print high-quality levels of grey or BlackInk only.

For your other question, automatic duplex printing is not supported for Legal US size, you'll find listed under specifications of paper output > supported paper formats below:

  • Photosmart HP 5510 does not leak possible internal ink black ink print

A few days ago, I noticed that my 5510 photosmart printer was printing not anything in grayscale. The printer was only print a blank page. Given that the black cartridge was running low I deciced to replace the cartridge with a new cartridge HP XL Black real. This doesn't seem to work so I replaced the cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges as well because they were weak. Once again this seems not the problem with the black ink print do not. I tried UN plugging in the printer, restore the factory settings, the ink head cleaning (as well as manually clean the black ink head), uninstall and reinstall the printer on my computer software and ensuring that each cartridge is properly ventilated properly. I tried to print a color document printed fine, but he left what was supposed to be black on the page.

I decided to investigate the inside of the printer, a little further with a flashlight while it was unplugged. Everything seemed fine until I have move the carriage of ink to the left and noticed that when the transport of ink is normally found on the far right, was full of black ink. Splashes of black ink are found all over the structure of the printer. The padding that is located inside the base of the printer is dipped in black ink as well. I don't know if this is normal or if this is the reason why black ink is not printing correctly, but I have pictures if anyone is interested in seeing.

The possibility of replacing the printer bothers me a lot because I just bought yesterday only $90 of the ink.

    Hi @Samantha88

I will private message you on that.

  • Color LaserJet Pro M277DW: LaserJet Pro M277DW Color print in b & W / Grayscale only in Mac OSX PhotoShop / InDesign

First of all, I have consulted page 123 of the manual as a response to a similar question can be a solution. The options mentioned for select tab color, and grayscale, etc., apply only to the Windows driver, not OSX.

I use Mac OS x.  With the base driver ready to install on the Mac, there is a box of Options of the printer with a 'Black & White' checkbox is available, this will print successfully using only the black toner, in *not color managed* software, such as the preview Mac and Word, etc.

In Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, even with the checkbox 'Black & White' ticked, the software continues to print in color, by substituting the safe choice 'black and white' of the driver.

How can I force the LaserJet Pro M277DW Color to print using only black toner cartridge in PhotoShop / InDesign / Acrobat, color managed - on a Max OSX software?

This can be easily achieved with my Epson color inkjet printers, if I select black only - I get only a black / grey print from Photoshop / Indesign / Acrobat, why is it not an option with this HP printer? -Surely everyone needs this option B & W, a basic requirement and should have been in the design of the driver of the day 1. which option / check box / treat I'm dominant? Why is Photoshop / Indesign / Acrobat of the substitution of the option of blocking & saved from the driver?

    HELP PLEASE!

    -------

NB. the question is not helped with the dedicated HP driver downloaded from the drivers HP page. This looks like it offers more options via a link "web-server" to the printer, but with this driver the 'black' option is totally deleted Print Options! - Neither is B & W available as a print of "web-server" Printers page, making the entiely to the useless HP driver!

See here, it's using the dedicated downloaded driver, the B & W option is gone! -which means that I can not print even in B & W with the software not color managed (Mac Preview etc)...

After a day of experimentation, the question was a subtle detail when you select Add a printer.

Maybe it will help others with the same problem when using Mac OSX...

When you add a printer in the dropdown list use, the default is Secure AirPrint, this removes the possibility to print in B & W! - and removes the other options!  Got knows why this is the default value.

Make sure you only select the printer named on this drop down menu - the M277dw - as has pointed out below.

The printer will then work with all available parameters - and works wirelessly (I assumed the use, it will take the AirPrint - but he doesn't - that this also removes the features; selects the actual name of the printer).

Once this 'use' is defined correctly, the grayscale option is available via the Options of the printer in the application you are printing since then, inclusing Photoshop, etc., whew.  I also saved it as a "Preset" BW...

  • 8600 value default duplex setting and grayscale

We use an Officejet Pro 8600 in our small business.  Unfortunately some of the team just cannot get into their routine to make sure that most duplex printing and grayscale.  We tried to change all the default settings on their portable respective, but somehow they return back to color and unilateral.  Is there a way to impose default settings of the printer itself?  Thank you

    Hi @Redontheroad ,

Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.

I understand what you are saying about wanting to change the default values for the printer so that your employees can not possibly spoil and use ink color or printing only 1 side.

Unfortunately, this is not possible, that you are only able to do what you did and change the Computer Configuration on each computer.

Sorry that there is not a better options for you! Good luck with the step of training used!

  • Select the color of bitmap images or grayscale in InDesign CC 2015.4

    Hi all

Since InDesign CS1, I'm used to be able to import levels of grayscale or bitmap graphics, and then select the color in InDesign.

I just had to choose the "Direct Selection" tool, click on the graphic and select another color.

Since InDesign version CC 2015.4 it no longer works.

    No workaround is it available?

    Thank you

    Robin (from Germany)

    Hi Robin,

This is a bug with InDesign CC 2015.4.
To set the end of August.

So far, you could always leave the preview overlay mode on.
So the bug is not visible.

  • is it possible to get the EPS encoding (IE.. BINARY, ASCII, ASCII85)

    Hello world

is it possible to get the ASCII85 encoding BINARY, ASCII, EPS, JPEG (low)...

The format of Photoshop EPS files is partially documented here:

    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet-apps/Photoshop/fileformatashtml/#50577413_pgfId-1035096

Photoshop includes a comment in the EPS so that it is able to read, it writes files insert it again. Third-party programs that write files EPS pixel-based can include this comment in EPS files, so that Photoshop can read their files.

The comment must follow immediately after the % block of comments at the beginning of the file. The comment is:

    %ImageData: ""

: Width of the image in pixels.

: Height of the image in pixels.

: Number of bits per channel. Must be 1 or 8.

    : Picture mode. Image bitmap/levels of gray = 1; Lab = 2; RGB = 3; CMYK = 4.

: Number of another string in the file store. Ignored when reading. Photoshop uses this to include a grayscale image that is printed on PostScript printers without colors.

: Number of bytes per line per channel. Will be 1 or formula (see below):

    1 = data are interleaved.

(columns * depth + 7) / 8 = data are stored in line-interlaced format, or there is only a single channel.

    :

1 = data in binary format.

2 = data in hexadecimal ascii format.

: PostScript the line immediately preceding the image data. This entire line should not occur elsewhere in the PostScript header code, but it can happen to part of a line.

  • How can I export to PDF for printing Offset, including colors and grayscale of the photo?

After reading dozens of forum, I not yet found the answer.

I made a photo album with full-colur and b & w photos for Offset print. I want to be for the b & w grayscale avoid the hues of colors possible. It seems that InDesign does not support the shades of gray, how images become dark. Even with export without any conversion of color or the destination and/or including profiles of original colors, the images are exported to obscurity as a PDF to grayscale.

How can I export to PDF for printing Offset, including colors and grayscale of the photo?

Yes, Photoshop & ID CMYK working spaces are the same

This can become difficult because 3 programs manage proofing differently.

Work spaces don't matter, document profiles that handle the preview. So here's the same image in grayscale, placed in the ID on the top and PS on the bottom. I put my info in Photoshop to display the profile of doc in the lower left corner. I can see the profile of my InDesign CMYK Document in my test format (CMYK work is different and is not used). The two profiles are actually the same coated FOGRA39 (Black Ink FOGRA in the case of the PS).

But the previews do not match because I disabled, so the preview InDesign is Gamma 2.2 or a "screen" media preview overprinting.

If I turn on overprint preview, I get a match because I'm soft proofing for printing:

  • CS6 Illustrator: How to convert a mesh (white-> grayscale) (white-> alpha)?

I just finished a bunch of graphics, using meshes almost entirely degraded to various levels of transparency. I used 'screen' for transparency mode, and each mesh point is a color to grayscale from white (bright spots) to black. This combination has reached a "brilliant effect"; black and gray colors appear as transparent when my drawings are shown against a form of color.

However, when I removed the colored background of form, the black and gray gradient points, originally published under different levels of transparency, white appear now as the pixels in grayscale. I'm really a beginner to Illustrator, but it surprised me that the colors of black and gray screen/gradient appears differently without background.

Attached is a simple example: a gradient mesh appears with transparency on a red background. But when we remove the red background, a black color appears. I would like to convert the different levels of black at different levels of alpha, as they appear when figure on red background

Is it possible to convert red for alpha, or grayscale pixels at different levels of white / transparent, without having to click on each gradient mesh point?

Effect on a background of origin. (this is the desired effect of transparency, only I wish it were the same thing without a static background color)

    Screen Shot 2014-06-18 at 4.10.47 AM.png

But when I slide on the background color, the gray pixels replace transparency. (I wanted to keep the transparency where the gray pixels in the gradient mesh screen)

    Screen Shot 2014-06-18 at 4.10.54 AM.png

Without a background color, any export in PNG will be black pixels, instead of transparent pixels. (I wanted to here the transparent pixels).

    Screen Shot 2014-06-18 at 4.10.59 AM.png

I am software developer, so the reason why I want to remove the background while preserving transparency gradient is then I'll be able to dynamically insert background running colors, or insert other images between the background color and gradient. Yes, it's true I could generate all combinations of colors, but in my case it would mean 36 export images from Adobe Illustrator, as opposed to the image export only 6. Package 36 images would also increase the space required by my compiled application.

Is it possible to keep the desired transparency effect, when you export for use against any background color?

You can try and apply as an opacity mask to a white circle.

  • image to grayscale to color

I have an image in grayscale I placed in Illustrator CS6. I would change the black to a Pantone color - turning it into a kind of Duotone.

Is this possible or do I do in Photoshop first?

I found a way "descendant" to do so using the change > > change the colors. But I must first choose to invert the colors, then adjust the balance of color..., then set the color opposite mode CMYK, then invert the colors even once. It is a major concern and will not work with a Pantone color.

    Thanks for your help, everyone.

    -Scott

If a raster image, simply apply the Pantone color as a fill color.

  • How to hatch a picture easily complex grayscale?

    Hello

I tried to hatch a complex image with a single model, but with weights of different diseases.

Here, I added a picture of a simple image to grayscale with below the outbreak that I'm doing. In short: I want to use the hatches only 45 degrees in this direction. However, according to the gray value, I would like the hatches have a different weight.

However, given that this image is quite simple, only four different weight were needed. However, I would like to know if there is an easy way to do this for complex images. For this image I used just fill with weights of different disease patterns, but I would like something softer and easier, preferably one where it would be possible to have several different weight without having to divide the image into thirty different pieces and thirty different fill patterns.

I don't know if this is possible, but I might be overlooking something. If it is possible with a plugin, I would like to know also. Even if there is a work around using Photoshop, and the final result would not be an ideal vehicle, would be nice. :-)

    Thank you in advance,

OK, so I'm just in line-bitmapping your photo in Photoshop at 600 dpi, then live tracing in Illie.

The result is really better than this one suggest.

  • Convert to grayscale

    Hello

It's possible to apply the convert to grayscale(Edition-> Edit colors-> convert to grayscale) for the selected items in illustrator cs3 in the script (javascript)?

    Kindly advice me the possibilities.

I am a beginner, I hope someone help me

    Thank you very much

Oops, sorry about that, I should have checked before I give you bad advice.

You may need to record an action (manually) to convert it to grayscale, then perform the action through javascript

    or

Use executeMenuCommand and try to find the right 'chain' to convert to grayscale

the two methods are new CS6, but undocumented. Search the Forum, samples of its use have been published before... Sorry, I'm still with CS5, I can't test.
