After changing the motherboard on my PC, a Dell Optiplex gx270s Windows XP SP3, the computer (which also works fine) does not see the CD/DVD or floppy drives CD, DVD or floppy is inserted. I run Acrobat Professional so that I can change/brand place/comment in the PDF files. At one point recently I noticed "Acrobat Reader DC" in the name of the file at the top of the page. I do not have ask this or do anything to get there that I was aware of this. I adjusted for the new look of the screen and edited several files without incident. But yesterday, I opened a large file which had been addressed to me in Dropbox. When I downloaded and opened it and tried to change it, the selection tool was not aligned properly, so the selected areas were elsewhere on the page, where the cursor was. I restarted my computer and was able to change the file more or less normally (I noticed more little glitches with this CD player but I can live with them). But when tried to save the file with a new file name, like I always do to differentiate files that changed since the original files, the save window is empty. There is no option to save the file with a new file name. In fact. There is no option to save the file with the changes! I thought maybe it was a problem with this file only, but when I tried to edit a file provided by regular e-mail, I met the same problem trying to save to a new file name. What is the relationship between my old Acrobat Professional and Acrobat Reader DC? Why can't save files normally? I managed to save the changes I did by saving it in the cloud to Adobe (I had to then because I could not send the file by e-mail because of its size - I tried to send it to me)., but I'd rather widely navigate in Windows Explorer to work with files. I suspect that there is some simple aspects about what I am simply absent or do not know. Can anyone help?

Suggest you clean boot Vista x 64 . Perform step 1 .
Once in the clean boot state, run the Fixit here in clicking on the Internet Explorer shortcut and choosing "Run as Administrator" . Enter a password, if one is used, or click on the button continue. :
How to reset the Windows Update components? Then click the Fixit button, click run in the file download dialog box, and follow the steps described in the fix it Wizard. and choose the default option. Restart the system after the tool runs and check if updates are available, and if they install automatically.
Since it's Patch Tuesday, updates should be available for the system soon, if not today.
IF no updates installed automatically in the coming days, rerun the Fixit but aggressive use.
Don't forget to Cancel the clean boot once you have completed the steps running the Fixit. Please be patient. If you want to see if updates are available but are regulated, check WindowsUpdate.log: How to read the Windowsupdate.log file

Luckilly I have an iphone so managed to get on internet forums and find a solution which was to use a command in cmd.exe that fixed the problem.
The only thing is now that I have a very basic windows Classic theme that when I try to change to Vista in the theme settings it gives the message:
* "the theme could not load. %1 is not a valid win32 application. "Any help and step by step for the user base would be much appreciated! I guess it can't be that bad since Windows is still running and working properly!
Thank you
Hi tarmacsnortingmonster,
That is the reason why I n t play with any 3rd themes part because I always read from time to time on various problems after installation. So I don't use Windows themes pre-installed and don t have problems.
In any case, I think you should try a system restore to an earlier point before installing this theme.
I hope this helps if not it is time to reinstall Windows, I think that :( -
How can I change my default settings so that Windows Explorer, downloads, etc., all open to the folder I chose instead of "libraries.
Here is an article on how to change this folder opens when you click on an icon in Windows Explorer:http://www.watchingthenet.com/how-to-change-windows-explorer-icon-to-open-a-diffierent-folder-in-windows-xp-and-vista.html. I think this will do the trick. Otherwise, maybe the following can help (but I think that's the answer you're looking for).
Here's how to change the default template for a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70819-windows-explorer-folder-view-settings.html. Default behavior is to select the model based on the first type of file placed in the folder (you must choose something). Vista sets thefolder type template according to what are the types of files in the window and the settings display window Explorer. This will show you how to resetthe Windows Explorer folder view settings, disable Automatic folder Type discovery and increase theview of the folder cache to have Vista don't forget display settings, model of file type, size, or position of a specific window for when it was still closed to the location of specific path. Keep in mind that it works, just a generic and holistic - it will not work for individual folders by folder. That cannot be done in Vista. But you can create shortcuts to the folders that you want and add to the desktop or right-click
It does not work with the Sub record under, Open with, open in a new tab (Internet Explorer), etc... dialog windows of type through the goodFile menu bar item. These don't seem to be able to have their size or their position to recall. For the latter, you can use the free programhttp://autosizer.en.softonic.com/to resize them.
Here is another article on how to modify the columns in Windows Explorer and sort in Vista:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/108665-column-customize.html. This will show you how Add, Remove, move, change the widthand change the sort order of the columns in Windows Explorer in the way that you want.
Here is another article on how to change the display of the default folders in Vista (but she argues, it is not a perfect solution and can revert to the previous behavior is not as good as the two prior links provided:http://news.cnet.com/8301-13880_3-10019957-68.html.)
I hope this helps in your situation.
Good luck!

On my windows vista computer, whenever I turn on my computer and log on, none of my programs work. An error message appears saying that the program has stopped working and windows will try to find a solution to the problem. The problem is that the help and support center opens either. None of my internet programs to be open, and the same error message for all. We have tried to turn off DEP, and that did not help. My computer is connected to the internet (2wire) but is not able to run due to the problems with my computer. I scanned my computer with windows defender, and we found no problem. Help, please
Hi Anna1298,
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:
Method 1:
Step 1: Start in safe mode and check if the problem persists.
Start your computer in safe mode
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, you can put your system to boot (in normal mode) to solve the problem.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to configure the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 provided in the above article.
Method 2: Try the SFC (System File Checker) scan on the computer.
How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
Method 3: I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
Important: During the scan of the hard drive if bad sectors are found, the scanner tries to repair this sector, all available on which data may be lost.
Let us know if that helps.

Hello
I have an Acer with Vista SP2. It has no boot and auto repair after that I stupidly shut the computer manually during a Windows Update.

Now Windows does not start, and the auto repair / recovery options have failed three times. Initially he gave me a (?) I bought a second hand computer and I have no original discs and I can't find a manually created recovery disc I thought I made some time ago. If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:

You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
