Run Bit Defender on my Mac?

El Capitan, 10.11.4 running VS.

I installed Bit Defender on my Mac. I assumed it was OK I found for Bit Defender in the iTunes Store. Should I not have installed?

I guess you mean that you have installed since the Mac App Store (apps on the iTunes Store are for iOS devices).

If you use BitDefender, it's an anti-virus program; Windows Defender is an Anti-Spyware program that is installed with the Vista operating system.

  • Problem: Windows Security Center gives me a "alert" that my anti-virus is turned off, but I am running Windows defender and Microsoft Security Essentials.

Windows Security Center gives me a "alert" that my anti-virus is disabled.  I have Win XP Professtional and'm running Windows defender and Microsoft Security Essentials times which I recently uninstalled, restarted the computer and reinstalled more updated.  I read related security problems, but I have not found a match.  I have a screenshot of the Win Security Center Alert, but unable to attach.  It is said: ' Windows found multiple antivirus programs on this computer, but they all report that they could be updated or disabled. " Click on the recommendations for suggested actions... [what I did without success, i.e. update.  «[I uninstalled, stop, rebooted and reinstalled and updated]»

When I shoot to the top of MSE it says, "protection is enabled, and updated definitions.

Windows Defender said: "Nothing detected" and "computer running normally."

Before the uninstall and update, I ran System Mechanic from Iolo, who has done wonders for speed.

When it comes to antivirus software, you want one and only one installed and running on your computer.  Two or more may come into conflict with eachother and degrade performance.  I advise you to uninstall Windows defender and use soley mse.

also I strongly suggest that you avoid using "PC optimization" tools.  They can help a little, but they often do more harm than good.

  • I run Windows Defender if I also runs Windows Essentials?

My 8 year old computer's operating system is XP. I recently downloaded Windows essentials and get rid of my previous anti-virus/spyware software.  I run Windows Defender if I also runs Windows Essentials?

Are you a person speaking of Windows Live Essentials, or Microsoft Security Essentials? The first has nothing to do with security. The latter, MSE, does this same work as Windows Defender and much more. It is not only unnecessary to run WD, you can't. MSE will it stop design to avoid conflicts and you can remove it from your machine completely if you wish.

Microsoft Security Essentials has its own integrated version of the defender and should automatically disable the version of Vista in Windows Defender.

  • Why not run Windows Defender analyzes the calendar?

I set schedule to run Windows Defender scan at 18:00 on money under standard user account, but I find that there is no digital activity Records.

Anyone have any suggestions on what evil is?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions

    Hello Oem,

    Thank you for your response.

Only security software can run on your computer at a time. Having more than one security software installed at a time and keeping the two race can cause conflicts between them, which can lead to many problems of Windows.

If you want Windows Defender to run, you must keep one-third of security software disabled. As soon as you turn on the Defender third-party security software Windows by default is disabled automatically.

Hope that answers your question. Do not hesitate to write back for any further assistance with Windows, we will be happy to help you.

  • Current running Windows Defender and other software antiviral at the same time?

Can I run Windows Defender if I run another program of the anti-virals at the same time?

Windows Defender is disabled to prevent computers on Vista and Windows 7 possible software conflicts when antimalware programs such as AVG, McAfee, MSE and Norton are installed.

For more information about Windows Defender on Windows 7, see http://securitygarden.blogspot.com/2011/04/understanding-microsoft-anti-malware.html

If it still works after that you installed an antivirus program, I suggest that disable you Windows Defender.

    Thank you

    Hi Byron,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I do not understand that you are unable to connect to Windows to receive the updates and run Windows Defender and I'll be happy to answer your query.

This could be due to any dispute of third party software or system files missing or corrupt. We will try the following methods and check.

Method 1: Put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.

Method 2: Run the System File Checker tool

System File Checker is a Windows utility that allows users to find corruptions in Windows system files and restore the damaged files.

Press the Windows key + X , and then click prompt (Admin)

Type the following command and press enter

    sfc/scannow

Note: Do not close the command prompt window until the audit is completed 100%. The results of the analysis will be posted when this process is complete.

From now on, try the methods above and let us know the result.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.
