Grayscale tiff don't colorize placed in Illustrator

I was working with a scan today, grayscale, and I was able to place in an Illustrator file, then colorize without problem. When I went into the Photoshop file and duplicate the original layer of digital locked and saved on the tiff format would not colorize in Illustrator. Had to return the raw scan and rework the file without duplicating the original locked layer. It took more time and is a bit worrying.  Does anyone know why it won't colorize the tiff in grayscale with layer duplicated in Illustrator? Any idea on this would be greatly appreciated. Oh one last thing, colorization worked with tones but not CMYK builds. I forgot to mention that.

FIXED FIXED... Just happened to a co-worker of mine using CC (also works in CS6)... Here's what we did to fix it. Open the file in photoshop, click the bottom/last layer in your Layer palette. Next in the menu bar: layer > New > background from layer. Record. Now, in illustrator, you can color the file. If you have ever tried to colorization, the color should now display when you switch to illustrator. NOTE: it will flatten this last layer, if it is not ok for you then add a layer of white inside, make a background layer, as described above, and 'disable' the layer by clicking the eyeball next to him. Save and you're done. Hope this helps someone.

    Tried to revive demand, re-boot PC in the case of a technical problem. Something with graphic blocks that must be re-stored I don't know?

    I also tried to create a new page, import another image and persist on the issue.

    How do I "re-adjust" my settings so it does not once again?

    Thank you!

    Here is the information about resetting your Pref.: replace your preferences

    But this probably isn't the problem. Are you sure that the images are really grayscale? What format they are stored in? They may not be colorized to identity card if they are transparent or do not have a background layer.

  • PDF/X1a with a logo that contains a colorized grayscale tiff print does not correctly

    I have a 3 logo colors: black, SPM 200U and PMS 1955U. The logo was built in Illustrator and I placed ontop of it grayscale tiff. Tiff grayscale is a dashed effect (points) that I have colorized to PMS 1955U in Illustrator, try it hidden on top of the logo and place it to multiply. In Illustrator, separations of good appearance and it prints fine when you print directly from illustrator.

    The problem is when I export to a PDF/x1a and try to print it, it does not print correctly. Printing from acrobat, it only presents a preview and print the PMS 1955U to the dotted line and black. Does not print the flat PMS 200U in the tiff format. I tried bitmapping file photoshop and make that the monochromatic stipple and still doesn't seem to work when you export to PDF and printing.

    Funny, that's when I do the whole process for the logo CMYK (not PMS), it prints fine to a PDF/x1a.

    Any ideas on how to get the logo to export and print correctly?

    Any help is very appreciated!

    Print quality using PDF version 1.4 that supports transparency while PDF/X-1a uses PDF version 1.3 which requires transparency to be flattened.

    For your problem, try to activate the overprint Preview in Acrobat preferences and see that you get the expected results, use the output in Acrobat Preview Panel to turn off individual plate to see if your missing PMS 200U is listed and flat color appears.

    If the foregoing is not works, please send me the files to reproduce this problem at my end, I will send my email in private message for you.

  • Files placed in Illustrator

    I don't know real with Illustrator and try to understand the linked items. I also read a post here, which spoke of a 'part of Acrobat' in the .ai file.

    I HAVE files from a customer if I watch it with a hex editor, I see that they were created to CS6, all are a pie chart which was apparently related to something else and had the text added around the graph in Illustrator.

    Their opening in CS6, we get a warning of a linked file missing. Only 1 file, the pie chart will appear. If I select the pie chart is shows like 'Monitoring of Image' in the layers palette. If I save immediately that one to PDF pie chart shows when opened in Acrobat and vector (which I could wait his aims at as a "trace"). If I do anything for it in Illustrator (for example, to resize the pie chart), it disappears, then cancel even won't bring him back. For all other files the circular diagram shows as a PSD or a tif in the layers palette.

    If I rename the .ai to .pdf files open them in Acrobat showing pie charts. Opening in a CS3 in import and also shows pie charts.

    So... what the heck is Illustrator to store in the file have? Is the reference to a 'PDF part' I saw in another post saying that the pie chart is actually IN the file even if it does not appear in Illustrator?

    Thank you for taking the time to read my long question.

    Best,
    Ken

    No, I don't think it's a bug. But as the source file is not there, of course, you can't change anything. And scale must be considered to be a change, because the image will then be traced.

    If you can not reach the client, you can use a trick to get the raster on the embedded PDF file by opening your HAVE in Photoshop. In the next dialog box, select "Images". Then find the image, open and save a PSD or TIF. Then repeat in Illustrator when he asks.

  • Bitmaps placed in Illustrator from Photoshop have different color degradation?

    When I place a bitmap image in illustrator from Photoshop, the distribution of the color changes. In photoshop, it could be solved by using a 100% black with 0% CMY and K100% but when I place it in illustrator, changes in distribution to say C:78.89%, M:80.45%, Y:88.90% K:90.45%.

    Anyone know why this happens and how to prevent it?

    Thank you!!

    You can read the values of the exact color of a bitmap imported into Illustrator, you should open the imaeg in photoshop. Never use pipette SHIFT if you want a color accuracy.

    To prove it to yourself, you can use overview of separation to check that there are no CMY in your placed image or print separation on a laser printer.

    Here are the values that I get using shift pipette.

    But look at there is no CMY.

  • The image placed in illustrator is the right size, even if the original was resized in photoshop

    Hi when I resize an image in photoshop and then "place" in illustrator 'placed' image is way smaller in illustrator than photoshop.

    To give an example, I just created a canvas photoshop 900px x 900px with a resolution of 300ppi and filled with red color. Then, I saved this image to JPEG to jpeg format had a dimension of 900px x 900px.

    Then I open an illustrator document format to 900px x 900px at 300 PPI and 'placed' red jpeg I created in illustrator into photoshop.

    Now, I expect the "put" jpeg in order to cover the entire artboard in illustrator because the jpeg format is 900px x 900px and so is the artboard. However what is really happening is the image "set" is displayed, but is more than four times smaller in illustrator! In itself, this isn't a problem, but then when I scale up the size I want for example 900px x 900px, resolution begins to decrease and radically!

    How can I fix this I want to be the size of a photo and "place" in illustartor to the appropriate size and 300 DPI so I can print it!

    Help, please! Thanks in advance!

    mrplod,

    Ah, now I know what you mean.

    Illy basically works points, 1 point = 1/72 of an inch, and the pixel of the camera (you can choose instead of points, inches, etc.) has the same value, 1/72nd of an inch. This ambiguity is part of the difficulty to understand all this.

    I chose an image which is 3508px x 2631px and 300 ppi.

    An image that is 3508px x 2631px is just that: it comes to the size of the pixels, which means that it is made of 3508 x 2631 = 9 229 548 pixels (small squares), each of which can have its own color, no more, no less.

    This image can be represented in any size in any application, and the size will determine its resolution in PPI (Pixels Per Inch). If you divide the size of 300 to get a resolution of 300 DPI, you will get 11.693 x 8.77 inches = 841.92 631,44 points/pixels x (included in the unit 1/72nd of an inch).

    This means if you want that image to display a resolution of at least 300 PPI you get more 11.693 x 8.77 inches = 841.92 x 631,44 points/pixels (pixels as units to Illy).

    If you wish to zoom at 300 DPI, you start with a great and original image.

    An image setting up a work plan of 900 x 900 points/pixels = 12.5 x 12.5 inches at 300 PPI will be 3750 x 3750 pixel (300 * 12.5 = 3750).

    Are you sure it's the real size of the red square, you did in Photoshop? If so, I have no idea why it shows the way for it to Illy.

    Edit:

    I just read it again:

    I saved then this image to JPEG to jpeg format had a dimension of x 900px 900px

    When you export to JPEG, you can set a resolution, but you can also just save it to a real pixel (as in Save for Web & devices) for example size 900 x 900 pixels. Maybe it's when things go wrong.

  • By pixel resizing and placing in Illustrator

    Hello: All the newbie here, please have mercy.

    I'm great a jpg image resizing of 1544 x 1024 px to 170x113px with PS CS3.  When I then placed the image in Illustrator the image fills only 40x17px.  I tried to save the image in jpg and psd format and the same thing happens. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Thank you!

    All right, click on transform in the control panel (what we call the bar of Options here) and change the size from there

  • . Don't update the AI Illustrator files in After Effects

    CC Yes after effects 2014 (and perhaps older versions?) had a feature that I really liked where if you have imported an illustrator (.ai) file into After Effects, you can change this file in Illustrator without having to re - import the file back into After Effects. The image would automatically update.

    I use CC AE 2015 and Illustrator CS5.1 and this method does not work. The illustrator file to update or change, even when I reload the film or purge the memory of the software. Also, I rebooted my computer for fun, but that did not work. This functionality has changed in 2015 After effects version? Y at - there a step I'm missing?

    Here is my example. I want this red screw to have fewer teeth, so I deleted my teeth in Illustrator up to five:

    illustrator.jpg

    After this change and in saving it, nothing changes in After Effects. He holds the stick to the old version of the screw, which has about nine teeth:

    ae.jpg

    It could refer to a preview stored in the cache, serving and see if that makes a difference.

  • Surface Pro 3 pen / stylus don't work well in Illustrator, works fine in Photoshop

    Nice day

    I had CC on a Surface Pro 3 for two months now and I tried to solve the erratic behavior of the use of the pen to Surface in Illustrator. I checked the batteries (there are several batteries in the pen), making sure that they are installed correctly. I went into the settings win 8.1 and checked the pen to ensure the good functioning. This works fine in other applications; shoot well in Photoshop, fresh paint, one Note, etc..

    When you use the Brush tool to the pen in Illustrator, I am only able to draw all other lines. Sometimes it's once every third or fourth line. I need to greatly slow down to Illustrator to recognize, I draw, and even in this case, I'm not guaranteed that draws a line. This issue is not isolated to the Brush tool. Almost any action with the pen on canvas product at random (selections, join, etc.). It's not frustrating!

    Everyone knows underperformance of Surface pen in Illustrator?  If not, I guess I have a hardware problem, but it is strangely an app problem, see how the pen works very well in the rest of my apps.

    Hi all

    Thanks to Monika Gause all-day support extended. The Illustrator team really appreciate this.

    Monika deleted (uninstalled) the N-trig Wintab x 64 application/driver of the system and the question had re-solved.

    We would like to hear from everyone who is experiencing this problem, what happens when they follow the above step.

  • Why my images placed in Illustrator are grayed out?

    I just got a new installation of Illustrator CC and every time I place a raster image in my document, it seems weak or very light. When I go to export the image, the PNG file image is displayed correctly.

    Not the link but the actual layer that the link is on in the layers panel.

    I just had a few problems with the creative Cloud app not loading and give me a download error message.

    After some research, I found a few fixes that have been confirmed to work.

    My creative application cloud charge now, but still none of my apps start - looks like they load but then nothing.

    The icon in the dock does not open it. below the icons of application, by clicking on them, it does nothing.

    Hi Joel,

    I think that you have found the "download error" in the Apps Panel.

    Please check the help below document:

  • TIFF grayscale isn't coloring in Illustrator

    I try to color to a grayscale TIFF in illustrator, but it stays just black. I click on the TIFF format, then the color palette, but nothing happens. Help, please!

    Is it 'flattened '? that is not stratified format (a layer called layer 0 nevertheless taken into account as a file "layer")

  • Color adjustment and the overlay to a placed image (this is a grayscale image)

    So I will try to set the color of an image I placed a color point, then set it to overprint the fill.

    I created a rectangle and adds these attributes. But I can't seam to get the same thing to work for a picture (gray scale).

    PlacedItems don't colorize of property or methods, overprint property too.

    However, we can define the color by Colorize method together with overprint property after converted to the use of embedded rasterItems method.

    Here is a small code example:

    var clr= new CMYKColor;
    clr.cyan = 50;
    clr.magenta = 50;
    clr.yellow = 0;
    clr.black = 0;

    app.selection[0].embed(); //selection[0] must be placedItem
    app.selection[0].rasterItems[0].overprint = true;
    app.selection[0].rasterItems[0].colorize(clr);

    I want to put a logo and then color with a color of the pallett. So I think that a grayscale tiff file is the

    I need that it is transparent, in order to put them on panels of color in ID hope that this will make sence.

    But if it's a solid fill logo then bitmap is probably the best solution...
