Greatly reduced after standby download speed

About 2-3 years ago my dropped download speed of about 14 Mbps to 5 Mbps after getting out of the mode standby.

I am running xp with all updates and everything works ok - cpu temp is ok, HD temp is ok and works well and motherboard temp is ok, all times are running C. 38-42. This can happen after an update from Ms. Everything works well. This unit was bought new in 05 and only 2 hardware problems that have been fixed - audio device replaced after about 6 months and one power supply has been replaced in the last year or so.

Of general interest, I'm running an Athlon 64 3000 + and AMD All In Wonder 9600 with 128 MB card.  In general, the amount of energy is reduced in sleep mode, a value of % is ok.

Many thanks - Doug

  • Slow download speed after downgrading to Windows 7 64 bit

    Hi all!

I'm new here! My first laptop is a Toshiba Satellite since 2003. Since then, I got one couple of others.
Now I bought a new: Satellite P70-A-11V, a portable professional high-end computer, which came with Windows 8, which I upgraded to 8.1.

Unfortunately, the degraded system so bad that all pendrives made plant. I have connected my Toshiba camcorder, and it also crashed the laptop. The search indexing was not working outside the C: drive. The pointer of an optical mouse has started to freeze for seconds on the screen.

This last problem, which I think was due to the low power USB ports. So, I really had no choice after 2 restorations system total and installed Windows 7 Enterprise x 64 SP1. The operating system seems ok, but I always have problems, and one of them is that my download speed is very low, as well with LAN cable or wireless. I can't tell how is download speed.

My internet provider provides 100 MB/s internet access via optical cable. I test on Speedtest.net and normally, it gives a range of 50 to 80 Mbps actual download speed. Then, if I check the speed of the connection Wireless wireless connection status, I experience a maximum of 130 MB/s, which is constant. Large.
Yet, no download occurs at a speed of wretched 400 to 500 kbit/s, as if it was a dial-up connection. This problem was not present before.

I tried to change several settings according to the forums, but nothing helped. I disabled the firewall and stimulated wireless (duplex 100 MB) and also tried through LAN cable. The rated speed is great, but apparently the slowness problem is inside the laptop, not outside. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

I checked the Toshiba download page and your laptop is fully supported for Win7 64 bit. Drivers LAN and WLAN are available also so I hope that you have installed all the drivers, tools, and utilities including LAN and WLAN. Can you confirm this?

  • Cannot Hibernate or standby upgrade mode after atest download MS

WinXP: impossible hibernation or standby after the download and installation of the latest updates (10/06/10) MS. get an error massage that says MS NET Framework v1.1.4322 prevents the computer...

I find that the update on my HD, even downloaded the latest version of MS, but I'm reluctant to delete anything and reinstall the new version manually.

    Any suggestions?

When you choose to Hibernate or Stand By XP "audits" with applications and devices and decides whether it is okay to enter this mode.

You may be informed some download is in progress, an installation is in progress, the printer is busy, etc.  It depends on.  Everything has to say it is OK to enter this mode, or it will not be allowed.  If a thing he said it all right now, you will get this kind of... .preventing system of... messages.

If this is not correct, XP will try to tell you what process or device said it that takes things to the top so that you can wait for it to finish or fix another way.

If you look in the tab Manager process tasks and you see install.exe (probably) running, which is likley the dotnetfx.exe tries to install (or something is trying to install).  You may need to put an end to the install.exe via Task Manager process and repeat installation of .NET framework again (manually this time).

Some antivirus software will also interfere with the installation of packages .NET (Avira!, Avast, AVG), so it must be turned off to install or you can boot mode safe where there will be no antivirus running, and then install the .NET framework modules and then restart normally.

The .NET Framework 1.1 is required by some older programs (.NET 4.0 is the current version).  Demand for 1.1 is generally during the installation of older third party software, then have you recently tried to install something and that is this something?

I check in Add/Remove programs and see if you see list of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and if you do, uninstall it and restart.

Then see if your work of Hibernate or Stand By, but it won't work if the install.exe is still running in the Task Manager (which is the real problem).

If you still think that you need the package Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 to something (what?), download and install the dotnetfx.exe directly from there, then run the dotnetfx.exe to install the framework.

The download should start, save the file dotnetfx.exe on your desktop or somewhere, you can find and double-click the executable file to start the installation.

You will need to boot mode safe you have another program interferes with the installation!

  • Download speed drops to 15000 + kbs to 7000-12000kbs after the installation of Vista Ultimate

I've recently upgraded to XP Home to Vista Ultimate. I have Time Warner Cable as my ISP. After upgrading my download speed went from 15000 + kbs to maximum 12000kbs. My download speed has not changed.

I have removed the excess programs and am initialization with minimal configuration. I use IE8. Using Firefox is not better. Everything seems to work fine. Average download is now 9000-10000kbs. Time Warner Cable has checked evertyhing, street speed is 24000 kbs.

Somewhere, something must be running somwhere and eat my bandwidth. I can't find. Also, using Norton 360 v4. Can anyone offer ideas about what happened when I installed Vista?

So it comes to a computer you built yourself or built a generic, not a machine OEM brand? If it is an OEM brand machine you get the drivers from the website of the OEM, not directly from Intel. If it is a generic office, try to throw in a PCI network card and see if that helps. One you use is perhaps not all that compatible with Vista. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Download speed drops but returns to normal after reboot

I am running Windows7 Home Premium with TWC cable service.  The download speed is normally very good, but fall to 20% at random times.  After a restart of the computer, the speed is always returns to normal.  The download speed on my iPad on the LAN remains high at the same time, the speed of Windows is low, then the router and the modem are not probably the issue.  I disabled the home group, but still have the problem.

Nice that you found a resolution. WiFi signals can be affected by a number of factors, such as the distance between the PC and the router, number and type of walls, between the interference from other electrical devices such as microwave and of course the number of other devices connected to the router.

Make sure that you have a secure and look through the router logs, you may be surprised to find that a neighbor jumped on the flight of your bandwidth :)

Finally, it is worth investing in one of the new models with signal dual band (2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz) with multiple antennas and the most recent protocols - ensure that your entire system can take new technologies supported. Update the firmware also.

  • On R7500/R7800 slow download speeds

    Hello:

R7500 and R7800: I see slow speeds (wireless). Wired devices do not exhibit this problem.

After that spend many hours of research and talking with support (which replaced my unit) I found that the problem is with the WAN port. The problem does not exist when you use a switch between the router and the modem netgear. I saw several people in the forums to have this problem so I hope this helps.

I don't think that this workaround is however acceptable.

Is this something that can be fixed with a firmware version?

Steps to reproduce in my case are very simple:

1 - R7500/R7800 connect to a POE Ubiquiti - 24 - 12 10/100 (in my case I have internet citiwide wireless). Make sure your download speed is greater than 20

2 - test the wireless and wired with the netgear router and the router netgear download speeds.

    M.

NETGEAR has released a new firmware for the R7800 that solved the problem (Fw 1.0.2.04)

  • R6200 caps than ethernet wired 200 Mbps of download speed

I recently updated my home ISP service in the service of Time Warner 300mbps. If I make a wired connection to the modem cable from the ISP, I can reach the speed of 300mbps advertised, so I get what I pay for my provider.

However, when I connect the same PC (cable) to the R6200, the download speed is capped at 200 Mbps. This suggests that the question is the R6200 (I'm just the fact to unplug and plug the cable even in another device located a few feet farther).

After 6 weeks, I've been on R6200 manual and parameters and cannot determine if there is a configuration setting, that I need to address, or if there is simply a limitation inherent in the R6200 who is covering my supposed to 200 Mbps gigabit speed I'm not also find in the documentation (or I found something obvious in the research of the community of Netgear).

Other facts: confirmed I have the latest firmware on the R6200 (V1.0.1.56_1.0.43). Computer is a Dell Windows 10 with gigabit ethernet support (16 GB of memory, Intel i7, etc.). While I'm guessing that this is within the parameters of the R6200, I should not deny the fact that it may have something to do with the handshake between the cable modem and the R6200, to complete the cable modem is a ubee.

If someone has had this problem and they solved? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I tried all these things before posting. (I could do worse, but never better than 200 Mbps when it should have been 300mbps.) In recent days, I have been plagued by intermittent Internet outages. The R6200 ended up being at fault, apparently because he didn't want unreliable stay connected. I finally replaced with a R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 and I am happy to say that I get the full the R7000 300mbps. My problem is solved in this regard, although I wasn't expecting to have to replace the R6200.

  • After you download El Capitan, the wheel spins constantly

After you download El Capitan, the wheel continues to turn and do not have access to the computer.  What should I do?  He turned for 3 hours.

    Hi artfromfl,

Thank you for upgrading your Mac to OS X El Capitan! If the download seems to be blocked for a few hours, try to force the Mac to shutdown by holding down the power button until it stops. You can then try to leave it to the top in safe mode. Also, please check your internet connection, if you can connect the Mac directly to your router via an ethernet cable, it would speed up the download process.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

If the download does not progress in safe mode, you can delete the El Capitan installer in your downloads folder in the Finder application, and then try to download os Sierra instead.  macOS Sierra

This should put Mac to update without delay at all. Please use the Apple Support communities to post your question. Good day.

  • Speed upload a third download speed?

Pay for 100 Mbit/s Up and Down. Download speed is close to that, but the download speed is less than 30% of that. Get the same results without worrying if I am connected via Wi - Fi (AirPort Extreme ac Tower) or Mac mini (end 2012) is directly connected via an Ethernet cable. Same results on Mac, iPhone and iPad, too.

Here is some of the best. When a friend connected PC via Ethernet Dell midrange, he got 95 Mbps the two top and bottom. Same connection, even cable.

Is there something on the hardware Apple or Apple by default network settings, which would explain this? Everything that can be done?

Puzzled indeed! Not sure, at this point, why the PC is the only device not affected.

I suggest that we start with the performance of your local network and then to go to the WAN - LAN interface with your AirPort base station.

I use WiFiPerf from the App Store. There are versions for OS X and iOS. It's a little expensive, but there should be alternatives based on iPerf. It works on a client/server relationship and did a great job to measure flow rates of data on wireless networks.

As an alternative, I would also suggest TamoSoft flow Test. It will test the wired and wireless connections. It's free, but they do not have a version of iOS, so you'll need another Mac or PC to make it work properly.

No matter what you use, you will want to run the client on your Mac mini and supported the server on another device. Then create measures of your current network. For example, if your mini is connected to the base station via Ethernet and other Mac, also connected by Ethernet, you should see close reading of 1 Gbps for TCP with little or no errors. Similarly, you must take measures for Wi - Fi. You shouldn't get something close to that.

If both measures are closer to what you want with your network, we know is not your local network, that is the question and we would move to the router-modem interface.

  • Internet provider DOWNLOAD speed vs Airport Extreme

    Hello

I had download speeds slow on my Airport Extreme for ipad, iPhone and imac.

I have a modem connected via Ethernet cable to an ac Airport Extreme 802.11 Optimum.

Ran to the application of speed test on my ipad II (within 5 feet of the airport).

The results showed that the download is only 2.12mbps and upload is 24.97mbps. I pay for the 50mbps service.

I tried the same thing by using a new iPhone SE and timed to 22,93 download and upload to 23.95. A little better but still not enough good.

I contacted Optimum and they ran a couple of tests showing that my modem is online, signals are ideal, there is no loss of data to the modem and there is no failure in the region.

They recommended connect a laptop directly to the router and without going through the airport. Will try it tonight to see the results.

Assuming that the connection of the cable between the modem and the laptop is fast, what I can do to improve the speed of the WiFi?

There is something to put in place at the airport? I guess there will be a reduction in speed between wired devices and WiFi but not this bad. What is the maximum number of devices (iphones, ipads or imacs) airport can support? I have at least 6 or more WiFi sharing schemes and wonder if this is the problem.

    Thank you

    Bob

Please read using the Diagnostics wireless for you help to solve the problems of Wi-Fi on your Mac - Apple Support.

What is the maximum number of devices (iphones, ipads or imacs) airport can support?

Apple recommends 50. I got that three dozen sharing an Apple base station AirPort simultaneously with no noticeable performance degradation.

The factor limiting the bandwidth will be the most restrictive of what follows, in no particular order:

    • your ISP
    • your local wireless environment, including other interference and competing wireless networks
    • the performance of the client machine
    • out of your control network conditions

Your AEBS will not limit the bandwidth, but if you have reason to believe that it is, a "hard reset" is the only possible troubleshooting step. On rare occasions, an internal parameter becomes corrupted and this is the only way to fix it. By 'rare', I mean "almost never" and the last thing you should consider, after rule out all other possible causes of poor wireless performance.

  • How to quickly get 100 + photos from iPhone in pictures on iMac with the download speed very low broadband?

    Hi all

I have an iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 9.3.1 and a retina iMac running OSX El Capitan 10.1.4.  I use iCloud photo library and I like the idea of having all the pictures synced across all devices.  This works well for one or two odd photos I take here and there.

I have just been on vacation and taken 100 + photos with my iPhone and want to create an album of photo printed on my iMac, but the problem I am facing is that it takes so long to get the pictures on pictures on my iMac.

My download speed high speed is very low - on 0.3Mbit / s, so the photos are always download to iCloud from my iPhone now, and I guess it will be another day or two to complete.

Is it possible to get the photos from my iPhone to the iMac more quickly without creating duplicates or spoil my library?

It's so frustrating to have to wait 5 days after her return from vacation before you can start making a photo album.

    Thanks for any help,

    Kind regards

    Ben

You can connect the phone with USB and import or use iTunes sync or Capture of Image - this can cause a problem with duplicates

And of course, you can stop by a store StarBucks, Apple (or other WiFi hotspot with good service) and complete quickly

  • Updated from Apple x download speed

I tried to update my iPhone a month 6 this morning (because iTunes told me that it was a new version of the iOS).  I chose to download and I got an estimate of 38 minutes.  After about 15 minutes, I was up to about half of the remaining files and 21 minutes left.  I am away from my computer (Mac Mini, OS, iTunes, etc.) and I got a message that the download could not be not done, no reason why.  I restarted the download and got an estimate of 17 hours to download.  I started the download anyway and is now to show that it is actually downloaded (increase in MB) download, but the estimate of the remaining time is now in more than 22 hours and goes upward instead of down.  Also noticed that although there is a download past (from any site) my Wired Apple mouse scrolling works only in the way down, using any application, not only of Safari.  After a download is complete, he returned to normal.  BTW, there are no other devices not connected to the internet, with the exception of a Mac Mini AND I live in the country where there is no 'interference' from other devices, there are very few people on my ISP connection speed issue exists only when downloading updates on Apple's site (streams Netflix etc. fine and speedtest shows more than 10 Mbps.  What is going on?

The Internet is also called the World Wide Web for a reason. Each intersection where web threads meet is a major Internet connection where traffic can build up and slow down your download. Or a web wire could break causing the Internet redirect download packages around this break. In other words when your Internet slows down it just didn't say where the slowdown is or what is the cause. Maybe that it's Apple, maybe it's an Exchange along the way. The wire coming from your House or apartment is perhaps the problem.

All I know is, like you, sometimes my downloads are fast and other times they are not.

  • Download speeds slow r7000

only achieved after 8 months that my router R7000 has always close 3-5 mbps download speed when my ISP gave me 75mbps download.

I got the scoop from farm last updated and the customer service suggested me to use the channel '11' to 'Auto '. Tried, but for the first few minutes is good, but in no time it sinks again 3-5 Mbps download speed, I noticed that my upload speed is relatively higher.

    One had the same problem?

Noticed a forum about this problem but no solution in my opinion.

If you haven't already, I would reset the router to the default values and without making all the other configurations to connect to the Internet without wifi, etc.. Now, let's see how fast you have with a computer connected to the Ethernet port. If it's good, then add your configuration in one thing at a time and test again. This should help you that the configuration option that causes the slowdown.

  • N300 Wireless Router WNR2000v4 slow download speeds

    Hello

I have Time Warner Cable and pay for 50mps download speed. When it is connected directly to the Modem I get better than 50mps download. When I run through the router wireless using wireless or wired connections download speed slows down slot 10mps. Please guide me on how I can change that. These tests of the mine where done with only 1 x computer on the network.

    Bob

Hi @cssva3 you have the latest firmware installed on your router?

If this is not the case, see this link on how to upgrade the firmware.

After the update of the firmware, reset the router by pressing the reset for 20 seconds button.

Once done, reconfigure the router to get Internet connection.

  • Slow download speeds Q180

Just got my setup Q180 last night. It is connected to my wireless N. Note that, while I watch YouTube videos is often missing from buffer. Has decided to perform a speed test www.speedtest.net. The results show .65mb speed and 6.5 MB speed. My service should be 20 MB down and 10 MB upwards. So high speed seems just, but download speed is TERRIBLE, he turns to 2% what it should be. I ran the test of speed, even using my laptop in the same place and reached 18mbps down and 6.5 upwards.

It is a limitation of the Q180, or is there something wrong or a setting I need to solve this problem? Honestly, this thing is pretty useless to me without a better download speed, after all, pretty much the only reason why I did it was to do things from the internet on my TV in the living room.

    Thank you

    Josh
