  You must use the same method to load the members that you already use in EPMA, if it's a pure Essbase applications and metadata should be loaded for EPMA and not through the Regional service.

• Question about compression in essbase ASO

  I have a few questions about to define a dimension of compression in Essbase ASO apps:-

  1. is it a good idea to have the size of compressor in app Essbase ASO.

  2. I read somewhere that said it would not be good idea to have the compression period dimension where months YTD neighbourhoods and quarters of the year. So should we put compression on any other dimension dynamic calc and roll ups and have less none of level 0 members stored.

  3. I have observed that when we level 0 export from an ASO application with compressed size vs ASO application with no compressed dimension, there is a difference in size of data export file. I'm not able to understand why it is so. I understand the difference between the size of data (.dat file) between Tablet app vs app uncompressed file, but do not understand the difference when the data is exported to a .txt file.

  (1) compression dimension is not mandatory, but it contributes to the performance. The compression dimension is a dynamic dimension. We need the column headers in a data load file. Ideal compression is achieved if the number of leaf-level members are divisible by 16.

  (2) ASO tuning is an art as much as a science.  The best choice depends on the distribution of data in the database.  and it's different in each database.  Read all the information and then test the various options.  Try it with time as the compression and then try with the next best dynamic dimension defined as dimension of compression.  I've linked a doc tuning which is version 7, but has a very detailed discussion of the dimensions of compression.

  (3) the format of the header (layout) of the export may be different when you use compression vs when you are not using compression.  It will certainly be different if you use another dimension for compression.  I expect the size of the file to edit when the compression setting is changed.

• Automate the calculation against Essbase ASO through the calculation Manager

  Hi all

  Anyone know if I can automate the calculation stored in calculation on a cube Essbase ASO Manager?

  I need calculation automated directly against an Essbase cube as it is not a planning application.

  I tried to use CalcMgrCmdLineLauncher.cmd , but it seems not to be able to find the application. I'm assuming that she tries to locate a planning instead of an application of Essbase application.

  Currently I have a number of calculation parameters in the calculation Manager but I would like to automate the process, as well as on a daily basis, the cube is rebuild and recalculated.

  Any ideas if CalcMgrCmdLineLauncher.cmd should work or if there is another method, in addition to my calculations in MaxL.

  What version? If it's so 11.1.2.3 for Essbase you use a launcher separated in % EPM_ORACLE_HOME%\common\calcmgr\11.1.2.0\lib, calcmgrCmdLine.jar file if it is an earlier version and then probably will need to use MaxL

• Essbase ASO 9.3 to 11.1.2.3

  My system has been improved to 9.3 to 11.1.2.3. Now I have a bunch of ASO databases that need to be upgraded. Is simple copy the apps from the server version 9 on the server of version 11 and then the upgrade via the EAS? I read the section upgrade of Essbase in installation guide and config tasks. However, I wonder about ASO contours and aggregations and if something needs to be done, but a simple copy on. I don't speak of Shared Services or anything else, just the apps Essbase and dbs and so simply copy the applications through is enough or not and if there are additional tasks that must be done after copy if cela the correct route.

• Calculations of the rate of aggregation in essbase ASO SEEP cubes

  The question (limitation to ASO) we tried to find a solution/workaround. ON PBCS (Cloud)
  

  Details of the application:

  
  Application: type of ASO in cloud Oracle planning 11.1.2.3 (PBCS) application

  
  Dimension : Total 8 dimensions. Account to the dynamic hierarchy. Remaining 7 dimensional hierarchies Stored value. Only 2 dimensions have about 5000 members and others are relatively small and flat hierarchies.

  Description of the question of the requirement: We have a lot of calculations in the sketch that use amount = units * rates type of logic. The obligation is such that these calculation logic should apply only to the intersections of Level0 and then data resulted must roll up (down) to the respective parents across all dimensions. But when apply us this hierarchical logic / formula calculation to ASO, the logic(i.e.,amount=units*rate) of calculation is applied at all levels (not only the leaf level) of remaining dimensions. Here, rates are also numbers derived using the formula MDX.

  Some of the options explored so far:
  Option1: This is an expected behavior in ASO as all stored hierarcies are calculated first, then the dynamic hierarchies. So we tried to change the formula for each of the calculated members to explicitly summarize data at parent levels using algorithm as shown below.

  IF (Leaf Level combination)
  amount = units * rate
  Else / * for all levels parents * /.
  Use the function sum adding up the amounts between the children of the current members of dimension1, dimension2 and so on.
  End

  Result: Recovery works through the parents for a dimension. When the summary level members are selected in 2 or more dimensions, the recovery freezes.

  Option2: Change the type of hierarchy to group all the dimensions to "Dynamic" so that they calc after account (i.e. after amount = units * rate runs at intersections Level0).

  Result: Same as option 1. Although the aggregation works through one or 2 dimensions, it freezes when the summary level members are from many dimensions.

  Option3: ASO use custom Calc.
  We created a custom calc by fixing the POV Level0 members of any size and with the amount of formul = units * rate.

  Result: Calc never ends because the rate used is a dynamic calc with formula MDX (which is needed to roll forward rates for a specified period at all the following exercises).

  Your best bet is to use the allocation of the ASO, what difference does make. (one ton)

  There are a few messages blog out there that can help you meet this goal. (including mine), the trick is to create a member calculated with a NONEMPTYMEMBER in the formula

  Then it will be a member with an inside MDX formula

  NONEMPTYMEMBER units, rates

  Units * rates

  Now, make a copy of data (allocation) of this member-to-Member stored.

• Error using ESSCMDQ with Essbase ASO unicode applications...

  I tried to restructure an ASO for a unicode application outline... and I get this error:

  Contour encoded UTF-8 file is not allowed to read in a non-Unicode client mode

  so try to use the command

  Openotl '2' 1 'App_Name' 'DB_Name' 'DB_Name' 'y' 'y' 1;

  I tried to put the command in a signed file UTF8, but still have the question.

  Is it possible to use this utility (ESSCMDQ) on request for ASO to restructure the sketch?

  Is there another way to make outlines of a request for ASO restructuring?

  Try "when running ESSCMDQ against a Unicode ASO plan, the following error and cannot continue:"file encoded in UTF - 8 pattern is not allowed to read non-Unicode-mode client"(Doc ID 1502120.1).

  Solution

  1. an environment variable must be set:

  In the environment where ESSCMDQ runs, the value of the environment variable "ESSCMDQ_UTF8MODE" and make sure it is equal to 1:

  ESSCMDQ_UTF8MODE = 1

  2. Once you have verified that it is located in the environment for the user/cmd line used to run ESSCMDQ, run ESSCMDQ again. It should now be able to compact this sketch ASO Unicode.

• Formula Member Essbase ASO (the order of resolution)

  Hello everyone,

  I was hoping to get some opinions on how they would handle a calc question I have.  I built a cube ASO (my first) for the loan on the housing data. A few fields I'm loading are a "Eff Int rate" and "Rate Eff Trans" (below) which are then used to calculate the 'interests Inc. or Exp' and 'transfer Inc. or Exp.

  The challenge I'll have and don't know how to manage in essbase is in what regards running sums.  I have a dimension labeled "Loan account" with about 15,000 members of individual accounts. For all the accounts of members, it works fine however when it gets to the cumulative of the 'loan account' it calculates incorrectly because of the aggregation.  To test, I tried isolating the different ways to make this work with my current solution (as seen in the above Calc) is to reset just the update rollup for now.  However, the ultimate goal would be to have this dimension of 'Loan account' always aggregate the information accurately.  Here's an example to help explain in more detail:

  

  For example, if I were to use the size of the attribute "Loan officer" and then drill at the low level of the 'loan account' it would recover 4 accounts and then those subtotal as stated above.

  I hope someone is able to give me some ideas or outline.  If this isn't the case, I can just try to accomplish in SQL before load my data.

  Bret, I think what you see is a fundamental limitation of ASO.  Stored hierarchies are ALWAYS grouped together in front of a member formulas.  The only real workaround in Essbase is to use a procedural calc of the ASO - this would actually save results to the cube as input data that can then be wound the stored size.

• Essbase ASO partial clear

  We are currently testing the version of Essbase lates, I understand that it allows you to partially erase a database of ASO (using an MDX script)
  Can someone tell me:
  (1) granular how is this clear? For example, I have 3 dimensions that I would use my clear (entity, scenario - eg 900, FY12, real and time)
  What the MDX script would look like?
  
  (2) can I run from the Regional service module as an administrator? Or should it be started another way?

  Yes the maxL statement can be executed from EAS. Go to file-> editors-> MaxL Exitor and the maxl statement here.
  95121 gave you a general syntax to erase. IF you delete a single intersection as you initially describe (I think it was 900, FY12, real, you do not need the cross join but a simple tuple.) If you want to erase three sets of members, that is to say 900 and 950, actual and budget, FY12 and FY13, you would need two cross joins.

  It becomes easier with a simple cross join if it's a game and two real individual that is 900 and 950, members and FY13 who would look like

  Yes, you restore the app folder and there all subfolders and data files (.dat file) you need to do the restore

• Access to several cubes Essbase ASO through a single cube

  I have 10 cubes ASO and each cube contains data of one day (one day contains lines of facts about 30 million). Is there a feature in Essbase that combines all these cubes ((like a virtual cube)? Or can we do this task using the BI server. If we are unable to combine these cube then what is the best method I could use to query all 10 cubes at a time?

  It sounds like you could have 10 cubes ASO partitioned seamlessly to a cube of target (OSB?) users could connect you to receive the combined data. It makes life easier if they are all the same size. The target would have every day and each source cube could be partitioned by day.

• Essbase ASO Dimbuild error

  I need help again once, I do a build size of three dimensions on a v11.1.2.1 and I get an error.
  It is a global storage cube, first steps that I do is, I unlock all objects, reset the cube to erase data, and then clear the aggregates.
  I then disable connections to the cube and then start building size, here is the file of waiting with errors:

  When I search the error code 1007083 and 1090004, and I see something related to the opening of a file:

  Essbase error 1007083 - Dimension construction failed. There are many possible causes (for example, memory allocation problem). Check the server log file to locate the error that caused the failure.
  
  
  I checked the Essbase server log, and I see nothing useful.
  
  Can someone tell me what could be the problem, if you have seen these errors before?

  If you specify the file from the server, it is looking for it in the database directory. If she is not there, then you want to use local file and specify the path. Remember that the path is based on where the MaxL is executed. If you run the maxL on your local machine, it is looking for files on your local computer. If you run it from the server, then it looks like the server for files.

• Sorting of columns when my data source is a Cube ASO of essbase

  I need to sort columns of information OBIEE how, because OBIEE is sort by alphabetical order. We have sucesfully reach to order the columns when the data source is a cube of essbase block storage but does not work for a cube storage global essbase (ASO)

  I don't think that your type of Cube will make a differenct in sorting. Default with Essbase OBIEE sorts columns alphabetically.

  The best way is to create a logical column with a logic that mimics the normal sort and use this logical column in the RPD "column sort order.

  For example if you need to sort the months while I was doing was to write a CASE statement and assigned to some of these months as they will be in ascending order and I used this column in the column logic month 'Sort order' present in the properties of the column.

  Months when "jan" then 100 when February then when 101 mar then 102... When end of December then 110 112 else
