H310 and r720

I have a r720 with h310 controller.  I have a MX3P7 of cable attached to the motherboard and backplane.  I tried several disks (DELL) and none of them do not appear in the BIOS of the controller.  The server sees the card, but the controller does not see the disks.  The system recognizes when records are inserted or removed (I get a bright orange with a warning that a car has been removed when I remove one).

I would be very grateful for any ideas on what I might get hurt.  Thank you!

Sorry for the delay of Shane.

That's right, the H310 for the R720 is mono Mini (number K09CJ). The HV52W seems to be the desktop version.

  • PERC H310 H710p migration

    Hello

I'm not an expert in RAID configurations but I am in charge of server Dell T320 my company and we will replace the storage controller that comes with it (H310) with a PERC H710p. We have a configured RAID-1 and we will continue to use the two disks of same after migration. We will replace the controllers.

I know I have to do a backup before you replace the Exchange, but we will lose the RAID-1 configuration and data (including the operating system) after migration? Or it will be transparent to the system after reboot?

Where can I find a type of paper that could guide me through this process because I don't want to wreck anything.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Jorge

    Hello.

It is advisable to back up your data before performing any maintenance task. Ensure that you have a backup is valid data. The PERC H710 P supports the migration of virtual disk controller PERC H310. As a best practice, make sure that the hard drives and firmware H710 P is up to date. Replace the H310 and update the H710 P firmware with the controller cables disconnected from the background. Stop the server and connect the cables of the controller in the background and then restart.

Your RAID configuration can be transparent to the system or appear in a foreign configuration. Clear the foreign configuration through the utility OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) or Ctrl + R for the POST.

I would like to know how it works for you.

  • 12G (r.620, R720) - how to clear logs?

    Hi all

As part of r.620 and R720 server sizing, I try to erase the various system logs, so that the provisioned client will get a clear slate. I'm trying to do that programmaticaly (via racadm).

    So:

    racadm clrsel - works fine.

racadm clrraclog - complains that this command is deprecated with 12G. That's fair enough, but I can't for the life of me find the replacement, the method sanctioned to clear log CARS. How do I do that?

racadm lclog - none AUTOMAGIC to clear. Now I understand that life cycle is intended to be for life, but here I am creating a new life cycle - there must be a way to clear the log of CA when I reactivate an old box?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hey Doron,

The option SystemErase is not supported on systems of 12G.

There is no option to remove the LC logs unless you run the LCWipe method on the iDRAC.

This resets the iDRAC to the factory settings and delete all settings iDRAC, including network settings and you need to reconfigure the iDRAC locally. This can be done in F2 > iDRAC parameters.

There are two ways to perform some LCwipe:

    (a) execute the LCWipe method using the winrm provided more earlier of windows OS.

OR run the command wsmancli of linux OS below.

    wsman invoke - a 'LCWipe' http://schemas.dmtf.org/wbem/wscim/1/cim-schema/2/root/dcim/DCIM_LCService?SystemCreationClassName= 'DCIM_ComputerSystem', CreationClassName = "DCIM_LCService", "DCIM:ComputerSystem", Name = SystemName = "DCIM:LCService' h [iDRAC ip] 443 u [username] [password] Pei Pei - ch y basic v - v model

    (b) you can also do this in the life cycle of the controller by pressing F10 POST. You'll find a default Config clear and reset option under hardware Config. Then the controller across the life cycle. The system turn off to do this and you have to manually turn it on again.

  • Referred to Dell r.620 and H710P PERC - backplane cable?

    Read this thread:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/906/p/19471857/20339141.aspx

We ordered PERC H710P customer mini kit (342-3536-PCVT5) and 2 x 800 GB Solid State Drive SATA value MLC 3Gbps 2.5 in. (342-5821) for our r.620 (which previously only had the on-board controller S110). Can someone help me identify the part number for the cable necessary? Looking around without success.

    Hello

As you initially had the S110 and it only supports the background configuration of the 4 HARD drive backplane I'll assume that it is the bottom of basket you have. If this is the case then the part number for the cable you need is:

    WVF6J

This is the background cable basket for a PERC 4 HDD backplane SAS A connection mini. It works with all mini girl PERC cards in the r.620; who are the H310 and H710 (p).

Normal sales agents in general have not access to sell these parts. In general they cannot sell the new components that are designated by a 7-digit reference number in this format 111-1111. Our spare parts department is who you must contact to buy spare parts 5 figures.

    http://www.Dell.com/support/contents/us/en/04/article/contact-information/sales/sales-phone-numbers

800 357-3355 is the number listed for them. Be sure to reference the contact page in the future as long as the number can change. It will be not updated in this post, but it will be updated on the contact page.

  • Impossible to install new Windows 7-64 on T3600

We have a new T3600 of bare metal only supplied with a Free-DOS disk (no DELL drivers CD) and you try to install Windows 7-64.

The machine has two integrated SAS no RAID disk drives. No PERC card in the system.

After booting from the W7 DVD, we arrive at the point of installation "install drivers" and are the drivers from the site of support on a USB, but nothing works.

    I tried

    and

There are drivers for the cards SAS H310 and H710 but I think you said that you did not have one of these cards installed.

I see a Pre-os iRSTe SAS 32-bit of Windows 7 and Vista separately driver in the list, 64-bit not mentioned.

And then below that, there is a Pre-os driver Win7 32 and 64 bits for the controller Intel C600 UCS. Maybe this is the rub. It is possible that you may need to install the C600 driver and then click the Refresh button to view the volumes.

    downloads.dell.com/.../RSTe_f6_iaStorS_64_ZPE.exe

And based on the name of the driver I would bet this is the one you need.

I would like to give a try to this one (unless it's one you already have).

  • Synchronize the PowerEdge T320 SATA 3GBPs single speed

Hi, I have a week old T320 with controller RAID H310 delivered with 2 x 1 TB SATA disks replaceable hot (s.3 - Reference Dell Constellation: 0T4XXN, Seagate ST100NM0033).

The sync rate max - as stated in the BIOS H310 and the lifecycle of the controller is 3Gbps. The RAID H310 map is a map of 6 GB/s that came out in recent years and are these disks SATA 6 GB/s (according to the data sheet of the Seagate)

I talked to Dell 'support', and they said that they had no speed specified in the documentation of the disc, so they did not know (!).

Dell is still actually delivered 3GBPs readers - i.e. special gradient firmware?

They suggested that I talk to sales to change the drives I - but what for? SAS would be an expensive option for sure and if 'support' don't know the specs of their own parties what is sales are going to do.

    Any ideas?

For anyone interested, I was correct - Dell hinder their SATA 6GBPs drives up to 3GBPS, and have done since 2009. Apparently, it's a deliberate policy, as they had problems with some servers at the time using specifications SATA III-, but its silly to keep this policy more than 5 years later.

If no server generation 12 - e.g. T320 - don't comes with disks SATA 6GBPs despite the fact that the 'same' exact drive model bought because say OEM Seagate s.3 works thankfully to 6 Gbps. Dell simply artificially degraded performance in their firmware.

With gen 13 servers there is now a * choice * SATA speed - but why?, why same still power SATA II drives to a new server? -at least I know now what is the question.

  • T320 Server Enterprise HARD drive options?

I recently bought a T320 which I will incorporate a home server, to perform a variety of roles (Media Server, file / print etc.)

It is pretty basic and has the controller RAID H310 and 8 3.5 "hot-swap bays.

I would like to put together a reasonably robust RAID 5 array in the thing, using readers (4 TB) SATA decent sizes that will not have the RAID controller that is suitable.

My thought was something like 4000 HGST Ultrastar 7 K readers (model HVS724040ALA640 or HVS724040ALE640 - what is the difference between these?) or something similar.

Not interested in paying exorbitant prices Dell wants to their compatible readers, so I was wondering if people have suggestions for business readers that are certified to work in the box? HGST readers mentioned above are expected to be certified to work with the T320s, but a real experience/advice would be useful...

Note: This is not a critical production company and will be saved regularly (in a case of HP Microserver), so guaranteed Dell etc. is not critical for us.

Would appreciate some tips consumers more aware of these things...

Do not buy Dell Dell drives. Buy them from dealers (xbyte, serversupply, etc.)-even by car, half the price (or better).

WD has certified the RE4 on most of the controllers from Dell. If readers who are not certified by Dell or the manufacturer, then just stay away energy-saving, desktop/laptop or NAS drives (I.e. WD red, green, etc.).

In addition, using non-certified Dell discs don't no nullity of the Security server. Dell will not usually be solve storage issues if you have any non-certified records, but other problems are still fully covered.

  • R710 HDD upgrade (maximum size).

    Hello

I need to upgrade the disks in my R710. Currently, I have SATA 6x1TB.

In the documentation , I found max supported disk size is 2 TB.

Then I found this NOTE from the ADMIN: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell disk > compatible with R710 3TO.

What information is true that both come from Dell website?

    I use H310.

    Thank you!

When the R710 was released, 2 TB was the largest supported and 3 TB were not common. Added support for the first update of the firmware > 2 TB disks on the H700 controller. The PERC 6 has a maximum limit of 2 TB per physical disk. So, to answer your question, both are met: 2 TB is the limit, if you use the PERC 6 (or SAS 6 controllers or S series) and 3 TB is supported on the H-series controllers.

The H310 will support larger than 2 TB disks, but it is not supported on the R710. It can work, but the H200 was designed to be used in the R710, not the H310, and it will also support > to 2 drives with the latest firmware.

  • Installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 on Poweredge R820, where the hell are the drivers preinstall?

I created a VD to install windows server 08. Readers are attached by the Bay before port hot swap, connected through SAS. Currently, it says that it can't find not all hard drives, I'm sure I need drivers preinstallation of the raid controller for the operating system to detect the drive but I can't find these drivers anywhere on the page list of the driver on http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/poweredge-r820

Anyone know where I can get the drivers? I checked the page twice and I can't find something that even alluded to preinstall drivers.

What RAID SAS controller do you have?

This will cover the H310 and H710 (using the "hard drive" version, run to extract before putting on optical/USB) - found under SAS-RAID/driver:

You can also use the deployment/installation embedded utility which can help to install an operating system, that includes drivers - F10 during POST.

  • RAC0503 and RAC0501 with T620 and H310

I have a T620 with a PERC H310 linked at the bottom of basket.

In the iDrac when I go to the store, I get the following error:

RAC0501: There is no physical disks to display. 1. check if the host system is powered off or stop. 2. check if the physical disks are inserted inside or attached to the bottom of basket. 3. There is no out-of-band capable controller detected.

Also when I go to the physical disk, virtual disk or controller I get

RAC0503: There is no out-of-band capable controller to display. Check if the host system is off tension or stop.

I tried to reset the drac with the command and power off, always get the same.

    is this normal

    Thank you

I managed to solve this problem with my server. I got the server disconnected from the supply for 20 minutes, but when reconnecting, the question remains.

I then did a reset of the iDRAC since the tasks of quick launch on the presentation page, made a power, reconnected and the storage section was working.

  • PowerEdge R720 and PERC H710

For the life of me, I can't the controller to detect the physical disks. These are Dell brand discs. Any specific ideas of the BIOS settings, maybe I need to change?

The box has been initially implemented RAID 10 on the S110 raid, but I removed that and tried with the software raid times off and on and still no luck.

Don't see anything that would indicate a firmware issue, but:

    H710 PERC v21.0.2 - 0001

    BIOS v1.2.6

    Thank you!

If you have not changed the cable then this is the problem. The willing S110 to a different connector than the PERC.

In the diagram #24 is the S110 connector you are currently using. #22 is the PERC connector, you need to use now. Here are the part numbers for the cable:

If you have the 2.5 "HDD backplane - MJCP4

If you have the 3.5 "HDD backplane - MX3P7

  • R320 and H310 support for Dell / Seagate 3to SAS with SED?

    Hello

I'm playing with a R320 as a test bench (we have a few)

I seem to have a problem with a Dell Enterprise Plus badge Seagate Constellation ES.2 SED

Reference Dell part No 07GR 25 / Seagate model ST33000652SS

I seem to be able to set up as a virtual drive, but when I go to it's OpenManage, I can't drill down to the physical drive info, it all comes with an empty picture frame.

This also occurs if I try to go to the virtual, even if drive info another virtual disk, which is not to sit on the ES.2, shows the fine info

Given the firmware available for the ES.2 on R320 support page, I'm assuming that (I know..) it should work fine with the H310

Also, if I try to run the update of the firmware (version RSFE) I get an error "This update Package is not compatible with the configuration of your system"

It is a bench test 2012r2 data center, but found the Standard as well.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

    Thank you

    Hello

SED support is not a feature of the controller H310. You need a H710 or H710P if you want to use SEDs. If you search for "encryption" in the user guide you will find the section that lists the time controllers that support of the SEDs:

  • R720 can I connect drive sas/sata hard without controller card?

I have a r720 without raid card.  When I plug a ssd or disc of 15 k / 10 k sas on the hotswap backplane, chassis recognizes the drive is connected (I get an orange light and lcd to alert that the disc is removed when I go out).  However, the bios and the operating system does not recognize any disks hotswap (they see only the optical drive connected to the ports on the motherboard sata.

Do I need a controller card to use drives connected on the backplane, or is it possible to use backplane without controller card?  I didn't need raid functionality.

    Thanks in advance.

    -shane

    Hello Shane

    ntshane
Do I need a controller card to use drives connected on the backplane, or is it possible to use backplane without controller card?  I didn't need raid functionality.

Yes, you must have a controller connected to the bottom of basket. If you have purchased the system without a RAID controller should have a SAS cable that goes from the backplane to the slot of controller S110 chipset on the system board.

You can use the S110 SATA controller on board for communication with backplane. Well, there are limits to the S110 controller, so may not suit your needs. You can probably buy LSI 9207 if you want readers to run in a non-RAID. The other options are a H710 PERC; which you can set the readers to the single drive RAID 0 s. In this State, they function as drives no RAID. You can also get a H310. The H310 supports the RAID mode, but we have added a few features to the H310 who do not find in previous versions of the card. In doing so, it reduced performance when operating in a mode non-RAID.

The reason why I say that you'll probably want another controller than the S110 is because you mentioned that you have SAS disks. The S110 is a single SATA controller. In addition, the S110 is supported up to 4 discs.

To access the BIOS RAID make sure the S110 is turned on in THE system BIOS. In the BIOS, go to SATA settings. In the menu choose the RAID mode. It will turn on the S110 controller. You can configure the drives in the BIOS S110 when booting with the CTL R. I do not know what operating system, you perform the installation, but the S110 is compatible with Windows.

    Please I need help

    Abu-Said,

It seems that the issue may be that the raid driver is not loaded. How you try to load the operating system, starting at the press of 2008?

According to the controller, you'll have different driver files. If you have the H310, H710 or H710p then this is the driver you'll need - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r720?driverId=M20VR&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3160710291&languageCode=en&categoryId=SF

If you try to load the operating system via the regulator of the lifecycle of F10, then this is the file you will need - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r720?driverId=FF29M&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3325054588&languageCode=EN&categoryId=DD

Let me know if it helps.
