H9-1245eo: update of inauthentic HP support assistant?

There are about two hours that I was just browsing by chance youtube, one flashed black control top box to the left of my screen. Quickly, I open my task manager and saw that my cpu was used by an unknown program. The program isn't there anymore so I don't remember exactly what his name was, but I vaguely remember having the word "windows" in it, but also a form of the word "restoration" or maybe another word that was similar to it. Everything went pretty fast.

I happened to have my office to the top at the moment, and coincidentally, I noticed that right now my office was being changed somehow. At this point, I have a dialog box in the lower right corner of my screen of the hp support assistant telling me to restart the computer and asking me if I want to do it now or if I want to do later. Assistant support on my tray icon had now changed color to a light shade of blue. As I looked closely at my desktop icons, I noticed that the icon hp support assistant had changed to a light shade of blue there as well. By clicking on one of the icons some results in the dialog box opening upward again. Looks like HP support assistant had installed an update on my computer without prior guest or indication he did so beforehand. Is this normal? Is - this as well updates from HP support assistant are supposed to work? Nothing like that's never happened before.

I got a little worried, so I scanned my computer with malwarebytes and Eset nod32 antivirus, but none of them gave no results. I'm just being paranoid here, or is there something dubious going? For more information, HP support assistant is listed as having been installed today when looking at more in the sections "Add/Remove Programs", echoing 69.7 MB. I also noticed that there is a restore point created at the time of installation which confirms that the restore point would the following program: "HP support assistant 8.1.40.3.

Here is a picture of new icons, as well as the dialog box that appears when you click on it (it's in Swedish):

@GreenMario3000

It seems that your HP Support Assistant updated itself the previous 6.x / 7.x version to the newer format HPSA 8.x

With this new configuration of the HPSA program, you earn a few troubleshooting information - and you lose the ease of development in the older HP Support Assistant that so many people have used over the years.

Why the tune-up's?

No idea - HP does not consult with me on politics internal.  The smile.

    Hello

I was updating some drivers through HP Support Assistant, and BIOS update got stuck as shown on the picture below. I was hoping that someone will be able to direct me what to do next. I'm afraid the computer restart or stop the installation.

If I stop and install an update of the Bios from another somewhre, that will maybe bad installation?

    Thanks in advance,

    Miloš

    Hello

    You are welcome

The flash would have occurred at the start, so that this didn't happen, your existing bios revision will not have been affected.

My personal opinion would be not updated the bios unless the update fixes a problem that you are experiencing or adds additional functionality you need - if the machine is running Ok, there really is no need to update.

Note:  I see in your screenshot that your current bios revision is F.1A - there are 2 dream later listed for your laptop.  The HP Bios updates are cumulative, so if you don't want to update, the latest version will contain all the corrections/improvements offered by previous versions - the last enumerated revision is here.

  • Unable to do the updates recommended by HP Support Assistant

I use HP Pavilion m6 with Win7. HP Support Assistant says that there is an important update for Intel My WiFi and wireless drivers for MS Windows 7, which consists of a 206,14 MB file. I downloaded this 3 times now, but it will apparently not be complete the process since the notification back. I get a message that says that the wireless lan and bluetooth are not connected, but Device Manager indicates that they are working properly. What gives?

Hello. I ran into the same problem tonight with several downloads showing that they need to be updated. Whenever I tried to download, it would get stuck on the part of the installation process. Finally, I raised the 'Check for HP updates now' and all of the alerts went off, showing that everything was up-to-date. Not really sure what happened or why...

I first noticed the alerts after having my internet cable and the phone turned back today. I just thought this bc I just got a pop up for my computer need to reboot for updates... I've been reporter restart for a few days and that might have something to do with it also, but that caused no problems in the past.

In any case, I hope this helps you or someone else. Have a good night and God bless!

  • Pavilion 15-e092ea: does not not after installing updates from HP HP Support Assistant

I was warned of three updates two days before and went to install them before moving on to Windows 10.

I was warned that several reboots may be required.

Several reboots produced, but now, I find that whenever I try to launch tune it just tells me that a restart is required. This must happen at least 10 times.

I can't get further and assume that the software has stopped working properly.

Thanks, your solution was my instinct, but I just wanted to check if there was an another known issue with the latest updates.

I uninstalled the support assistant as suggested and downloaded the latest version.

    Everything works fine.

  • Audio stops working after updates thanks to HP Support Assistant

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6033, running Windows 7, and whenever an audio update is offered by the wizard for help, I'm sorry I let it install.  Car audio no longer works after the update is installed.  Usually, I just run the system restore, date back to before the audio update and give everything EXCEPT the audio update.  But this time, when it happened, I find that system restore is not restore the audio.

I went into the Device Manager and uninstalled the IDT High Definition Audio Codec, rebooted and let it reinstall.  Still no sound.  I downloaded for the next sp55094.exe here:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-101114-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en... >

Once again, I have uninstalled the Codec IDT and chose to remove it.  Then I installed the file that I had downloaded.  Restarted at the end.  Still no sound.

Does anyone have any suggestions? My volume control is about 50% and neither helmet nor the work of computer speakers.

    Thank you!

go to control panel of configuration/sounds and make sure on the tab devices play the idt are the default device. Click the configuration button by default down to establish it.

  • HP and HP Support Assistant update

Is it necessary to have and use the updated HP and HP Support Assistant?  HP Support Assistant does not have everything HP Update done more more? It seems that HP Support Assistant was created to replace HP Update.

    Hello:

    I agree with you.

The support assistant is a program that includes the search for updates and other features such as air upward, etc..

I see no need for both (in fact, I see no need of either).

I mean this... I would like to change the default value of the assistant to support the definition and automatically download and install updates. I read where this thing was running updates the BIOS in the background while people were working on their PC with antivirus running programs, etc., than to have bad things happen.

If you like the support Wizard, my recommendation is to change the setting to warn and let me choose which updates to install - or what is the closest option to the default.

  • Product name: HP Pavilion 17 N: HP Support Assistant > HP updates > update BIOS (AMD processors) - clear update reminder?

    Hello

I got a recommended set the HP Support Assistant program to update update for HP Notebook System BIOS (AMD processors).  I installed the update to the BIOS but the HP Support Assistant still says I need to run the BIOS update.  So I ended that run the BIOS update 2 times more but it prompt update with the exclaimation point in the promgram HP Support Assistant to delay the update of the BIOS is always there to want me to install the BIOS update.

How can I clear this reminder of update of the HP Support Assistant program?

    You are welcome!

    1. If machine BIOS update after downloading, it will automatically start the system and show you the whole process and progress.

2 just by downloading the BIOS update does not update. However no Expert here don't advise update BIOS to do as a routine, including through HPSA.

If an UPDATE of the BIOS damage your laptop computer, you will not be able to turn on the machine - in short - it'll be no more than an expensive paper weight.

3 If the BIOS has been updated successfully, then you go and not be able to on & do your work in portable as usual.

  • PC HP TS laptop: HP Support Assistant

I don't know if it's his fault, but after I did some automatic Windows Update my sound buttons and the sound no longer works. I then decided to try the audio driver updates that I had turned off in the support area assistant, this is where the real problem started. After that everything to do with function keys and her broken so I did a system restore to which the result was me not being able to log in. I would like to know if it is a virus or if it is an unknown problem with HP.

    Hi @Adam-Williamson.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

It's a great place to find answers and advice!

You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the HP Forums.

Learn how to post and more

I understand that you upgraded to Windows 10 and after a Windows update, you lost your sound. Then, you installed the audio updates recommended the HP Support Assistant that you had been turned off. So you lost your sound, and the function keys did not work.  You then tried a system restore, but now you can not log on to Windows.

I suggest that if you have a Windows 10 image recovery that you use to perform a recovery.  If you do not then a clean install of Windows 10. Here is the link to get Windows 10, click on "use of the media creation tool" and click "perform a new installation using a USB or DVD"

Please let me know the results.

  • HP Support Assistant does not work in Windows 8.1

After the 8.1 update widows 8, HP support Assistant has stopped working.  I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, and nothing changes.  I checked that all the drivers are up to date.

It's going to be an HP update, if so how long will they take?

Unfortunately Sanctioner if they don't work, I don't have any other solutions.

It seems to be a compatibility issue, and you will have to wait until a version is available on your download page. HP seems out 8.1 software for your computer as it becomes available.

  • BIOS and HP Support Assistant?

I am a little appalled and would like to know what is happening with the updated Bios and HP Support Assistant.  To visit this forum, I came to the conclusion that we should NOT allow the HPSA download and install the updates to the Bios.  Is this true and if so, what do you do to solve this problem?  Unfortunately, I learned that this HPSA AFTER put to update my Bios to a version that is not listed for my laptop.  Unfortunately, not a not inform me on what I should do after it has happened.  Should I try and "exploded" my Bios?  Or leave?  I appreciate all help.  I now f.2bs and according to the download site for my model number, I use f.0Une.  My laptop is a Pavilion DV6T-7000 Quad Edition A5F76AV.

Problem solved.  I decided my BIOS of backflash called for on site support (drivers and downloads).  Everything is fine and it even fixed some Diagnostics UEFI.  After seeing things, I found that HPSA does not have a very good job of distinquishing your operating system.  In my case, whenever HPSA tells me an update of the BIOS, it applies generally to 8 Windwos.  I am running Windows 7.  Meh.

    Hello

    Try the following

Firstly, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant using Microsoft 'Fixit' at the following link: this is particularly useful for correcting problems that may prevent resettlement on the machines running a 64 bit OS.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

When this has completed, restart the computer.

Then download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant of the page on the link below - the download links are to the bottom of the page.

DB, I suggest to reinstall the update of:era.  Looks like he had a little problem during the update.  Frankly, I like to get my own updates by using MS Update and the sites of the manufacturers.  In this way, I know with certainty that I do not wish to install something that will come back to haunt me later; as a bad update of the BIOS.
