HA and power outages

I'm on a four building campus (building A, B, C and D). Each building has its own dedicated power of electricity, so if power failure in building C, building A, B and D still have power. I intend to Vsphere application on both hosts. HOST A will lie in building A and host B will reside in the B building. The two armies will connect to an iSCSI SAN to building A (I know... potential problem). Ultimately, all virtual machines running on the two hosts should be able to run on the same host, if the other loses power.

HOST A iSCSI SAN and Vcenter (running on a virtual host A machine) connected to the ups (~ 15-20 minutes duration on battery) in building A

The HOST B connected to an inverter (~ 20 minutes duration on battery) in the B building

If I lose the power of building A, how HA will know at startup if the UPS is keeping the power in A HOST? You're supposed to run one instance of Vcenter on all hosts to protect against power outages? Even though I have Vcenter on a physical machine in A building, he dies at the time wherever the UPS runs out. It seems to me HA is really designed for a failure of the host only and no power cuts. Come to think of it, the SAN will also go that leaves the HOST B Building B useless.

So, I guess I answered my own question. HA is not designed for power outages. Laughing out loud! I can give me points?

I understand that update more with you.  What I said initially on VC not having does not need to stay online is important to keep in mind.  If you can get 2 independent circuits who would not tend to descend at the same time, so you can connect two power supplies in the hosts and the SAN in the two circuits so nothing falls down when a single circuit fails.

If you are looking for redundancy, when a whole building goes down you still do replication of VM data with SAN functionality or software.

Many iSCSI SAN support good replication and so would put another instance of iSCSI SAN in the second site, and configure replication.  There is a VMware called VMware Disaster Recovery option that could automate the failover in this case.

Software products are available to perform the replication also:

  • Power outage caused all the catalogs and folders to disappear, LR3.4

Running LR 3.4 on a PC with Vista 32 bit when there was a power outage in the region. I turned off the 'power' to the PC.

When the current was restored I rebooted the PC and LR and all the catalogs, folders and the files are all gone

and LR wants to begin importing as it has just been installed. The last time the lrcat has been saved was June 20.

I was wondering if there is a more lrcat to hidden somewhere in the PC because it works well or is there other

way to recover my last two days work and restore to the point just before the blackout?

Enjoy any suggestions before I get back since June 20 upwards.

Well, a side note here: you did not change anything.  You see, LR at startup, it creates a .lock file.  You had LR running, then deleted a .lock file, which was for the _currently_running_LR_, not the missing catalog file.

    First thing I would do would be to do a complete search for any file ending with LRCAT.  Yes, as mentioned, you can find the location of the currently selected catalog by looking in the catalog settings, but he won't tell you that you have opened a bad.  :}

So first, find all files ending in LRCAT.  So try them, one at a time, by double-clicking on them. If it's not her, out, double click on post then a.

    Good luck!

Often, a power failure will result in the corruption of the hard drive that can prevent your computer from starting properly.  Often, simply perform a 'chkdsk' with the /f or/r (chkdsk C: f) option on the hard drive will fix the problem.  Given that your machine does not start, you must run Chkdsk from the Recovery Console or start your machine from a CD for example bootable BartPE or Ultimate Boot CD for Windows and perform the chkdsk operation

  • My new S2440L face the problem of power outage

I have just purchase S2440L to replace my old S2340L. With S2340L, I have never have any problem of power outage but when I plug my new S2440L, it was goes black for a few seconds. The problem was random 10 minutes to 40 minutes. These two monitor was same HDMI cable (and work fine on my SmartTV too), PC same and even graphic card driver. I try to reinstall a fresh driver but still a problem. Is - it could be hardware related? Perhaps S2440L have a hardware problem or a S2440L need a more specific HDMI cable? Now I have any problem with my S2440L. the blackout has been occur when overheating circuit behind the monitor. I was watching about about on the HDMI port of overheating by googling and found that HDMI can fail if the (amplifier HDMI) circuit was overheated (I'm not have overheating issue on my old S2340L (rev.) A00). i sure as S2440L (mine is rev. A01) have material problem on HDMI and circuit surprise (lower part of the monitor) have very high temperatures. I hope you, Dell will be it is your responsibility that your monitor, S2440L have an overheating problem / high temperature and could be a HDMI port blackout curtains. It's bad for me avoid this problem by using the VGA port.

    Thank you, ChozeriZes.

    Christ

I just touch the border smaller surface compared to the top edge, it is very hot.

maybe only my S2440L have this problem...

Today, I remove my VGA card and the power cord, and reinstall the whole again, the problem in black often seem to not like it before summer. It's just a couple of times for that day.

Actually I feel fine with this monitor, both design and image, but still nervous about high temperature, it's may be the major problem in the long term.

Maybe I was too early to conclude everything... HDMI is a very sensitive matter, as I said in a previous comment, then I have some tests for my S2440L

-overclock grid power my VGA card around 2% and delete some fan of my system.

-find the new place for the power adapter avoid the heat. (I found this use of monitor LG IPS 1. 3a adapter 19V is perhaps)

Note: I use 750W Seasonic and power supply of 5V and 12V is pretty good (5.1V and 12.05V).

OK, now I need to close this thread as solved and and report this problem like power supply problem; in major relate.

"on monitor blackout curtains when use the HDMI port occurs when power on unstable system will also be able to rack in the House, heat and cable must use HDMI1.4 full spec for sure (if HDMI cable does not include with the package).

  • power cord and power cuts

Hello.  I have a Pavilion dv7-3171nr, Windows 7.  It's a laptop.  In the last few days, I noticed some strange things that I've finally pinned down for my power cord.  I've been hear a sound like a bug zapper.  Not as loud, very weak, that's why it took me so long to locate where the devil noise came from.  When I hear the noise, it caused small power outages in the lamp which is located in the room in which I work.  Then, of course, at first I think it is the lamp, or the light bulb, our electric system... Anyway yesterday I finally put the finger on it at the exit of that my power cord is plugged.  When I unplugged it, all of these symptoms have disappeared.  At that moment, I realized that it was plugged in all the other times also in all other rooms, I was in when all this was going on.  Everyone knows about this problem with a power cord?  I had a lot of laptops over the years and this is a first for me!

    Good decision.

  • How to remove the front rear of the Tecra S1 PT831A to check cable and power?

    Hello

I need to "check the cables and power," following the Seatools for test back and start-up message 'failure to support, check cable PXE - E61'. I also have a message for the CHKDSK using the XP Pro CD, saying after 26% that "the volumn appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems".

Remove all screws B6 or what else - to remove the back cover for "check cable"?

Startup by default, without failure, then to BSOD Mode screen whatever the choice is taken, the BSOD is too short a period to read the message, and there is no option in the choice of Safe Mode to disable "Restart in case of failure".

I removed and reinserted the RAM and HARD drive without change to issue.

    Hello

Each laptop has in the list of all bootable devices BIOS. If none of them can be used the last of them, LAN port, is checked, and then you'll see this message PXE - E61.
If the problem may be your HARD drive.

First check HARD drive. Enter the BIOS and set it to default settings. Restart the laptop and check if the HARD drive is recognized and registered properly in the BIOS settings. If so he has no problem with connectors.

I recommend get you the new HARD drive for testing purposes. Put the new HARD drive and try to install the OS by using the original Toshiba recovery disc.
