    Hi all

    I'm doing some tests on a Windows 2008 (64-bit) R2 two-node failover Cluster.

Attached is the log of the OFS Cluster Dump (no error in my opinion).

I surfed around but I can't find anything to solve the problem.

I think something about the language of the (Italian) OS and Oracle NLS settings (AMERICAN. AMERICA), but obviolsly I'm not sure about this.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion,

I do an upgrade of the host, but I noticed a few /warning alarm in vSphere client: Configuration problem: vSphere HA initiates failover of virtual machine action in cluster2 in xxx data center, but there is no virtual machines on this host. I moved all virtual machines to different hosts. This error will not go away. Please notify

  • Unexpected events of the virtualized Windows Cluster Failover?

I'm running into a problem where I see the unexpected events of failover on a cluster failover of Server 2008 running on four hosts ESXi 4.1.  ESXi hosts themselves are not grouped.  Each ESXi host running a single Server 2008 VM.  Each virtual machine has the latest version of VMware tools installed.

The problem is that, once every two days or more, one of the nodes in the Windows cluster release out of the cluster without apparent reason, which triggered a failover event.  So far we have not identified any root cause in any component of our infrastructure (eg. network switches etc.).  The VM guest that always falls out of the cluster during these unexpected failovers joined the cluster after a few minutes or more.  In the event of failure, the virtual machine that injects seems quite good other than the event of failure of the cluster (for example, the virtual machine does not drop even pings).  In addition, it is always a different VM that we see this problem with, it is not always the same.

Any ideas on what could cause this problem?  The thesis that we have currently is that there could be some problems with the cluster questions missed by Windows during the card NETWORK active/active configuration that we have on the vSwitches on the back-end.  We plan to change that active/passive.  VMware's recommendations one way or another?

I already read the article below as well as VMware MSCS on vSphere 4.1 guide, but none of them seem to deal specifically with underlying vSwitch configuration.  Any input on that?  Ideas on the thing we should look at?  Thanks for the help!

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1002890

    Ahh, so that's another problem.

In the guide 4.1 MSCS, 'section, vSphere MSCS Setup Limitations limitation', he States:

With native multipathing (NMP), clustering is not taken in charge when the strategy of path is set to round robin.

  • Problem of cluster Failover MS after physical RDM conversion to VMDK

    Hello

Last week I had to migrate 7 x 2-nodes virtual MS Failover clusters to a new data center. All clusters have been configured with the configuration of the cabin and all shared disks were in physical RDM mode.

The target data center does not RDM disks so I had to convert all RDM disks VMDK files and use config before the migration of the IPC.

I used vmkfstools to convert VMDK eagdrzeroedthick RDM files.

5 clusters have been migrated successfully, but two cluster got strange question even if the procedure for all groups was the same.

So in two groups, I have a problem where the second node in the cluster can not put online some of the shared disks. The first nodes in the clusters have no problem with the disks/SSP.

But when I try to failover of all services, the second node may not bring online disc 1 or 2 shared, even if she can put the other shared disks online.

VMKernel.log is not errors or warnings. I checked the configuration of virtual machines and everything seems OK.

Any ideas what I could check?

Just in case anyone else is facing the same problem.

I could not find the root cause of the problem, even if it's without a doubt the conversion that triggered the problem. However, we found quite a simple solution - added new shared VMDK files, copied the files over and replaced the defective discs.

  • DRS & HA cluster vm actions aware?

    Hello

In fact, we do a cluster design and decide to implement part on VM.

The cluster will be active HA and DRS and consists of 3 ESX (2.5up3 VC) and ESX 3.5up3.

However, if the HA the current ability to failover cluster is 0 (3 members use 80-90% of the resource of the RAM for example) and the ESX which perform actions large VM (the RAM) crashes, what will happen?

I have disable CAC HA on the Cluster, but so much VM RAM booking, the other 2 ESX will force the lower proportion of VM to swap to free up RAM co-location for the largest reserve of VM to share? Or much VM does not start because ESX can offer a reservation RAM?

    Thanks in advance.

exactly - it's true for memory and CPU

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

    Tom

    Update:

Was certainly the java version showing a very old 1.4.  The configuration error was in my windows PATH variable env, which contained a very old version of java related to a former Oracle BI installation I've had.

The fix was to remove all references to this former location of java in the path variable.  Once this has happened, I was able to shoot to the top of sqlcl immediately without problem.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions of Jeff.  No doubt the eureka moment I needed to sort.

Now to start your fun with this new tool!

    Thank you

  • Retrieve message to ESXi host Summary tab "Configuration issues."

Using VMware Perl SDK API, how to get the message of 'Problems of Configuration' tab summary ESXi host?

For example, I have an ESXi host disconnected from the cluster, and in the summary for this host tab, there 'Problems of Configuration' message "disconnected from esxi_hostname in esx_clustername." "Reason: expired license."

Is it possible to recover the message above through Perl SDK API? The host is already disconnected from the cluster, not sure if this is possible.

Yes, you can take a look at the configIssue (http://vijava.sourceforge.net/vSphereAPIDoc/ver5/ReferenceGuide/vim.ManagedEntity.html#configIssue) for the object HostSystem connecting to vCenter, i.e. When this information appears. It contains a table of configuration problems and it is exposed in the API, which means that it can be accessed by using one of our SDKs including the vSphere SDK Perl

    Hello

the problem is the host name of the server is resolved is on the 10.X.X.X network.
For example, the cluster requires the public network to be on this network. And the error you get, because this network is on DHCP.

If you have the following options that you can try:
a.) change the server to have the host name to resolve to the 192.X network
    (b) change the order of the network adapters
(c.) remove the network 10.X.X.X at the moment of installation

    Hi all

I'll try to keep this long history of strategies to solve problem as brief as possible. MBP mid 2010 Yosemite running started glitching around Christmas (CPU, memory and requiring hard reboot followed by a freezing kernel panic) and I began research on what might be wrong. Makes backups (clone SuperDuper and TM BU). Make a disk bootable for El Capitan. Tried the usual suspects... check disk, disk repair, SMC reset, reset the NVRAM, etc.. Problem persisted. I tried clean of El Capitan and utility disk installation failed to go back and take down? disc after erasing. Bought a new SSD. SSD formatted and installed several times and several times there no shortly after or during the installation of El Capitan (gray screen with "no symbol" indicating no OS). Replacement internal SATA cable - that did the trick with the original hard disk installed with a clean install of El Capitan. Kept new SSD in attachment and clone of Yosemite BU SuperDuper copied on it (as she has MS Office - I have the product key). Can start from and access all of the SSD connected via USB, but some of the original problems (high CPU and memory) remained. In recovery mode, I have reset the directories for all users and administrator. I have improved the SSD to El Capitan and the problems continued. Console reads the questions with the lsd, mdworker, WindowServer and iconservicesagent (mostly). Tried to fix the permissions and cleaning of the caches using Onyx, which did fix some problems related to printers permissions. Need help, know where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you in advance,

    Pascal

Kernel panics are most often due to problems of RAM.  But given that you've been through so many troubleshooting steps, it is difficult to know where things went wrong.

For one thing, there is no clean install.  If you mean you erase and installed and persist in obtaining the kernel panics, he stresses more clearly material being the issue.  And since you have the Mac 2010, you will need the original installer disks to perform a test of expanded material.   If you have done this, the test reveals any problems, then you clearly have a RAM problem.   See my FAQ * about bad RAM:

Otherwise, any error you get from the material testing, should be examined by an authorized technician.

  • WRT310N configuration issue

I am trying to set up a network at home via my WRT310N router N Wireless, but have a somewhat convoluted Setup, go home. More specifically, I have a Verizon Actiontec modem/router combo, G who is serving more than one PC Wired has provided, as well as some wireless clients. I would like to connect the WRT310N the ActionTec router and have a Wireless N dedicated va that can also access the internet, but also a handful of wireline customers. Two routers are connected wan wan port port.

However, I don't know how to set up the "Internet IP" of the WRT310N so that both routers to communicate between them. If I put a static IP address which is identical to the IP of the router, I get a warning indicating that the internet IP and router IPS are on the same subnet and is not kosher (which I guess makes sense). Define the Internet IP to DHCP function results in no IP being pulled from the Actiontec router (presumably for the same reasons)

Is anyway to configure the router behaves more like an access point?

Worked like a charm. Thank you!
