half-duplex configuration 9871
I am trying to configure a NI 9871 4 ports 485 series add-on half-duplex communication with non-echo. My problem is that I can not understand how to select the transmitter/receiver mode. Table 3 of the manual (http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/372277e.pdf) shows four different modes, but it's a mystery to me how to set the mode. The module is currently in mode 4-wire where the receiver is still active (if I connect the lines TX & RX, I recover what I send.) I would like to be in car 2-wire mode. Can someone point me in the right direction?
BTW: I use a cRIO-9075 mode of scanning and using Labview 2012 SP1 (windows), in the case where that matters.
Thank you.
Hi Tomherron,
If you use the Scan Mode you can set the Mode of the transceiver using a VISA property node. The process would be:
(1) place a property node VISA on the block diagram of your application.
"" 2) click on the property node and select: Select property "parameters set" thread Mode. This will allow you to set or get the wiring for a particular port mode. In addition, allows you to have different modes of thread for different ports.
(3) right-click and select any change in writing.
"(4) the method of wire with the right button and select Create ' constant.
(5) to choose what transceiver mode you want to use, click on the constant.
RS-485/2-EchoDTR and RS-485/2-Auto options. Those who are what you are looking for?
Kind regards

CanI set programmatically PXI-8431 half duplex ports (two sons)?
Hello
I use an NI PXI-8431/8 RS485 card for half duplex comms. I use configuration of the serial port baud rate usual VISA, etc., but I also want to set the port to two sons, no handshake.
Currently I can do this from Windows, using the Device Manager, but it depends on someone who knows and not to forget to do. I want to automate so that it still occupies my entry into force, without worrying about who used it do.
Can anyone suggest how I can achieve this?
Thank you
Malcolm
Hi Malcolm,
You can set the thread mode and the type of control (handshaking) flow in LabVIEW using nodes of property.
The article in the link below shows how to do this at the end to set the thread mode. If you duplicate the property node, you can choose Flow Control as property instead of the thread Mode.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi need some help on this router cisco 1921 complete, auto &; half duplex
We have this old 1841 router series and we change in 1921, I still put the same settings, but this two-sided thing is having problem (I think).
We are supposedly to have 20mbps up & download speed using this 1841, and if we use 1921 20down / 10upload speed.
When I put gi0/1 on full-duplex it will descend to the bottom. But if I set auto duplex, it register under the/s and half-duplex and the internet works but only 10 Mbps upload. See below
igabitEthernet0/1 is up, line protocol is up

It is very likely that the provider has configured its device for 100 Mbps, which was compatible with the interface of your FE 1841. If you configure the 1921 at a fixed speed of 100 Mbps and full-duplex, it should probably work.

Configure the network adapter speed / bandwidth management
Hi all
In VMware ESX 4, it is possible to configure the speed of vmnic with a speed of diferent? I can do 10, 100, 1000 or full / half-duplex (photos attached) but... is possible to configure the speed of 4 MB, 40 MB or something different?
For bandwidth management, the best solution is the new Cisco device?
Thank you very much.
N ° negotiated between the physical NETWORK adapter and the physical switchport speed can be 10/100/1000. Just like in the physical world...
But you can do some of the traffic shaping based on your configuration... On a vSwitch standard you can control the evacuation traffic. On a distributed vSwitch, you control evacuation AND penetration.

New AirPort Extreme and 802.11ac configuration
Greetings,
I'll install a new new AirPort Extreme instead of my old Time Capsule gen1.
Like many people here, I have a combination of features b/g, n and ca. I want to make sure my end of 2013 iMac connects optimally via ac. It is in the line of fire of the new router in 25', so it should be in a good location, if all goes well.
My question is if I have to just put up an SSID and let devices their own switching group; or experienced here people recommend a SSID separated for the strip of the 5 GHz for ac and n devices?
Thank you!
Dave
Start with normal default values.
That is to say the band permutation is left to the Mac and SSID is the same on both bands.
If you then find that the Mac makes the wrong choice... a real possibility. And it's important for you... Then assign the SSID on 5 GHz a different name.
217Mbps is expected to reach a speed at 2.4 ghz and which probably exceeds the speed of your internet with a margin far... (you need at least 2 x the speed of wireless internet to follow, IE if internet is 100 Mbps Wireless should be 200 Mbit/s at least because of half duplex wireless nature). If you have several items that some should be forced to 5 GHz, which can control...

Dear team,
one of my vmnic shows me 100 half duplex if I put the same Auto negotiate, to 100 FUL harcode to 100FULL forcefully then it shows vmnic 100 FULL duplex. Can u please help me what is the problem
Concerning
MrVMware
A possible reason is that the switch port is on hard full duplex, this will make your esxi to half when using auto mode.

AirPlay - aTV video, sound effects for AExpress: does not work with large files
Hello!
My setup
- Internett--> modem (Cisco?) --> a/c Airport Extreme (latest high version)
- iMac, iPad, 2 x iPhones. iMac installed Beamer.
- Bedroom: AppleTV 3rd GEN rev A - hdmi--> LG TV (old). AirPlay ON, 'Apple TV room '. Connected to the local network of 5 GHz.
- Bedroom: AirportExpress 1st GEN 802.11 a/b/g N-Draft (last type of those that go right into the socket) with AirPlay - stereo--> stereo BOSE. AirPlay ON, 'room '. Connected to the local network of 5 GHz I also tried to connect 2.4 GHz network, no significant variation...
- Living room: AppleTV 4th Gen. - hdmi--> LG TV (new). AirPlay ON, "iTV."
Problem (abridged version)
Most of the time - but not every time - when I stream video + audio iMac to aTV and choose to listen to the audio portion of the aTV to a separate AExpress (which is connected to a better BOSE audio system), the movie will not play. Streaming both audio and video - and only - the aTV works perfectly, but then I have bad sound, since I use the TV's internal speakers. What is reasons for it? Tips to fix it?
Problem (full version)
Every time when I stream video and audio from large multimedia files (about 3-4 GB .mkv) of the iMac (Beamer) on the ATV to the room, I didn't encounter any problem. Buffering is fast (2-4) and there is no delay or other negative experience. Unfortunately, as with all flat TVs, the sound of the TV is poor. Since I have a BOSE sound system, placed around this TV, I like to use it for audio. As I do this is - after the streaming media file (Beamer) iMac to the bedroom aTV - pressing the Center "Select" button during 1 sec on the remote to display the "audio" preferences and select money "Chamber" (AExpress related to the BOSE sound system). In this way, I think that audio + video is streamed to the iMac on the ATV in the bedroom, and the sound is then broadcast the ATV to the AExpress. This is where the problem occurs. Sometimes it works very well, as today in the morning. No lag and everything works fine. But most of the time, after changing the preference "audio" in the sound stream for the BOSE, the beginning of the play symbol buffering becomes the symbol of the break and nothing happens. I hit play again and the symbol of the game / buffering symbol lights up for a few seconds, and then again to pause. She never starts.
The problem usually occurs with heavy multimedia files / large size 1080 p and 3-4 GB, not with the simplest 720 p files weighing about 1 to 2 GB. This makes me think it's a matter of WiFi capability. But if my WiFi network should not be able to manage that? I think that the apple TV in the bedroom and the AExpress uses the N standard, so it is the limiting factor. But if this interface should not be able to handle the traffic? Is it true that do what I do - separate the video and audio - use twice the network traffic?
I also want to mention that everything works perfectly at certain times, like this morning. Last night (12 h) it wouldn't work at all... Perhaps there are more traffic yesterday (Saturday) evening.
Questions (summarizes all Qs in text and some new)
- My network be able to handle the traffic encountered at the stream video + audio iMac to mountain BIKING in the room and streaming audio of ATV to AExpress at the same time?
- It is true that this configuration requires / use twice the network resources?
- Do you also think that my problem is caused by a network limited issue / the amount of data PR. second?
- I have a new (flat unit with power cord separate) Airport Express. This device manage more traffic and thus possibly resolve my problem?
- Other suggestions to solve my problem?
Sorry for long post, but I think that its better with much info little. Have a great Sunday =)
I think I can explain the reason for the problem... but I have little experience with sound problems... so you will need to figure out a work around.
The nature of wireless networks, it's to manage the stream very well... but they are much less good at the sensitive time of things like multimedia transmission continuously. In fact, if you want to stream multimedia content over wireless, it is preferable to use specialized units... no wifi. I have a 3D projector and home theater system that uses a special wireless link from Epson to the projector... It is amazing that it can handle the required data of 3D projection. It does so by using 60GHz or some these extremely high FREQ... and totally dedicated units... no wifi. In the end, we ran an HDMI cable in the wall... it was largest wireless but not could be started reliably. Wireless is simply not ready for the big time of streaming video high definition even when dedicated.
Wireless network adapter... It is wifi, can handle only one connection at a time and it time slices between clients. It's also half-duplex, so it can only send or receive... it can't do both at the same time.
On the other hand, modern interrrupteurs ethernet can stream to multiple devices at the same time. It can also handle send them and receive at the same time... That is to say in full duplex. This is why the networks ethernet much more suitable for media streaming wireless never can be.
As soon as you try to use double flow... even if it is audio (low bandwidth) and a video (broadband), you will cause huge delays to the video component. The video stream has literally if stop to give the time to the audio to catch up... you can immediately see where this will lead. Low resolution, it might work... but at high resolution, there is bandwidth inadequate considering the Division of time.
It would be much better to use the audio on the TV. Or check if the TV itself has audio output... that plug into the standard analog audio system RCA or it could even have out optical. Who will then provide a means by which the flow must not be split. My samsung smart TV offers you both.
The other solution probably won't be viable... execution of ethernet.

Read only the SPI using the box USB-8451
I am using the NI USB-8451 box to read the SPI of a Honeywell digital pressure transducer data. The difficulty comes from that part of Honeywell uses only the SPI in half-duplex mode, meaning that it only transmits data, but does not require anything beyond the appropriate chip select signal and SCLK to start transmitting its 32-bit sensor data. To facilitate experimentation with the sensor, I bought a USB-8451 SPI Interface thinking I could easily configure the 8451 to read data from the sensor.
However, if I understand the situation, there is a problem. The 8451 considers full duplex data, i.e. a data word must first be sent to the SPI device in question before the unit will start to transmit back data of its own. And since the MOSI data writing periods, since this particular device starts transmitting immediately once a clock is applied, synchronizing the unused address data will cause the unit will return its data before the 8451 begins listening for data in return. The call used by the 8451 to write read action can be divided into the individual reading and actions of writing of any kind that I could discover.
Can someone tell me if I missed something in this operation or if there is some quick tips, that I could use to be able to use the 8451 therefor? Thank you!
Doug G.
Exactly correct. It's nice when things are easier than expected. Hope it works as easy as it sounds.

Connection RS-485 for the climate control ESPEC Chamber
Hi all
I'm having some difficulties of implementation and the RS485 connection with ESPEC climate control room.
It is a room of climate ARL-0680. The climate Chamber has two connectors male DB9 on the outside, apparently used to connect several rooms to RS - 485.
The pinout of the connector RS485 DB9 real is:
1: Data Transmission SD + (A) connected
2: SD-Transmission data (B) connected
3: data reception RD + (A) connected
4: data RD-reception (B) connected
5: GND mass connected
6: GND mass connected
7: NC (not connected) not connected
8: NC (not connected) not connected
9: NC (not connected) not connected
I bought a cable interface OR USB-485. This cable also has a DB9 Male interface but the pinout is different.
1: GND
2: CTS + (HSI)
3: RTS + (HSO)
4: RXD +.
5: RXD -.
6: CTS-(HSI) -
7: RTS-(SSA) -
8: TXD +.
9: TXD -.
-The list of the pins do not match and I see names of different signals on both interfaces.
Am I right assuming that I should only make the following connections:
USB485 NOR to the climate Chamber ESPEC
1 5, 6
2 not connected
3 not connected
4 3
5 4
6 not connected
7 not connected
8 1
9 2
Is there some special things I need to do in SW for this configuration to work? I'm using LabVIEW as my programming language to try to control the climate Chamber.
I especially do not know how I need to put in place the transmitter/receiver mode for all either works...
ESPEC documentation, I found that the communication system used is 'synchronized Modulation (four sons, half duplex).
Thank you 1 million for all of your helpful comments!
K.
You connected Rx to Rx and Tx of Tx.
You must connect Tx Rx and Tx Rx. In this way, you create a four-wire interface. Also, you must set your Board of Directors (MAXIMUM) 4-wire.
To make it perfect, you should also connect a 120 Ohm resistor at each end of the balanced line. So in total 4 resistors.
If you want I can draw you a picture to replace these (1 k) words.

connection intermittent cRIO (with MAX, etc.)
Our cRIO connects to our fine PC when it is initialized at first - and you can view it fine in MAX, Manager of distributed system and its web interface. But after all 3-5 minutes it always loses connection. It remains disconnected, and only restart the cRIO restores the connection but only for another 3-5 minutes. Only MAX restart does not help. We can ping the cRIO ok when 'disconnected' - which, to me, implies that it is a problem of higher level software.
We had this particular cRIO work fine before.
Thanks for your suggestions... While not in a rush to do this, I really want to understand why the connection is intermittent
Here are some details:
- MAX version 5.0.0f1
- LV2011 DS2
- cRIO is a 9022 (no screws running on it to the commissioning, CPU minimum load - idle = 97%)
- computer development is a Vista Home Premium 32 bit
- connected together using the brand-new Cat5E cable
- TCP/IP settings on the laptop - Static IP, IP 192.168.2.4 address, mask 255.255.255.0
- TCP/IP settings on cRIO - Static IP, the IP 192.168.2.1, mask 255.255.255.0 (gateway and DNS are blank or 0.0.0.0)
- cRIO set to use for the link speed autonegotiation (no option to change this) and detection of packets = "interrupt".
- PC value link autonegotiation speed, but has no effect on the problem, if it is set on a fixed, low speed for example. Half-Duplex 10 Mbps
- PC Firewall is configured to allow the port 3580, and actually disable the firewall altogether change the problem
Had the chance to try again with my intermittent connection to cRIO, and here's what I found:
- Connection through a switch, rather than directly with crossover cable - made no difference, still kept disconnecting after 3-4 minutes
- With no other network on my laptop other than the LAN - no difference development
- cRIO with APP No. dip switch select IT - no difference
- cRIO with game of dip-switch SAFE MODE - this time it is remained connected, but this mode is not very useful as a solution
Then I was reinstalling the software cRIO as suggested - it did not complete the first time, but second attempt was beautiful and connection is now very stable (and has not abandoned in the last 30 minutes).
Here are the instructions to reinstall (just in case useful for others):
- In the measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), access remote systems | cRIO | Software
- Click on the "Add/Remove software", and an installation wizard will appear
- With currently installed version of the selected software - "then click to reinstall the software currently installed.
- Follow the rest of the instructions, and it should take about 4-5 minutes
Thanks for your help

Well, as evidenced by my increase in the issue positions (vs answer my other posts), I get down to the wire trying to get a new operating system. I'm controlling a Hitachi L300P inverter (motor controller), via its RS485 link. I have, at the end of the computer, a usb to RS485 adapter, and the race to the L300P made by a short, twisted pair (60 feet max) runs (the controller is configured for "Half duplex, two sons"). When I send a message to the unit I get no response, the purpose, or a message ACK or NAK. I tested my port by connecting a second and "talking to myself", performed the L300P self back loop, which is to unplug the external connection and do manual things through its programming before Panel and have, while the cable was disconnected tested its continuity. This morning I intend on executing the second long twisted of the location of the computer for controllers and make one end to end test to confirm I can talk down the wires. I'm sure that my chain of command is correct, but do think the device is supposed to send an ACK or NAK if it "sees" something coming.
If there is anyone who has had experience with these discs, either through LabVIEW or not, I would be grateful hearing on their part. Also all other paths to solve this are appreciated. I'm more tired, mentally and physically, and another set of "eyes" looking at the problem will probably help.
Well, to help anyone with similar problems, I'll say what I found. As mentioned in previous posts, I had ran 150' cable out to the fine disc and connected to the other end of the cable comm existing on the disc, the near end of another adapter USB-RS485 (Easysync ES-U-3001-M). When it worked, I thought it turned out that the problem is not hardware but whatever my software (doubtful, the sent string implementation match the example in the manual) or a problem of disk configuration. While I was talking to 'Sam' to Hitachi, I found that once I sent the order message I received a returned "ACK" message. Hmmm! ?? Well, the USB adapter, I, designed to be used as RE232, 422 or 485, has a number of configuration inside bars, which allow the addition of 750 ohms pullups and pulldowns and 120 ohm termination resistors to some signals. I activated the and "Bam!" the reader begins to see and responding to my messages. Apparently, the cards have a more sensitive front end that are matched to the car, or at least (reasonable) to communicate successfully more than ~ 300 feet of twisted out of the box configuration, pair but the necessary drive configuration changes. Still have a big headache (a real one) and I now talk to other Hitachi drive, which uses Modbus rather than the simple protocol of this player.
Thanks again for the support, it can feel pretty lonely here with you people!

DirectX is not found and can not be installed due to an internal error?
There is no version of directx on my computer whenever I run dxdiag. Whenever I try to install the latest version of Directx configuration DX of Microsoft, it gives me an error and States in order to check the dxlog. I did almost everything on the internet that has been said, I deleted my records which have dirtied DirectX, I also downloaded registry fixers who have not helped at all, none so far can help me solve this problem. Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.
Method 1:
Download the DirectX from the Microsoft Web site and then try to install it on the system. Click on the link below.
Use DirectX Runtimes (August 2009)
Method 2:
I suggest you try a SFC scan. Follow the steps to perform a scan of the SFC.
1. click on the Start button
2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories
3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option
4. in the menu that appears, click on the option "Run as Administrator"
5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked permission before the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.
6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow , and then press enter
7. a message will appear stating that "the system of scanning will start"
8. be patient because the analysis may take some time
9. If all the files need replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your XP CD for this process to continue
10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.
11. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.
For more details, see the article mentioned below.

I am using Microsoft Windows XP Professional, version 2002, Service Pack 3.
I recently reinstalled my operating system on my Dell Dimension 2400 PC and allowed for automatic updates. Previously I did not allow updates. I use very slow dial-up on a BCM 56 k
Voice/Fax/Modem. My previous connection was about 26 Kbps.
During updates of Windows XP, Microsoft notified me of the update following software:
(Broadcom Corporation - Modems - BCM. v92 56 k Modem, size: 2.8 MB, Broadcom Corporation modem software update published on August 27, 2003.) only the Microsoft Update downloaded and installed on my PC.
After the installation of update BCM, my modem went much more quickly in about 40 Kbps, however, I lost the Unimodem half-duplex audio driver configuration.
After the automatic BCM update, my modem sounds is the audio connection as he had done before.
I checked and the following driver files still exist where they belong: [C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ks.sys; C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\MODEMCSA.sys; C:\Windows\system32\ksproxy.AX; C:\Windows\system32\kuser.dll], however registration is missing in browser, under 'Sound, video and game controllers' Device Manager where it was previously before the upgrade.
How can I reinstall my audio Unimodem half duplex driver without roll back my BCM upgrade?
My audio driver is not my problem. The speaker still works in my Modem when I have dial-up. Otherwise, the rest of my sound works fine, so I don't think I need an audio driver. What's missing on my upgrade was my driver for unimodem half duplex, and everything remained the same after the upgrade.
Here's what's happening. Often, I reinstall my OS together by formatting my hard drive. After the initial installation and install the drivers for Dell provided, my modem works fine, but at a slower speed. When I switched I hear the dial through my external speakers, which I prefer because I have restriction of hearing Audio and can hear it better amplified by the modem speaker.
When I install the update to windows BCM, it accelerates the rate of transfer of my modem, I like, but it removes my driver audio unimodem half duplex, which means I can hear is no longer my dial-up connection to know everything is going well. The sound comes directly to my modem card, however, due to the location under my desk, my PC I can barely hear the connection is established and can not use this sound for diagnostic purposes if I can't connect. It allows to hear the connection to remind me in case the line is disconnected or the phone company disconnects and provides their voicemail automated on how to restore our service.
I just want to still hear my modem amplified through my external speakers without losing speed BPS who provided me the upgrade.
Not yet tried to use the dell service tag for Dell drivers. Don't know how to specify this tag, or if it would provide other drivers that I already downloaded, but will check the next.
In the meantime if anyone has a useful answer as to how I can get my external returning without sacrificing my BPS speed increase, I would like to hear it.
Thanks for all the answers everyone, even if for the time being not useful yet.
I don't think that it is half-duplex driver Unimode (even if I'm wrong). My XP3 box has a Unimodem full-duplex audio driver "" list in the device under ' Audio, video and game controllers' Manager, and I've never had the modem sounds come through the main speakers. [The difference between "half-duplex" and "full-duplex" is if you wait until a part expresses before the start of the other or if both parties can talk at the same time.]
Rather, apparently some - but far from everything - modem drivers have a checkbox somewhere in the modem properties dialog box (accessed through Device Manager or control panel > modems Options and) who runs the sound of the system's external speakers.
While you're in the control panel > phone and Modem Options, click on the "Advanced" tab and check the Unimodem 5 Service provider is installed. It must have been installed by default, but if not, you might want to add (using the 'Add' button).
I suspect that your previous modem driver - which limited the speed of your connection - had the external speaker box, but that the new driver - who has more speed - connect does not work.
It is probably not very satisfactory, but you can increase the volume of the tiny speaker of the modem (a little) by using the "Additional initialization commands" box in the "Advanced tab" in the modem properties dialog box. There are two relevant orders, the order of M (which determines when the speaker is on) and the command L (which sets the volume of the speaker):
M0 speaker always off [that's a zero]
M1 Speaker is activated when the modem is off the hook and the carrier is not detected. [default]
M2 The speaker is always on.
M3 Speaker is activated after dialing the ends and turns off when the carrier negotiation is complete.L0 low volume
L1 low volume
L2 medium volume
High volume of L3Orders are entered, preceded by "AT" (without the quotes) in the box "Additional initialization commands", and there is no spaces. Thus, for example, if you want to hear the sounds, most at very high volume (which unfortunately is usually not very high), you define L3 and M3 by entering the following text in the box:
ATL3M3
With regard to the number of Dell's Service: on the page linked in my previous post, there is a link "enter serial number". If you click on this link there is a box to enter your Dell service tag (and yet another link to tell you how to find if you don't know where it is). Dell uses the "service tag" to identify your specific computer hardware configuration, because the same model Dell (e.g., Dimension 2400) can come with a variety of different hardware options. Using the service tag is supposed to customize the material presented to you so that it is applicable to your computer.
Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer on your modem sounds.

Hosts:
I used this same switch 5 ports for awhile but removed that I is no longer necessary to share the connection. Now, I needed to reuse the switch. I connected the cable between the router and the swih e-NET and the port fire lighted up as expected. Whenever I plug a cable to any port LEDS to blink just as well as the connected computer report that a network cable is unplugged. The wiring is good because I can connected to other computers and router and internet access.
When you connect the Ethernet cable to the switch and the computer you see all the lights on the Port Lan Switch?
When you connect the switch cable to the computer, disable and enable the connection to the Local network, then check if it still shows the same message. If still the same problem try to reduce the map of your network card on your computer.
Click on the Start button > Panel > network connections > right-click on icon "' connection to the Local network'" and select properties-here click on the button click "Configure" on the "Advanced" tab - In the area of 'Property' to highlight the link speed and duplex/connection network/type or type of media - and in the "value" box to select 10 MB/s half duplex / 10 half mode base T/10 basic and click OK.k OK.
