Hard drive choppy. M17X R3 Ailenware

Hi all

For a year I have experienced rough hard drive. Usually noticed during playback of a video from the hard disk, it is also noticed when you mouse clicks, typing in word, etc. I downloaded a video of video playback. This video is streaming, however it is the same choppy playback noted when playing a video from the hard drive.

I tried a video on an external hard drive and it does not appear to be choppy at all. I then moved the video on the desktop and he played there and he knew exactly jerky playback as noted above.

About 9 months ago, one of the 2 hard drives failed and Dell succeeded him. The accident has not fixed the problem. The problem occurred before and after the replacement of the hard disk.

My thoughts are:

1. other HDD is bad - (but doesn't give any errors)

2 - the RAM is bad

3 - the video card is bad

The system components:

10 64-bit Windows

Intel Core i7-260QM @ 2.4

16 GB of Ram

2 x 500 GB ssd

GeForce GTX 560M

Jerky playback video is below. I'll also post a video playback from the hard drive.

Hello

Have you tried to run an ePSA/Diagnostics test to check the hard drive? Click here to see an article that explains how to run this test.

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest, it's really hard for us, users, to say what causes this problem and I think you should test more yourself

Anyway, you have reinstalled Windows using the Toshiba Recovery disk?
You should also check if all Windows updates are installed and if you have yellow exclamation points in Device Manager.

  • When I deleted a picture of my MacBook, why it also remove the external hard drive?

So I tried to help my wife to free up space on his MacBook Pro by putting all of his photos on an external hard drive. After iPhoto slide the hard disk and wait 40 minutes so that he could transfer, I wanted to make sure it worked. I ejected the disk and then plugged in. Of course, all iphotos were still there. Just to be sure, I deleted one file in the folder on the computer's iphoto. I went to my shock and horror, the external hard drive, that it has been deleted it too! How is that possible? I've been scouring the Internet trying to retrieve this file with no luck. It was not in the trash. There is a tab "recently deleted". Time machine was not turned on. iCloud shows nothing. I can't download any software, because the computer is completely filled. How is it possible that by deleting this folder on the computer he did also leave the hard drive? AND it has not been saved in the trash? I have used PC, and whenever I need something in return, he was ALWAYS in the trash. And if I deleted something on the computer with an external hard drive connected, it would NEVER be removed from the external hard drive at the same time. I'm so frustrated and feeling SO bad that I deleted a folder with important pictures of our kids. Is that what I can do to recover the pictures? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You used Time Machine at all? I see you say it was not on, but it never on and is at - it a backup Time Machine on the Macbook Pro?

  • How to change back to SSD HARD drive?

My mcbook pro comes with the original 500 GB of HARD drive. When he ran with a problem, I went to an apple repair shop. Problem was in the charts, and he suggested the HARD drive to be replaced by a 120 GB SDD. So it has been replaced, but the guy on the left HARD drive as a storage device. Moment where DDI is left with small space and when I update to OS X El Capitan of OS Sierra, it had to be installed in the HARD disk drive. Could someone please give instructions to install the new OS to the SDS to lose all my data and the current configuration and it is also possible to install windows XP on the HARD drive and 10.  Either by the way, I got Windows 10 and XP shared with the SDS via parallels. Thank you

I think this can be useful for you:

How to use an SSD with your HARD drive

If you want to use an SSD as boot with your existing HARD disk drive, as the disk 'data', here is what you can do.

After installing the SSD, you need to partition and format the SSD using disc utility disc. Then install OS X on the SSD. Once installed OSX boot from SSD. Startup disk preferences to set up the SSD as the boot volume.

Open the preferences users and groups. Click the lock and authenticate you. Or CTRL - RIGHT click on your username account list in the sidebar and select Advanced Options in the context menu. You will see a field called "Home dir: ' on the far right, you will see an Edit button. Click on it. In the file dialog box, navigate to the location in house now located on the HARD disk (disk HARD/users/user_name /.) Select the folder, click the Open button. Restart the computer, as shown. When the computer starts, it will now use the home located on the HARD drive folder.

Another more technical method involving the Terminal and the alias is discussed in depth here: using OS X with a SSD and HDD - Matt Gemmell configuration. It's my preferred approach because I can choose which records of the House, I want to on the HARD drive and I don't want to. For example, I like to keep Documents and library files on the SSD because I frequently access their content.

Make sure that you keep the bootable system entirely on your HARD drive where you need it.

  • Seagate external hard drive / / no display

Recently I bought a Portable Seagate 2 TB external hard drive for my MacBook Air. I put all my movies, music, ext documents on my hard drive with my important homework. The reason why I did was reset my mac, then return all my old documents, photos ext, back to their place of origin. I have managed to do and frees a lot of space. A few days after my MacBook fell asleep with a connected external hard drive and now the hard drive is no longer present on the desktop or in finder. I am able to find in my "disk utility" , but for some reason, it shows the hard drive passed out faded gray and full? I tried to hook up with different cables and on the various devices as well. Also sang the first aid option in "disk utility" with no other results. I have contacted apple support and found out it was the external hard drive with the problem, so they couldn't help me. They then redirected me to Seagate Support, and I had already tried the methods they gave me (see list above). I was wondering if anyone here on communities of Apple has experienced the same problem as me, it would be that much appreciated advice you may have. I have important files that I need to recover.

    Help, please!

Had a similar problem with external hard drive WD also on model MBA early 2015. Found if I disconnect the external hard drive restart MBA and then reconnect the external hard drive it was working normally again.

Another thing I tried was still unplug HD plugin MBA on sector and re - a SMC.

  • MacBook Pro not mounting external hard drive

My Macbook Pro (early 2015, running Mac OS Sierra) is not able to mount my [new] external hard drive (Seagate Backup Slim). It shows up in disk utility, but the volume seems shady. Nothing happens by pressing the command mount or performing first aid. Kindly help me out here.

    Hi vishesh97,

Welcome to the communities of Apple Support!

We understand your question that you have a new external hard drive, a backup Slim Seagate, which does not appear when you connect to your MacBook Pro.

Allows because it is a new hard drive, try to clear the disc first and formatting for Mac OS extended (journaled). The instructions for this process are found in the article below:

For Mac disk utility: delete a volume using disk utility

  • Backup of two mac mini hard drives

I have a Mac Mini 2011 with two 500 GB hard drives.  I have apps and General things about hard drive #1 and #2 only has pictures and videos.  Will be Time Machine backs up both drives to my external hard drive as one or two separate back ups?  I see files of backup HD #1, but not sure if the HD #2 files are also there.  I can't find an answer in the support documents.  Ideas?

Open the Time Machine system preferences pane, click Options, and check if the disks are in the exclusion list.

My computer with two hard drives and 2 starting systems has the car crash in the solid state. When I got the new drive and tried to restore from time capsule, I lost some data. How can I see what backups are on the time capsule? My laptop is also saved to the time capsule. Everything is in 'Data' when I look through the Airport utility. I think that the information that I've lost are still there since I was a Capsule 3 to.

Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.

The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.

Open the sparsebundle in Finder and keep open the subfolders until you get to the backup of each separate hard drive...

You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?

By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?

Once you get to this level during the backup, you can do a full restore manually whenever you want.

  • MacBook hard drive failure

The hard drive on my MacBook (2011) crashed. I could not successfully reinstall OS X (it try to install Mountain Lion - perhaps because of the age of the MacBook). Bit then it crashes when it does real settle.

Can I create a new partition and try to install OS X on this new partition? How do I do that?

Or maybe I'm better of restoring a backup Time Machine prior? If I restore from a backup time machine, I lose my data since the last backup time machine (my last backup was March 2016, and I need the data from March 2016 before).

I'm not super technical, so please provide feedback that I hope that I can understand how to run.

    Thank you!

The hard drive on my MacBook (2011) crashed. I could not successfully reinstall OS X (it try to install Mountain Lion - perhaps because of the age of the MacBook). Bit then it crashes when it does real settle.

You don't mention if you replaced the hard drive or all just try reinstalling OS X on top of the existing. No matter, what method you are trying to use to do? Recovery Mode, Internet, Time Machine backup or an installation DVD restore recovery Mode?

I'm also assuming you don't have any other form of backups to restore from, for example, an external USB drive with a copy of the internal hard disk fairly new clone of your MacBook... correct? If this isn't the case, I strongly suggest that you consider to do so move on... especially if any of the data on the hard drive is essential for you.

What would be recommended would, at this point, the following basic steps:

    1. Run Apple Hardware Test to verify that there is no problem with your MacBook hardware. You won't waste time trying to reinstall the software on the disc if it is faulty.
    2. Perform a Recovery Mode (will install this latest version of Mac OS X that you MacBook was running) or the recovery of Internet Mode (will install the version of Mac OS X initially supplied with your MacBook) to re - install OS X.
    3. Restore from Time Machine.
  • Complete hard drive well messages have a lot of space.

    Hello world

IM using a MacMini 2012 with 16 GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD stock.

I don't know what to do. My MacMini gives me error messages all the time say that my HARD disk memory is full - but it isn't.

I already emptied the trash. I was transferred to GB´s videos on an external HARD drive. Sometimes, the memory is more and what is reduced without having done anything.

Today I had 1, 76 GB of free memory and wile watching a video the same 'lack of HARD disk space"message.

The amounts also vary a lot. Yesterday he showed me 210 GB of videos (green) - today after the transfer not 10 GB of videos, it says now that I just left 12 GB and the difference is now on color (yellow) data.

    Can someone help me please...

Hope I explained myself good enough.

    Thx a lot in advance!

  • Mini Mac server - attachment of external hard drives file transfer speed

    Hi guys!

I wanted to increase the speed and storage capacity to transfer to my Mac mini file, so I bought a box of external hard drives. The one I bought is: http://www.icydock.com/goods.php?id=219

Built-in the Mac mini hard drives transfer the file to 60 MB/s (writing and reading) and I wanted to get better speed of file transfer, so I bought an SSD that is going to be inside with an another HARD drive of 3 TB for archiving my files. The housing is connected by USB3.0 (5 Gb/s) for the Mac mini.

    [SSD-> files I opened every day] - speed around 550 MB/s write and 500 MB/sec in reading

[HDD-> Archives, files that I have does not open very often] - speed around 150 MB/s write and 150 MB/sec in reading

So I did some benchmarks on my new Setup, and the speed is not really what I expected. Transfer of file max speed I have achieved is about 100 MB/sec in writing on the external SSD plugged into the mac mini. This transfer has been filed since an iMac 21 "2011 with an SSD (with almost the same speed read/write than the box) so it's quite disappointing.

It is possible that the Mac has a 'file transfer speed limit' is somewhere? Or whatever else that could affect that?

    More information on my setup:

    Mac Mini server 2012 - 2 TB RAID 1 - Mac OSX 10.9.5

    iMac 21 "2011 - Crucial SSD 275 Gb - Mac OSX 10.9.4

    IcyDock external enclosure - 4 bays, USB3 5 Gb/s

    -Red WD HDD 3To

    -Crucial SSD 1 TB

    Together internal Gigabit Ethernet network

    Thank you!

Was perhaps Spotlight indexing external at the same time, the test has been done?

  • Problem of macOS / external hard drive

My external hard drive (Seagate Portable) went wonky after update of my MacBook Pro for macOS Sierra.

I did some research and I've followed all the advice - nothing helped.

・It is not in the Finder.

・It is listed in "Disk utility", but I can't do anything with him - like mounting the drive.

・ "Disk utility", says that the Seagate drive is completely full - but I know for sure that's not true - it was about a quarter full and has only a few months.

・i reset the PRAM & SMC on Mac

Try to update the Paragon NTFS driver. You can find the updated version on the Seagate support site at:
