Hard drive easily gets full

Hello

I write a Windows Vista problem in the name of the customer. Here's the concern:

«For some reason any my becomes full of fast hard drive c have and I always had more space, then I do now.»

The client tried to use Disk Cleanup to resolve the problem without success. He also scanned the computer viruses, but found nothing.

Please let us know how to fix this problem.

Thank you.

Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know usingGoogle (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

You can run disk - built into Windows Vista - cleanup to erase everything except your last restore point and yet more 'free '... files cleaning

Delete files using disk cleanup

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

CCleaner (free!)
http://www.CCleaner.com/
(just disk cleanup - do not play with the part of the registry for the moment)

Other ways to free up space...

SequoiaView

JDiskReport
http://www.jgoodies.com/freeware/JDiskReport/index.html

Those who can help you discover visually where all space is used. Then, you can determine what to do.

After that - you want to check any physical errors and fix everything for efficient access"

CHKDSK
How to scan your disks for errors* will take time and a reboot.

Defragment
How to defragment your hard drives* will take time

Now that your system is generally free of malicious software (assuming you have an AntiVirus application), you've cleaned the "additional applications" that could be running and picking up your precious memory and the processor, you have authorized out of valuable and makes disk space as there are no problems with the drive itself and your Windows Update components are up-to-date and should work fine - there is another thing you pouvez wish to make:

Get and install the hardware device last drivers for your system hardware/system manufacturers support and/or download web site.

If you want, come back and let us know a bit more information on your system - particularly the brand / model of the system, you have - and maybe someone here can guide you to the place s x of law to this end. This isn't 100% necessary - but I'd be willing to bet that you would gain some performance and features in making this part.

original title: Netbook Windows 7 problem

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

  • My files on the hard drive are getting corrupted?

I use the model of MacBook Air 2013 Yosemite running. I have a Seagate BackPlus 1 TB drive to NTFS. And I use Tuxers NTFS on my Mac to read and write files from NTFS devices. Lately, I'm sloly from knowledge that my files on the hard drive are getting corrupted. When I try to open any folder I blocks until I have remove my hard drive. I lost some files like this. Now, they are completely inaccessilble. The big sone files show even ehen 0 bytes, they are around a GB or something. I start out freak because all my data is in this hard drive. 1 TB of data. Its my life is locked in it.

Is someone can you please tell me what is happening with my hard drive?

    Thanks in advance...

Is someone can you please tell me what is happening with my hard drive?

Probably not. The problem you are experiencing is almost certainly that the drive itself has failed. It could have also been caused by third party software that you use to support a formatted NTFS volume. Isolate the cause to one or the other is probably not an effort worth it, because the files themselves are probably already damaged and unusable. In this case the only alternative to certain to succeed is to restore from a backup.

As you know the Mac FAT32 and ExFAT supports and can read, but not write - formatted NTFS volume. For this reason, if you ask the Windows compatibility, you must select ExFAT.

You could try using the third-party data recovery software, even if success is not guaranteed. I can offer no specific product recommendations.

After changing the cables, jumpers, the bios settings to show as the master I am using the Windows XP disk, I try to put in place. Hello

Since you have changed your HDD, I would contact the Microsoft product activation center to get on your version of the operating system. Visit the link that provides the phone number of the same below:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

You will need to invest in a new license, as Windows 8 OEM System Builder License shall exercise the rights of transfer, its quite a good deal.

There is no full retail version of Windows 8. If you need a full version, you will need to purchase the Pro OEM Windows 8 of new eggs. To do this, install an own custom.

  • How to add 2nd hard drive; first is full

5.7 LR used on an iMac with a catalog and images at this point on a single external hard drive.

Now that the drive is close to full so a second drive ready to go.

I need advice on how to proceed. I think my options would be:

    1. continue with the same catalog but speaking to 2 hard drives (possible or not?) The rest catalog where it is on Drive 1 or move it to the new Drive 2?

    2. create the catalog on the new hard drive where the new and future pictures are stored. In this case, when I want to see/manipulate the older images, I have to open the older catalog, I guess, and there is no way to have all the images of these two albums "visible" or accessible at the same time.

I hope that I've explained this well enough. Appreciate any advice, thanks.

Well your post on the space available on disk 1 is revealing. You have simply not enough space on disk 1 to copy whatever it is him. This includes new writing entries in the LR catalog file. you need to move things off disc 1. Do not move images unless you do only from Lightroom.

But there are probably tons of things on disc 1 that can easily and safely, move to the new drive or even removed completely.

Never fill a disc. Always allow free to at least 10-20%.

  • Hard drive MacBook Air full when using only iclouddrive

Can anyone help please.  I'm sure that its very simple.  I have a Macbook Air and create books for children.  I saved all the files on my iclouddrive account, thinking that I don't use space on my hard drive!  However, my hard drive is now complete.  I thought by storing all my files on the cloud, the hard drive of my computer would be pretty empty, after all this is why I bought a Macbook Air!  I asked for support to an apple store and they said that some Macbook Air have a bug that duplicates files and I need to check the files are uploaded on my drive to iCloud and then re - install the OS on my MBAir to get rid of the bug

3 questions: it will work.  Y at - it a simpler way and he will wipe away the files on iCloud drive at the same time or they will be safe until I have access again to my newly cleaned MBAir?

    help most appreciated.

    Badger

If you have the Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud drive turned on, then all files that you have stored in iCloud drive to https://www.icloud.com/ will have a local copy on your Mac. It's not a bug, this is how it is designed to work. iCloud Drive is mainly designed for the synchronization of data between devices and is not intended as a storage cloud solution only.

  • Newly installed hard drive, cannot get the reinstallation of Windows 7 to the end

Hi all. My factory-issued Seagate 1 TB hard drive of origin provided with my PC Pavilion Elite HPE-240f failed a few months ago and I finally had time to fixation (rock a Pavilion dm4 laptop in the meantime, I'm not in a huge rush). I replaced it tonight with a Western Digital Blue 1 TB hard drive, which I know is Advanced Format.

I love HP platform minor changes in the the Windows 7 OS, I went ahead and tried to reinstall the OS of my recovery disks that I made when I got this PC. I checked the BIOS settings and the new hard drive WD IS recognized, the size is correct, etc. It has been configured in RAID with the SATA controller, and I tried to put out when the installation of the operating system initially lacked AHCI. It seems to be stuck in some kind of loop in the final configuration step, and I get out of the dialog box "Installation of Windows set up Windows to run on a hardware on this computer" could not. Hit Okay sends in reboot and after that I get a "Windows is unable to complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation"notice.

It makes me batty, and I really want my back office. This is a great machine, and as much as I love my laptop, it can't handle heavy programs like Photoshop or my multitasking fool. I managed to get the OS installed by forcing the system to bypass its system predefined through registry commands, but the important things were wrong, as Windows Update does not work, so I'll try to reset all with only recovery disks. So far, no go. I am extremely tired, frustrated, and it's late, so apologies for what I've left out or of typos. Any help on how to solve this problem is GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you very much for your response, @MechPilot. I actually found what I thought, it's perhaps the question a day or two before your answer: my computer was manufactured and purchased just before October 2010, which has been cut for restoration placed disks shaped for the drives non - Advanced Format. All the following which has been reformatted accordingly. I contacted HP and bought the replacement of the recovery discs (made in 2012), that I received yesterday. After several hours of nerves and finger-crossing, it worked like a charm. The operating system has successfully recovered, and I couldn't be happier!

I answer computer said of office right now, in fact! Thanks again.

  • H9 want - 1469ea Phoenix: CSO part of hard drive 0 indicates full - E Drive a 2.7 TB unused.

I'm a H9-1469ea Phoenix office less than 2 years. The OSC Drive (referred to as disk 0) with 106 GB is full of programs etc and cause serious problems. The rest of the car O contains recovery (drive D), and I'm unable to increase the volume of the part of the OSC. The D drive on disk 1 has more than 2.7 TB of unused space (I keep all data on a spare drive - not the computer), but I am unable to repartition to use this space as the C for programs, etc. How can I increase the size of drive E (Datadrive) using a portion of unused space in drive E greater than 2.7 to.

Serial number is [removed personal information]

    Hi again rgh1,

It is good to hear from you!

The reason why your particular computer was equipped with a smaller than the hard disk drive is for quick loading and processing of the operating system. As the disc is an SSD means that the start-up will be generally faster than a typical hard drive!

To keep your system works effectively, without overloading the drive 0, you can use your E drive for storage of files, applications and games. For example, you can reinstall Steam on your computer hard disk of 2.7 TB. This can be done by navigating to a different destination folder on the E drive. For more information, you can also take a look at this document on install games in different places.

I hope this helps, and if you need further assistance, I would be very happy to give him!

Have a great rest of your day!

  • HARD drive caddy gets stuck into the Ultrabay slot. T510.

I bought myself a caddy of SATA hard drive on ebay (Yes, a knockoff of one) and put it in the ultrabay with an SSD inside housing (the plan was to clone my current drive for the SSD and then put the SSD into the slot of the readers later). The caddy went fine, but now it just won't come out. I push the release switch and try to push the second switch upward, but it is completely stuck in there...

My first plan was to remove the keyboard and just take a look to see if there's anything obviously wrong. This plan was stopped when one of the screws holding the keyboard in place was too tight, and they are really small screws. I didn't try not more scared to round the screw head.

If at this point, I'm probably going to have to send walking back to Lenovo and ask them to disassemble the laptop to get that thing. Until I do that, someone has ideas or ideas on what could be done?
