Hard drive - error 114

I bought a brand new series Vaio F11 (the ones with the issue of ventilation) and the hard drive failed after only 3 months of use. Technicians from technical support after haggling with the very basic (who couldn't understand me and vice versa) for more than 2 hours-, they decided to send me a new hard drive with restart records. Reboot disks did not work, because I kept getting an error 114 (the disc is not compatible with this model). I tried to use to run the computer market several times, with different recovery disks, they sent me... nothing helps. I contacted the vaio support to guide me through to make sure I was doing the recovery correctly. The first thing that they have me do is to disable my vaio and try again. I wouldn't have asked if I had not tried repeatedly.

It is one of the Sonys Vaios more expensive they sell - and his junk and their outsourced support team is terribly technically-unsavvy, that provides recommendations that my old 6 year old nephew has to offer.

Horrible product. Horrible service. Can't wait to get this piece of junk to run in order to sell it on ebay and buy a mac.

Come on Sony!

User-909906,

Can you please give us the following information so that we can address your issue.

(1) your exact model
(2) your event or the work order ID
(3) the part number of the recovery disc

I'm really sorry for your trouble in this case.

  • Satellite L350 - persistent master hard drive errors

I've known persistent main hard disk errors. Errors, in their first incarnation, were windows freeze at loading screens and screensavers, and then developed by stopping Windows to boot at all. It certainly would not start normally and sometimes would not start in safe mode. I used the recovery partition to restore the computer to its factory settings. A day or two later, the same symptoms began to manifest again, although not as severely. The hard drive errors, freeze on screens and loading screen savers.

My question is: if I re - format the hard drive master, thus destroying the recovery partition, I could then just restore windows from a newly formed recovery CD? And, in addition, what is the probability that reformatting the drive hard completely would have an effect on the frequency of errors?
If the hard drive is simply borked, format or not? And if yes, what is the next step?
Could I restore windows on my drive hard slave and give up on the master?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Buddy,

Are you sure that all these problems related to the HARD drive at 100%? How did you check that?

I don t mean it s not the HARD drive, theoretically, you could be right but before you think to change the HARD drive please use a diagnostic tool special for HDD as Drive Fitness Test:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/support/downloads/#DFT

This tool can check your HARD drive for bad sectors.

If the HARD features of bad sectors disk, formatting will not help you because the sectors are physically damaged. With other words, the only chance is to exchange it.

But if you have already used the recovery feature of HARD Toshiba drive to reinstall Windows you can say s that no problem of software and it must be hardware related. ;)

  • Hard drive error, but passes diagnostic

I have a vostro 320 all in one computer. Yesterday he left initializing with a hard drive error, but when I run the hardware diagnostics all past. When I go into the installer the Bious does not see the hard drive. Current Bious is 1.2.0 and current is 1.4.0.

If the BIOS does not see the hard drive, no - you will need to replace the disk.

You can take a chance on the resettlement of the player (unplug the system and disconnect and reconnect the hard drive), but if so, it is not detected by the system, it is toast and needs to be replaced.

Installation of Windows and Office are counterfeits.

You use an OEM_SLP for Windows key that is valid ONLY for machines shipped with Windows 7 pre-installed - your machine was made two years before Win7 is released and may not support such a key.

The Office installation is based on a stolen Volume license key.

You must reformat and reinstall real media and keys.

    Error message-

A failure in the hard drive test indicates a physical problem with the hard drive. In other words, that it should probably be replaced. It is relatively in line with impatience, so you should be able to do it yourself. What is the exact model of the laptop number? I'll find detailed instructions for you.

In case you do not want to replace the drive yourself, or if you feel that you can still be in warranty, I suggest to contact the HP Support for your region. If you are in the United States / Canada you can contact to the 1-800-474-6836. If you live outside this area, you will need to go to HP's Site's Support.

In addition, you will need the recovery disc to restore the original operating system.  If you have any earlier, you can contact HP to get them.

  • 303 hard drive error code, how to replace

I have run diagnostics from the system on my laptop and learned that the hard drive has not give the error code 303.  It came preloaded with 7 Home Premium from Windows OA.  We do not have a backup image or installation disk.  The laptop is old and out of warranty of 2 years.

Should what hard drive replacement options I look for?

Also, what options I have to install Windows 7?

    product: HP Pavilion g series

    s/n: [personal information deleted]

    p/n: LZ514EA #ABU

    Model: g6-1184sa

    Hello

Firstly, regarding the disk HARD, your laptop is listed as coming with a 500 GB hard drive, but you can just as easily install a 750 GB HARD drive if you want a little more than space - readers at the following links are examples that would be perfect for your laptop.

    Hard drive 500 GB

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive starts on Page 54 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

Regarding the reinstallation of the operating system on the new drive, there are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.  The following link guess that you live in the United Kingdom.

Order recovery HP. - UK discs.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the Disk Image correct ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

To place a display that showed a message (HDD error please run the System Diagnostics hard drive test.) Hard drive 1 (3F1) f2 System Diagnostics. For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup ).

Yes, I ran the test. In fact, I ran two of them. After checking the hard drive, but the test of memory appear Smart check & short DST not installed.

If the computer is less than a year old HP probably fix it at their cost. If you live in the United States, call the 1-800-HP-INVENT and go to the personal computer support to make a claim. Probably they will send a box for it and have shipped to and returned from a repair center.
